3 weeks ago Fantastic experience: Just been for an extraction and filling - completly my own fault. Bo Yao Yao and the Nurse dealt with the issue fantastically and more importantly it was a painless experience. 15 years since seeing a dentist before this (too cowardly!), and now got my check up already booked in for next year. And on the NHS too! Highly recommended - get in if you can. Reception staff are fabulous too.

1 month ago Fantastic experience: I've just had a tooth removed (along with a deep clean) today at the Victoria Place branch of My Dentist in Carlisle. Before he started, the dentist explained everything about the procedure, putting me at ease before the tooth was painlessly removed & the deep cleaning carried out. I would definitely recommend this dentist's surgery for their friendliness, professionalism & courtesy..

2 months ago Fantastic experience: Been a patient here approximately 10 years, I was an NHS patient for the majority then about a year ago my dentist became private which is very expensive. But now the practice has enrolled more dental surgeons so they are able to offer NHS to patients on a waiting on a list. The biggest issue are the stairs and the toilet which is situated on the first floor. No good for disabled, access into the building involves steps at the front and only one dentists room is access inside. But the practice is moving to the lower ground floor of the House of Fraser.

6 months ago Negative experience: Really disappointed with how this was handled. My last NHS appointment was cancelled by the practice during COVID and I was told they'd be in contact to rebook, which never happened. I wasn't informed I’d then been removed as a patient. I've thankfully not needed treatment since but when I called because of a broken filling I'm told I’m no longer registered as it’s been over two years since my last visit. I was in a lot of pain and pretty anxious, the receptionist was abrupt and not at all understanding - scoffing at me for thinking that I'd still be a patient. I was told the only option was to book privately, or ring for an emergency. I get that practices are under pressure, but being removed without any notice and then pushed towards private treatment when calling for urgent help felt humiliating because I simply can't afford it. A bit more clarity and basic empathy would have gone a long way. ------------------ Update: The response from MyDentist quotes NHS policy but fails to address the lack of communication about my removal as a patient or the dismissive and unprofessional way I was spoken to when calling in pain. This response does not reflect or acknowledge the actual experience described above.
I am sorry to hear that you have experienced problems accessing NHS dental care at your practice. Unfortunately, the practice is currently not able to accommodate every new and previous patient who has contacted them requiring care. If you fail to attend a dental check-up for two years or more, you could be removed from the NHS dentist list. This means you will no longer have automatic access to NHS dental services. Visiting your dentist every two years helps ensure that you remain on their patient list and can continue to receive NHS dental care. The NHS.uk website may be helpful in assisting you seek an alternative NHS practice within your area, that may have the capacity to take on new patients and offer you NHS dental care.

1 year ago Fantastic experience: As a VERY nervous patient I have found all the staff to be absolutely lovely. The reception staff are fab and incredibly efficient. My dentist is BR who has been so patient and understanding with me. He takes the time to explain procedures and offer his excellent advice and procedures. He endured I experienced no discomfort in my last procedure and really put me at ease. I would highly recommend.

2 years ago Negative experience: I have to say Absolutely the biggest rip off I have ever been through. This dentist is purely about money and have no care for patients, the receptionist is rude abrupt and uncouth. I can honestly say this is the worst dentist around. It should be made public how they try to fleece you before you even get there disqusting. Ask for antibiotics for a painful abscess and they want £100 just to have an appointment then pay for check up then pay for antibiotics these people are vile and should not be aloud to practice.
Dear Daniel, I am sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the private service provided by a Clinician at our practice. The practice does have notices across the reception and waiting areas to state that appointments are to be paid upfront prior to any treatment. The policy was introduced as it was becoming very evident across the business, that patients who were booking and then cancelling appointments with no notice, or just not turning up for their appointments, were having a negative effect on the practices, both in terms of the unfilled time that goes to waste and the financial impact these missed appointments have on our business. Dental appointments for examinations/emergencies, both NHS and Private are chargeable as are prescriptions. I am sorry to hear that you are unhappy with this. Kind regards Leanne Patient Support
2 years ago Fantastic experience: I had a front winged tooth that had fallen out due to a fault of my own. Matthew managed to fit me in within a couple of hours on a Saturday and re cement my front tooth back into place. I would honestly just like to say thank you very much and for saving my weekend due to attending a wedding today. Would definitely recommend and did it for a good price

2 years ago Negative experience: Constantly cancelled appointments. ALWAYS THE SAME PATHETIC EXCUSES.
We understand people’s frustrations who want routine NHS check-ups however we have limited availability due to NHS dentist vacancies. We have been working closely with the dentists at our practice and have been prioritising NHS patients who are in pain and in need of urgent treatment. Due to this our diaries are fully booked during our NHS hours, so we are unable to offer routine treatments such as examinations at this time.
We are hoping this may change but until we work through the back log, we cannot confirm a time frame. Please be assured that our clinicians are working incredibly hard to try and accommodate as many patients as possible.

3 years ago Negative experience: I went whilst visiting the area for a temporary filling until I could get home and arrange an appointment with my usual dentist. Unfortunately after only 36 hours - mid travelling - the filling broke apart, and what can only be described as a chewing gum like substance came out of my tooth. I realise is was temporary, but I expected it to last at least a week until i could fix the issue for real. Despite making the appointment for a filling, it felt rushed and I was seen in 20 minutes. The work on the temp filling seemed poor in comparison to those i've had in the past. Not impressed.

Temporary fillings are used to protect your tooth until it can be repaired permanently, unfortunately there is no guarantee as to how long these will last and it is possible for them to break or fall out unexpectedly. A clinician can diagnose and perform a temporary filling in a 20-30 minute appointment as you have mentioned.

3 years ago Negative experience: Very poor experience with this dentist, after charging for initial consult after transferring from sister practice in may (at their request) I have had 4 appointments cancelled with less than 16hrs notice, twice whilst stood in the dentist. 6 years ago Fantastic experience: I had problems at first not seeing the same person more than once. But recently all that has changed and have to say Michael really puts me at ease. I’ve had a real fear of dentists since I was a small child due to bad experiences but even though I’m nervous going I don’t have the meltdowns I used to. 6 years ago Negative experience: Pretty poor all round. Always running late, never see the same dentist twice and, on more than one occasion, we have been given the wrong appointment time. We've also had appointments cancelled at the last minute.

9 years ago Fantastic experience: To Maxine Curran, was shocked today when I visited the practice and mamta no longer works there anymore, her and terry her nurse assistant were really good at there job hope Terry still works there. 11 years ago Fantastic experience: for years i had bad experiences with dentists, but with Mamta Bhagwath and her nurse, the experience was a good one. She put me at ease the moment i walked into her surgery and i cannot recommend her and her nurse highly enough.
