Fantastic experience: My care both days this week at Newland dental practice was excellent. My dentist , Katrina was excellent and explained everything thoroughly as she went along . My hygienist Annabel was amazing and this can be a very uncomfortable experience- but not this time as she was competent but very gentle , and again explained everything thoroughly. I would recommend this practice highly .

Positive experience: Excellent treatment at Newland Dental Practice and having a dental plan has been worthwhile. The car park can be challenging on occasion which is the only downside

Fantastic experience: Rang the dentist first thing Tuesday morning as I had developed a dental abscess overnight. Got offered an appointment for that morning. Unfortunately I was down south and wouldn’t have been able to drive back in time, so they offered me a sit and wait appointment at 2.00. Got there just after 1.00 and receptionist was so concerned with how swollen my face was for the time it had been painful (and was able to show her photos of how the swelling had increased in size over the morning) that she notified my dentist who saw me straight away. Dentist wasn’t sure with the amount of swelling whether she’d be able to numb it or whether I would need to go to A&E, but she had a go and managed to get it numb. Tooth out, antibiotics and strong painkillers and off home after a 20 min sit it the waiting room to check I was ok to drive. Couldn’t have asked for a more caring or efficient team.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant dentist! Had to reschedule due to the dentist I was going to see was unwell, however the reception staff were really helpful and got me in within an hour with a different dentist. The dentist I saw was lovely and incredibly helpful. He spoke me through everything he was doing and made me feel at ease.

Negative experience: Not happy with the dental practice at all if I could give minus 5 I would as for shody work that's cause problems later they employ dentist as self employed so if the problems do occur they don't take any responsibility and all you get is a sorry nothing else I really would take you're money else were you will thank you're self's later for doing so

Fantastic experience: I was having two teeth taken out due to a persistent infection. Right from the moment I entered the operating room I was put at my ease by Arej my dentist and her very capable assistant. Fantastic experience: You fitted me in for a painful emergency matter, and everything was perfect, from organisation to my dentist, Josephine, who treated me very efficiently, and for the first time in my 71 year life, gave me two injections that I did not even feel!! Great temporary solution giving me time to decide on a permanent fix.

Fantastic experience: Had a front implant using Newland. The process was first class and I can fully recommend Jose who's an excellent surgeon. All the options, including the risks were fully communicated. Everyone in the surgery is completely professional, not the cheapest but in this case you get what you pay for!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely amazing service over my last 3 appointments. Receptionists we’re lovely. Katarina was an amazing dentist who explained everything well and has resolved all of the issues I had within just 2 appointments. Lily was absolutely amazing and supportive, and let me squeeze her hand throughout the whole of my tooth removal. So happy with services provided today. Fantastic experience: Thank you to Helen Clark and her team for the care and treatment I received having lost a large old filling. The atmosphere in reception was calm and inviting, Helen explained the difficulties for this particular tooth and worked hard to make sure my new filling would feel comfortable and would last. Negative experience: Since the Charlewood’s have left this practice it has gone down hill. Needed an appointment for a broken tooth, that had already had two temp fixes. Rang for an appointment , none available for 2 months. Have to ring in the morning to get an emergency appointment but treatment would be another temp fix. Had a phone call today to let me know that the dentist seen before was leaving. So for my next appointment which will be 3rd since the Charlwood’s have left, it will be the 3rd different dentist seen.

We are really sorry you have felt the need to leave us this review. Unfortunately, we have had some turn around in dentists, but we have hired someone new who is starting next week and also recruiting new dentists which we would like to say we will have longer than the previous. We have gone through lots of changes here at Newland for the better and we will always strive for a really strong service as we care about our patients.
We also have had some accessibility issues for our appointments, so we have made sure all our Denplan patients are on the correct fee band for what their risk needs are for their maintenance plans as to not fill up our appointments unnecessarily.

Negative experience: Would give no stars if I could! Since moving to Pepper clinic and joining franchise, Dr and Mrs Charlwood leaving the practice has gone down hill! Hard to get an appointment, terrible communication…. Unless it’s to send snotty letters with inaccurate information. My advice don’t use this practice. There are better out there

We have been part of Portman Healthcare for nearly 6 years now when it was sold by the Charlwoods to them. We have been focusing on our patient care and accessibility which has been tough since Covid and not being able to recruit for a NHS Dentist. So therefore we had no choice but to go fully private. We pride ourselves in patient care and we are sorry this surpassed you on your visit.

Negative experience: Money money money!!

We are sorry to hear that you think we are money orientated. I can assure you we do pride ourselves with no hidden costs and all our treatment prices are fair and relative to our local market for the best private care available.
We understand private costs are more expensive than NHS so we do offer The Portman Plan which includes 2 exams and 10% off our private fees if any treatment is needed.

Negative experience: Discharged me and my daughter a year ago apparently without telling us so when I needed a long overdue appointment I was left without a dentist. The last dentist I saw there was rude and absurd and I have known the staff there to make things about people up to ss, not at all going to recommend this place, also private only now

We are sorry to hear about your frustrations. However we no longer do NHS due to not being able to hire any NHS dentists for over a year. This unfortunately left us with no choice to hand back our contract despite efforts to keep the contract and then to go private. Our team here at Newland follow strict GDPR guidance as well and undertaking regular training.
We are sorry the previous dentist you saw were rude, we will feed this back to the full team.

Negative experience: I'm sorry to be the negative one here, but after 30 years of visiting Newland, it's time to move on. As a private patient, I feel value for money has left the building. Since the practice sold out, Portman's only concern is to charge as much for very little. Even the receptionists bark at you now so I will do the only thing I can, and move on. I'm sure they won't miss me, but the feeling will be mutual.
