Welcome to mydentist Reading, also known as the Reading Dental Practice, a 5-surgery practice in the Tilehurst area of Reading. You can find us in the Meadway Shopping Centre, just next to the Sue Ryder charity shop and only a minute away from the Asda superstore. We are providers of both NHS and Private treatments, including our myoptions affordable private scheme for more flexible appointments, without the private price tag. Some of our available treatments include teeth straightening (Invisalign, Clear Correct & Six Month Smile) and Implants, Teeth Whitening and Hygiene appointments.

Positive experience: Nice dental practice. Convenient location. Fairly friendly, helpful staff. Good dentist, treatment is good, I have visited for some years. There is however a more upsell of more private treatments eg posters etc If I had not taken out an insurance (which goes up every year) I was unable to get an appointment under NHS, it is a 2 tiered system.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a filling on one of my upper rear molars by another Reading dental practice which began to give me severe pain following the procedure, when I returned I was told to leave it to settle for 4 weeks and come back if required despite explaining the pain and discomfort I was experiencing. I contacted my dentist which is local to me and was referred to Dr Asma who assessed my condition and gave me antibiotics for 5 days to treat a possible infection. My pain and discomfort continued which forced me to contact my dentist again on Saturday morning and I was immediately given an appointment. Asma and her assistant was happy to help and drained my tooth releasing the pain, she explained the process in detail and despite having other patents she took the time and effort to relieve my irritation and ensure I was pain free. Fantastic experience: Thank you so much for today. I hold my hands up, I am terrified of needles. Not scared of the drill though which is interesting. From phoning up in advance to let them know of my worries and then walking into reception I was at ease. Harjinder applied some numbing gel and talked me through everything that she did. Harjinder and Sylwia reminded me to breath when they put the needles in! Hardly felt a thing. They repeatedly asking if i was ok. At one point when they were doing the filling part I could have nodded off! Even during the procedure Harjinder was ensuring I did not feel any pain. Anesthetic takes a while to work on me and she did not try and hurry anything up. She even applied more when I looked in more discomfort part way through the procedure. They confirmed multiple times that might bite felt normal afterwards. I would normally only go to a dentist when there was something that obviously needed doing however I will now return every 6 months. Thank you for today Harjinder and Sylwia

Fantastic experience: I visited My Dentist, The meadway, Reading on Saturday for an emergency appointment. Upon making the call to the clinic, the receptionist was lovely and booked me in with Asma. I had a fractured tooth that had half fallen out and was in a lot of pain and extremely anxious. When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed with a big smile by Sylvia who was Asma’s assistant. Asma listened to me and understood how anxious I was. She was extremely patient and took her time to numb me up and make me feel at ease. Sylvia also did the same. I expected to lose my tooth but was told it could be saved and using composite bonding Asma rebuilt my tooth. I couldn’t believe what a wonderful job she had done and how natural it looked. The standard of care I received was above and beyond along with the care and support they both gave me whilst having my treatment. Going forward, I will be using My dentist permanently because of my experience. I’d like to thank Asma and Sylvia for their kindness, patience and high quality of dentistry.

Negative experience: If I could give two ratings, I would. The hygienists here have always been excellent, the dentists are what gives this a 1*. The rush, lack of care or guidance for taking children (2 under 3) had been horrendous and encouraged a fear in our eldest. We're changing dentists given this experience.

Negative experience: I’ve been an NHS patient of Mydentist since 2017. At some point completely behind my back I was struck off the NHS list by this company and was charged private rates. I did not receive any letter or text about it. I was not even made aware by their receptionists that I was subsequently being charged private rates at the time when I was paying. I only realised something was wrong when I was hit with the treatment plan of £633 at my last checkup appointment and then researched the NHS dental fees. Its unaffordable, my monthly income is less than that. This misleading way they have treated me amounts to fraud.
We are sorry to receive your 1 star review but can see from our records that practice are aware of your concerns and have requested this to be put in writing and they can look into this. For your information letters were sent to your clinicians patients advising them of the move to private only status and asking if you would be willing to stay with the clinician or would like an alternative back in May 2024, since this you have attended with the clinician a further 4 times and paid as a private patient.
The practice will await your email/letter and respond as soon as possible in line with our complaints procedures.

Positive experience: Very pleased, saw Ansu who is lovely, My only complaint is that although Ansu said that she doesn’t need to see me for a year, reception asked me to pay in advance for the appointment because it is their policy, it is not my policy to pay for something I haven’t had, especially not a year in advance! so asked them to cancel and I will put a reminder in my own diary. Not amused!

Negative experience: Very poor service. I paid £500 for an enlighten whitening system to be told I can't buy any more gels unless I have a check-up! Although explaining I have another NHS dentist where I get my regular check-ups and only used MyDentist for whitening because of finance options available. This place is all about money and basically they have ripped me off £500 because i cant complete my treatment with them unless i pay for a check-up which is charged at a private price. It turns out my other NHS dentist does the same whitening and have said no problem to getting more gel from them having agreed that I have received extremely poor customer service from MyDentist.

If I could just explain that no clinician will offer whitening or any other treatment without performing an examination, the clinician has to assess whether or not the product you are asking for is suitable and what the potential results would be as well as making sure you do not have any dental problems that could interfere with the treatment. Your own clinician will be able to offer it because they will have performed the examination and know all about your dental health.

Negative experience: Registered as NHS patient only to be told I'm now a private patient now and gonna pay hundreds to fix a bodged up crown that they put in and fell out within 11 months!!!! But low and behold the dentist that did it no longer works there and I would have to pay another £500 to have I fixed!!!! Disgusting service!! If I'm going private I'm gonna pay someone who is gonna be there after treatment just incase there is a problem!!!!

I can see from your record that you had a private patient appointment with us in January 2024 and prior to this had not attended the surgery since 2018 and any treatment you had was in 2016. We have not been made aware of any issues you had at this time and the clinician left the practice in 2020. Any treatment that is offered at this time will be on a private basis as the practice is at full capacity for NHS appointments.

Negative experience: Never used their actual services but one of their patients has given them my email address by mistake, so I get all the reminder and follow up messages. I have reached out to them multiple times to try and get them to remove my email from their records but they haven't fixed it. This indicates that they are not very careful with personal information about their actual patients.

Negative experience: Awful experience. Had a filling replaced by Hajinder, she left me with a locked jaw and in acute pain. Called today to get some advice and help, was told my dentist was away until Monday, the manager was away until Wednesday, and I would have to pay an additional £95 for an emergency appointment. Heartless. It was much better when Raj was there, he’d be ashamed of how his patients were being treated now. 27/12/24 it has taken this long to get a response to this review - speaks volumes about the quality of the service from this dentist practice

Fantastic experience: Good service, my appointment for a check up was on time and I was given a clean and polish in request. On noticing that I had some sensitivity during the cleaning, Dr George used a gentler technique and gave me something to numb the teeth. In the past I just suffered in silence. Good visit and I will be back as usual in 6 months.

Negative experience: Please can you enlighten me as to why I have been charged £1400+ for a top denture when I know the lab only charged the practice £99. I took my own impression to the lab today and read the paperwork which clearly states how much they charged, so you make people pay extortionate fees upfront knowing you are ripping people off.

Negative experience: My appointment was changed 3 times. Then, on the day, I was kept waiting 20 minutes after my appointment was due. If I'd been 20 minutes late, I'm sure I would have been penalised. As a private patient, which I had to concede to with no choice, I now have to pay for this poor service. To cap it off my dentist now only works 3 days a week, so getting to see them when it's convenient to me is not easy like I was told would be a benefit of being a private patient.
