We also have site in Cranleigh joins our existing group with practices also in Farnham and Godalming. We have been providing orthodontic treatment for patients in Surrey for over 30 years and our experienced team can offer you the very latest treatment available for both children and adults within excellent facilities. We welcome any enquiries and personal visits and the team look forward to helping Farnham smile!

4 months ago Negative experience: PLEASE TAKE CARE AND GET A SECOND OPINION - HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS The sales tactics of this practice go against recommendations for good practice in the industry, please ask to be referred elsewhere by your NHS dentist. We were referred to West Street by our NHS dentist as our daughter had an overbite. We were expected to be treated under the NHS as advised by our dentist. At one of her 6 monthly reviews we walked in thinking we might discuss options and be given information about the braces being fitted as the final baby tooth was out. We had a VERY quick discussion with the orthodontist about options, although the notes state this was an in-depth discussion. Taken from clinical notes: Treatment to be finalised at the treatment planning appointment and may differ from the above.Pt/mum informed about pathways to Rx, they request a quote to help. We believed and were told that we would get another opportunity to discuss the options. We never got a treatment planning appointment or a written quote! We were instead told that the patient co-ordinator could see us there then, although we understood that x-rays and scans were needed to make a final decision, and we had also asked for a quote for the different options. We were taken into a windowless office to meet with the patient co-ordinator. The NHS route was described in a such a way that it made my daughter sit there and quietly cry, she was 12 and usually a very confident child who has no fear of the dentist etc. She would have to have teeth removed and sleep with a device in her mouth to ‘fix’ her jaw. When we asked why this was necessary the member of staff could not answer our questions but just said that is what she’d been advised. My daughter's clinical notes repeatedly say, no overcrowding. But then the conversations switched to if we paid privately none of that was necessary because they could use a different type of brace – this was really portrayed as the only option. When you have a distressed 12 year old who has just been scared by what she has been presented with, as a parent it is difficult to make well thought through decisions. But never fear, they could save her from awful NHS treatment and if we signed up there and then we would get 10% discount. If we wanted to ask any other questions, get a second opinion, think about it etc, we would not get the discount. This was 4.30pm, the discount was only valid until close of the day. When the treatment you are told is what is necessary costs almost £5000, 10% discount is quite a lot! I did query the price as my nieces paid a lot less but was told ours was quite a complex case. So, I agreed, knowing that it felt wrong but also feeling very under pressure - not least because all the discussion of money etc was done in front of my child. Sorry child, unless your mum pays, we will have to take your teeth out and make you sleep with a large device in your mouth. In less than an hour we had gone from walking in under NHS care for a review, to having agreed a contract for private work worth nearly £5000. They also booked in the next appointments; treatment would start in 5 days, so no chance for the 14-day cooling off period. Where was the planning appointment, where was the written quote we asked for? Why was the price only valid for an hour? Why do they discourage you getting a second opinion or taking time to talk to your child in private? We were not given time to consider options, process the possibility of having teeth extracted, talk to our daughter privately, talk to my husband, we were pressured into signing up for private treatment. If we left without signing up and paying the deposit it would cost us almost £500 more if/when we came back. I have raised my concerns with the practice and followed their complaints procedure. I was informed that I would get a response within 10 working days. That was a month ago. I have now escalated my concerns to the Dental Complaints Service and the General Dental Council.

6 months ago Negative experience: I’m writing on behalf of my 15-year-old brother, who attended an appointment here after being referred by his dentist. Unfortunately, his experience was very upsetting. The orthodontist told him that there were no issues without reviewing his X-ray, which had not yet been received. When my brother tried to explain the problem he has been having, he was told to stop interrupting. He was then told that if he wanted treatment, he should come back as a private patient. Given that he is only 15 years old and was attending on a referral, we expected a more patient, respectful and thorough assessment. The manner in which he was spoken to made him feel uncomfortable and dismissed. Based on how quickly he was told there was no problem, and then immediately advised to return privately if he wanted treatment, it left us with the impression that the focus was on private payment rather than properly assessing his referral and concerns. This was a very disappointing experience and I would’ve given 0 stars if I had the option.

My son was actually receiving orthodontic care from someone else and then we moved area so came to West St. The previous orthodontist would always leave wires too long causing my son pain and the wires would break. We didn't get any of that from West St, it was such a relief and was a much nicer experience.

9 months ago Fantastic experience: West Street Orthodontist have been brilliant for my daughter. She was fast tracked as an emergency case for braces because of an awkward tooth. The orthodontist said that he may need to remove teeth but would see if he could fix it with braces alone and 18 months later she has a perfectly aligned set of teeth - no extraction needed! It was such a relief and so much faster than we thought. The care she received throughout the 18 months was fantastic and we couldn’t be happier.
