Everyone was incredibly friendly and helped me to feel a lot more comfortable. I had a few problems with my gum health, but the Hygienist, Catherine and Dental Nurse, Kate did an incredible job with my treatment. I now have great advice from the team so that moving forward I can keep my gums in good health.

I’ve been seeing Nicola since the practice opened, I have seen a few dentists in my time but with Nicola I always had the best experience and won’t go anywhere else now! This practice has completely changed how I feel about dentists. I used to dread the idea of seeing a dentist, now it’s just part of my routine so thank you guys! I have a check up and hygienist every three months through their monthly plan which keeps my dental hygiene on point and it’s one less thing to think about in life, I would definitely recommend this plan. I don’t know anyone who enjoys going to the dentist but somehow they make it possible. You just have to experience yourself! Nicola is outstanding at what she does and she is genuinely caring and the hygienist’s are truly the best, I have massive respect for Jane, Catherine and Jamie every hygienist is truly gifted with their own unique style! They are all excellent in keeping your teeth and gums to the tee without feeing uncomfortable at any point during the session and provide great advice too! Not sure why I waited this long to write a review but the whole team deserve the recognition for their great work on running a great practice Over the years I’ve recommended this practice to friends and family and every one has had the same great experience! I’ll stop rumbling on about their praises but if you’re genuinely concerned about seeing a dentist, don’t! And check them out! They won’t disappoint!

Fantastic experience: As someone who is extremely anxious about going to the dentist I managed a full 1hr appointment last week with the lovely Jane and Nas.They were both so kind and reassuring throughout and didn't belittle my anxiety in any way.They also did a great job cleaning my teeth !I highly recommend this practice if you are anxious about the dentist as they really go out of their way to help in any way they can..Many thanks ladies from Liz.

Fantastic experience: I joined this dental surgery when I was a student. Now, around 30 years later, my whole family uses this surgery. They are simply wonderful. There is always a smile at the door, you never feel rushed, and the dental and hygienist services are second to none. There have been a couple of dental emergencies in those 30 years (children’s playground accidents!), and I am so grateful to Nicola for seeing us so quickly and being so reassuring. I cannot recommend the team highly enough. I am more than happy to put my mouth in their hands

A friend recommended them when I mentioned how anxious I was (and have always been) about visiting a dentist and hygienist. Nicola, Jane and Nas always put me at ease straightaway. They clearly explain what they’re doing and check in throughout each procedure to make sure I’m okay. Their friendly and reassuring approach has really helped to reduce my anxiety.

Fantastic experience: My husband and I are a retired couple from Nortern Ireland. During lock down in 2020 we stayed with our daughter and family in Caerphilly. They were all patients of West Grove dental so when my husband had a problem with an implant we contacted Nicola who saw him and solved his problem very quickly. So in 2022 when we made the lifechanging decision to move to Cardiff we wasted no time in registering with West Grove dental. The surgery itself is beautifully clean and bright which makes waiting time a comfortable experience. Fantastic experience: Came in today for a Hygeine appointment, receptionist Lauren was lovely on arrival, and I had an excellent routinely clean with Catherine as always, and Haj. All the staff are incredible here, very welcoming!

Negative experience: I was a private patient at Nicola’s practice for over three years. After moving to a new area, I joined a different dental practice—and it was only then that I realised certain aspects of Nicola’s care fell short. Check-ups with Nicola typically lasted no more than 5–6 minutes. In contrast, my new dentist spends at least 20 minutes during routine check-ups, providing a much more thorough examination. They also identified issues with some of the fillings I’d previously had done—small gaps had been left, which were trapping food. I’ve since had those fillings redone and noticed a significant improvement. My partner also attended Nicola’s practice for a short period but felt she was disengaged. Perhaps, after many years in the profession, some of the personal touch has faded. By comparison, my new dentist is approachable, attentive, and open to questions—qualities I didn’t feel were present in my experience with Nicola. That said, I do want to highlight that the other staff at the practice—especially the dental nurses and Ben, the oral surgeon—have always been excellent and are a real credit to the team. I also had the chance to be seen by another dentist at the practice, Charlotte, when Nicola was away. She was absolutely brilliant. If you’re considering joining this practice, I would highly recommend being placed under Charlotte’s care

Fantastic experience: I recently joined Nicola Taff dental after a period without an NHS dentist. She was reassuring, and came up with a treatment plan that worked for me, and was flexible around work and other commitments. Their opening hours are great for busy people, and all the staff are friendly, reassuring and professionals- from the moment you want in at reception you are made to feel at ease. They were quick to see me for emergency appointments and treated me well and offered great advice and dental plans.

Fantastic experience: I am so so grateful for the team at West Grove. Having previously had a dentist phobia, following a number of awful experiences, I approached Nicola and the team pretty much terrified and in full flight or fight mode. But, they welcomed me warmly, put me at ease and took me on a trust building journey. Ten years on, I can now go to check ups and have treatment without trepidation and all the team, much of whom welcomed me all those years ago, still welcome me today with the same warmth and enthusiasm. I will forever be grateful for the team at West Grove.

Fantastic experience: I went to West Grove Dental after neglecting my teeth for more than a decade. They've been consistently straightforward - including about treatment plans and costs - and non-judgemental. I've since had work undertaken by Dr Saira Safdar across several appointments, and Dr Safdar has made this as physically and emotionally painless as I could have hoped for.

Fantastic experience: Our nearly 11 year old needed four extractions in advance of his brace being fitted next April. We visited Nicola Taaffe on West Grove this morning and were seen by Ben. Our lad was understandably anxious but Ben went above and beyond to calm him and assure him that, although he was the patient he was in charge of things. Our boy was tearful but confident in Ben’s care to allow all four extractions in one visit, negating the need for a further appointment. I’m immensely proud of our son. Within a few short hours he’s pretty much recovered (calpol assisted) and enjoying extra cwtches with mum & dad. Huge thanks to Ben and his assistant (I didn’t catch her name) but both are a credit to their profession.

Fantastic experience: I can not speak highly enough of West Grove Dental Surgery, having been with them for over 20 years, Nicola and her team are always extremely professional and friendly whilst caring and understanding of patient needs. At first I was extremely nervous and opted for their sedation treatment, but over the years they have helped to build my confidence and overcome any worries I had that I no longer need a sedation treatment. A five star treatment is always received

Fantastic experience: I had dental implant which was carried out by Ben who I've been a patient of for several years and I have to say, is the best dentist I've ever encountered. The latest dental implant is amazing and looks and feels like my own tooth. Highly recommended. Also the surgery has excellent opening hours and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. I was apprehensive with going to the dentist,and pending heart surgery 2 weeks later. but dr charlotte was very friendly and highly professional,i would not use any other dentist in future. and would highly recommend dr charlotte. I would also say the same about the hygienist i seen milly,again friendly,professional. and caring.
