I was seen by a dentist who was standing in for my usual dentist who is currently on maternity leave. I found the new dentist, Colin Conway, to be very friendly, thorough and professional. The same applies to my usual hygienist, Caroline Green.

Positive experience: I was very shocked to be charged £138 for a routine check up where nothing more than a clean was needed. I would have expected a £60 charge but more than double that will mean I will probably cancel routine six monthly check ups as I cannot afford the £138 fee - if it was correct.

Fantastic experience: I've been attending this dental practice since I was a young child, and won't go anywhere else. Friendly staff, any treatments needed fully explained, I'm a nervous patient and am always put at ease, and although not NHS the monthly insurance option is very affordable imho. I'm often told how nice my teeth look, and happily recommend this dental surgery.

Positive experience: Very personable dentist, which of counts for a lot. However... I overheard signs of consumables, needed for the work, not being in stock, and appeared to need to be fitted with an overlarge and painful moulding as a result. I was quoted a figure for some work, only to be billed circa 50% more. I was told by a Leo that it was a mistake. When I asked for the original price to be honoured, per the terms on the estimate, he ignored me. Presumably I should have ask for the work to be undone per their breach of their own terms.

Negative experience: I was looking for a new dentist for my daughter, so I got a recommendation from a colleague at work for this dentist. I booked an appointment with them and waited almost a month, 3 days before they called me confirming the appointment for a different time (12:40 instead of 14:30), I double check and still confirm to a different time (12:40), got SMS messages from them for that new time (12:40) Changed all my day at work to be able to be there, when arrive there they told me the appointment was at 14:30, even If show them their messages with the time there for 12:40, they didn't care and basically said it was not their fault, apparently I m the one to blame. Talked with the manager there, even worst, arrogant, rude and not even showing consideration or even try to sort some kind of apologise and find a suitable solution. Terrible experience and really awful customer service.

Fantastic experience: Great practice! Wayne is the best dentist I've had, he's knowledgeable, friendly, and doesn't dumb things down or sugar coat things which I really appreciate. I'm a nervous patient and he makes me feel welcome and like I'm in safe hands. I've been to some quite slap dash dentists in the past whose motivations I've found a bit questionable, but I'm confident that he would never do any work that he didn't think was necessary. The reception staff are friendly, the practice is clean, the Covid measures are suitable and there are amble car parking spaces! I used to come to Alexandra Greystone when I was student back in 2016, and since returning to Reading for work I reregistered at the practice as I knew it would be good! Would definitely recommend.

However, this time I may have to turn to the NHS for removal of a bridge and replacing with a lower front denture, only in view of the huge costs involved. As pensioners on a fixed income, I cannot justify spending over £1000 on myself.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I have been patients of Mr Loubser since he started at Greystones (10-15 years?) He has always been meticulous and gentle and strived to preserve our teeth for al long as possible. (I am over 80) He is always prepared to discuss alternatives and has never tried to push us into making snap decisions. We would never dream of voluntarily changing our dentist. Yesterday, I had 3 teeth extracted and he did it so carefully that I had no need of painkillers afterwards.
