Negative experience: I complained over a year ago, having discomfort to a front crowned tooth, this has now turned to pain and dentist has no idea what to do with me, won't refer me to another dentist / practice or recommend an alternative, instead trying to push me to go private... poor service, constantly performing rushed appointments and lots of cancelled appointments. Was told by the dentist if I chose to have the work done under the NHS, I should only expect around a 60 % success rate. In other words - GO private

Fantastic experience: Everyone is friendly. I have been visiting there for a number of years since moving from their Waltham x practice. During this time I have had 3 different Dentist and am now on my 4th. Each Dentist has been friendly, calming and approachable. Your needs and any anxieties are taken into consideration. I have had good relationships with all of them. Each treatment plan is discussed at length with you & explained. The practice is always immaculately clean & tidy. There is also parking very near to the practice. I personally would recommend My Dentist Turners Hill.

Negative experience: I was registered with them for atleast five years and visited them numerous times for different issues. Recetly I had a dental pain and wanted to go see my dentist, they said they have deleted my NHS record/account without any notification/letter etc and said now we can't see you under NHS but we can surely see you privately for £105. The female receptionist was rude and impolite, no empathy and no respect for patients. Terrible service, rude reception staff and seems like they are open to make money privately and via NHS, they don't care about patients, it's business at its best.
Hi Azaz, Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologise for any inconvenience you may have experienced. NHS dentistry contracts changed in England in 2006, any patient ‘registration’ to a specific dental practice was removed. Dentistry now works differently to General Practice, where patients are registered to a specific GP surgery, in dentistry patients are free to move between dental practices to obtain treatment, so long as the practice they wish to attend has NHS capacity. As a dental practice our NHS contractual obligation is only therefore to a patient during an open course of treatment. When a patient has treatment such as Crowns, Bridges and dentures, the treatment is covered under guarantee for a period of 1 year. Outside of these a dental practice does not have any obligation to continue to offer NHS care to a person.
We have always tried to offer continuity of care, and therefore decided to create an ‘active list’, on which we keep patients for 2-year period after their last attendance for a check-up or treatment (this does not include emergency only appointments). At your last check-up, the dentist will have advised when you should next attend, this is usually either 6 or 12 months, it is then the responsibility of the patient to make sure they book this next check-up. Failure to do so, will result in removal from the practice books, to create space for the growing waiting list of patients trying to access NHS dentistry.
Under the NHS contract, as patients do not hold any registration with a specific dental practice, the practice has no obligation to tell a patient when they can no longer offer them treatment. We also have no obligation to recall patients for appointments.
I understand it may be disappointing to hear that we cannot accommodate you as an NHS patient at this time. You can contact the Practice and be included ion the witing list for NHS care.

Unfortunately, as this practice is currently at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are unable to offer your child an NHS place. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options. These options are offered outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. Where alternative options are available, we will always offer these as an alternative. This allows patients to make an informed choice on their dental care.

Negative experience: On this occasion, I found the Dentist (maternity cover) rather cold and unsympathetic to my situation. I had arranged an emergency appt due to pain and discomfort from a crowned tooth. After an xray I was given two treatment options but no suggestions on how i should manage the pain in the immediate days to come. I was told that I had a stage 4 bacterial infection but when I requested anti biotics to help with this until treatment could be offered, I was told by the dentist that they have strict guidelines around prescribing anti biotics but did not explain what these restrictions were. Instead, I was given a leaflet on gum health and told to go home and make a decision on which treatment option I'd prefer and let the Practice know. I felt very unsupported and would think twice about returning to this Dental Practice for further treatment. Considering the fees they charge for dental treatment, I would have expected a better service.
