Negative experience: Extremely disappointed with this practice, particularly as we have been patients for over 30 years. My wife lost a large filling and rang to ask if she could bring her check up appointment forward (by two weeks) so that it could be dealt with. She was advised this was not possible, so she endured the discomfort, only for the surgery to text on the morning of the appointment cancelling! No explanation, no apology and, as other reviewers have reported, impossible to contact the practice by phone . With Julian retiring, the practice has really declined in their customer service and treatment and treat NHS patients with disdain. Unacceptable service and total lack of integrity towards patients. Fortunately we have registered with another dental practice and can no longer recommend you to others.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and we’re sorry to hear how disappointed you and your wife have felt. We fully understand how frustrating and uncomfortable this situation must have been, especially after so many years as patients with the practice.
The past year has been extremely challenging for us, with the unexpected loss of multiple NHS dentists and the difficulties this created in maintaining continuity of care and appointment availability. While this doesn’t excuse the inconvenience caused, it does help explain why some appointments had to be cancelled at short notice and why reaching us by phone has been harder than usual. This is something we’re actively working to improve.
We are genuinely sorry that we weren’t able to support your wife sooner and that we did not communicate the cancellation as clearly or compassionately as you deserved. Your feedback is important to us, and we will use it to continue improving our service as we rebuild and stabilise the team.

Fantastic experience: I visited a newly appointed NHS dentist at this practice today having been left in limbo since the retirement of Julian Allen As I understand it it has a nightmare trying to replace not one but 2 ( might even be 3 ) NHS dentists who left the practice at about the same time. My treatment today was first class ( David Law ) and throughout this very difficult period of time for the practice I and my husband have been treated with courtesy and understanding by all staff including reception and locum dentists who have been able to accommodate us for the odd dental problem. Check ups weren’t possible which I accepted and completely understood the reasons for this situation I was told that during this difficult period reception staff came under considerable pressure and verbal abuse from disappointed and disgruntled patients which I find appalling ( it’s not their fault NHS dentistry is in crisis and has been for years !! ) And even today one guy was forcibly complaining that his daughter had not been contacted to say she could now make an appointment and didn’t seem to understand when it was explained to him that there were loads and loads of patients who needed to be contacted and this would take time but that she was able from now on to make contact and get an appointment. I just wish people would be more understanding kind and considerate with front line staff who by and large are doing their best and sometimes in very difficult circumstances

Negative experience: I have been going to this dentist for many years now. I get a text to say my appointment has been cancelled and to call to re-arrange. I waited 20 minutes for my call to be answered by an abrupt receptionist giving me May as my New appointment so only got to wait 6 months. I mentioned I'm private patient and then given a New Decembet date, it was that or wait another 2 months for a date of choice. Think it's time to look for another Dentist, another place that seems to have no worry about emoloying abrupt staff for their receptionists to get rid of patients.

Negative experience: I am writing to express my extreme frustration following a recent family appointment at this practice. Approximately six months ago, my husband visited the practice intending to register himself, me, and our two children. He was initially told they were full. However, the receptionist kindly spoke with the dentist, and we were subsequently told they could accommodate the entire family. My husband completed the necessary enrollment paperwork on the spot, believing we were all successfully registered for future appointments. We arrived for our family appointment only to be told that the practice had no record of my husband’s enrollment, and they refused to see him. While my children and I were seen, the most frustrating part of this ordeal was the complete lack of customer service regarding this significant administrative error. There was no apology offered for the broken promise, and no alternative solution or rebooking was offered for my husband. To turn a fully enrolled family member away on arrival, having previously confirmed his enrollment and completed paperwork, is completely unacceptable. This situation wasted his time and reflects a serious issue with your client management and communication systems.

Negative experience: Joined the practice as a patient in 1981 and had excellent service until 12mths ago. My regular check up appointment was cancelled and despite calling in to attempt being given one I've just been fobbed off. Promises of new dentists coming in September, then interviews in October, now not taking anyone on. Not even those previously registered. Obviously going private only since being taken over. Very disappointed and now having to find a other dentist.

We have no plans of going private. We are still advertising for a new NHS dentist and our receptionists are doing everything they can to accommodate all patients. When we get a new NHS dentist we will be sure to advertise over our social media accounts and via word of mouth.

Negative experience: The dentists and hygienists are excellent, but they have the worst phone/receptionist!!! I challenge the owner to get through without being on hold for twenty minutes. Last time I got that fed up I hung up and drove to the premises went in and spoke to them in person, it’s that bad!!!

Positive experience: I Have been at this practice for over 30 years and never had an issue. Once Julien Allen retired we have seen Mr Chan, on my first check up he noticed an abcess and recommended a route canal or live with the issue, I decided to wait and see how it went. In June this year For a check up he mentioned that we will have to carry out a route canal very soon on that tooth. I called today to book for the route canal and after 21minutes waiting with monotonous music, I was told by the lady who answered that she could not just book me in for the route canal, I would have to see Mr Chan first then have another appointment for the procedure. I questioned this as it was a waste of his time when he had already suggested this twice, her response was well I cannot just book this I will get told off. I will book you an appointment and if he can do it on that appointment he will but no guarantees. Now in this busy practice surely it's better to book one appointment instead of taking two when other patients are waiting to get an appointment, especially when the treatment has already been recommended twice before?

Negative experience: Customer service has worsened over the last year, had appointments cancelled on the day (by text) and they advise you to call to re-book the appointment but the phones are never answered and if you fill out the form online to request a call back, they won’t follow up.

Fantastic experience: I'm a nervous nelly at the dentist, Elizabeth was nothing short of amazing, she took her time explained everything and for the first time ever injections were painless. The staff on the desk are also lovely checked on me while I was waiting. I highly recommend this dental practice

Negative experience: This place has gone downhill very fast, I know they are missing a few dentists but the reception staff have to improve their communication skills. Unfortunately we have had two dentists retire, but we are currently in the process of recruitment. As for the telephones we are currently receiving a high volume of calls and our reception team is working as fast and as thoroughly as they can.

Fantastic experience: My wife needed emergency appointments and was seen immediately on both occasions. Again, the receptionists were so helpful and friendly. However, the acid test was, of course, the exceptional treatment given by Dr. Green and Dr. Julian Chen. Needless to say, my wife was so grateful as it was so close to Christmas.

Fantastic experience: I've been attending this practice for 34 years and have always received excellent service and care. Dentists, Dental nurses, hygienists and reception staff have always been attentive, courteous and extremely helpful with care and treatment.
Fantastic experience: Elizabeth Sear treated me today with a tooth which has been causing me pain for some time; she is my new dentist and I feel blessed that she is. The care she took with me was outstanding and she explained what she was doing as she went along which means the world to me. Her colleague Amy was very supportive to both Elizabeth and to me and they are a great team. I cannot thank them enough for treating me with such dedication, kindness, consideration and for communicating with me so well which enabled me to relax as best as I could. What a wonderful person Elizabeth is and what an amazing dentist. Amy is lovely too. Thank you to both of them; their professionalism is a credit to them and of course to the practice.
