Bupa Dental Care Northampton

Negative experience: I had to rearrange my (private) dental appointment due to unforeseen illness and also my Child’s unforeseen illness twice. Whoever I spoke to on the phone was so incredibly rude and completely unhelpful. She basically made me feel as if I had been making mine and my Child’s illnesses up, wouldn’t rebook my existing appointment, and instead told me to call on the day I could come and they’d have to ‘see if they had an appointment on that day’. Absolutely disgusting service. I only had to go back in the first place because I had paid an emergency fee and adhesive fee to have a veneer and a crown stuck back in - they BOTH came back out the day after my emergency appointment!! I have been walking around with no veneer on my front tooth since, so to have a receptionist tell me that she’s not going to rebook my (rearranged) appointment and talk to me like I’m dirt and that my reasons for having to rearrange twice are untrue is beyond belief!! I will be taking my business (and money) to another bupa dentist elsewhere.

Negative experience: Every one star review is accurate. Do not go to this clinic. Especially Ewa Sliwowska. Worst dentist I have ever gotten a consultation from. Dismissive, rude, rushed, disrespectful and condescending. Didn’t even let me explain my condition to the full extent, kept interrupting my every word, looked in my mouth for 2 seconds before sending me on my way (even though I explained I thought the reason for infection in my partially impacted wisdom tooth - which she claims is healthy - is because of popcorn skin lodged too deep in my gums to remove and that Ive not been able to remove myself - didn’t even check to see if there was anything between my gums..) Not that she would have let me get a full sentence out to explain it, because she wasn’t listening to me at all, just interested in yes and no and short questions so she can get the consultation over with. She looked (in the wrong side of my mouth at first - stating the tooth Im complaining about doesn’t exist as if I was insane coming in with phantom pains) You have to apparently have 3 consultations that document issues with a tooth before they even consider referral to remove it (even if you want to do that privately) - information which isn’t displayed anywhere on their website.. My wisdom tooth is getting removed this Friday because I decided to get a second opinion and ran into someone competent that actually knows how to diagnose and treat.

Fantastic experience: Very relaxed experience.

Negative experience: Not happy at all with my experience if I didn’t speak up I would of had wrong treatment due to name mix up on top then told a charge of £66 but challenged this as have Bupa dental insurance in which the receptionist when on phone called the dentist told they was on wrong file not happy at all.

Fantastic experience: Bupa Dental care is a place of professionalism. The reception is well formed & operated. Ms Harriett and the team on the desk are always busy settling patients and creating scheduled dental plans to suit each patient as I've watched this sitting in reception. My experience with both Dr. Ruth Medina & Dr. Manu Philips have been enjoyable . I'm lucky to be a patient here, I've had implants, bridges ,fillings , extractions and deep cleans, now it's a keep it clean and healthy mouth routine which stops any further major works to be carried out. Once the practice has sorted your mouth problems out, KEEP BRUSHING your teeth regularly, twice a day thoroughly, two checks a year and a deep clean, you can carry on life with a healthy mouth. It really is like gym for your mouth, keeping it clean and doing the things that promote a healthy mouth. I learned a lot about mouth hygiene through Dr. Ruth , and Dr. Manu and the lead receptionist Ms. Harriett & the desk staff Thank you Dr. Ruth, Dr. Manu, ms Harriett, the management team Mrs Sherry, Mrs .Pope, Mrs. Rebecca (Becks). Absolutely brilliant. Anyone complaining must be a one off or are being a difficult patient. It's true, you can't blame this Practice for your malpractice of hygiene, I've come a long way over many years, my teeth were broken, some rotten, dissolved root , it was terrible. Listen to these people, they are Experts. Don't be embarrassed, but willing to do what is needed for a great feeling healthy mouth. The problem is, people underestimate the importance of cleaning your teeth every day properly. Do this and find your dentist at Bupa will be happy for you. Thank you Bupa Daniel Bell

Fantastic experience: The best dentists in the County. I was in agony when I came in for an emergency extraction. Struggled to get this stubborn tooth out in the past with other dentists, however Shiv made it look effortless, swiftly getting rid of the immediate pain, providing reassurance and updating on progress throughout the procedure which was pretty swift. Impressive stuff. I’ve now fully registered and will only be using their service moving forward's. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't imagine going anywhere but Bupa for my dental needs. The receptionist Chloe gave a delightful welcome, her positive calm disposition on the phone and in person gives a lovely sense of security for nervous patients. I was taken up by nurse Morgan who's heartwarming smile and friendly chatter can go so far in making appointments a pleasure. Some of the dentists impressed me most with their genuine care for my concerns and wishes, they treats patients like with honesty and openness about procedures the way you would expect from a dear friend with wanting what's best for you, it's certainly rare to find professionals who bridge the gap between dentist and patient to give that feeling of really being taken care of and leaving no room for hesitation or doubt, I was listened to without judgement and given all information without being overwhelmed. I really cannot fault Bupa at all for the staff they choose, I don't know where they find them but I'd never recommend anywhere else for I know here it's 10/10 for both results and quality of care.

Negative experience: Just awful. Three visits. Three requirements to complain. Haven't bothered going through the complaint the last two, because the resolution of the first was "thank you for your feedback". Yawn. Just an awful experience of simply trying to get generic dental treatments.

Positive experience: Bupa team were really great, been having issues with my wisdom tooth impacting for two years so I got an emergency appointment and they were really helpful, got me an x-ray and a referral to the minor oral surgery very quickly. However the minor oral surgery wasn’t great, and in my opinion they made an already nerve racking experience so much worse. The dentist I saw was very blunt, and came across quite rude. There was no explanation of the procedure or what to expect. After the extraction, I was given a piece of paper with some after care on but no one explained what recovery would be like, what to look out for and what to be careful of. I went back in for a check up a few days later as I was still in a lot of pain, and a different dentist made me feel stupid for going to get checked up as everything was fine. This could have been avoided had the dentist or team given me any idea of what is normal after an extraction and when to be concerned. Safe to say I won’t be going back if I don’t have to

Fantastic experience: My Dentist is Ewa Sliwowska ... Ewa does the NHS clients for this dentist's ... She is always smiling/happy and is as amazing as a lady as she is Dentist!! Even when I leave my Dentist with a numb mouth? I always carry a smile for how comfortable Ewa makes me feel! And she always has something funny to tell me each visit I have. God bless her! I'm so, lucky to have her as my dentist! (Ewa's assistant is also a lovely young lady as well, sorry .. didn't get her name?) PLEASE DO NOT!! RETIRE EWA!! X

Fantastic experience: Absolutely the best dentist I’ve ever visited Had an infection and a tooth that needed removing I was absolutely scared dentist shiv and nurse Morgan was amazing and the experience was the best one I’ve ever had never felt a thing and Anne was so welcoming we will be back appointment booked already and we will be visiting regularly Been back for all my work since and now I only need regular check ups tbh I never felt a thing one tooth out a clean and 2 fillings later and I’m no longer scared off the dentist Thank you so much for getting me though this

Negative experience: I'm giving one star.. not for the dental work they carry out, but for the fact that nobody answers the phone ...EVER! You leave a message, nobody calls you back ... EVER! You try to make an appointment online, but if it's not a hygiene or a check up appointment, you're told to call the telephone number.... Which nobody answers... EVER!

Fantastic experience: I was referred for the extraction of two quite challenging wisdom teeth, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the care I received. The entire team was incredibly professional, efficient, and reassuring throughout the whole process. Dr. Rohit Chandegra, along with nurses Sara and Tiff, were absolutely fantastic. Thanks to their skill and teamwork, both of my wisdom teeth were surgically removed in under an hour and pretty much pain-free. I can’t thank them enough for making what I expected to be a daunting experience so smooth and comfortable. These guys are on top of their game!

Fantastic experience: I have been referred by 111 on an emergency appointment to this practice on Easter Monday. Initially when I called they were fully booked and then they called me back to offer an appointment later that afternoon which was a godsend as I was in agony. Excellent facilities with parking, waiting room and accessible toilet on the ground floor, absolutely brilliant staff, the receptionist was very polite and both the dentist as well as her assistant were brilliant. It was refreshing to see that extraction isn't the only option in this practice, they listen to what the patient wants and they will really try to save that tooth. It is such a shame that they do not accept any NHS patients...

Positive experience: Best doctors in the town for general dental treatments. But receptionist were not very welcoming . Overall had a good experience with them.

Negative experience: Tricky one to allocate a star rating to. I left leaving this review until everything in my treatment plan was completed .The 2 broken crowned teeth extractions and subsequent implant treatment procedures themselves were OK, not as bad as I had anticipated. So I'd probably give 4 stars for that. What really let my experience down was the admin side hence 2 stars. Implant Treatment plans are lengthy over several months so it's not a quick solution. NHS don't 'do' implants I understand unless it's as a result of a serious facial accident trauma or as part of oral cancer treatment so you will be paying for every part of your implant treatment. I was made fully aware of all this after my (paid for ) initial consultation August '23. I was then given an incomplete consent form by reception. I chased the missing part signed & returned in mid Sept. CBCT scan required, have to go to another town for this as Bupa Northampton doesn't have the facility.That was done in Oct' 23 with that being electronically sent back to Northampton soon afterwards. Admin issues really started then.By December I'd not heard anything further from Bupa Dental about starting my treatment plan. Ten days before Christmas I rang to ask what was the situation. Was advised that a manager or treatment co-ordinator would ring back. Nobody did so I chased again. Was told that the implant dentist I'd had the initial consultation with in August had left in September and I was told my 'case' had got lost in their system.I made notes from what the co ordinator told me regarding why they'd somehow lost me. I wasn't impressed to be told this and was advised that this does happen to other patients too. Bupa you need to tighten up your IT/ admin system. Implant treatments are not cheap. I'm talking thousands of pounds here. Added to this delay in my starting the treatment plan in April '24 ( extractions) was the situation of having the replacement implant dentist working just 1 day a month on average at the Northampton branch. My understanding is he also covers several other locations around the county/ neighbouring county.. Extrapolate this with the numbers of patients wanting to have implant work and it's clear it will likely be long and drawn out. Having seen this second implant dentist for the first time in April '24 it meant I was required to have another CBCT scan and additional scan which added to the overall cost. My treatment plan finally finished in January this year 2025 with the 2 crowns being fitted to the implant screws. He's happy with how they look. I have invested a lot of money in my future oral health by having these implants so they will be meticulously cleaned and looked after by me.Time I suppose will tell how well they last. I have my regular 6 monthly Dental check ups with my own dentist at Bupa Northampton who will do a professional clean of the implants to support my daily regime.There were several occasions when admin at surgery weren't communicating with each other as I would get conflicting times on appointments booked with the implant dentist or I wasn't informed of an appointment at all, it was by chance I was booking an appointment online to see my dentist and discovered I'd been booked to see the implant dentist for the next stage of treatment , it appeared they assumed I'd be available without asking me first. Anyway I'm just relieved it's all done now, 17 months start to finish, through no fault of mine. The three takeaways from this are that they lost me in their system, the admin side had not been as proficient as they perhaps should be and the well known shortage of (implant?) dentists trying their best to cope with high numbers of patients. One final suggestion that when you hand over a couple of thousand pounds as part payment to the overall cost, it would really be appreciated to have a please and thankyou from the receptionist dealing with your card transaction...

Negative experience: Horrible people ,I won't go back there sooner pull my own teeth out. My son has been back 4 times each time told he has an abscess and they change him each time for repeat prescription,they won't see him after the antibiotics so by time he goes back infection is there again .. a great way for them to make money without doing any work ,and my son is still on pain

Negative experience: Disgusting place. Basically mutilated me as a child when they removed my healthy teeth for braces and now I have a recession. Do not EVER agree to this procedure.

Negative experience: Most rudest receptionist I have come across today. Bupa are recommended by 111 as an emergency same day appointment dentist. The receptionist who obviously is not a dentist herself decides whether you have a n infection or not and then tells you it's not an emergency. I had a filling come out was in terrible pain, with swelling, i explained this to the receptionist and she states it's not an emergency, although I explained I rang 111 and they suggested bupa. As duty of care Bupa receptionist should have at least tried to see if there were any appointments available or cancellations. But the rude receptionist didn't even let me get that far and refused to even look for any appointments claiming my issue wasn't an emergency!

Fantastic experience: Excellent care and service from both Mohamed and his brilliant assistant whilst having a dental implant. Everything was explained to me in detail every step of the way and great care was taken to make the whole experience as pain-free and comfortable as possible. I can honestly say this wasn't nearly as traumatic as I anticipated, and ended up being very much the same as having a simple filling and nowhere near as uncomfortable as a root canal treatment. I highly recommend this team!

Fantastic experience: In pain, as an emergency case I was seen and treated the same day. A tooth had to be extracted and this was done quickly and efficiently. 24 hours later the pain had gone and I am very relieved. I fear the dentist but everyone was friendly, the dentist and her nurse were professional and understanding, and I cannot praise them enough. The environment is more modern than I recall 4 years ago having been updated. I cannot be more satisfied with my treatment.

Fantastic experience: I can’t thank the team at Bupa dental enough , from the very first meeting I had I was greeted by the friendly reception team ,Tracy was lovely and I was made to feel welcome and at ease immediately, I’ve had dentist fear since my late 20s after a traumatic experience I had in my local town and I had not visited a dentist for 20 years or more due to having severe anxiety since, it was a very painful tooth abscess that led me to going along to bupa Northampton and that was thanks to my daughter who seen how much pain I was in I was met by the lovely reception team who made me feel at ease and welcome which relaxed me staraight away , I was then examined by Shiv Bajaj who again made me feel at ease and explained the procedure at that time along with the dental nurse who were both so friendly and I could not of asked for more, I have been going to bupa now since October 2024 and for me to even say that is a testament to how these guys treat you , I was embarrassed I was anxious and more, however Shiv explained what could be achieved for me long term and I have since had several appointments now where I’ve had multiple extractions and I’m now well on the way to having my confidence back in dealing with the normal day to day things in life where I would normally shy away from, i honestly can’t thank Everyone at this practise enough,what they have done for me is outstanding and I’m Truly grateful for the service I’ve received every single member of the team have made me feel welcome and Dr Shiv really is a true professional , I only wish I would’ve found these guys many years ago, they’ve given me a new lease of life and that’s exactly how I feel , I’m nearly at the end of my treatment but if anyone is anxious or embarrassed about visiting a dentist I would say don’t let that be a barrier like I had done so,they have changed all my negative thoughts on dentists and my experience over night to the point where I enjoy my appointments, they show you they care they treat you with respect and treat you like a human being, thank you all so much for everything you have done for me . Negative experience: Full of Sweetheart and darling when you're paying them money, but when there's an issue to do with their internal systems they then threaten people with legal action. Insulting and disappointing to say the least. The way tracey at the reception deals with people is a shambles. Immy completely lacks patient care. Amit was very nice and is the star of the show and they are lucky to have him and the clinic itself is clean. Hence the 2 stars.

Fantastic experience: I attended Bupa dental yesterday as a trauma emergency. I was very nervous about what could be done to save my tooth, but Shiv Bajaj immediately put my mind at ease. He was kind, confident and calm about the treatment available, which I really appreciated as was feeling pretty low after a nasty accident the previous day, which had caused tooth damage.I felt really looked after by both Shiv and the dental nurse(sorry I can remember your name). Both were so kind. After the treatment, Shiv reassured me about the expected outcome,and what to expect at future checkup. Fantastic experience: It would be wrong of me to say I enjoy coming here, it's a dental practice after all! But as someone who used to get panic attacks over seeing the dentist, Amit puts me at ease and treatment is comfortable. Been coming here for 3 years now and not had any issues.

Negative experience: Ridiculously expensive and dragged out over multiple unnecessary appointments. Paid £160 just to be told what I told them whilst booking the appointment. Never again

Fantastic experience: I had an impacted wisdom tooth removed by Manu Phillip I was extremely nervous, but what a lovely experience I had - Manu was lovely, very good at keeping me at ease along with his assistant they both made a bad experience as “enjoyable” as could be, from booking the appointment to having my treatment every member of staff was great very professional and helpful

Negative experience: Had excellent service and treatment prior to pandemic. Called for an emergency appointment last year and told that due to missed 6 monthly check ups I no longer was a registered patient. I still to this day have had no treatment as I’m on full disability and totally NHS patient and not one single dentist in Northampton can give me treatment. I have diabetes with severe calcium deficiency and now my teeth are deteriorating rapidly all because I didn’t attend my check ups during the covid pandemic

Fantastic experience: I have no words how can i describe how incredible Shiv Bajai dentist and dental nurse Imaan is.I came with extreme tooth pain they were really really nice,kind and caring after few minutes my tooth was gone i havent felt nothing at all.Biggest recommendations for dentist Shiv Bajai and dental nurse Imaan.If i need more help i will go just to them if you have anxiety like me go just to them they will do everything to calm you down.

Negative experience: I was referred to Bupa through a 111 phone call and was absolutely disgusted with how I was spoken to on the phone. Firstly they hung up on me after being in the call que for 30 mins then I was greeted by a very rude lady who was not very helpful and was very aggressive. Ended up not using Bupa and wouldn’t advise going there unless you want to pay them lots of money even though it is an emergency dentist which 111 will tell you to call. Good luck

Fantastic experience: Very straightforward tooth extraction by Dr Manu Philip. Not too much pain once anaesthetic wore off, not sure if that's due to Dr Philip's expertise or my resilience.

Fantastic experience: A dental appointment can be daunting on most but I am petrified at any appointment. I had the roots extracted from a previous extraction at my original dentist. I can’t thank the staff enough for being sympathetic with a nervous patient. It was over before I knew it. Great team and great work. Highly recommend if a nervous patient. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience: My experience with Dr. Shiv is excellent. He cleaned my teeth, did several fillings and also help ed me extract one of my wisdom teeth today. I don’t feel pain after the local is faded and no swelling either. It’s nothing like what I expected, way way better. I would highly recommend Dr. Shiv for his professionalism, attention to detail and sympathy he showed to me during our sessions. And I have to say the receptionists are all very helpful.

Fantastic experience: One tooth (a root canal with crown) had broken down to the gum during one of the Covid lockdowns, the second (also a root canal with crown) broke a few months ago. My new dentist referred me for two extractions and I was sent here. I was extremely nervous, and I need not have been. Mr Rohit Chandegra was kind and considerate and had no trouble removing both teeth very quickly. Further, the receptionists were really helpful, too. Thank you all so much. If you need an extraction do not worry - this man is an expert.

Fantastic experience: I had my root canal treatment done with Mohamed Ibthigar Mohamed Isacc at Bupa Dental Care Northampton today and I am very happy with how my treatment went. Mohamed was very polite and friendly. Before he started our treatment, he explained me what he will be doing and how long it will take. I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort. He was making sure if I’m alright, whilst he was working. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: What was a real worry having to have root canal treatment was helped enormously by the Consultant Dentist, Mohamed, with his calm explanations and kindness throughout. His assistant, Dental Nurse, Imaan, was also kind and helping me to relax.

Fantastic experience: Haven’t been to the dentist in a very long time due to a traumatic experience. Struggled for a long time to find someone for an emergency appointment but this dentist was fast acting, provided expert treatment and very accommodating. So grateful for all the team there!

Fantastic experience: Bupa has been amazing. I've been with the company for years. They try their hardest to get you an appointment ASAP and they are always sympathetic to your issues. I've had several dentists during my time there and they have all been brilliant. The receptionists are so warm and friendly and welcoming especially Ann she is like the oracle! I will never leave the practice!

Fantastic experience: Really happy with my experience at Bupa, I have long suffered with dentistry problems and at the start of the month I was at my wits end, not sleeping and in constant pain and nothing was helping. I decided to call Bupa and go private as I was struggling to get an NHS dentist and I’m so glad I did. I didn’t always have the best experience which put me off going but from the initial call, both appointments I’ve attended for extractions, and a third at short notice on a Saturday due to developing an infection, I couldn’t be happier. Special mention to Anne on reception who was so friendly, a real asset and Shiv, my dentist, for the care and compassion, and improving my quality of life. I will be continuing my course of treatment with Bupa and would recommend to all. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Rang at 8am, got straight through to a lovely lady who said she would ring me back. Got a call back with an appointment that morning. Dentist (Shiv) was very nice and reassuring and I can honestly say I never felt a thing. Staff were all very friendly and I would recommend this Surgery to anyone.

Negative experience: From the moment the receptionist answered the phone, and the way it was answered, I knew it would be an interesting call. She came across super rude, didn't have a care in the world and probably the least helpful person I think I've ever come across. Why work in an industry revolving around healthcare if you couldn't care less about helping people? Someone honestly needs a holiday.

Negative experience: I give it no stars. Don't use it. Philip is rude and treated my special needs daughter really badly. Find somewhere better

Fantastic experience: I am an NHS patient at this practice and I can honestly say that Ruth and her lovely Nurse are the best. Ruth is so gentle and patient. Negative experience: The people are in receptions they treat me very bad way Maybe because i am an asian and i can't speak good english, when i get there they told me to bring my won translator otherwise i need to cancel my appointment, i request them to help me but they denay

Negative experience: My friend is homeless I help him as much as I can, he had an abscess and went to the hospital they gave him antibiotics and referred him to this dentist as he needed the tooth removing, the tooth out was £25 which i gave to my friend he went and they took the money from him but didn't remove the tooth so he has to go again with another £25 this man is not homeless through drink or drugs and he fought for this country To be treated like this is discussing just money motivated people with no heart!

Fantastic experience: I would just like to say that Bupa Dental Care Northampton is the best dental practice I have been to up until now. Dr. Amity Mistry has received me very kindly and he was so patient with me. I was very traumatised from my previous experience with the dentist and he was that kind to first listen to my worries and fears before even starting with the process. Furthermore, he explained me every step of what he was doing which showed me that he really cares amd that he is paying attention to my traumas and fears. If just more doctors were like that one would have trust again in a health system! He showed so much professionalism, care and let me say, guy knows what he is doing. I am very thankful they kept me as their patient and now I am walking healthy ready for me next check up! If you have issues or fears please visit this place and aim for Dr. Misery if possible. Definitelly recommend!

Fantastic experience: I have always recieved excellent professional care here. I have had some extensive treatment last year, which involved been in the chair for nearly two hours in one go. The dentist explains everything to you and talk to you about what he is doing. I can put my trust in them and feel quite chilled going to appointments. No need for getting nervous. I visit this dentist on a regular basis and I can truly say they are highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Phoned up at 8 in the morning on a Saturday for emergency appointment , got seen a few hours later and resolved my issue, very good staff.

Negative experience: I called Friday afternoon asking for an emergency NHS appointment, of course none available. The receptionist was pleasant and asked me to call back tomorrow (Saturday) and hopefully there will be something available. I set my alarm for 07.59 the next morning, woke up and called exactly at 8am, no answer. I have been calling non stop back to back since 8am and it is now 9am and still no one is picking up?! I am in awful pain with my tooth and this is so frustrating! Why have a phone number available if no one is going to answer?!
