Negative experience: What an absolute joke this practice is . I’ve tried to get an emergency appointment because of a suspected infection !! Been in agony for over a week and a half! Would not see me and would have had to of waited for my routine appointment in march . But I could pay private and be seen . They have now cancelled my appointment for march and made one for April . What an absolute joke!! Had to resort to buying my own antibiotics online !! Would give it no stars but would not allow me to post this comment otherwise!
Fantastic experience: I’ve recently had cosmetic dental treatment with Dr Helen Fullstone, all I can say is I wish I had found Helen sooner! She is incredible, along with her dental nurse Lucia, both make you feel completely welcome & at ease throughout & always involving you completely in the decision process. Fantastic experience: My daughter had to have teeth removed the dentist was very friendly and made her feel relaxed when in the chair and the assistant in the room was also so lovely and made my daughter feel very relaxed. Only bad experience about it was the price to have the 2 teeth removed £380 which I think is very expensive. But apart from that very lovely experience

Negative experience: Had a check up on NHS with Robert Smith and raised a concern that my front teeth were chipping due to wear and tear, was told by Robert Smith that I would need to see a Specialist and he could not help??? Ended up going private at another Dental Surgery who were very surprised at this comment and said It was a simple process of having 2 crowns. Reviews on Facebook for this dental practice are awful and is currently being investigated by Steven Kinock the local MP regarding some of its behaviour towards customers.
Thank you for your feedback. Our priority is always to explain each patient’s dental condition and all available treatment options clearly. At your appointment over 12 months ago, Dr Davies offered a referral to specialist treatment. The advice was that some other treatment first would help give you the best chance of long-term success for future dental treatment and be beneficial before placing crowns. We of course respected your decision not to proceed with the referral offered. It’s also important to note that individual dentists have differing scopes of practice and may offer different clinical opinions. Patients are always welcome to source a second opinion. We have not had any contact from Mr Kinnock, but with your permission, if approached by him or his office, we would be happy to discuss your treatment with him.

Negative experience: To Whom It May Concern, Subject: Formal Complaint Regarding Emergency Dental Appointment with Robert Davis – My Dentist, Port Talbot I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding the treatment I received during an emergency dental appointment arranged through NHS 111. The appointment was scheduled at My Dentist in Port Talbot with Dentist Robert Davis. I am currently 33 weeks pregnant and have been experiencing persistent and painful dental issues for the past two weeks. Upon arrival at the clinic, it was immediately apparent that Mr. Davis was in a rush and eager to conclude the consultation as quickly as possible. He took an X-ray and diagnosed an infection in one of my teeth. As I am already on antibiotics that have not been effective, I asked to proceed with a tooth extraction, one of the two options he had provided. Before the procedure, I politely asked if I could use the toilet. To my shock, Mr. Davis refused, stating that it was an emergency 15-minute appointment and he had "plenty of people waiting." As a heavily pregnant woman, being denied access to a toilet was not only inappropriate but also potentially discriminatory. When I asked, calmly and without aggression, why I was being treated in such a manner, Mr. Davis abruptly told me to leave, stating that he would not treat me because of “the way I spoke” to him. I was not rude, did not raise my voice, and certainly did not swear. I merely asked why I was being refused access to basic facilities and felt humiliated and dismissed at a time when I was in significant pain and in a vulnerable condition due to my pregnancy. What makes this situation even more distressing is that: I was subjected to an X-ray while pregnant – a procedure generally avoided unless absolutely necessary. After the X-ray, I was refused treatment, which means I will likely have to undergo another X-ray elsewhere, increasing my exposure unnecessarily. I am now left without resolution to my dental issue and in ongoing pain. I have previously been a private patient at this clinic and paid for several appointments, but was treated without dignity when seeking NHS care. This level of care, or lack thereof, is deeply concerning. Mr. Davis demonstrated no duty of care or professionalism, and his behavior was not only dismissive but also discriminatory and inappropriate given my medical condition. I request that this complaint be formally investigated, and that I receive a written response detailing the outcome of this investigation and what steps will be taken to ensure that no other patient is treated in this way again. Negative experience: I used My dentist for a wisdom tooth extraction, I was recommended Dr Gross, consult was £85 which was less than a few minutes long and they cancelled my appointment without telling me 3 times but finally 6 months later, i arrived at my appointment with Dr Gross, he was late arriving, and called me in 20 mins after my appointment time, there was no discussion, no explanation to what he was about to do, just asked me what i was in for, questioned the reason why it needed to be removed and then cracked on, this made me feel uneasy, i didn’t feel comfortable to start with, and could of done with some understanding of the procedure and what to expect etc. Anyway, I get numbed up and they start extraction, during the yanking, i mentioned that it was hurting the opposite side of my jaw. i suffer with TMJ and was concerned, was hoping for some understanding, he stopped and looked and me and just said what you want me to do? stop? it was very abrupt and felt it’s best i just sit back be quiet and just allow him to carry on, this made me feel so uneasy i couldn’t help but cry slightly. the tooth was removed but the roots i think snapped (wasn’t explained to me) he just just the tooth’s out but the roots are still in there but i wont get them out cos your in too much pain, told me to rinse handed me a piece of paper with information what to expect and sent me on my way. I left feeling violated, uneasy about the whole situation, unaware of what was done, what wasn’t done, why roots were left in, what to expect? and didn’t have a clue if i needed a follow up or not. For a private practice this really wasn’t the service i was expecting. anyway that was saturday morning, within 24 hours i was in severe pain, waiting till monday to call and question this to see if it was normal, i was told he wasn’t in and if i wanted to be seen id need to pay £125 for an emergency appointment. I waited until tuesday to see Ragu, the receptionist was very difficult when i tried to book something on tuesday, again not sure why but i ended up visiting tuesday 525pm he seen me cleaned it and told me the pain was normal and made a comment about my pain threshold and how it must just be me, i went home and again continued to be in agony, thursday morning, i couldn’t continue with the pain, it wasn’t gettin any easier and was struggling with the amount of pain relief i was taking, so called and asked if i could be seen, once again Ragu wasn’t available, so this time i had to pay £125 to be seen, I seen Farzana Mohammad, she was lovely very caring welcoming, she was concerned about the roots left in, took x-rays and mentioned she really wants them removed to promote safe healing, she checked the wound cleaned it and packed it due to dry socket, she told me she was discus with her manager the best way to move forward for the root removal and that she would call me back by end of day, I have not heard from her. After this visit I visited again, as the pain was getting worse, radiating into my ear jawline and neck, but yet again Dr Gross told me my pain was normal and that there was no need to keep coming back! I decided to seek another dentist practice to see if someone else would give me a second opinion, low and behold, the new dentist, diagnosed me with an infection in my lower jaw around the roots that’s Dr Gross left in, and failed to check on multiple post check ups when I was complaining of extreme pain. I made a complaint to the Practice Manager who had no interest in resolving this matter or less I kept paying each time, she wouldn’t talk to me on the phone, only email, which took days at a time to reply, all her responses faved the Dr Gross even through its clearly Patient negligence. This dentist is only interested in making money and i’d highly recommend you spend yours elsewhere

Negative experience: Service is good but the costs are ridiculous. Don't have any work done here without speaking to other dentists as it costs at least double what other dentists charge

The costs of delivering dentistry have continued to rise and to ensure that we can continue to provide dentistry to our patients, we do need to account for these additional costs.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience with this dental practice. We clearly agreed on a specific price for a particular service before proceeding. However, when it came time to move forward, they nearly doubled the cost. They tried to claim there was a “misunderstanding,” but there was absolutely no confusion — we discussed a specific treatment and a specific price. This wasn’t a mix-up; it felt like a bait-and-switch. It’s dishonest and completely unprofessional. I would strongly caution others to get everything in writing beforehand or, better yet, avoid this place altogether. They come off more like con artists than trusted healthcare providers.

Fantastic experience: I am someone who is petrified of dentists. Having 3 teeth out with Helen Fullstone has restored my faith in dentistry after me having long term fear. The 3 injections in the front bottom gums was just a tiny pinprick and the teeth were out before I knew it. Totally pain free. Shis so gentle and such a nice person I would highly recommend her work. She is based on the Baglan Moors Port talbot and I would suggest anyone that has had a long time fear of dentists should definitely, if they can get in with her, do so. Thank you so much Helen.

What a great experience I had today… after losing half my tooth a few days ago and then the filling too… I had to find myself a dentist and had seen “my dentist” had opened in Baglan. I called and was given an emergency appointment in a few days… I went along today… was seen 10 minutes early, spoke to the dentist to explain my issue… was given an X-ray, had the treatment options explained along with viewing the X-ray results, needed a large filling so was given a numbing injection… then had the old filling area cleaned and prepared and a new filling administered. All this in under 20 minutes! I didn’t feel at all rushed, had everything explained to me clearly and it real was a fantastic experience start to finish… right from the initial message and follow up phone call… an excellent experience throughout… thank you to my dentist’s Saira Safdar… and my dental nurse… I’m sorry not to have caught your name. I’ve already recommended the practice to friends and will continue to do so…

Fantastic experience: I have been treated by Salah over the past 8 months having extractions, fillings, dentures, crowns and I am delighted with the results. It has been a very intense journey but was made bearable thanks to Salah and his wonderful team-Sara, Aimee and Yogi. I was very nervous during some procedures but he fully explained everything and listened to any concerns or questions I raised in a very considerate way. Fantastic experience: Hygienist Jamie and the lady working with him today (I, shamefully, forgot to ask her name) are simply the best you could ask for. I have been incredibly stressed regarding the health of my gums for the last year and a half after being led to believe I had periodontal disease by a previous dentist (not a dentist working for this practice might I add). Jamie viewed my xrays and did a check of my teeth/gums ahead of the scale and polish and assured me that I have no signs of periodontal disease. I could not be more relieved and I even had a little cry of joy, which this pair handled excellently. The appointment went off without a hitch from there and my teeth have never looked so clean and bright - I can finally smile again. I cannot thank you (or recommend you) enough.

Fantastic experience: I had an appointment on Tuesday afternoon for 2 fillings,this lovely lady came out to call my name she was very friendly and chatty and i commented on her jazzy top with dentist related pictures on .When I sat in the chair she instantly made me feel relaxed as I never met her before I believe she was new she was very concerned over my chipped frount tooth as I had a few fillings in the same tooth she communicated all the time with what her plans were to remove old fillings in the tooth and replace with one complete new filling .Once completed handed me a mirror to make sure I was happy with the shape and made sure that I had enough room to floss I'm so pleased with the amazing results I feel more confident and my tooth shape is back to normal AMAZING Thankyou so much for putting me at ease ...Also want to thank the other lady in the room for sucking all the stuff out of my mouth she was lovely too .when I went to pay I asked if they had any space for new NHS patients for my daughters ,the lovely young lady on the frount told me she would ask the Dentist and ring me back with an answer .Thankyou all for going above and beyond

Negative experience: Appointments frequently postponed without informing the patients (this happens for almost every appointment with every family member). Usually rearranged for several months later, even for children who have conditions which the dentist stresses must be monitored regularly. When seen, the dentists themselves are very good. The organisation of the practice itself is awful.

Fantastic experience: Visited dentist for possible root canal procedure with Dr.Farzana Mohamed. Feeling very nervous. After detailed examination we discussed options both Short term , and long term. After I had all information we had a plan. I can honestly say she was tremendous. I felt we discussed everything and she informed me of everything . Negative experience: ABSOLUTLEY appalled at the service and customer service I have received at Port talbot MYDENTIST today. My appointment has been booked in advance for well over a year, go to my appointment (I have been suffering with gum problems for a while now) wanted to speak to them about this at my appointment as I'm now in pain so waited for todays appointment. A lady booked me in was told to sit and wait, waiting 10/15 minutes to be asked back up to reception for the receptionist to tell me there had been an emergency and I wasn't going to be seen today. No advice or antibiotics given other than to go and buy corsadyl mouthwash!! Assumed I could come back Monday for rearranged appointment. I specifically arranged childcare for my appointment today as its the 6 weeks holidays for then to cancel the appointment whilst I was sitting there. If I could give this review 0 stars I would so I had to give 1 star.

Please accept my apologies that your appointment was cancelled at late notice and for the inconvenience caused. Although we work hard to honour our appointments, there may be occasions where, due to circumstances often outside of our control, we may regrettably have to cancel some appointments as occurred at this time. In relation to the advice, our reception team are not clinical and therefore it would be remiss of them to act as such, they can however offer non clinical advise to help in the interim to relieve some of the pain. I trust that this issue has now been resolved.

Negative experience: Signed up here privately in January, when my NHS dentist went private. I was charged £250 for a filling ' which I'm still having problems with', on top of a consultation fee!. I found out if I had stayed with my old NHS dentist and gone private with him, a filling would cost £72!!, my old dentist is also dentaplan, absolute extortion

Fantastic experience: After 30+ years of having a huge phobia of dentists, since having 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, I finally plucked up enough courage to walk in and make an appointment at My Dentist. An appt was made with Dr. Mo for me to have 2 extractions that same day. I returned a few hours later nervous and full of anxiety. Mo not only made me feel relaxed (which I have to say is not easy when you see 2 needles with my name on them) but he talked me through it step by step of what he was doing and why, so professional, friendly and that calming voice was much better than sitting in the chair with a total stranger while being given the silent treatment! The after care they gave was second to none, it’s the small things like ringing the following day asking how you are feeling and getting on that impressed me. Negative experience: Update: I have lowered to one star as true to form this business suggested that my review was posted by mistake. I note that they are sorry to receive a low review, presumably not sorry for the pain and discomfort they caused. My review is not a mistake - My appointment was 9th Jan 14:40. I'd rather leave a public review because: 1: I don't want to deal with you. 2: It holds you accountable Original Review: I had a molar removed due to decay caused by an impacted wisdom tooth, the tooth had to be broken up to remove it because the way my wisdom tooth had grown into it made it complicated to remove. After the extraction I was sent home with a leaflet, a brochure(advertising implants and crowns) and a couple of gauze pads. A severe throat infection followed as well as 2 weeks of very bad pain in my jaw. Now, about 3 months after the extraction, what I believe to be left over tooth fragments are coming through the side of my gum at the extraction site. This place had the feel of most modern day, impersonal franchises who just seem to want to process as many people as they can, as quickly as possible and they charge top whack. I wouldn't go back even if they paid me.

Negative experience: The worst dentist I’ve been to in my 70 years on this planet, avoid at all costs. Arrived 5 minutes early to receptionist talking on the phone and computer then talking to her colleague, waited at the desk for5 minutes then sat down. Only 2 people waiting, girl finished talking at 10 past and I enquired when the dentist would be ready to be told I was 10 minutes late. I told her I was 5 mins early and to no avail. I was booked to have a tooth out only to be informed I wasn’t booked for that, they cancelled my appointment in July and now I’m waiting for middle of August to finish my treatment. Yes I’m on the nhs but surly I don’t deserve 3 world treatment. My wife also came out of this place in tears when she saw an awful argumentative dentist who just didn’t care and would only do the minimum. Avoid!!!!!

Fantastic experience: Had an appointment with Hugo and his assistant, both were amazing. Needed a cracked filling fixed and another filling. I genuinely thought they had only done one tooth when he said all done as I never felt him even touch the second tooth. Highly Recommended especially if you’re a bit nervous like me. Can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at My Dentist Port Talbot practice for a few years and I would highly recommend it to anyone. I attended this week for mine and my children’s check up. We always see Dr Helen Fullstone who is always so lovely to the children and immediately puts them at ease. Dr Helen Fullstone is professional and honest, I have never once felt forced a treatment and she explains everything clearly. I have had cosmetic work done and I’m so pleased with my results. I must add, the reception staff are always so helpful and have fitted us in quickly when my little boy had tooth ache. Really lovely practice. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Had a wisdom tooth extraction. Had to book in with a particular dentist. Because he is "the best". Radu Goss. Certainly has NO manners. Barely spoke to me. Asked me to sign a piece of paper to say he had explained everything to me. After having Said barley 2 words. He DIDN'T explain that he would be sawing into my jaw. Ended up extreamly ill, borderline septic. Extreamly dismissive. I told him I was nervous as never even had a filling. Now left traumatised! Do not reccommend and will be making formal complaints everywhere!!

Negative experience: Went as an emergency NHS after contacting 111, with a cracked tooth causing pain ++ found the surgery itself a bit corporate and lacking atmosphere not good for the nerves and the dentist I saw put a temporary filling on half my tooth when I got out I found the crack at the back of the tooth hadn’t been filled, so still in pain and will probably have to spend another £30 I don’t have on another visit to a dentist

Fantastic experience: Had an emergency appointment with Hugo and Emma. I'm one of those nervous patients and really wasn't looking forward to it as I'd been in extreme pain since Wednesday with a broken tooth. Fantastic experience: Been visiting this location for a couple weeks now and it's absolutely perfect. Negative experience: Was cold called and told I was still NHS with them, so booked and went along for the appointment. Luckily I double checked I was definitely NHS when I arrived and before I went in for the "check-up" because they admitted I wasn't NHS and after the appointment they were going to charge me £50 as a private patient. So I immediately walked out. Be very careful.

Unfortunately, as this practice is already at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are currently unable to offer you an NHS place at this time. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options for patients to access dentistry, outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. We will always offer patients this option as an alternative, so our patients can make an informed choice on their dental care.
