Fantastic experience: I returned to this location after about 1 year. I was very pleasantly impressed with what I found now. The interior has been renovated and looks very cool, everything is new and clean. Very friendly and helpful staff, the ladies at the reception, the nurses and the doctors. The whole procedure was explained to my son before the execution and thus that kind of stress for the children was eliminated. I would gladly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I had my first visit to Westmount Dental Practice in Ferryhill after a few years of avoiding the dentist due to a previous uncomfortable experience elsewhere. From the moment I walked in, I was made to feel completely at ease. Dentist Seb and Dental Nurse Mia were absolutely brilliant – professional and very reassuring throughout. They took the time to explain everything clearly, which really helped. I’ve since signed up to the Westmount dental plan and, for the first time in a long time, I have no worries about going back for my next appointment. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking experience with this dentist, messed about from the very start, they have changed my appointment 2 times canceling on the day , waited 4 months for a splint for a wobbly tooth which is classed as a emergency, receptionist are polite but have booked me twice with wrong dentists who can't do the treatment then have lied about the reasoning

Negative experience: This surgery is so frustrating and so stressful. The unprofessionalism of the receptionist reached an all time low today as she spoke over me I asked if could be allowed to speak to which she agreed if I stopped shouting at her and I would have laughed if we're no so stressful but at no point was my voice ever raised and what is more bizarre is that these phonecalls are recorded and for the past few months I've been sar requesting the phonecalls and the CCTV to prove that the only reason they've accused me of such behaviour is because they don't want to accept responsibility for their negligence. I'm now not allowed at the surgery and now they won't even speak to me on the phone, I've never ever experienced such immature adults or such unprofessional behaviour in my life, they're treating a grown adult like a child and they've made me feel so humiliated and abused. The only option I have is legal action which the general dental council have advised me to do and have referred me to their preferred solicitor who deals with these types of situations but honestly they've stressed so much to the point that I feel ill and honestly don't even think I have the strength which I'm sure was westmounts hopes all along. Their tactics all make sense now and despite them owing me around about £750 it's probably better for my health that I just drop it. My advice to anyone thinking about using this surgery please don't, because human beings deserve a modicum of respect at the very least especially when they've been a customer at their surgery since they were a child and have spent thousands as an adult. Today was the final insult, I wish I hadn't bothered, it's obvious to me now that the goal the whole time was to break me down to the point where I couldn't deal with it anymore and I can't so they win. This surgery from my experience can not be trusted and if you care about your mental health as much as you do about your oral health you'll avoid Westmount dental surgery. For want of a better word they're best described as a brick wall and they'll do whatever they please regardless of how illegal their methods are or how detrimental the effects are.

Negative experience: I have been a customer of this dentist for many years. Had to join the monthly plan for peace of mind. Just been for a check up and not impressed. I waited 50 minutes after my appointment time and i was in the chair no more than 5 minutes. I thought dentist did not go through the procedure of checking my teeth very well and said he recommended a thorough clean which would cost £160. I opted for the clean which was on my plan. This was a joke - just scraped between teeth - no polishing done. Not happy with service.

Negative experience: When you pay your membership fee only to be told when you phone to book a checkup that you have to pay 2 membership fees before you can be considered for a checkup, what the hell you guys smoking? It's funny how none of that was ever explained when you hand over your bank details

Hi, when it comes to the membership plan, we do require two payments prior to booking the first appointment in, however, after this we are able to pre-book all future appointments for the coming year. The reason for this is that we need to ensure we have taken some payment before we get you booked in, historically we have booked patients in immediately for exams and hygiene appointments before taking any payments and then patients have cancelled the plan and not made any payments. As you can appreciate this means we have provided £140 worth of services without taking any payment. Negative experience: Forcing long standing NHS patients to go private paying a monthly fee and then refusing to let them book appointments until 2 direct debits have been taken! Lied and said I’d been told this when i signed up. It’s a joke, in what circumstances is it acceptable for customers to sign up and pay for a service and then be denied access to it. Oh and they haven’t even published a full price list for treatments so all I know is my check ups are supposedly covered with the monthly fee (that is if they actually let me make appointments) so I’ve been cornered into signing up for something I don’t even know the full costs for should I need a filling etc.

Negative experience: Generally the dental treatment was good and so were the reception staff. Its a scandal that a practice which was built up on the backs of working people in Ferryhill over decades has been sold off, sold again and now is private only with treatment costing a lot. Write to your MP and tell him - I have!

Negative experience: Very professional. Reception staff friendly made me feel comfortable. Maxine and her colleague made me feel at ease immediately explained every step of my treatment. Why I have given 1 star is because of the westmount company and it's policy From October I will no longer be able to get treatment unless I have their dental insurance. I already have my own insurance policy and am willing to pay for private treatment. Why would I want another policy. I pay for my treatment upfront and I claim it back from my insurance. This has been satisfactory to date. I can only conclude that westmount don't want my business unless it's on their terms. Very very disappointed.

A lot of practices up and down the country have had to make the same decision in moving away from NHS and over to a membership only practice. This is to give our patients the best experience possible when attending for appointments and requiring to contact the practice. The membership model is used across the country and we feel it works well to ensure we serve our patients best as then we know exactly how many patients we have with us and can resource accordingly. Negative experience: As usual Maxine was brilliant but I cannot say that for the direction the surgery has gone in. I am a private patient having an annual checkup and paying for treatment as necessary but now if I want to see Maxine I have to become a "member "and pay 19.50 per month!!! Why??? ...it's blackmail!!

Negative experience: Very poor.3 times had appointments cancelled. Latest couldn't start treatment as would not be finished before NHS treatments were stopped. Was not informed of this at time of booking had to be taken aside at surgery to be let down again. I feel NHS patients have been treated very poorly. Fantastic experience: Had my first tooth taken out at this practice with. Maxine Furley and her dental nurse Georgia. I am afraid of needles and the thought of the dentist having a job with my tooth but I was totally surprised of how Maxine gave me the needle and I didn't feel a thing . Plus the tooth came out so fast . It was a pleasure going to that practice and they were so professional and the receptionist Mel was so nice while I waited . I was shocked to discover they only have 1 dentist now and that dentist is private only. Despite being a client of that great dentist for over 20 years, to find that it is £50-£75 for just a check up has forced me to look elsewhere. Such a shame.

Negative experience: I have heard that the practice I have been with for over 30 years has been taken over and have gone private, I have for the last 2 months and each time I am told that 5 dentists have left and I cannot get an appointment, as you are getting good reviews which is good, where is the thought for the patients that have been with Burgess Dental surgery for years and making excuses about appointments, I paid for my dental appointments so was not on the NHS but it is bang out of order to be treated this way because you have gone private, nor have I even been offered to become a private patient

Fantastic experience: This dental practice is lovely. They have time to discuss your concerns and go through details of any treatment you may require. Being aware NHS dentist are in short supply, this practice offers denplan, ensuring you are able to budget your dental treatment. There is a PRIVATE car park available and for appointments Monday to Thursday I've had no problem getting a space. Unfortunately Friday it's virtually impossible as people use it to go shopping as the market is on. Pity no sign showing fine applies if car reg not given inside by patient before leaving
