Welcome to mydentist Westoe Road, South Shields. We are an 8-surgery practice with 12 clinicians on hand to provide a variety of NHS and private treatment plans including dentures, take home teeth whitening and orthodontic service, Invisalign. Our practice is a 3 minute walk from Westoe Road bus stop and an 11 minute walk from South Shields and Chichester train station, with limited public parking surrounding the practice. If you have any questions or would like to book in for a consultation the team would love to hear from you. We welcome all patients to our practice and ensure all individuals are treated with the utmost care and attention from our highly skilled staff. We look forward to seeing you soon.

Fantastic experience: I had an issue with a rear molar which fractured. There were a couple of very sharp edges that was lacerating the tounge. Mr Ng. Very kindly managed to get me in for an appointment. He successfully removed the molar and cured the problem. I can't thank him enough for his professionalism. Fantastic experience: Great practice, they try and arrange appointments around you, very pleasant staff and the dentist always asks about your health , gives good advice on oral hygiene and keeping plaque down.Mr NG also checks your whole mouth for ulcers and nasties that can lurk about. He's very much into the prescribed medication that can cause oral problems and medication that you personally are prescribed.

Positive experience: Went today but i was 7 minutes late due to my bus being late. I phoned to let them now but he had me down as a dna when I did arrive. I asked if I could be swapped with the next patient and was told they hadn't arrived yet. So why was I turned away. It was only a checkup. Surely they have some lee way.

Fantastic experience: From the time of entering the dental surgery welcomed by the reception team Also welcomed by the dental nurse and the dentist Explanation about what my treatment entailed Good care and attention during treatment After treatment an update on what was required of myself to ensure everything stays positive All in all a very positive experience and I would recommend this dental surgery to any one first rate

Negative experience: I am disabled and haven't been able to get to the Dentist (covid too) and I was kicked off. With no warning or notification. Zero empathy or help from them. Very rude. Avoid if you have any form of mental health issues.
I am sorry to hear that you have experienced problems accessing NHS dental care at your practice. It is the case historically that most dental practices will operate on the basis that so long as a patient attends appointments regularly and the NHS contract capacity allow for it, a practice will always continue to see a patient and offer NHS care. However, as demand for NHS places is so high in many areas, if a patient has not been seen at practice for a period of over approximately 2 years (this can vary practice to practice), they will offer that NHS space to another person seeking NHS care.

Fantastic experience: These guys are total superheroes from the receptionists to the actual dentists. They fitted in my young son with emergency care within half an hour. I've seen of the difficult cases they have had to deal with, and they bend over backwards even with difficult to deal with people. If theres a nobel prize for practices, these guys deserve it

Fantastic experience: Brilliant dentist practice my whole family have been going for years . My father , whose 87 , used to go to a different dentist. I took him 3 times lately and they got every appointment mixed up . I changed my dads appointment to the same dentist as me and he’s been fitted with new dentures which are perfect , quite a big deal for a mature man ! He’s over the moon , thank you all for your professionalism , kindness and perfect organisation .

Negative experience: Not nice. Isn’t taking new patients when they have an emergency. Has a tooth infection and lots of mouth/gums in pain radiating to the ears at this point and giving a headache.
Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, as this practice is already at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are currently unable to offer you an NHS place. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options for patients to access dentistry, outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. We will always offer patients this option as an alternative, so our patients can make an informed choice on their dental care.

Positive experience: I was given a leaflet about care of the mouth after an extraction full of useful information. Almost the last line it's says please contact dental practice if you have severe pain. I have pain but it's all relative, I contacted the practice who advised next appointment with my dentist was March 2022, or to see someone else was try phone Monday to hope a cancellation was available. My dentist advised me of possible infections and I would get antibiotics. To say I am disappointed is an understatement. I have been taking codomol to ease my discomfort. Will hope it improves by Monday when I will go to practice rather than phone.
We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the services you received from our Practice. I would like to apologise for your experience and recommend that you contact the practice and ask to speak to the Practice Manager about your experience if you have not managed to do this previously.
