Negative experience: I’m extremely disappointed with the care provided by this dental practice. My wife was seen as an urgent NHS appointment after we contacted 111. She had severe gum swelling, significant pain, and had been unable to eat solid food for about a week. The dentist only applied an antiseptic dressing to one molar, despite multiple swollen and painful areas. The dentist did not even address the other swollen areas. No medication was prescribed and the pain and swelling did not improve. We were advised to register with the practice and book another appointment to have the molar removed, or wait for the dental board to give us a practise, but no further treatment was offered at the time. As her condition worsened, we attended a different dental practice (travelling a considerable distance). The second dentist diagnosed and treated the issue properly, prescribing antibiotics and carrying out scaling and polishing. The pain and swelling resolved completely within a week. This was all provided under an NHS Band 1 charge (£27.40), over two appointments. Given the severity of her symptoms, the lack of effective treatment at this practice was concerning as no further treatment was offered at the urgent appointment, and we were advised to register and book another visit. Absolutely unacceptable!
Fantastic experience: Very happy with the work Had an appointment yesterday 20th Nov with Dr. Alys Walsh to repair a damaged front tooth. She explained the procedure that would be followed and while carrying out the repair, explained each stage as it was executed. A good experience with the only pain being in my pocket (£), which was less than expected. Her assistant, Mia, also provided good support.

Negative experience: Although the dental treatment is good I am giving them a 1 star. My son who is 23yr, in a part time job is paying upto 4K for treatment. On Monday the dentist dropped his items on the floor including his glasses. His glasses are now are scratched on the bridge and both lenses are very badly scratched. It would appear the stool may have ran over them. We contacted the dentist to ask if they could help in purchasing new lenses as he only had them in August. The frames we accepted and not asking for these to be replaced. We have been told as its an accident which they have accepted responsibility for they can't do anything. Why not? Being a small business owner, I think this is unacceptable. If I broke anything of my customers regardless of how much it would cost I would replace no questions asked. They didn't even offer to knock the £59.50 off his £4k treatment. Not a happy customer!
Fantastic experience: I have always received top class service. A good example this week when I awoke with a swollen lip after the previous day's dental work. Going on holiday I contacted the practice 8.30, sent the requested picture and by 9 had received calls from the nurse and a dentist assuring me it was a self inflicted bite related to the anaesthetic. And so it proved!

Negative experience: Hands down the worst dental practice I have ever encountered. All the positive reviews must be from private patients as this is all the practice care about. From the arrogant, rude reception staff, cancelled appointments, lack of communication and any basic care for their patients! Have issued a formal complaint with Cwm Taf Health board as I am completely fed up of having to deal with this incompetent practice.

Negative experience: Never had any issues before with this dentist until today when they cancelled my appointment for the same day which I’ve waited over 13 months for to be given another nearly 7 months later which I explained I was in work at that time I was then given another appointment for 11 months later, absolutely shocking having to wait that long ! . Fantastic experience: My teeth had been terrible for a long time and was recommended my dentist in talbot Green by a very good friend so I deicide to give them a try. From the start with making my appointment all the staff were so very helpful, friendly thru it all, my dentist was Alys Walsh who was brilliant at putting my mind at ease, obviously like most people dentists are not my favourite places to be but I went ahead with a full set of dentures, which also meant a good bit of work before I got there. A few complications took place but with my teeth which meant it took double the amount of time so a year a few months later I now have an absolutely amazing set of dentures which have totally changed my appearance and state of mind. I can not thank Alys and all the staff who made me feel so relaxed, relieved and so happy to have had my work done with them. Thank you so much for giving me my smile and confidence back, I'm absolutely so proud, happy with my new teeth. Can't stop smiling!!! Totally recommend my dentist to all and I do when anyone asks me about my brilliant new smile!

Negative experience: Like going back to a 1980s school visit dentist. I won’t name the dentist and I have had better service from another at this practice previously but the dentist seen today was brash, flippant and condescending. Did nothing to make me feel at ease. Quite the opposite in fact. Appallingly bad.

Fantastic experience: I had to come to this dentist due to an emergency with my back molar.I fully expected to have to have the tooth extracted due to a large cavity and poor oral hygiene due to me suffering depression.But no the dentist managed to fill the cavity and scaled a lot of hard calculus of my teeth as well.Which I have been desperate to have done but have found it impossible due to not having a dentists Can't praise them enough they were excellent.

Negative experience: Having had a new NHS patient appointment booked for over 4 months I’m contacted my text the day before my appointment that it’s cancelled. When asked, clinic staff inform me they only check the appointments the day before so have kept me waiting months for a non existent appointment they never even knew they could deliver. Shocking services and processes. Go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: I recently attended my dentist Talbot Green . The receptionist was very friendly on arrival . My Dentist at the practice is Nik. Nik is very approachable and brings his own humour making you feel at ease .Ive always found Nik to be a really good dentist . He has solved many a problem with my teeth over the years and has fixed teeth for me that I was expecting to have to be extracted . Negative experience: Absolutely devastated tried to call about getting dental implants and all the receptionist was interested in was how much money she could bleed me for I've had dentures for a while now and just kept trying to make them work Sadly I'm disabled and don't have a money tree I just want to be able to smile again she just wanted me to book a £49 appointment Refused to give me a price just repeating make this £49 appointment and they will tell you the price coz she could not I can't do anything with the dentures I was given last year can't talk with them in most definitely can not eat with them in I'm at the end of my tether feeling like they no good options How do I live like this When ppl mock me because I have lost so many teeth Do you know what desperate looks like ? Dental implant cost will depend on the type of implant you need as well as your current mouth health which is why the receptionist suggested that you book an examination first. Our clinicians can only give out costs when they have confirmed that you are indeed eligible for the treatment and what type of treatment would be best for you, it could be single implants, dental implant bridges or even dental implant dentures which is why cost cannot be confirmed by the reception team.

Fantastic experience: I attended for a regular check up on Thursday. I'd had a few problems with a couple of teeth over a couple of weeks. My dentist sorted the issues at the appointment, avoiding my need to go back for a further appointment. I return in 6 Months for the next check up. It's good at the moment to have a regular NHS dentist given the present issues affecting the dental services.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been going to this dentist for over 10 years and always had great friendly staff from the receptionists to the dentist themselves they are always very helpful and informative regarding my treatments, my last appointment was an emergency and they not only did the emergency but managed to do a filling in less than 20 minutes they were very gentle and consistent,nobody likes to go to the dentist but I would more than happy to recommend them to anyone in need of treatment, blessings Paul.

Negative experience: The appointment was horrific from start to finish. I understand it was an emergency appointment but I've never felt so rushed in my life. I walked in 10 minutes before my appointment and was asked to fill in the medical form. Before I had a chance to fill them in I was in the chair being rushed to make a decision on having the tooth out or waiting for a dentist to take me on which I feel my option's were limited due to being taken off the books of my original dentist due to Covid. I then had the numbing injection and told to go back in the waiting room and finish off the forms. Called back in to have the tooth removed which was awful the dentist assistant was holding my head in place while the dentist pulled my bottom jaw down and repeatedly scraped my lip with the tool resulting in a sore and started yanking at the tooth it was an awful scene as she was clearly struggling to remove the tooth which makes me think the tooth was probably healthy enough to repair. My tooth next to the removed tooth has moved from the vigorous yanking.I was left upset and shaking to be handed a leaflet and sent back in the waiting room to finish off the medical forms. I sat in the waiting room crying and shaking as I didn't feel I was ready to drive.There was no advice given of after care, even though before the procedure i told the dentist I had recently had sepsis so I am prone to infection. I believe I should of had stitches from the way the tooth was removed. I was left with my gum flapping on the one side and the bleeding was filling up my mouth during the night 6 hours after the procedure.I was left with shards of tooth in my mouth due to no swilling or wash after the tooth was removed. Which concerned me as my mouth was numb and could of been a choking hazard. I have just returned from the doctors with two lots of antibiotics for an infection. I will 100% not be recommended mydentist Talbot Green to anyone.

Negative experience: Absolutely horrendous service. Came for a tooth extraction. I was under the impression they were removing one tooth, she used the anaesthetic without even telling me she was about to do it. While I was waiting for it to work I spoke to reception and asked for a different dentist as I found her quite rude. I was told the dentist would have a little chat with me, where she said "took you by surprise did I" no apology. I didn't have a different dentist. She then proceeded to remove the tooth without supporting my jaw properly. I already have issues with the joint in my jaw and as I was trying to explain this she didn't give me chance. While she was rocking the tooth she kept catching my lip on my teeth. The tooth was out and I thought that was all then she started on the tooth next to it and did the exact same. I wasn't told any after care but given a leaflet instead and she didn't even check if the bleeding had stopped before I left. Never coming here again. I made my initial appointment in march, and only now had the tooth extracted in September. I'm changing dentist for the rest of my treatment. (edit) I had to go to a and e due to the agony from my jaw, they've referred me to a tmj specialist, and want me to have an mri or ct scan to assess the ligament damage around the joint. I'm now struggling to open my mouth and can only drink soup through a straw. Seriously not happy with the treatment and lack of care I received here.

Fantastic experience: Always try and fit you in quickly if you have a problem, despite the long waiting list. I needed an urgent first appointment which took 3 weeks, quite a wait but I wasn't in pain. After that, they arranged another 3 appointments over 7 weeks which completed the course of treatment. They do make an effort to see you as soon as possible but there is inevitably some waiting time.

Negative experience: Arrived for an appointment, having paid a private consultation fee, the appointment had been moved back unknown to me ! Travelled 30 minutes to the appointment to find that the dental nurse who was working on reception was quite rude - reluctantly apologised - and advised me she was only human. !!!! Good communication skills to build a private practice. !

Negative experience: I had such bad experience . I went under emergency and The dentist wasn’t listening. She put injection with out care in my mouth . Did tooth extraction and when it could be saved . The attitude of staff and receptionist was so racist towards me. Not happy at sll

Fantastic experience: By completing the online detail before the appointment it meant that it was an easier transition from arriving to seeing the dentist. Positive experience: I had a very good experience as always. Didn’t have to wait long as my appointment was early in the day. Only 1 problem. I was asked if I pay for my treatment and as I am in receipt of Employment Support Allowance, I said no and filled in a form. I didn’t need treatment except for a clean and polish which I declined at the time as it would cost £53. On telling my daughter, she transferred me some money so I could book the appointment and paid over the phone. My friends suggested I shouldn’t have had to pay this charge because of the benefit I am on but this wasn’t suggested by any of the dental staff. Should I be entitled to a refund? Apart from this it was a 5 star service.
Thank you for your 4* review. It may help if I explain that a scale and polish is only available on the NHS if your dentist deems it to be clinically necessary. If you require a hygiene appointment for a purely cosmetic reason, this is not available on the NHS. Your dentist will be able to confirm this with you. We would encourage patients to ask their dentist if they are unclear as to why they are being referred to the Hygienist. Hygienists appointments are privately paid for and are not available on the NHS. Appointments are available subject to capacity. This should have been explained to you at the time and we apologise if it wasn't.

Negative experience: Always had a good experience with the practice and didn't agree with some low-scoring reviews. This review does not reflect the dental treatment I received in the past, rather the inability of having an examination and receiving any potential further treatment for many months to come. It is totally unacceptable that my family and I were waiting two months for an appointment just to be told that it has been cancelled , and told to wait another over 3 months to see the dentist! Obviously, the excuse is the same as everywhere - Covid. It almost forces on to lie that you're in pain to be seen quicker than that.

Negative experience: I want to make it clear, this review in no way reflects the dental treatment I have received. It 100% relates to the admin function at this practice. The dental treatment I have received at this practice was excellent and I have no qualms at all in relation to this. I do, however, have a huge problem with the fact that they are totally inconsistent with pricing and fees. For a practice that prides themselves on transparency of fees, they sure seem to have a problem with calculating them correctly. At the very beginning of my treatment, I was quoted one figure and then via email and phone I was quoted HUNDREDS more. I have email evidence of this. Every time I attended the dentist during the course of my treatment, I was charged a different figure to what i had previously been quoted, sometimes less sometimes more. What put the final cherry on the cake was at the end of my very successful treatment I attended reception to pay any outstanding monies (knowing there was no way I could even take a guess at what that might be). I was advised at this time (after checking and DOUBLE checking with my Dentist) that there was nothing left to pay. Understandable given that my attendance was simply to seal a gap left from root canal and whitening. WEEKS later, I received a phone call asking me to pay £110 for the FILLING I had received on my last appointment. I explained the situation politely and the receptionist put me on hold before the line cut off. I heard nothing more on this matter until weeks later when I received a letter telling me to pay £110 within 7 days. To clarify, this was over a month after my final treatment. I am so disappointed as I had been very positive on social media regarding me experience despite multiple administrative slip ups throughout my treatment but then to be accused of dashing out on my final payment (after paying over £500 for my treatment) absolutely disgusts me. I'd be reluctant to attend the practice again.
