The location of the practice is within walking distance from the town centre. The practice has 8 surgeries in a beautiful listed building over 3 floors. The practice features a downstairs surgery for disabled patients. Parking options include Parkway Multi Storey Car Park that is approximately 4 minutes walk away. We do however offer disabled parking within the staff car park next to the disabled entrance. If you are visiting us by public transport, Bury St Edmunds bus station is approximately 4 minutes walk away.

Negative experience: When using this dentist the website a nd government pages say taking on NHS but this is not the case and been told not the case since 2017. Very misleading.
Our website does state 'accepting new patients', and I can confirm that we are accepting NHS patients at the practice. However, new patient appointments are offered subject to capacity and are limited in number. Regrettably we cannot offer an NHS space to everyone who contacts us each day requiring care.

Fantastic experience: Took my daughter for her first check up today after years of worry and fear. From the second she stepped into Teresa’s treatment room, she was at ease. Teresa quickly asked about her school day, she spoke to her in a manner that left her feeling nothing but calm and reassured throughout. She explained the tools she was using, she showed her how to use the water spray and even let her have a go to really involve her in preparation for her next check up. I appreciated Teresa’s approach so much today as I too had started to worry about how the appointment would go and if my daughter would even sit in the chair, let alone open her mouth. Would highly recommend this dentist and felt it only right to give a positive review!

Fantastic experience: Excellent dentist. The receptionists are helpful and friendly, the dental nurses are also great, but the dentist is absolutely amazing!! Aisha was kind, explained every step of the procedure so we knew what was happening and worked quickly and painlessly. For a child who has fear of the dentist, she was just what we needed. Brilliant!

Negative experience: Customer service is not good and from reading other reviews this is something reoccurring. Receptionist was not helpful plus had a bad attitude. Having worked as front of house I understand it can be a testing role however you cant be like that, especially to new patients.

Negative experience: Had a hygienist appointment with Emily. It was not pleasant. I felt lectured at and she kept on at me to be still. She didn't smile, and I came away distressed. Every other appointment across the practice I have had over ten years has been excellent. Emily needs some "bedside manners", it's no use lecturing people. I go to the hygienist for help, not to be made to seem stupid. She didn't greet me or use my name. The nurse was lovely and very helpful.

Negative experience: This dental clinic has an excellent dentist, and I’ve used their services several times in the past without any complaints. However, the customer service, particularly one specific staff member, has been the worst I’ve encountered in years. Whenever this person is on duty, I can’t book appointments, and my checkups are often canceled without explanation. Last Thursday, I called for an emergency appointment because a tooth that was treated previously became very painful. During my initial treatment a few months ago, the dentist had warned me that if this happened, it might require a root canal. Despite explaining my situation, the person assigned me to a less experienced dentist, Ahmed, who refused to treat me. I had already paid for the emergency appointment, yet I couldn’t get the help I urgently needed. When I requested to see my previous dentist, I was told she was too busy. I was advised to call back at 8:00 a.m. sharp, but each time I do and this staff member answers, there are mysteriously no emergency appointments available. To make matters worse, I know someone who recently called later in the day and managed to get an appointment. Being in constant pain for five days now, relying on painkillers, has been a nightmare. This particular staff member shows no empathy for people in need and doesn’t seem capable of prioritizing work effectively. Frankly, I don’t think she should be in this position. I sincerely hope that the next time I call, someone else answers, so I can finally resolve my tooth problem. The lack of support during such a painful experience is deeply frustrating, and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Fantastic experience: I had many teeth damaged by a serious fall. The treatment I received at mydentist was first rate. The staff were always so kind and reassuring. The treatment was never rushed and all my questions were met with understanding and patience. I can now smile again and enjoy a good variety of foods I have not attempted for the last six months. Negative experience: I am hoping to have teeth whitening treatment. Although My Dentist is not my dentist, I contacted them amongst other dentists for costs of this procedure. All gave me their costs. My dentist told me I had to have a consultation costing £65 before they could tell me the cost. As I thought this was a reasonably priced dentist, I thought they may be for the whitening, so I paid for the consultation and then was told the cost was in excess of £500 Way above other estimates I had been given. So the £65 was wasted, which was probably my fault, but why could they not have told me the cost of whitening in the first place. It just seemed an excuse to collect another fee.
We value your input. All our prices are available on line for private treatments, where a whitening consultation is booked should you go ahead with the treatment the fee would then be deducted from the whole treatment cost. We do have a number of different options available that start from around £299. We apologise if this was not made clear from the initial contact.

Negative experience: I’ve been with this dentist for over 25 years. Now. I’m told I have to go privately with a cost of £95 just to be seen. Outrageous. The hygienist which used to be £40 is now £88.
Thank you for your feedback. Your previous treating dentist has taken the decision to move away from offering NHS dental services. Due to this they are no longer able to offer NHS appointments and are offering dentistry on a private only basis. This change has reduced NHS capacity at your practice. Until NHS capacity can be expanded, the practice does offer alternative private options. These are provided outside of their NHS commitments. We hope that these alternatives will help some patients to access dental care at this time. Please contact the practice should you require more information; they will be happy to discuss with you your needs.

Fantastic experience: Saw Dr Sahar and her assistant Ichula. They were ready when I arrived so I didn’t have to wait to be seen. They had also already reviewed all my past records and X-rays before the appointment. They both introduced themselves and asked what the appointment was for and if I had any other concerns. I had previously gone back to the orthodontist before to remove glue from braces but, they never properly did this and I’ve had it for some years. I mentioned this and Dr Sahar kindly removed this all for me in addition to the reason I booked the appointment. Thank you ever so much Dr Sahar and Ichula. I might add I mentioned to someone how good of an experience I had afterwards and they knew the exact dentist I was talking about as they had the same experience in the past with Dr Sahar.

Negative experience: The last experience of trying to make a booking with My Dentist was nothing short of abissmal. I had no referral or future booking arranged for a continued toothache after the fourth try of communication. I decided to go private in Stowmarket where I recieved immediate dental care for a gum infection including prescribed anti biotics.

Fantastic experience: Visited today for an emergency appointment that they fitted in last minute for me. The dentist I saw today (Sahar) was very helpful and went out of her way to ensure I was treated today. She shuffled her meeting to later in the day to ensure I was treated today. I had to have a tooth extraction and she talked me through the whole procedure and consistently ensured I wasn’t in pain. I was really pleased with the great service I received today, and the reception staff were very friendly too. Highly recommended!

Negative experience: I, like so many others, had been an NHS patient with this service for several years and had found them to be adequate for the most part, but the service I received recently has forced me to change my dental care provider. Having managed to break part of one of my teeth, I called the reception team to see if I could get seen as an emergency, and was informed I would need to call back at 8 am. Which, fair play, that's how this works. What they *neglected* to inform me was that there was only *one* emergency appointment across the entire surgery the following day... When I called up, I was informed the appointment was taken someone who called before me (I rang *bang on* 8 o'clock, too) and that I would simply have to try my luck the following day. No offer of alternatives or regular appointments with other dentists at the surgery, no nothing. Having been at this dental surgery for so long I was absolutely appalled by the lack of empathy and the fact that somehow, someone thought that having only the one emergency appointment available for NHS patients was acceptable! I can understand they're having staffing issues (though, frankly, I think I can understand *why* they are), but this is ridiculous. If you are an NHS patient, this surgery is okay at best if you're desperate, but you're probably better off elsewhere. Frankly. The only thing this surgery has going for them is their hygienist, Kerry Shoesmith-Dean, whom I have been a regular with for as long as I've been there, and whom I will miss. But this treatment is unacceptable. All this after having moved my regular check up appointment from early this year back to *September* (over 12 months after my previous appointment) with no offers of alternatives, either! I have filed a formal complaint with MyDentist but don't expect to see anything back from it and honestly don't much care at this point if I do.

Negative experience: The worst dentist you could possibly find. Started treatment for braces then my dentist left so treatment then stopped and now being told i’ll have to wait. I’ve had to find another dentist 45 minutes away, who has said the brackets are all in the wrong place and i should of had teeth out. Avoid this dentist at all costs.

Negative experience: I have a disability entailing visible difference. It does not bother me yet my appointment in November 2023 consisted of alarmism, which began as soon as I walked through the door. "Oh my God!" the hygienist said. This put me in a very unpleasant position and nobody likes going to the dentist anyhow. I also discovered the dental practice had not even recorded my medical condition, despite being a patient there for a couple of years. I put in a formal complaint and their response consisted in denial and blaming the patient! That I was late etc (I was 15 minutes early). It is not acceptable to deal with complaints by making accusations against the complainant! They did not even put the correct postage on the envelope meaning I had to pay for the postage. I'll be escalating this.

Each time we had to wait another at least 6 months !! I was curious why they not letting patients now early enough if they are fully aware that a doctor is long term off sick?! Negative experience: Whilst very polite on reception the NHS waiting list is 4 and a half YEARS! This is not a joke or a review to cause harm to what I suspect is a lovely practice.

Negative experience: Consecutively bad experiences at this practice. Three bad experiences. A tooth removal which was ripped out in less than 10 seconds, so was then chucked into the waiting room to nearly pass out. Teeth whitening experience which never happened as they had the wrong moulds, but they still tried to force the moles in my mouth anyway knowing full well they weren’t my teeth. Check up - after being 15 minutes late for an appointment, when I’m usually kept waiting for at least 15 minutes , I’m told I will have to re-book. Really bad experiences. Thanks

Fantastic experience: Always have good experiences here. Todays visit was no different. Was checked in swiftly. Given clear directions to the waiting room. Sat in the waiting room for roughly 8 seconds before being called in. Me and my boy were very well looked after by Fran and Charlotte. Negative experience: Terrible service. Having been told as leaving surgery there was nothing to pay, they sent a final bill a few weeks later. Rang to dispute the bill but never heard back from practice manager. Then received a notice that it would be passed to debt collector unless settled. Rang to follow up and admin staff told me rudely that it would be passed to debt collector despite there being a dispute over the amount. Furthermore the practice manager was not available to discuss it. We decided easier to pay it (I guess that’s what they were hoping for). On ringing back I was berated for being rude to them, all the while having to tolerate rudeness from them. I tried to move forward to pay the bill but they continued in being rude to me. In the end I put the phone down because I couldn’t achieve what I needed. Ended up having to drive to them to pay in cash. I won’t go anywhere near them again. This review has been left on behalf of the Ukrainian refugee we had staying with us. It’s for the correct dental practice.

Negative experience: Really disgusting customer service from the Reception team. They cancelled my appointment several times due to sickness, fair enough, that happens. But this did go on for some time and when I simply tried to query if someone else was going to be hired temporarily as this was months and months she screamed down phone and hung up! I was completely civil and it was unjustified. My husband has had dental work done there, it isn’t lasting too well and he said dentists were unprofessional to the point where he even wondered if they were dentists! Would avoid at all costs.

Positive experience: The service from the dentist was great. However I did not like being asked to pay for the consultation before I went in. This made me feel as though you did not trust me. I have also paid up front for the hygienist, but the session was cancelled due to illness.

The policy was introduced as it was becoming very evident across the business, that patients, who were booking and then cancelling appointments with no notice, or just not turning up for their appointments, were having a negative effect on our practices. Both in terms of the unfilled surgery time that went to waste and the financial impact these missed appointments have on our clinicians and our business.
I hope that this has clarified our position and reassured you that this is not in any way personal but standard practice.

Fantastic experience: I am so impressed with the way my treatment went today, I saw Dr Lyupcho Who had advised me I would need my wisdom tooth surgically removed. I was so nervous as I had never had a tooth extracted before let alone surgically. The whole process was absolutely amazing, Phoebe (the nurse) made me feel so comfortable and held my hand when she could tell I was getting a bit stressed, Luke was absolutely amazing and was reassuring me through the whole procedure which was so helpful. I highly recommend this dental practice, they are lovely people and really care for their patients.

But having been a customer of 20 years, and having never missed an appointment, I felt insulted to be asked for a deposit to book my latest treatment - and even more so to be asked for a balance payment before visiting the hygienist. Negative experience: Further to the response from mydentist below. Ridiculous reply. Your standard apology text in NOT ACCEPTED. I am sorry that I have to EXPLAIN ONE AGAIN. On the day we were sitting and waiting and waiting and when asking what is happening we were told that the dentist was not even in the clinic. Mr Saju, the dentist (who is a partner to the clinic, I understand) when finally arriving did not even apologize for being extremely late but was pushed by myself for an explanation. He just replied, super arrogantly, that he had to do school run which was more important then honoring the job appointments (and basically that my time does not count). I am not heading to a dental clinic paying in advance with my own money, just to wait for a Dentist who is not even at site. And then in the end being offered a re-appointment. ARE YOU JOKING?? I certainly stand by the fully deserved review. DO NOT USE MYDENTIST in Bury St Edmunds. There are lots of other and better dental clinics in Bury where the dentists are actually in the house when you have an appointment. Dental Practice absolutely not to be recommended. Having arrived well in time for the appointment today and after waiting 45 minutes I was told that the dentist Mr. Saju was not even in the building. When the he finally arrived more than an hour late and only when I raised the issue Saju arrogantly and rudely told me that it was not his fault the he was late as he has to do a school run. It was the receptions fault that he was extremely late. Is that my problem? Going to the reception I was told that it was Dentist Saju's fault. What an unpleasant mess....
