Bupa Dental Care Woking

Negative experience: I had an appointment with Rita Mirchandani at the Bupa Dental Centre in Woking (Guildford Road), which was scheduled for 11:45 on 29 October 2025. Unfortunately, this was my first appointment with Rita, and it will also be my last. She arrived approximately 25 minutes late and did not acknowledge or apologise for the delay. For a dentist with over 20 years of experience, the professionalism was shocking. I have never experienced this level of service from any NHS dentist or other medical professional. One would expect that, as a private patient, the standard of care and professionalism would be higher; unfortunately, that was not my experience. While Rita claims to care about her patients, her behaviour suggested otherwise. Prior to attending this practice, I had been treated by another local NHS dentist. Rita questioned previous dental work I had received and made negative comments about it. While she is entitled to her professional opinion, such feedback should be delivered professionally and respectfully. When she suggested I undergo further dental work, I politely explained that I might seek a second opinion or return to my original dentist as the work that was being suggested was linked to the previous dental work. She sighed and rudely said, “I don’t like when patients want to get a second opinion. Get one dentist and stick to them.” I am fully entitled to seek a second opinion to make an informed decision. I understand that different dentists may have differing perspectives, but I wanted to be confident in my decision before proceeding, particularly as the proposed treatment cost over £1,000. No patient should feel pressured into making a decision of this magnitude. At one point during the appointment, while explaining where to buy certain dental items, I mentioned that I’d get them elsewhere as they are products that are sold by many retailers, she responded, “I couldn’t give a monkey’s about where you buy them from.” How is it acceptable for you to provide a service and speak to patients like that? As an adult, why am I being spoken to like I am a child? The patronizing comments and condescending behavior throughout the appointment were unnecessary. I really don’t think anyone, especially in the medical field, should speak to patients like that. I hope for her current and future patients’ sake, it was just an off day, but either way, it doesn’t excuse rudeness or unprofessionalism, especially as half of a dentist’s job is making patients feel comfortable. Overall, I found the appointment to be unprofessional, patronising, and uncomfortable. I hope this feedback is taken seriously to ensure that current and future patients are treated with the respect and professionalism they deserve.

Fantastic experience: Had an appointment with Tracey my hygienist, today and I would like to say that she is excellent, very thorough and determined to get those stains off. Also gives advice on cleaning and encouragement that you are doing all the right things. Tracey has been my hygienist for many years now and couldn't recommend her enough. Come home with lovely clean teeth.

Negative experience: I usually have an amazing experience with all the dentists here at Bupa in Woking, but today when I attended for an emergency appointment it wasn’t the same great standard. I was seen by Rita, who as soon as I got into the appointment asked what the issue I was experiencing. I tried explaining, making sure I didn’t leave any details out because surely it’s important to provide context to a dentist so they have the full picture of what they may be dealing with. She responded with ‘stop telling me a story and give me the facts’ which came across in an extremely patronising manner and it threw me off completely so I just decided to quickly summarise the pain in my teeth. She then contradicted herself by saying it could have been caused by the wisdom tooth surgery I had a few weeks prior, which is what I was trying to explain to her in the first instance before she told me to stop ‘telling a story’. It seemed extremely unprofessional and it felt like what I was there for was being disregarded. Then, after looking at my teeth she concluded by saying ‘you can really confuse clinicians by explaining the way you do’, which once again is a really unnecessary comment. Felt like I was being spoken down to like a child, rather than a patient who just needed her teeth checked. She then wrapped up the appointment by telling me I needed to learn basic dental hygiene even though I did confirm I know how to floss. Considering I’m an adult, it was a perplexing experience to say the least— but hopefully only better ones in the future.

Negative experience: Upon attending the appointment on thurday ,21 august 2025 at 14:30 pm, Dr. Baran confronted my wife, questioning her about why I had previously contacted the practice to raise concerns. He spoke in an unnecessarily confrontational and unprofessional manner, stating it was "not his fault that our child eats sweets and can't brush their teeth properly." This comment was not only inappropriate but also completely uncalled for, particularly in front of a child. When Dr. Baran examined my daughter, he questioned why a complaint had been made when the fillings were apparently completed, and proceeded to involve a staff member from downstairs, asking them in front of my wife,son and daughter why we had complained if treatment had already been carried out. Throughout this interaction, he continually dismissed and talked over my wife, denying her any opportunity to explain or respond. This created a very uncomfortable and distressing environment for both her and our children. Following this incident, I called the practice myself to express concern and was met with a surprisingly rude and argumentative tone from the receptionist, Evon. Rather than handling the call professionally, she appeared defensive and seemed to be looking for an excuse to end the conversation abruptly. It later became clear that there had been a miscommunication regarding a previous appointment – particularly around the reason why we had been sent 40 miles away for treatment, which I had only called to clarify. We had originally been informed that our daughter needed an extraction and a cap, not just a filling. This misinformation appears to have contributed to the confusion and Dr. Baran’s unprofessional reaction. Although I did receive a follow-up call from a manager who was polite and explained that it was a misunderstanding, I still feel that the way my wife and children were treated during their visit was completely unacceptable. No family – particularly young children – should be subjected to such hostility, judgment, or dismissiveness in a healthcare setting. I therefore will be taking this up with nhs trust

Fantastic experience: I recently attended for wisdom teeth extraction with Rita Mirchandani and her dental nurse. I am anxious about the dentist and was fearful of this appointment due to a previous bad experience with tooth extraction. Rita and the nurse were really supportive, I found it helpful that i was given lots of psychoeducation about the procedure. They allowed me to listen to my music throughout the procedure which i found helpful. The extraction didn't take long and i haven't had any complications, which has been a relief. I also found the education about dental hygiene and brush technique really helpful.

Fantastic experience: Eli is a wonderful dentist, even more so now he has a stunning new surgery to showcase his skills from - shame about the ridiculously uncomfortable dental-chair! Even if Bupa provided a cushion for low-back support it would be something…

Fantastic experience: As an nhs patient, the surgery cannot be faulted. Brilliant reception staff and Nadeem is an excellent practitioner.

Fantastic experience: Nadeem Riaz was excellent. He was efficient in that he had the results of my previous checkups readily available allowing him to quickly determine whether any areas had deteriorated. He was kind by making it easy for me to indicate if I felt uncomfortable at any point. He was caring by clearly explaining what he was doing and why.

Fantastic experience: What can i say for a guy who is so nervous of the dentist .i had a filling done by Dr rita mirchandani and she was amazing kind thorough and talked me through everything to keep me at ease .and her wonder nurse helper sushma was very helpful aswell . I neglected my teeth for too long due to bad experiences in the past and my dental health was not great. Anita as helped me conquer the fear and begin to take care of my dental health.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined the practice and had a great experience. The reception team are really lovely to deal with, very patient and very clear in communication which is great. I saw Dr Rita Mirchandani and Sushma Shahi as her nurse. They are absolutely fabulous at putting a nervous patient at ease, great wit and humour but also fantastic at explaining what issues are present and why you need them doing. I learnt a lot from my visit with has improved my dental health but also I am so glad to have found a great dental team to see regularly

When I've had emergency issues they've always been great at finding me an appointment. Regular checkups and hygienist appointments keep on top of any potential issues. She keeps you informed every step of the way and the quality of her work is 2nd to none. When I arrived 15 years ago my mouth was not in great shape. She stabilised the situation, educated me on how to look after my mouth and has monitored my mouth since. I cannot recommend her enough.

Fantastic experience: Rebecca at Bupa Knaphill has looked after my teeth for several years now and my dental health has never been better. She is an excellent dentist. The receptionists, Louise and Vanessa, are unfailingly friendly and efficient too. My only complaint is that NHS dental care is no longer available, but that is due to lack of public investment in dentistry. I can wholeheartedly recommend Bupa Dental Care Knaphill.

Fantastic experience: I recently had to face one of those dental experiences that many dread: a broken tooth extraction. However, I'm pleased to say that my visit to Dr. Jahnavi Metha and nurse Sushma was nothing short of excellent. Dr. Jahnavi explained the procedure in detail, making sure I understood each step. I thought I was going to be in a lot of pain. So when it was time for the numbing process and saw the needle, I prepared myself. But the process was quick and I hardly felt a thing. During the extraction of the tooth she worked efficiently, with great care and was explaining what she was doing at each step. I felt a little pressure, like she said I would, but no pain at all. Before I knew it, the tooth was out. She explained the after care and what to expect. I expected to be in pain when the anaesthesia would wear off, but again I had no pain. Overall, I can confidently say that my tooth extraction experience with Dr. Jahnavi Metha and nurse Sushma exceeded my expectations. Thank you!!! I highly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: I recently had to confront a long-standing phobia of going to the dentist, and my experience at BUPA Dental Care Woking Retreat with Dr. Anita Hawksworth, and her nurses Tia and Chantelle, made all the difference. I had a tooth that was causing unbearable pain, forcing me to book an emergency appointment. I was anxious and unsure of what to expect, but booking the appointment online was simple and straightforward, and I was welcomed warmly when I arrived. Dr Anita Hawksworth immediately put me at ease. She explained everything she was going to do, making it clear that she wouldn't proceed without my consent, which made a huge difference for someone like me with a dental phobia. Unfortunately, the inspection showed that I needed to return the next day to have the tooth removed. On the day of the procedure, Dr. Anita and her team were incredibly reassuring and patient, ensuring that I was as comfortable as possible throughout. Tia and Chantelle were wonderfully understanding and caring, helping me feel more relaxed than I ever thought I could be in a dentist's chair. Radio 2 was a great chose of stations. The entire team truly went above and beyond to make sure my fears were addressed and I felt in control. For anyone out there with a fear of the dentist, I can't recommend this team enough. They are compassionate, professional, and genuinely care about your comfort. Thanks to Dr. Anita Hawksworth, Tia, Chantelle, and everyone at the practice, I have now fully recovered, and I am incredibly grateful for the way they helped me overcome a major fear. Fantastic experience: I’ve been seeing Dr Rita Mirchandani regularly for 17 years. She is the best dentist I’ve ever seen (I’m over 50). She always offers advice, presents sensible options and most importantly she cares and takes time to do things the right way. Having seen dentists in the past who were only interested in how many more fillings they could put in my mouth, Rita has been a breath of fresh air. Under her care I’ve had a couple of fillings replaced, a root canal because there wasn’t much more she could do with the tooth, and an extraction because of an abscess in an old (pre-Rita) root canal - always a pleasure to deal with her, given her calm demeanour and never any pain with any of the procedures! She has also been wonderful with my daughter, who oat age 3 wouldn’t open her mouth for an examination. My daughter now has a wonderful mouthful of teeth and has developed excellent oral healthcare. If you’re worried about going to the dentist, Rita is the dentist you should see.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, having to change my initial 5 star review. The reception team and nursing team are fantastic, however my experience with Rita is not one I’d like to repeat. Initial appointment and check up was great and really informative, however the three fillings I had have left me in pain and unable to eat on one side of my mouth. I have had fillings before with different dentists, and have never had these issues, which have been unable to be rectified despite multiple appointments.

Fantastic experience: Just had a crown fitted. It was a very difficult piece of dentistry to a tooth with a very large cavity. Dr Rita Mirchandani and the team did an excellent job and I commend them for their work and professionalism. There are several dentists and hygienists working here with private and NHS patients. Limited parking is available on site. Today (25/04/2024) I received excellent care from my Dental Hygienist, Pri, and the Dental Nurse, Tanya. Everyone at the practice is friendly and professional. They always provide the highest standards of care. If you are looking for a dentist, I strongly recommend Dr Rita Mirchandani. She is passionate about dental care.

Fantastic experience: Wholly recommend Rita Mirchandani whose sincere professionalism and meticulous approach puts your teeth as a number one priority! Rita is a no nonsense and hardworking dentist that explains what dentistry or remediation may be required. Rita must be considered an Ambassador for oral health. If you think you know how to use a TePe but haven't been shown by Rita, politely, I would suggest you probably don't. Rita and her team keep your teeth in very safe, competent and capable hands. Could not recommend enough. Keep up the great work!

Fantastic experience: Had my first appointment today after many years of avoiding dentists with a phobia. The dentist I saw put my phobia worries at ease and did a thorough examination with 2 sets of X-rays. She explained the issues I have very well and I will continue with the treatment she advised. So far very impressed :)

Fantastic experience: I never thought I'd say it was a pleasure visiting a dental surgery. But, from the time you make contact via the telephone to the time you leave the surgery having being treated, the entire process is made pleasant by the staff at "The Retreat" in Woking. The reception staff go out of their way to find a suitable appointment for you and the dentist and dental assistants are pleasant and put you at ease.

Fantastic experience: I had a tooth extraction with Dr. Rita. I didn't feel anything. It was quick and easy. 6 hours later the bleeding stopped and I barely felt any pain.

Positive experience: A nice team who were willing to assist even when admin matters of which they had no experience were raised.

Fantastic experience: Would definitely recommend Rita and her team, she passionately cares about how she can help look after your teeth and helping you to do the same. She always makes an effort to be friendly and supportive and is great working with children too. She has been my dentist since 2009 and seen my children growing up helping them look after their teeth as they have grown.

Fantastic experience: I saw Rita for the first time for a filling. I was immediately put at ease. Both dentist and her nurse Sushma were friendly and very informative throughout the treatment and explained everything they were doing. I would recomend Rita and her team to anyone needing to see a dentist.

Fantastic experience: My child suffered dental trauma with damage to their two front teeth. Mr Baron was professional and focused with the immediate treatment required and provided advice for next steps. Mr Baron was able to refer us to two excellent specialists to advise on the next steps. My child is now back under the care of Mr Baron who has been very supportive, helpful and caring. He has been clear on what we need to look out for in case of infections and what our next steps would be- he always takes time to explain what we need to do and we have always felt well looked after. We really appreciate his help and advice and ongoing care for our child. We would recommend. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Dr Jahnavi Mehta is very good with her work and she treats everyone like a friend. I was delighted when she remembered my birthday and played the Happy Birthday song as I entered the room. Amazing! I have the upmost confidence in her and my whole family is under her care. An extremely professional but very friendly dentist.

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Rita, who is so kind, compassionate, meticulous and professional. She listens and gives the best advice too. In addition to the utmost care she has given to my mum. She has really understood her individual needs, in terms of supporting her dental health and restoring her confidence with the amazing dentures she made for mum. Any issues has never been a problem for her and it is evident she is happy to help and assist in any way she can. I am so grateful to have found her. Positive experience: Available, and do what they say they will. If a problem occurs ( EG staff I'll ) they contact and rearrange. I should add I see Rita Mirchandani who is very diligent. What do I think - well my whole family sees the same dentist and has done so for longer than I care to remember.

Fantastic experience: Amazing the reception staff set up a summer scavenger hunt in the reception and once my child found all of them they gave my child a supprise and a sticker of choice and with the struggle of hundreds of requests they handle the struggle and were quick and extremely good at doing there job very hygienic very quick and extremely hard working I would highly recommend this dental care
