Negative experience: Don't deserve even 1 star! The attitude i had from the receptionist was terrible. My daughter was having a panic attack (because she was nervous) so we had to leave. We were told very rudely that we wouldn't be able to go back there. Wouldn't recommend to anyone. Avoid this place definitely.

Negative experience: Absolutely scandalous! I thought they were there to help you not rip you off! I've paid nearly £700 and still not had my issue sorted. I had to pay money just to register before even being seen, then I had to pay extra for an X-Ray, then Pay extra to see a Hygienist, then was asked to come back the week after for an extraction and arrange another visit to the Hygienist for a deep clean. When I got there the reception asked me to go and see reception upstairs, went to reception upstairs told them what I was there for, they just told me to wait and the Dentist will come out, I had the extraction and was told to come back next week for the Deep Clean. Nobody at both receptions asked me for any more money, neither did it mention anything in the text messages reminding me of the appointment with the Hygienist. So I just turned up as normal for my appointment, when the reception said that the Hygienist won't see you as you owe £59 and will need to make another £150 to see the Hygienist. Not once was I told about this extra cost, I thought I had paid everything when reception were asking me to constantly pay for extra treatment. Plus not once did the main reception or the upstairs reception ask me for the £59 the week before. So where had that extra cost come from? Not only that I have received a letter from a Debt Collection agency asking for the money. Disgusting treatment from them and I'm somebody whose even asked for NHS treatment but you've just kept trying to fleece me out of even more money. Disgraceful

Jacqi and Sadie are such helpful receptionists and very professional women. I never call the call centre anymore, I just show up to book my appointments or for any help I needed. It’s easier and faster. My dentist is Vas and he is the best dentist. He is so friendly he makes you feel relaxed, he’s funny which helps ease your time at the dentist. He’s always done his absolute best for me and my daughter. He goes above and beyond for all his patients.

Negative experience: I booked an emergency appt at this location( only to discover there were free appts that day ) & paid the excess. I was told that the problem was an abscess and I required root canal work. £800 or £1100. On top of the £100 or so for the emergency appointment. I had a secondary infection , so visited the GP, whom recommend I get (asap) the abscess removed and root canal fixed. The dentist @ my dentist, whom had told me to call them back & ask for her specifically, was not returning any of the calls over the next 4-5 days and multiple phone calls. I then made an appointment with another dentist out of sheer frustration, they told me I didn't need root canal work at all. They referred me into the 2 week cancer screening NHS system. The dentist at the dental hospital told me there was no need for root canal, they also took x-rays, I was referred to oral surgery to have what was. now called 'a growth' removed. Pending biopsy results as of today. I've have now complained to MyDentist , asking for a minimum refund of the check up costs. Three weeks, they haven't answered( aside from a 'soz' we will take a look waffle. One can make their own decision on this dentist and visit their at their leisure and risk, my experience. Not good.

Negative experience: Absolutely outrageous. My wife had an appointment today to get a broken tooth fixed. She's already had the first appointment that obviously costs an arm and a leg. She's waited a week since then and paid the full price for the work needed. Walked all the way there in the rain this morning just to be told her appointment has been cancelled. She's lost half a day at work for no reason at all. How on earth is this acceptable? You have her money and no guarantee that the rescheduled appointment (over a week later and after our holiday) won't be cancelled too? Dentists are the car mechanics of medicine, NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Negative experience: So at 48 years of age and and a patient at this practice and the East st branch for over 30 years, going all the way back to Mr A Gardner. I have missed 2 appointments and been red flagged.After I have had a massive life changing issues in the last year and explaining this, I have been cancelled by poppy a dentist I have only seen 3 or 4 times and Before this I had a different dentist for every appointment for about 3 years. Very poor customer service.

Negative experience: Absolute joke of a company. I paid the £65 upfront for a new patient appointment. I had to cancel last minute due to work, but made sure I phoned them and then would rebook when back in Bristol. I called today and they will not let me rebook without paying another £65! In a cost of living crisis, where I'm sure they're doing fine, it is an absolute piss-take to take someone's money and then not let them rebook because "computer says no". £65 is a lot of money to me and now I'm going to have to wait another month with toothache before I can rebook another appointment. Uncompassionate money grabbers . Don't go here people - there are other dentists in Bristol that will let you rebook with the money you've already paid them.

Negative experience: All my family 5 of us including myself has been registered with them for over 12 years,,last year I had tooth ache and call them for appointment, surprisingly find out that I am out of the patient list because haven't attended the practice for over 2 years, I was desperate for dentist and I had to go as a private patient, it's funny how quickly they found a appointment available, cost me 240 pounds for tooth extraction, I'm on the waiting list now for nhs dental practice with them AWT is 4 years,absolutely disgusting experience
We are sorry to read your comments in relation to NHS availability, we have noted that it is just yourself who has not attended regular appointments with the practice and that the rest of the family are still with us for their NHS dentistry. Should a patient not attend a practice for more than 2 years it is assumed that they have found alternate arrangements and they will no longer be attending, as you have not attended since 2020 your place is no longer available. Please be assured that our private appointment slots are offered outside of any NHS contracted hours. Should a place become available on the NHS we will offer to those on our waiting lists.

Negative experience: My partner took my 5 year old son for an appointment with the dentist poppy. Absolutely disgusting behaviour as it seemed she did not have time to reassure a 5 year old to relax and it’ll be okay. Very judgmental woman with rudeness in a profession where you’d think you would need abit of sympathy. Happy to take peoples money for a check up but refuse to help a problem

Fantastic experience: I had the best care for my tooth before extraction and post extraction courtsey Jacob. The treatment coordinador Rosie was very kind. She made sure I was ok and well and always checking up on me. It was a wonderful experience even though it took alot of month for my dentist to book me in, but it was worth it in the end. I was drowning in pain, I think they should do better and I was changed alot of money for my extraction. Wasn't Happy about that.

Positive experience: Until recent years an absolutely tip top dentists. It has dropped a star as waiting times for 6 month appointments have become more an 8 or 9 month gap. Lots of stuff about extra treatments you can have above and beyond your check up, bit the staff still all have personable friendly manners that make you not only at ease but feel listened too Vasileos is my dentist, been so for 21 yeas, absolutely no complaints there, a genuinely caring, friendly chap. He gets 5 ☆

Fantastic experience: I have a lot of dental anxiety and was very nervous to get work done. However, I had Eric who was an absolutely lovely and caring character - making sure I was always at ease, going into great detail about what he was doing and when and all round being amazing. His dental nurses were absolutely lovely too, always checking in and not making me feel embarrassed ! Greatly appreciated and has made me much less of a nervous patient after only a few appointments with him :) I can’t remember her name (im sorry !!) but she was a dental nurse with blonde hair and lovellyy lash extensions and she was super super patient and lovely !!

Fantastic experience: The receptionists were very helpful in arranging an emergency appointment for me, to fix a hole at the base of a front tooth and sensitivity with it ,ahead of an imminent eye operation under general anaesthetic. Christina was wonderful and quickly fixed the lost filling together with some xrays and general check up. Brilliant and efficient service all round .

Fantastic experience: I visited mydentist at 8.00am suffering severe pain from a previously broken molar and was given an appointment at 10.30. Following X-rays I was advised that an extraction would be necessary and offered the option of having it there and then. I won't say it was a bundle of fun but I emerged from the surgery not long after 11.00 minus the offending tooth. Having heard all the recent horror stories about lengthy waiting times to see dentists, and not previously being a mydentist patient, I was greatly relieved to be treated so promptly and effectively. Big thanks to all of the staff, particularly Eric who did such a great job.

Negative experience: I’m so devastated to be writing a bad review after having this place as my dentist for over 10 years. They cancelled my appointment which I had booked in for over 6 months and I had already paid half towards it and when I rang up to get another one booked in the closest they could give me was 10 months away. I understand that the NHS is stretched enough as it is but seeing as this was at no fault of my own and I’m now having to wait 16 months before I’m able to see the dentist again just for a check up is absolutely shocking. I’m so upset, they’re getting ready to privatise everything so they just want to mess with the people who haven’t got the money to pay for private. Absolute shame.

Fantastic experience: 4.5 stars The Good: I've had an extremely positive experience with this practice, where I had some extensive reconstruction work done. I've a terrible needle phobia which put me off seeing a dentist for so long. Shout out to Natalya, who was first to realise that my mouth wasn't a lost cause and it could be restored in my budget. Also George did some fantastic recovery work, he was brilliant! I have to give the most Gratitude to Reema and Cammile. The two of them went above and beyond in taking care of me, they kept me sane and calm throughout the whole process. There were some very easy consultations, and I had full control over the extent of work. I was never pressured into an option that wasn't right for me. Needless to say I'm very pleased with the outcome of Reema's work. This practice has some incredibly talented staff, and would do well to hold on to them! The Bad: Felt like the dentists were always rushed about, they need time to properly recover after sessions. I also had to wait around longer than I would have liked on a few occasions(20-40mins). That said, thank you so much for giving me a smile again!

Negative experience: I rate this 1 star for a reason I went in earlier today to have a filling done and saw mark he gave me two options for anasetic or no I choose no and then he said if u change Ur mind then put ur hand up at the start of the filling I put my hand up as it was getting sore and he said ok and said he'd put the anasetic in he carried on where he was and never gave me no anasetic to numb it and I am now in more pain then I was when I got my last filling done I don't know If I will go to my next appointment aswell

Negative experience: My dentist left the practice last year and I was told that I would receive confirmation when a new dentist starts however I have been trying to get an appointment and when I try I’m told that the wait will be months as they are working there way through patients and only seeing those for routine appointments meaning they will not see anyone who has a more urgent need for an appointment and the only way to be seen is to see a private dentist
As you may be aware, we do have several dentist vacancies at your practice and are actively trying to recruit. Unfortunately, recruitment of dentist’s post pandemic is proving extremely difficult. There is a shortage of dentists in the UK which is making attracting dentists to certain areas of the country more difficult and we are experiencing challenges in recruiting to the area. However, we are looking at all options to attract and re-locate dentists to your practice. Please be assured that the vacancies are not through any lack of trying or apathy on our part, purely that recruiting dentists, is proving difficult.
However, whilst we are recruiting, if you experience a dental emergency, e.g. pain, swelling or bleeding then you can still contact the practice and they will triage your symptoms and advise you how obtain emergency assistance until the practice is fully staffed.

Negative experience: I've been there to ask an appointment for a free hygiene through NHS because I'm with Universal Credit benefits and a young receptionist has told me that hygiene is only private. I've asked her if she was sure because I've received that service through the Nacional health service for free in Gloucester by receiving benefits from U.C. more than once and she assure me that in Bristol is not through NHS. Only private. I've found out and that is not true. Embarrassing.

As per the NHS "Hygienists can only provide hygiene appointments on open access on a private basis, and you should check the cost of the treatment before booking an appointment. If your dentist says a scale and polish is not clinically necessary but you want one anyway, you will have to pay for it privately"
If you have your own NHS dentist a scale and polish would be included in your Band 1 treatment with examination but only if clinically necessary.
I would advise that you speak with your own practice who will advise on a course of treatment, this practice does offer direct access hygiene but it is indeed on a private basis.

Negative experience: This was my dentist back in 2019-2020 when I lived in Bristol. I had 2 fillings done here. One filling fell out at the start of Covid, and due to moving I couldn't find a dentist. 2 years later, that tooth has now been extracted due to an infection in the filling that fell out. I'm 28, and now have to deal with having a large gap in my mouth. 1 week after having my tooth extracted, the OTHER filling I got done at this establishment has fallen out, and there's an infection underneath, meaning I need to pay private prices to get this sorted before another extraction. All other fillings I've ever had have stayed in for 15+ years, but fillings from this dentist have lasted 1-3 years. Absolutely shocking. I had a dentist tell me the other day my teeth are in fantastic condition despite some old fillings, the only problems I have are caused by MyDentist on Wells Road. EDIT: In reply to the practice's comments. I was a patient with you, but during Covid you removed me from your business because I didn't attend an appointment due to lockdown. So I will not remove my review, as it was with you, and I'm dealing with issues to this day. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Just had a wisdom tooth extracted. I have to say, Mark is a GENIUS! The injections were nothing - painless, even the nasty one. Then the tooth was out in a matter of seconds. Negative experience: Have been an NHS patient here for a number of years. Was unable to get seen throughout covid for obvious reasons, and following COVID I made multiple attempts to book an appointment but was told they were still only seeing emergency patients as I guess there was a backlog. Eventually it got to a stage where appointments opened back up and when I tried to book (with my children as I now have 2 children under 3) I was told that as I have not been for a checkup in 2.5 years I am no longer registered and I would have to pay as a private patient, even my children would pay. I feel extremely let down by this dentist, as I used them despite other people advising me not to, but as I live local it was convenient. Avoid, unless you are being seen as an NHS patient.
We are very sorry to receive your 1 star review, as we do not have your details we are unable to investigate your issue. The practice itself has been opened for standard appointments following COVID since October 2020 and therefore there should have been no issues with booking examinations from this time.
Just for information ; If a patient does not attend the practice for a 2-year period they can be removed from the practice list, this was increased to 2 years and 6 months due to COVID. If we do not hear from a patient in this time, we must assume they are being seen elsewhere for their oral hygiene check-ups. At your last check-up, the dentist will have advised when you should next attend, this is usually either 6 or 12 months, it is then the responsibility of the patient to make sure they book this next check-up at the given time. Failure to do so, will result in removal from the practice books, in order to create space for the growing waiting list of patients trying to access NHS dentistry.
