Negative experience: Spent 5 minutes with Dentist. 40 minute wait 15 minutes with hygienist. Not impressed. Think your practice manager needs to review timings. My time is important to me and not sure what I am actually paying for

Positive experience: Caring and gentle dentistry indeed! I was suffering from a sensitive tooth a week ago so I telephoned the practice and was offered an appointment for a few days later. The appointment came and my problem was solved calmly and effectively, with great care taken to ensure I was feeling ‘okay’ at every step. Thankyou to the receptionists and to Mr Dixon.

Fantastic experience: I am 30 weeks pregnant with an abscess and severe anxiety when it comes to dentists but Paul was amazing. He was gentle and calm and only wanted what was best for me and my current situation. Although we were unable to treat the issue at that time, Paul offered alternatives and gave me support in what the next steps are. I love how the staff treat their patients at Whickham dental practice and I would never think of going anywhere else. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I registered with Whickham Dentsl Practice yesterday on recommendation by my daughter and son-in-law who are registered patients. I was extremely impressed by the reception staff who made the registration process very clear and simple. There was an appointment available for an initial assessment by dentist Paul who was extremely organised and professional as was his dental assistant Mary.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with my first experience with this Whickham Dental practice. I had recently moved to Whickham and had not registered with any dental practice. I had a bit of an emergency when the cement of a bridge that was fitted 13 years previously by another dentist failed and my implant holding 3 teeth fell out. The reception staff were really sympathetic and the practice manager told me she would see Mr Dixon as soon as he was in between patients. She asked me to return in about 30 minutes and I would be seen by the dentist. He did indeed see me and rectified the problem that same day. I was so relieved and very impressed with the prompt attention I received. I will definitely recommend them.

Fantastic experience: A lovely practice in an old building in Whickham. The building is the only thing that is old about it, Lovely reception with friendly and very helpful staff. The dentists have complementary skills, and there are several practices within the building. . I have had dental implants there which are the best investment I have ever made! I attended last week because a tooth which has given me trouble for some time had developed an abscess. After a week of antibiotics which had not been effective , I called in on a Friday afternoon and was lucky to receive a cancellation. My tooth was extracted under local anaesthetic. It was so quick I thought he hadn’t been able to get it out! There was minimal discomfort afterwards and I followed the aftercare instructions sent on to me by e mail. I thought I was in for a difficult weekend but by the next day the gum was healing so well I was able in the afternoon to eat home made pizzas! Andrew Dixon, my dentist., is friendly and highly skilled and I could not recommend him more highly.

Fantastic experience: This is a truly lovely dental practice detached from the trauma of dental fears it promotes a positive dentistry experience and is totally patient centred. From the staff to the dentists themselves this is a fantastic dental practice and I am its biggest fan. Whether you want cosmetic work or just wish to keep your dental health at a high standard this has to be the best in the North East. It is also wonderful for children..no more dentist visit nightmares here you can trust in a family centred practice that will take care of all of your dental needs whatever your age. FEB 2024 Another positive experience at Whickham Dental Practice this time with the lovely Kerry Smith. An awkward extraction done amazingly whilst keeping me calm the whole time. I can't praise enough, brilliant. Unfortunately I had to have a problematic upper wisdom tooth removed recently. Again Kerry Smith was amazing. She does whatever she can to make the experience as calm and positive as possible. Her assistant Michelle is equally as lovely and I am so grateful to them both. Never dread the dentist first class practice and staff!

Negative experience: Having been with Whickham Dentist Practice for over 2 decades, this was first visit since I was informed my regular dentist Mr Dixon had moved to another practice in Durham. This experience was far from the calm and gentle dentist experience I was used to, this was more of a rough and rushed experience. In my very short visit (5 mins including X-rays), I was informed I had some inflammation of my gums by the dentist however when I went into see the hygienist I was informed I had gum disease which came as a bit of a curve ball. Even the hygenist was very quick (more so than usual) and not as relaxed and chatty as usual. All in all, not a great visit with a new dentist and overall poor experience.

Fantastic experience: Seen by Rob Gair for part one of a root canal filling. I was a little nervous when I first went in but soon realised that I was in expert hands. Rob fully explained the whole procedure before starting treatment, and also explained what he was doing as he went along. Totally painless procedure. Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Whickham Dental Practice for over 20 years and in the main my visits have been for check ups and hygienists appointments. Today at the age of 57 I had a wisdom tooth extracted and having had a traumatic experience in 1993 that led to me avoiding the dentist for over 10 years I was not looking forward to this. My regular Dentist Kerry Wilson completed the procedure and she was excellent. No pain, no discomfort and above all she ensured I was comfortable throughout. 35 minutes from start to finish. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff that informed me of exact check up cost plus potential costs if x ray required already when booking my appointment so there was no unexpected charges. I had to change my appointment twice but each time I gave a full week notice and staff were very polite and helpful about it. And now for my dentist Paul McGuirk who’m I only have praise for as he is a fantastic, humble, caring and gentle dentist! He has loads of patience and even for the kids too!! I have been to this dental practice for around 30 years and in more recent years my wife (who was from London) and then our children joined from a very young age. They are all just as highly satisfied!
