Fantastic experience: I visited B Dental today for a specialist consultation, from first contact with this dentist it is clear that they are professional, diligent and reliable. Leela on reception was extremely helpful and approachable, going the extra mile to help me with a referral. My appointment was with Shima who has a friendly and reassuring demeanour, which is important for those that get anxiety around anything dental/health related. She did a comprehensive examination and kindly talked me through the symptoms I was having, confidently explaining the cause and showing images which helped a lay person understand. Importantly, I left feeling confident thanks to Shima explaining all the possible outcomes and next steps. Highly recommended, really impressed.

Fantastic experience: Great customer service

Negative experience: This has been the most frustrating and disappointing dental experience I have ever had. After more than a year of repeated appointments, escalating pain, unnecessary procedures, and mounting costs, I am left genuinely questioning the competence and judgment of this practice. When my molar was first treated by Dr Faye in February 2024, I had barely any symptoms. I was not clearly told that the filling was “deep,” that a fracture line had been seen, or that the tooth was at risk of failing. In my view, the lack of clear communication at this early stage set the tone for everything that followed. From the moment the filling was placed, I reported pain on biting again and again—something I later learned is a glaring warning sign for a cracked tooth. Yet instead of properly investigating this, I was put through a carousel of treatments: two onlays, bite adjustments, multiple consultations, and internal referrals. The pain never went away. It only got worse. I then developed hot and cold sensitivity. Later, during an emergency appointment at another clinic, I was told the tooth had irreversible pulpitis. Weeks later, their own specialist said it was reversible pulpitis and cracked tooth syndrome. The inconsistency alone is alarming, but what’s worse is that it suggests so much of this ordeal could have been avoided if the obvious symptoms had been taken seriously from the start. I have spent over a year in pain, lost sleep, dealt with ongoing stress, and paid a significant amount of money — including for an onlay that ultimately made no difference — all while the real problem was overlooked. In my opinion, the handling of my case showed a lack of proper investigation, poor communication, and a failure to meet a reasonable standard of care. After everything I’ve been through, I cannot recommend this practice to anyone. My experience has been nothing short of exhausting, expensive, and completely avoidable.

Positive experience: Good practise but overpriced. It seems more focused on billing you than doing good work. I had a session that was rushed and expensive. Occasionally it's incredibly hard to get an appointment.

Negative experience: Money-driven practice — I was charged the full session price even though the dentist was running late due to tube/train delays. I had to make a scene at reception just to get the fee reduced. The clinic’s fees are also on the higher end compared to other dental practices on Upper Street, yet this isn’t reflected in the quality of their service. I’m taking my money elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly staff and very professional service, no need to contact the insurance provider, they do it directly.

Negative experience: Mirroring some of the reviews, having visited the practice myself and with my family for a number of years, I felt the business was not forthcoming about the cost of certain services. Last month, I was charged over £800 for a polyp removal and biopsy, with the latter alone costing more than £700. When I requested a letter from the practice to support an insurance claim, I was simply told that the procedure did not qualify as an emergency or one necessitated by a potential health concern. While I did sign a consent form prior to the procedure, the cost of the biopsy was never disclosed to me. At the time, I felt the service was presented in a highly persuasive manner, almost as if it were being "sold" to me. B Dental remains a decent practice overall, but I find their prices higher than other clinics on Upper Street. Coupled with this negative experience, they've lost my household as their customers.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this practice for multiple check-ups now, and most recently had some veneers and a retainer fit done due to weakening from teeth grinding. Dr. Rose has been absolutely fantastic throughout – really attentive, professional, and always made sure I was comfortable at every stage of the treatment. She took the time to explain all the different treatment options in detail, which really helped me feel confident in the decisions we made together. Leela at the reception has also been amazing – super helpful and informative, especially when it came to answering my questions. Overall, it's a great practice; efficient, friendly, and offering top-quality service. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: Disappointed //I was charged £150 for a missed appointment, even though we spoke at 11:45 (for an 11:30–13:00 slot) to explain and request a reschedule. It was an honest mistake — a one-time, unintentional issue — but the person on the phone showed no understanding and told me bluntly that I had to pay immediately. This experience showed a complete lack of flexibility. I won’t be using their services again, and I’d advise others to be cautious, especially regarding their strict and costly cancellation policy.

Fantastic experience: This is the best dental office I've ever been to, in any country. The level of professionalism, knowledge and proactive problem solving is really exceptional! They offer a wide variety of services, up to and including dental implants and root canal treatments, so there's no need to rush out and search for a second practice if some complex problems need to be addressed. My dentist, Dr. Tu Anh Chau, is the first dentist in years who decided not to "observe" the problems with some of my teeth as other dentists have done in the past (because they weren't sure how to fix them?), she just went ahead and solved them. For example, one of my fillings had a deep crack for years, but no dentist wanted to replace it because the tooth would become "too unstable". Then Dr. Tu Anh Chau went ahead and put in an Onlay which fixed it. These are expensive, but I sure wish other dentists would have at least told me they are an option, instead of me getting used to a bit of pain while eating... She also discovered some root canal problems several other dentists have been overlooking for years. I was losing bone mass following a root canal treatment from years ago due to an infection that progressed to the bone. The root canal specialist, Dr. Shima Mahdavi-Izadi, then took over my care and re-did the root canal treatment, all without damaging the existing crown, after a thorough walkthrough of the steps and risks and contingency plans. Even the entire reception team is really kind and professional - they are always happy to help and to answer any additional questions. They are a private practice, and depending on your cover, the treatment cost may be high. But after years of learning to eat slowly because so many of my teeth would just hurt, despite constant dentists visits, I'm incredibly happy to have found a practice with the competence to actually help! Thank you!!!

Negative experience: This place seems relatively organised although it is more about maximising profits than patient care. They are extremely overpriced. I had multiple questionable charges on my invoice after a failed treatment, and when I compared the cost of a root canal and crown to other dental surgeries, B Dental was considerably more expensive in comparison. I felt really exploited after having been desperate for treatment. I had an emergency treatment needed which they took several days to arrange when I desperately needed it but then when they wanted to move a different appointment on another occasion, I was telephoned, texted and emailed constantly. Also, when their dentists are running late, there is no courtesy call to let you know so you end up having to wait. It is a shame because most of the people who work here are reasonably pleasant. I will not be returning.

Sounds like an odd thing to say but the root canal was almost pleasant such is the sense of comfort you get from the expertise of Shima and her assistant. As good as it gets I reckon.

Negative experience: TOTALLY INADEQUATE DISABLED ACCESS! THERE IS NO FIXED RAMP! I am a doctor, recently retired, wheelchair-bound for four years. I have been a patient of the practice for many years and always very satisfied with the treatment I have received and with its dentists, dental nurses, dental hygienists and receptionists, to all of whom I give ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️! BUT: Every time I arrive or leave, a flimsy removable piece of metal is precariously balanced over the threshold. It feels more like being thrown into the reception area on arrival, understandably causing alarm to waiting patients. Likewise thrown back onto the pavement on leaving, causing alarm to passers by. Despite YEARS of promises that BUPA would rectify the situation, NOTHING has been done. This is UNACCEPTABLE and possibly illegal.

Fantastic experience: Best dentist!

Negative experience: I had a wonderful experience during my first visit, thanks to Sabine Liu, and I highly recommend her. Unfortunately, my second visit was the opposite. The dentist I saw (whose name I won’t mention) provided a rushed service, even stating that we are tight on time. Additionally, she spoke to me in a condescending manner, asking things like "Do you know the word 'matt?'" Having lived, studied and worked in the UK for six years, I do have an accent, but being treated in such a dismissive way was both hurtful and unprofessional. Unfortunately, this experience has made me decide not to return.

Fantastic experience: I came in with a botched root canal from a previous provider, but the care I received here was absolutely outstanding. From the moment I walked in, the team was warm, professional, and clearly experts in their field. The procedure was redone with remarkable precision and skill—and, to my relief, it was completely pain-free. Dr. Akeel Mosea was exceptional in providing me with clear and thorough explanations, ensuring I felt comfortable with every step of my treatment for a recent wisdom tooth extraction. I have had multiple wisdom tooth extractions before and my experience with Dr Mosea was by far the best. Dr. Pranay Patel was equally outstanding. Dr. Patel's clinical eye and methodical approach allowed him to detect and solve an underlying tooth issue that had been bothering me for a while - this was a a problem other dentists had missed. His work on the dental filling was nothing short of brilliant, both in terms of precision and the flawless result. A special mention must go to Chante, who was instrumental in coordinating my appointments, insurance information, reminders and ensuring that everything ran smoothly overall. I did not need to worry about anything once I knew Chante was on top of managing my appointments. Her warm and welcoming approach made the whole experience even better. All three of the above were charming, personable and a pleasure to interact with. Overall, the team at B Dental exemplifies what top-notch dental care should be: professional, timely, and most importantly patient-focused. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and caring dental practice in the Islington area. Fantastic experience: This was my second appointment with Rubika (hyginiest), and she has been amazing throughout the entire process. I mentioned to her that I was feeling quite anxious about the treatment, and I felt that she took my concerns seriously. Rubika explained each step she was taking and made sure that I felt safe. After the treatment, she also provided me with detailed instructions on how to take care of my dental hygiene and answered all of my questions. The result of the treatment was simply amazing.

Fantastic experience: Today I had treatment using composite bonding with dentist Tu Anh Chau. I am so so pleased with the results and the care she gave me. I was really nervous as I didn’t want my teeth to look stupidly white. She listen to my request and I’m so happy with the results.

Fantastic experience: I never thought i'd be reviewing a dentist but having just changed from my last dentist practice Bupa Soho purely because of how unfriendly and unhappy I was with the treatment I was nervous about trying a new one again. What a great experience from the front desk to the dentists and nurses and everyone I encountered whilst I was here. So professional, welcoming and friendly couldn't fault it at all. Very glad I found this place and highly recommended to others looking for a new practice.

Negative experience: Two appointments cancelled either on the day or the day before. Once the excuse is there is a leak and the next appointment the excuse is the chair needs changing. B dental charge clients 50 pound for cancellation with 48 hours and I can give a business the benefit of the doubt once but not twice in a row. Zero apology or consideration for clients time.

The root canal specialist I saw, Shima Mahdavi was absolutely wonderful! She made everything clear and easy to understand. She was very patient, calm, and gentle; both she and the nurse Esther made me feel very comfortable. I would definitely recommend this practice!

Negative experience: I tried to have an appointment here but had to leave after I waited half an hour after the allocated slot. It was the rudeness of the manager that upset me, he had to communicated through the receptionist instead of talking to me directly and when I could hear the receptionist saying I would have to leave he just gave me a dirty look and walked away

Fantastic experience: Dr Mahdavi Izadi did my root canal. I've been waiting to see if I had any problems before I wrote my review here, I have had zero problems. The operation itself took two sessions, one to drill in and plant some stuff to kill the infection and the second to fill in the holes permanently. She was extremely capable and professional. She had an excellent relationship with her assistant (it took a large number of different implements and drill sizes and their communication was super professional). I had no pain in either procedure, neither during nor when the anaesthetic wore off. I have nothing bad to say about this professional experience. Ask for her if you are having a root canal, no question.

Negative experience: I was referred to b dental by another dental practice for a specific dental treatment.I had lenghly telephone consultations twice with the practice receptionist about the dental procedure I hoped to receive from the dentist. I was told to wait for a month to see this dentist as he only comes to the surgery once a month. When I attended I was told by the dentist that he can not offer me this treatment because I don't have a "treatment plan". I had to pay £114 .- to be told this.I left the practice feeling very distressed and inadequate.I still do not understand why he agreed to see me . As if it was my fault for being in need of such dental treatment. Regrettably, I was not aware of existence other dental practices which offer a consultation , Xray and a treatment plan for the same amount of cost.

Fantastic experience: Coming from a country with higher dental standards, after being to 3 other dentists in London I can confidently say this is a big step above others in terms of quality, professionalism, and actually helping me improve my dental health. Even though it's not as convenient of a location for me I'll definitely be coming here regularly.

Fantastic experience: The best dental clinic I have ever been. Reception team is very helpful and it was easy to book appointment. I have recently visited the practice for a check up and the dentist was really caring and explained me the issues with my gum. I have been referred to see a hygienist afterwards and again I was impressed with their hygienists skill and detailed explanation of their work. Amazing service.

Negative experience: If you care about your child do not take them to b dental. A routine check up showed my 8 year old needed a filling. The filling should have been carried out within a week or two but I was told the next available appointment was a month later. I reluctantly accepted and asked to be placed on a cancellation list. No cancellation materialised. A few days before the appointment my daughter developed an infection under the tooth requiring the filling, as it had been left untreated for too long. It required a stressy emergency appointment, immediate antibiotics and we were told that instead of a filling my daughter now needed to have her whole tooth removed. She's never even had a filling, now her first experience beyond routine check-ups is a daunting extraction. The next day, we were contacted and told that the dentist had "an emergency" and was no longer working on the day of our scheduled appointment that we'd waited a month for and they'd need to put back the appointment further. Rather than provide appropriate care and consideration, b dental have let my child's condition deteriorate so that she is now in constant pain and requires strong antibiotics and a much more invasive treatment that at age 8 is going to be difficult for her to deal with. No longer having trust in the practise, we were left trying to find an emergency appointment elsewhere. What should have been a routine filling needlessly escalated into a drama. In my opinion as someone who was a customer for several years, this is because b dental is an impersonal practise that is revenue generation focused rather than customer care focused. It lacks continuity between treatment plans and management of the diary and the oversight and plain common sense required in healthcare to prioritise appointments based on need (such as a time sensitive filling which can save your tooth over cosmetic work which can wait). This is b dental's major failing. If you value 'care' in a healthcare setting and your needs being recognised rather than just being treated like money on legs even after being a customer for years, I would highly recommend you completely avoid b dental. As a family we'll never use them again. 7/12/21 - Addition after B dental's response below: B Dental claims "we did reschedule your daughter’s appointment for the following day". That's a positive spin on the actual truth. Initially B dental offered my daughter an appointment several days later. It was only when I complained that my 8 year old daughter could not wait several more days, as we'd already been kept waiting a month and she had developed a painful and worrying infection for her, she'd been given emergency antibiotics and the dentist said her tooth needed to be extracted, that you later came back and offered an appointment the next day in the dentist's lunch break. It's a horrible feeling for a customer to have to point out the obvious and practically beg for customer care and consideration. But as I said above, we experienced a complete disconnect at B dental between the dentist and treatment plan and the front of house management. As I said in the review above, I had completely lost all confidence in the practise at this point, so when B dental offered the lunch break appointment, I rushed to secure an emergency appointment at another practise. Then cancelled B dental's lunch break appointment. Thankfully the dentist at the other practise we saw, gave an alternative diagnosis and treatment plan for my daughter. She did not have the tooth extracted, there were no issues and 5 months later that continues to be the case. I know which treatment was preferable for my 8 year old and i'm glad I found an alternative dentist run practise with a high level of healthcare, customer consideration and attention to detail, so we don't ever need to return to B Dental. 20/04/22 - Addition My daughter's tooth fell out naturally with no problems. No need for the traumatic extraction that B dental said was the only treatment option for my 8 year old.

Fantastic experience: I have been a visiting Bdental for over a year now and I have been impressed with the professionalism and the kindness of the staff there. They seem to genuinely care about their patients rather than just doing a job. A year ago, the magnificent Dr Amir Savage managed to stabilise my gum disease. To say it improved my quality of life is an understatement. I cannot thank him enough for that. My last visit was to the Dental Hygienist and Dental Nurse and they were just superb. Best cleaning I ever received. The hygienist seemed to have this knack of not hitting nerves which made the whole experience almost pleasant, not something one associates with dental treatments. A new instrument (a scraper?) was used which made you feel the plaque coming off your teeth. The Dental Nurse kept the mouth nice a clean throughout, a relief as I usually dribble all over the place during cleaning. Fantastic duo! Next stop : an implant. Looking forward to it. Fantastic experience: Absolutely fantastic invisalign treatment from start to finish. I cannot thank Dr Avan and the team at B dental enough. I was very sceptical before beginning invisalign treatment but it has worked wonders. I had crowded lower front teeth and seeing the change week by week has been amazing. I would not hesitate one bit when recommending Dr Avan - she is clean and efficient, listens to every concern I have and has made me so much more confident in my smile.
