Fantastic experience: It had been a while since I’d visited the dentist, but from my very first appointment, Tony Barton made me feel completely at ease. He took the time to explain the issues he found and walked me through the best course of treatment in a way that was clear and reassuring. Throughout my treatment plan, he talked me through every step and always checked that I was comfortable. The level of care and professionalism, from the team, has been outstanding. I can’t recommend this practice highly enough.

Fantastic experience: Don’t normally write reviews about going to the dentist but today’s experience deserved it. Victoria and Emma worked really well together, friendly and chatty and making the whole hygienist experience a lot nicer. Shame it was Victorias last day at the practice but good luck in your next role.

Fantastic experience: First visit today. Very impressed with the knowledge of Dr Smith. Software that is used is very impressive. Had a thorough check up and X-rays. Managed to see the Hygienist and she was very polite and professional. All staff, inclusive of the front of house staff were extremely polite and helpful. I will be going again and the experience today has made the dentist more enjoyable in comparison to other dentists I have been to in recent years.

Fantastic experience: I recently had checkup with Tony & hygiene appointment with Brandy. Tony explains all his findings & concerns & answers any questions with patience & kindness. Brandy is very enthusiastic, has a lovely cheerful disposition & makes the process very pleasant. Tracy on reception greets with a smile, & puts you at ease with a friendly chat. This is a very homely practice set in a beautiful old building, is conveniently situated, with onsite parking. I highly recommend.

I was worried about an extraction and Jessie reassured me Tony (dentist) was very good. She was right, Tony has been great, spending time explaining each process and what to expect and he’s completed a number of treatments. Fantastic experience: I recently switched to Bupa Congleton after moving to the area and I can’t recommend them enough. Tracy on Reception has been super helpful with my insurance and my treatment from Harriet has been fantastic however, of the c.15 dental professionals I have seen in my life, non come close to matching the experience and standard of care provided by Victoria in my hygiene appointment. Knowledgeable, welcoming and reassuring; Victoria is a credit to the practice and you should be proud to have her in your team.

Negative experience: after 19yrs ive decided to move to another dentist, I complained earlier in the year that the new Hygienist only did a scale and never did the Polish it was only when I got home i realised so immediately rang up as the had charged me the full amount and the receptionist was uninterested but said she would pass it on, never received a call back, says it all

Positive experience: It’s BUPA owned so there’s no shortage of posters and leaflets offering cosmetic treatments, But they do the basics well and have good and skilled staff who engage well with their patients and offer clear information, options and advice that never appears commercially driven. I can’t compare to other options in town, but this is a good choice.

I’ve had some quite intricate dental work done by Anthony Barton and I’m super pleased with the results. My teeth are the best they have ever been, both cosmetically and comfort wise. I also see Brandy for my dental hygienist appointments and she is the only hygienist I’ve ever seen who can complete a scale and polish without me wincing!! The whole team including the practice manager, reception staff and dental nurses are great. I would highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I love the bupa dentist group in congleton. All the staff there are lovely. As soon as you walk in the door the girls are there to greet you with a warm welcome. I started only going 3 years ago for implants but kept on my NHS dentist for the normal work but I now only use the Bupa dentist as they offer an interest free payment plan and the care you get there is of such a high standard it seemed silly not to .also I never forget an appointment as I get a regular reminder by text and call .Just brilliant and worth every penny

Negative experience: I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at this dental practice and feel compelled to share my concerns. On Wednesday, March 26, I called to schedule an emergency appointment due to a mild pain in one of my molars.I was scheduled for the next day, Thursday, March 27, where Dr. Barton confirmed that my root canal had an infection.However, rather than offering any immediate treatment or relief, I was informed that the earliest appointment for further care would be on April 29—over a month away. This was incredibly frustrating, as I was in severe discomfort and needed urgent attention to fix the infection. Fortunately, I was seen the following day, Friday, March 28, after a cancellation by other patient. By this time, I had been enduring pain for the previous day and next morning and had been relying on over-the-counter pain medications to cope. Dr. Anthony Barton conducted a minimal procedure, opening the tooth, cleaning it, and applying a temporary seal, with plans to address the root canal at a later date. That evening, however, the pain returned with intensity. I spent hours trying to find an emergency dentist without any luck. I was left with no choice but to wait until the following morning. By the time I was able to find one, was already 9am and spent all evening and morning in agony with pain. The lack of urgency, humanity , and inadequate care at this practice were deeply disappointing. A root canal infection is a serious matter, and being left in such discomfort without timely treatment is unacceptable .I would not recommend this practice to anyone

Fantastic experience: I visited the Bupa Dental Care in Congleton yesterday. I have never had good experiences with dentists and if there was any other option, I would have taken it. However, as soon as I got in I felt at ease with a very warm, empathetic welcome. My appointment was with Dr Anthony Barton. The professionalism and care shown immediately was incredible. I've never known a level of service like this before and the care taken with me was exceptional. Dr Barton is incredible and helped me through the whole appointment. I came away sorted out and pain free, I also came away with a new feeling towards Dentists. I cannot thank all involved enough for the care they showed me yesterday. Excellent

Negative experience: Terrible experience as new private patients! I rang up to register and book appointments for my family - both receptionists were unhelpful and not particularly pleasant on first experience. I thought it odd that they insisted on a deposit but never received a link via text to pay as they stated I would do, they then followed up with a phone call the next day to say I hadn’t paid the deposit via the link sent via text, and they’d have to cancel our appointments if it wasn’t paid today. I never received a link via text, and told them this but their tone suggested I was trying to avoid paying! They then said we’ll resend the link but it must be paid today. At this point I requested to cancel any appointments made and will be going to another local dentist instead, the whole experience was poor and isn’t what you’d expect - I’d go elsewhere!

Fantastic experience: You pay up - but the service is not exceptional - the hygienist Brandy is just incredible, friendly and knowledgeable it’s a joy to have her fettling around with especially as I have anxiety with hygienists after my old one cracked a veneer days after it was done and didn’t say she had.

Negative experience: Had a terrible experience and faced discrimination based on my disability. I would recommend going anywhere else. My new dentist quoted me 30% less for the same treatment. Maybe they are just overpriced, but I suspect they tried to take advantage of my disability on top of the appalling treatment / bedside manner.

Fantastic experience: Just want to express how amazing Brandy, the team and this practice is. I have been with another private practice in Congleton for about 6 months and was told I needed very deep and extensive cleaning having lost my dentist during covid and not getting another… my fault!. After signing up with my previous practice they struggled to fit me in for hygienist appointments quickly and I also couldn’t see them for Invisalign which was something I wanted in the future. I decided to book a consultation with BUPA in Congleton less than a week ago for Invisalign and WOW have they been so accommodating. I first saw Anthony and within days (thanks to the wonderful Tracy) they had me seen by Brandy for an hour hygienist appointment, she was absolutely AMAZING. So knowledgeable, caring and a true educator about dental hygiene, special mention to Emma also. I usually hate going to the dentist but this was such a good experience. Brandy and team you are amazing, thank you so so much!

Fantastic experience: I haven’t been to a dentist for 13 years and now I WANT to come back. I’ve recently been diagnosed with AUDHD and learned about the sensory issues I find problematic with dentists, and after hardly taking care of my teeth through years of depression I was reaching a point where not doing anything about it was making me feel worse. I get BUPA health insurance through work so thought to find the nearest BUPA dentist and get in touch. I emailed them first explaining my neurodivergence and concerns and got a really lovely email back from Alison, who offered to help me with the new patient process. She was lovely and really helped answer any questions I had. She recommended that I be seen by Harriet, who was great with nervous patients. I got an appointment for a few weeks later. I was seen by Harriet yesterday and she was amazing! She really understood how I was feeling and empathised with my concerns, helped me feel really at ease and explained everything she was doing before she did so. She came up with a plan and reassured me that everything wasn’t as bad as I thought! Part of the plan was to see their hygienist, Brandy, but appointments were looking like the closest was going to be September. I got a phone call a few hours later asking me to come in the next day as there had been a cancellation! So I went back today and Brandy was incredible. Never before have I been cared for by such a kind and considerate person at a dental practice (aside from Harriet!). She was patient and talked me through everything step by step, working with me to see where my boundaries were and if I was ever uncomfortable. I’m excited to go back for my next appointment! If you’re a nervous patient or neurodivergent in any way, please consider coming to this practice. They really care about their patients and just want what’s best for them!

Fantastic experience: I was referred initially to this Dentist and it was only meant to be a temporary thing. However, after discovering Brandy whom works here as a hygienist, it’s worth the drive!! I will never go anywhere else. Brandy’s knowledge and skill set is of the highest quality. I never thought it was possible to come out of the dentist not only with the cleanest teeth I’ve ever had but also buzzing!! This is all down to Brandy’s enthusiasm and passion, that it passes onto you and by following all her tips and guidance, your smile will never look better. As a whole I would definitely recommend this practice as I’ve also had a really good experience, the receptionists are also really friendly and make the whole experience a pleasant one, which I know many don’t always feel when going to the dentist.

Negative experience: Apparently I missed a appointment that I cancelled then want to charge me £25 pounds but it’s ok for them to say when you turn up sorry the dentist has Covid you will have to rearrange, paul management, poor receptionist

Negative experience: My family and I recently decided to switch to Bupa Dentist Congleton due to the scarcity of available NHS dentists. keen to receive quality care,we paid the signup fee for an examination and dental plan, only to be met with a disheartening experience that has left us deeply dissatisfied. Upon booking my first appointment to address some fillings outlined in our dental plan, we were required to pay a deposit of £150, leaving a balance of just over £350. However, our initial shock came when, during the middle of the filling procedure, the dentist claimed that additional, unforeseen work was necessary. Post-procedure, I was astonished to be informed that the remaining balance had escalated to £660, Nearly double the originally quoted amount. Feeling blindsided and taken advantage of, I paid the inflated fee and left the clinic with a sense of distrust. Upon leaving and calling to question the inflated bill I was informed that I had indeed been overcharged. The dentist assured me that they would refund one filling as it was supposed to be free of charge. However, when I requested that this correction be clearly documented on the invoice, I was told that free work cannot be listed. This lack of transparency only added to my growing dissatisfaction with their services. Furthermore, when questioning the dental plan's costs, I was told that it is merely a guide and that additional work is often necessary. This revelation left me feeling misled, as the initial plan seemed to be a clear outline of the services to be provided. It appears that the dental plan serves more as a deceptive sales tactic rather than an accurate representation of the costs involved. In conclusion, my experience with Bupa Dentist Congleton has been disappointing and marked by a sense of deception. My advice to anyone considering their services is to approach their quotes with extreme caution. It seems that whatever they initially quote is merely a starting point, and the final bill may be substantially higher. I have decided to seek the services of a private independent dentist moving forward, as I believe Bupa Dentist Congleton preys on individuals, using them as nothing more than cash cows. Save yourself the frustration and financial strain, and look elsewhere for honest and reliable dental care. Update: Thank you for your response. I stand by my feedback and find it disheartening that you are surprised by my comments. Regarding your inability to locate my treatment record, I find it hard to believe, especially if refund transactions are a routine occurrence for your company. I suggest checking the records dated 31/10/2023 for verification. Additionally, I am confident that the practice manager would recall our conversation held in her office. I have no intention of reaching out to a random email address, as suggested. My aim in sharing my experience is to provide genuine insight for others who may encounter a similar situation.

Fantastic experience: I’ve recently had 4 new veneers replaced along with teeth whitening at Bupa Dental Practice in Congleton. I am very impressed with the results and I would definitely recommend the practice for any dental work. Dr Barton’s attention to detail at making sure my veneers were perfect, was second to none. I felt slightly nervous at the start of each appointment but Dr Barton explained what each procedure entailed and this immediately put me at ease. All the staff are very professional. I will definitely return for any future cosmetic dental work :)

Fantastic experience: I decided to get braces to straighten my teeth as I’ve always been self conscious about how they looked and now that I’m in my forties I felt it was time to do something about it. I arranged an appointment at Bupa dental care with Hilpa Amin. From the first appointment I felt at ease, we discussed all the possible options and Hilpa was very supportive and understood exactly what I wanted. I had the fixed braces on for a year and am so pleased with the results. I feel so much better about talking and smiling. I can 100% recommend Hilpa to anyone thinking of getting their teeth straightened. She’s so friendly and sympathetic, an amazing orthodontist

Fantastic experience: Excellent dental practice. Little things make a difference, for example there's always an assistant in attendance to do suction and pass instruments, even for the hygienist, something which is not universal (at least one other practice has required me to hold the suction tube myself). Prices are not excessive, and they don't try to push whitening treatments or similar nonsense. Seems superior to a certain, more expensive, glitzy-looking practice in Knutsford which shall remain nameless. All the team members are good, but I can particularly endorse Harriet Brocklehurst-Flynn. Harriet likes to push the boundaries of what is possible, and was recently able to save a tooth that I was beginning to think of as a lost cause. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I’m a new patient. Had root canal treatment yesterday. I have had ongoing issues with this tooth many years ago, but Tony and the staff at the practice could not of done more for me. They was fantastic! Because of the tooth and its history I’ve got a fear of the dentist. But I’m pleased to say Tony has restored my confidence back in the dentist. The whole team there are professional and lovely. So glad I moved to here.

Fantastic experience: I have just gone through a protracted period of treatment on two teeth which had become infected. I played rugby until I was nearly 50, have skied for many years, picking up lots of injuries along the way, not to mention two new hips. But all this paled into insignificance compared to my recent toothache. To the rescue came Harriet Brocklehurst-Flynn, who treated these teeth with great expertise, patience, sympathy and a calmness that was always reassuring. Harriet has been my dentist for a few years and from the beginning I was most impressed with the way she tackled challenges. Nothing seemed to phase her and she never put things off for the next appointment. She just got on with the task at hand and always did a terrific job. It has almost become a pleasure to visit the dentist!! I don’t know whether Bupa recognises a ‘Dentist of the Year’ but Harriet would certainly get my vote. She is a real asset to the practice. Excellent practices, however, are not just about one or two dentists, they are about first rate patient care, and that is what I have always experienced at Bupa Dental Care Congleton. Everyone in the practice team from the dental nurses to the reception staff to the management team is so friendly and knowledgeable. For instance they have been so accommodating in finding immediate appointments during my recent problems. I cannot praise them enough, and would like to thank everyone for their kindness and support.

Fantastic experience: Antony Barton is the best dentist I have ever had treatment from. From past failings with other dentists I am an extremely nervous patient to the degree Ive needed sedation for all of my complex work, on this occasion however I had to resort to an emergency fix without sedation. I was petrified beforehand but Antonys understanding and profesional approach reassured me. He made absolutely sure I was numb beforehand and throughout and was excellent at continuing to check that I was still fine throughout. I cant thankyou enough Sir. Also a special mention for Jessie and Alison on Reception too. As a new patient they were inviting and so pleasant. Ive got to say that as they are the first people you see as you enter the practice they had a calming and reassuring effect before I had even reached the dentist chair. Fantastic experience: Recently had an appointment with Harriet for my 13 year old daughters first extraction, the level of care given was second to none. Myself and my daughter were put at ease straight away with how friendly and knowledgeable the staff are. My daughters experience was very positive and she has no hesitation in any future treatment that maybe needed, because of the trust she now has in the very friendly, professional staff.
