Fantastic experience: Just a check up but oh so thorough. The last dentist I went to, my check up lasted no more tha 2 minutes. It was NHS and I guess you get what you pay for but my mind was made up from then on in and I haven’t looked back since. Have had a false tooth since then and found the process easy and more importantly didn’t feel a thing including having a tooth extracted. My teeth have suffered as a consequence of having had cancer so I now feel that I am definitely in the right place.

Fantastic experience: What an amazing experience coming in to have Antoine help me with my phobia of dentist appointments. Over the Christmas period I had a gum infection develop, suspected pop corn stuck between my wisdom tooth and gum which was dealt with at the NHS as an emergency. Following up with the NHS dental recommendations, registering with Antoine at Dolphin Square Dentist to follow up on the recent issue and have the required works done. A full deep clean of my teeth, one filling and correction of two chipped teeth later, I can now say my fears of dentist have now gone away. Antoine made me feel so comfortable and relaxed when working on my teeth, I didn't feel a thing. I wish I had registered at this dentist years ago and wouldn't of had a childhood phobia. Highly recommended and will be back in 6 months for a check up and a regular hygienist deep clean moving forward now. Thank you very much Antoine

Fantastic experience: I must share a great experience today with Amir and Kelly. Undergoing a lengthy procedure for a replacement crown, I was so well looked after. Amir went out of the way to save my tooth (which would have meant an extraction otherwise). Kelly kept me calm and 11/2 hours later I was released to enjoy the rest of my day. I highly recommend My Dentist and the service received by both the reception team (Nicola) and a special thanks to Amir and Kelly.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to this dental practice for over a year now with both regular check ups and hygienist appointments. I have been given two on the day appointments recently to be seen for advice with some problems I’ve had and they were so helpful at fitting me in. All staff I’ve seen have only ever been kind and professional. I’d really recommend this place and they’ve made it so easy for me to keep coming back without any anxieties.

Fantastic experience: I had a back molar removed yesterday by Dr Swetha Sabaratnam at MyDentist, Tring. She is a strong communicator, asking me how I was at each stage of the process and taking me through each step. She is also very caring. My sister had to come into the dental room with me, because she has Alzheimer’s disease and could wander off. She was happy for her to sit in the room with us. My sister liked a song that was on the radio and she was singing along quietly. Dr Swetha raised the volume on the radio so that my sister could hear it better and sing along properly. It’s things like this that may seem small to some but are very significant to me. The overall quality of care was excellent. Thanks Dr Swetha.

Fantastic experience: My dentist is Amir Haji and he takes time to listen, answer questions and treat you, always explaining what needs to be done and when. I highly recommend him and MyDentist Tring.

Fantastic experience: This morning I had a hygienist appointment with Juanisha. There was an equipment issue which was resolved. Juanisha kept me updated, was apologetic and despite things going wrong outside of her control she remained calm and had a smile. I’ve had Juanisha for the last year and she is always happy and great at communicating and a generally nice person. Always had a good experience in Tring. The reception staff are always happy to help as well.

Fantastic experience: I was initially a bit nervous about my appointment with Dr. Shahid Mahmood due to a few negative reviews I came across beforehand. However, I’m really glad I went ahead with it, because my experience was completely different — and very positive. Dr. Mahmood was professional, polite, and took the time to explain everything clearly. He guided me through the entire process, especially regarding cleaning and overall dental hygiene, which I really appreciated. His calm and friendly behavior helped put me at ease. Sometimes online reviews can give a skewed picture, but in my case, I had a great experience and would confidently recommend Dr. Mahmood for dental care at mydentist.

Negative experience: I had an extremely disappointing experience with Shahid Mahmood during a check-up for my niece and nephew. Both children were understandably nervous for their first dental visit, but instead of helping to ease their anxiety, the dentist was cold, unwelcoming, and completely unapproachable. There was no attempt to build rapport or make them feel comfortable. The appointments were rushed, lasting barely two minutes per child. It felt like we were being hurried through a conveyor belt rather than receiving proper care. When I raised concerns about how a thorough check-up could be done in such a short time, I was met with a curt and dismissive response: “I’ve been doing this for 10 years.” This kind of arrogance, paired with poor communication skills, is unacceptable in any healthcare setting—especially when dealing with children. Overall, the lack of professionalism, empathy, and genuine patient care was deeply concerning. I would not recommend Shahid Mahmood to anyone—especially not for pediatric appointments.

Fantastic experience: Amir Haji is my 8 year old daughters dentist and he has been amazing. My daughter has hypo-mineralisation so her back molars do not have enough enamel and he had to put adult fillings in to try and preserve them for as long as possible. He is so good the way he keeps her calm and talking to her through the whole process. Really impressed.

Positive experience: The actual dentist I saw was quick and efficient but I went with a dental trauma and was made to pay for a check up that never actually happened. I asked about my other teeth and was told to book in for the trauma repair and the other stuff would be discussed next time - it wasn’t. The receptionists pretty much ignore you. I get they are busy but acknowledging someone when they walk in and letting them know you will deal with them in a moment instead of saying hello and greeted with silence from three unfriendly admin staff just feels plain rude. A smile probably wouldn’t hurt either. Private prices are fair and offers nhs.

Negative experience: So sad , been with this dentist for over 20 years , but had to cancel being with them , because I now have motor neuron, an now use a wheelchair, they haven't any way to get disabled people up to the clinic, very sad about this. But when I called them to ask they just went bothered about the situation, guess disabled people don't matter to them

Positive experience: Really friendly team - so different from the experience I grew up with / endured in my early adulthood. Amir in particular is great with little kids. My whole family is registered as NHS patients, which feels a rarity. The only thing I’d query is the value of the hygienist appointments - £65 (I think) for 15-20mins seems a little steep, but I understand NHS appointments are a loss-leader these days so they have to balance the books somehow.

Fantastic experience: Never forgotten that when I was in college that the front desk tried to make me pay after my checkup because it was summer holidays and in their mind that means term time is over so students have to pay for NHS services that are free... I was a student with little money so had to walk out and cancel my next check-up because the lady was adamant and power crazy. Went back a week later and crazy person is not there, so I got my appointment fixed. Haven't seen them in a few months now! Thank you to the meteor that removed that dinosaur from the front desk, I'm no longer worried of finding a fossil at the dentists.

Fantastic experience: Happy, welcoming staff, and a lovely, fantastic dentist who is always fantastic at making you feel relaxed. I registered at Tring MyDentist approx 8 months ago as where I live, West Dorset, this dentist was the nearest to my home - some 165 miles away - that was excepting new NHS patients after looking, phoning etc etc for weeks! All the dentists in this corner of the country changed to private treatments only, and those few that remain NHS were not excepting new patients or permanently closed altogether. Brilliant service, very professional. Welcoming, clean, and bright surgery and reception. Happy to accommodate my appointments for last time slot as possible in the day as it takes me approx 4 hours to get from a to b, if the travel is hold-up free that is . Usually seen within 5 minutes of appointment time. Sooo happy I've now found this fantastic dentist. truely, can't fault them and I am looking forward to many more relaxing visits! Perfect!

Negative experience: Disappointing day for my first visit here, waited an hour then when I asked how much longer I was told the system didn’t check me in and now the dentists running behind and I’ll have to make another appointment. I escalated this and then got given another dentist after a further wait. The dentist looked at my teeth and said my teeth are fine and nothing needs doing. I said are you sure as my last dentist said I have deep pockets and gum disease and need quarterly scale and polishing but he said it’s not needed so after an hours wait saw me for only 4 mins and sent me out. Made me feel like I was fobbed off. I’m sticking with Watermead dental might not be on the NHS but better paying the extra than wasting my time in this place.

Negative experience: Third world treatment for my son unfortunately. Also, dentist and staff promise to follow up and don't. Promised to be informed of an upcoming tooth extraction appointment for my son, but it didn't happen following on from a list of orthodontist appointments, which are very hard to come by. I found that the staff here do not check their voice mail messages or emails and communication is a necessity. Delays cause more and more problems down the line for my teenage son's treatment.

Negative experience: Always, always running late, even with an appointment before 9am, it’s not good enough if I walked in late for every appointment they’d refuse to see me.

Fantastic experience: I am so pleasantly surprised and impressed with the incredible service my 9 year old received during her 2 fillings. The sedation doctor was absolutely amazing, he took real time to explain the procedure and put both my very anxious daughter and myself at ease. I could not compliment this team and especially the sedation doctor (Excuse me for forgetting, I believe he was South African).

Negative experience: I will stay clear after listening to the worst advice and having work carried out. I walked in with no issues as a check up… got advised to have work done under NHS and agreed as I trusted them. I now have long term problems, extremely sensitive teeth, can’t chew hard things where work was conducted and it felt like I was on a conveyor belt…Will never go back there.

Negative experience: I've tolerated this dental surgery for a few years but December was the final straw! I had a check up booked it got cancelled twice (not a problem as it was their member of staff with covid) but they promised to ring me back and never did! This is not the first time....I tried for days to get through with no reply/left answer phone messages as per their answer phone request and emailed twice with no response!!! There are more efficient dentists out there so I would recommend trying them before this useless lot!

Fantastic experience: This dentist was recommended to me by a friend, I have always had a terrible fear of the dentist due to the old school dentist in the 60s. I managed to get am emergency appointment yesterday, it took a great deal of courage for me to walk into my dentist on my own, the stress levels were high. I was given 2 forms to fill in without a pen to do it. Once I completed the forms I returned to the receptionist to hand the forms back, I asked her do I keep these forms I was ignored she then replied in her time I will take theme, a bit rude I thought. However I then met the dentist Alodia, who was polite and explained my treatment for the emergency appointment, althought this was an emergency appointment I will be returning at the end of the month to have a more thorough check up and discuss my options Debbie

Negative experience: I can't understand the positive reviews here. I can only assume this is based on the dentists themselves, who have, for the most part been fine, but the administrative staff have been repeatedly unhelpful and officious. They provided little to no help when my autistic son had issues with his teeth and needed to be referred to a specialist orthadentist, when they seemed to be both unable and unwilling to share patient data and x-rays between the two parties. In the end it involved the farcical process of my wife walking between the two places with Cd-Rom discs in order to be able to get the case progressed (with our son suffering from chronic tooth pain through the days that this whole episode took). And then, our latest interaction has revealed that they have de-registered both my wife and I. Apparently they sent out texts - which neither of us received - no letter, no phone call, no e-mail. This comes even after we called them twice during lockdown to find out when they were re-opening for appointments (no mention then of de-registering us). Furthermore, they have no record of my wife's last appointment - even though she always attends for her appointments with my daughter, who has not been de-registered. Of course, we can now register as private patients, but not at NHS patients. The constant feel through all of these interactions is one of "computer says no". We asked whether there was anyone we could talk to about the deregistering, and we're just told "I've spoken to my manager, we've gt the right mobile number for you - you were sent a text." At the end of the day, there's just a really bad culture of service amongst the admin staff - I'd steer well clear.
