Fantastic experience: I stumbled upon Mr Charlesworth's reviews whilst sharing the Practice details with a friend. As a previous patient of Mr Charlesworth's I am first to recommend him to anyone seeking exceptional quality dental care. I was referred to Mr Charlesworth due to a failed NHS root canal resulting in possible extraction. I found his manner to be professional and reassuring during a difficult time and his rapport with his colleagues to be warm. There was no pressure to follow his recommendations but the procedure was explained thoroughly enough that I was happy to proceed. I believe his fees to be reasonable, in fact, I say to anyone who asks I would have happily paid double for the experience (and there’s not many who say that after a trip to the Dentist!) I have since recommended several friends who would be considered ‘nervous patients’ elsewhere and they have all been satisfied with the care and attention given by Mr Charlesworth.

Fantastic experience: Ian is the best dentist you will ever find. I initially visited Ian for a root canal treatment after doing extensive research. I visited several practices for opinions, but a couple didn’t want to take it on, and others didn’t inspire confidence. I came across Ian online and was impressed by his strong credentials. Even though I live in Preston, distance and cost weren’t issues—I just wanted the work done right. From my first appointment, I knew Ian was the right choice. He’s incredibly professional, honest, and personable, putting me at ease throughout the entire process. The root canal he performed has stood the test of time. Years later, during a consultation with a new dentist (after I moved away), I was told it’s one of the best root canals they’ve ever seen. Their exact words were, “It’s been carried out with very high skill.” I already knew Ian’s work was exceptional, but this confirmed it. If you’re looking for a specialist in root canals, Ian is truly the best. I only wish he could still be my dentist! If you have the opportunity to have Ian as yours, consider yourself very lucky.

Fantastic experience: Had root canal treatment performed which obviously very anxious about , however found this treatment was performed very skilfully , by Mr. Charlesworth and Charlotte (dental nurse, a great team). The administration of the local anaesthetic in itself was pain free , was very impressed with the teamwork and felt totally at my ease . I was reassured and received individualised care with very good explanation of the procedure involved . Fantastic experience: Mr Charlesworth gave me a free consultation to see if I needed root canal work. I feel this was a very good service, particularly because he isn't able to carry out the procedure, as my tooth is too far gone. He has a really lovely, relaxed manner and seemed genuinely interested in my situation. I highly recommend this dentist.

Negative experience: I came to see Ian Charlesworth today. When l called to make appointment did ask to reception if he was endodontist specialist with canal root treatment as l stated need specific canal root treatment. Reception confirmed he wasn't but was very experienced with endodontic treatment. anyways l went in today to see him first thing he said to me was it me asked if he was specialist and l said yeah!! but it does not matter as long as he can do the job. And l had to ask that becos l need specific root canal treatment. He did look at my xray very quickly and said can't do job appereantly l have too much infection possible crack teeth.and job is too big & complicated for him considering he is very experienced lol . l felt been rushed to send off as Mr Charlesworth must took it funny when l asked to reception if he was endodontic specialist. Certainly you have to ask questions before you do anything nowadays don't you? . I didn't think his manners was professional at all considering its face to face customer service . he was very rude as he was saying some stuff when l was there and heard him saying "opinions" word to his assistant . Wouldn't go back neither recommend him. just to remind anyone who's going to see this guy! what you ask in advance to reception you will get questioned as soon as you walk into appointment with Mr Ian Charlesworth Good luck

Fantastic experience: I'm always a bit nervous with dentists. I've had two sessions for root canal work in a difficult position. All I can say is that Ian and his team have given me the best dental experience you could hope for. I would highly recommend them to anyone. I have no connection with the surgery or anyone connected with it other than being a very happy customer!

Fantastic experience: Top Drawer Endodontic Specialist. A previous reviewer gave one star and seemed to believe that Ian was not an Endodontic Specialist - well that's odd because that's pretty much all he does! I know this as I have (sadly - no offence Ian!) been referred 3 times now and Ian is without doubt a specialist in Endodontic treatments. Above and beyond this he has a great ability to put you at ease and keep you calm during the treatment, which given that most people feel serious trepidation (fear even) getting root canal work done (I am amongst the majority btw) is a very good thing!

Fantastic experience: I read with great interest the review by Ms LK and am compelled as a patient to write a review in support of Mr Ian Charlesworth. 30 months ago, December 2018 I was diagnosed with an aggressive diffuse large B cell lymphoma. I had already had two courses of chemotherapy early in 2019, and was about to under go the next round in March 2019. The day before this, I developed a toothache that refused to go away; it kept me awake at night and my tooth was very tender to bite on. I rang Mr Charlesworth with an SOS, asking for help the day before Chemo 3! Bless this man! He tagged me on to his busy day list and worked over at the end of the day to relieve me of my pain, and what’s more, to help reduce my risk of overwhelming infection that was very likely, due to me being so highly immuno-compromised. He opened my tooth, and took delight in informing me that there was pus visibly draining from the palatal canal of my upper molar. This was a sign that I would have relief, and indeed I did! Before chemo 4, I returned for a further appointment to have the root treatment completed, and to this day, I remain symptom free. I wish to publicly acknowledge this caring and compassionate human being! It seems that Ms LK has badly mis-represented the professional standing of Mr Charlesworth and his best intentions to serve her endodontic needs. She has distorted the facts of her experience and is unjustly falsifying his undoubted qualities of skill, compassion and care! I have posted these comments as a grateful patient however, I am a dentist, and one who has been on the GDC specialist list for Endodontics for 20 years. I know all the specialist endodontists in the North West, and many more beyond. I pose a simple question to the earlier correspondent – Why, when I was so ill, did I trust Mr Charlesworth to help relieve me of my sleep disturbing toothache?

Fantastic experience: Came to see Ian for a root treatment on a lower molar. He was great at calming my nerves and kept me informed through each step of the process, explaining everything clearly to me - highly recommend.

Negative experience: I came in for a consultation and spoke with Ian Charlesworth about root canal treatment. I mentioned that I had been advised to see a specialist several times during the consultation, but Ian never informed me that he was not a specialist until after I had the first stage of the treatment. I came in for a root canal treatment that didn't work out well. Mr Ian struggled to find the canal during the treatment and told me that I'd have to accept the fact that my tooth isn't great and he would try again in the next appointment. However I felt uncomfortable doing the rest of the treatment because Ian said I wouldn't get a refund because they don't charge based on the outcome of the treatment, but rather on the time they spent. I've wasted a lot of money on the first stage, which turned out to be unsuccessful. I would not have gone ahead with the treatment if I had known he wasn't a specialist. Despite the fact that I mentioned during the consultation that I was advised to see a specialist, which is why I am HERE, Ian never corrected me or told me during the consultation that he was not a specialist.
