Fantastic experience: My whole experience with Total Orthodontics has been extremely positive. From the outset, all the staff made me feel very comfortable and at ease with the process, and at every step I felt I was in very good hands. Everything was explained clearly, and I was shown exactly how the orthodontic treatment would work. This was really important to me, as having a major realignment done to my teeth was something I had been putting off for years. The Invisalign technology itself is brilliant, but what really impressed me was the way Richard and his team worked with it, their attention to detail and the care they took to support me in achieving the exact result I wanted, I really couldn’t have asked for more. I’m so pleased with the outcome, and although it may sound like a cliché, I genuinely do feel more confident smiling now that my front teeth have been straightened. I did a lot of research into the options available and I’m very glad I chose Invisalign, and particularly Total Orthodontics. The follow-up care has also been excellent, with regular check-ups in the months following completion of the treatment. The interest-free finance plan made the whole process possible and straightforward. If you’re considering any kind of orthodontic work, I would highly recommend having an initial conversation with Richard and his team they’ll clearly explain what’s possible and exactly what the process will involve for you.

Both daughters now have perfectly aligned teeth thanks to their very methodical & professional service. We moved to Total after becoming exasperated with slow & ineffective NHS treatment at a near by practice. Total have very straightforward pricing and the treatment has been exactly as per the plan. They went above and beyond with one daughter, being very compassionate about her anxiety over her gaps & braces and adjusting the treatment plan to help her. The aftercare has also been exemplary and they are always very accommodating when making or changing appointments. I’m so glad we went with Total Orthodontics. Thank you!!

Both times I have had the pleasure of having Jennifer Parmar as my dentist. Jen is outstanding at her job and she has always made me feel comfortable and at ease. Ever since I was a child, I have wonderful memories of my appointments and I am so grateful I was able to come back and receive treatment from Jen again. Fantastic experience: I recently took all three of my children to Dr. Richard for orthodontic treatment and I couldn't be happier with the results. Each of my children had different orthodontic needs and Dr. Richard and the team were able to create personalized treatment plans for each of them. The staff at the reception (especially Lorraine) were always friendly and accommodating, making it a positive experience for my kids. Dr Richard was patient and understanding with each of my children, explaining the treatment process in a way that they could understand. After completing their treatment, I am amazed at the transformation in their smiles. Their teeth look straight and healthy, and they are all so much more confident now. Fantastic experience: Honestly fantastic - I had braces once before many years ago and was wrongly advised to not remove teeth which ended up in over crowding at the front and receding gums. I spoke to a periodontist who advised for me to speak to an orthodonist first before I had any surgeries. I scouted out a couple different orthodontists in Brighton and was actually late to my consultation but the team were more than accommodating and still made time for me. Richard (my orthodontist) is very knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable right out the gate. He was very confident he could help my case which put me to ease as the other place I visited did not give me the same experience. I decided to go ahead with Richard at Total Orthodontics and I’m so incredibly pleased I have. Every appointment has been fab and in even less time than originally quoted, I got my braces off and my teeth have never looked better. My gums have improved considerably as well. I’m super happy with my experience and feel the service provided is really of high level. Would definitely recommend.

Negative experience: I've been a patient at Total Orthodontics for 14 years. My most recent visit involved an encounter with a rude orthodontist who continually talked over and down to me. He kept insisting that my permanent wire retainers breaking as regularly as it does (ranging from six months to most recently two weeks) was normal and that I just had to bear the cost, £150 each visit. The orthodontist didn't provide a solution, other than suggesting cutting off half of the retainer that kept breaking. Now, I'm worried that my teeth will shift. Overall, I've spent more money than I wanted to and have been talked down to. Additionally, my teeth have shifted because of the broken permanent retainers. He claimed he couldn't verify this as he no longer had the photos. The only solution proposed was Invisalign, priced over £3k. Despite the problem originating from their end and my significant previous expenditure, no discount was offered. I wish that this practice was more solution orientated and would work with me to get my smile back to where it was when I first paid for my alignment. My vist left me feeling frustrated. The receptionists are always lovely and welcoming however.

Fantastic experience: I have suffered with crooked teeth and poor dental health all my life until i came to to Total Orthodontics. They explained the options and treatment process covering the long term benefits and more importantly what would be involved to achieve it. I was to say the least nervous and apprehensive about getting a brace at my age (50). They were incredibly patient and understanding even after several visits! (free of charge) before I finally decided to proceed. They worked closely with my periodontist and dentist coordinating a treatment plan that accommodated my professional work schedule and personal enagagments. The staff are always polite, professional, quick to get back to you and do their best to make you feel confortable when you arrive. A big thank you to Lorraine for her impeccable manner and promptness in following up on last minute changes. Fantastic experience: For the the past couple of years i was under the care of an amazing orthodontist named Dr Amreen Ahmad and her assisting dentist Ellie Haman , Both were the coolest , lovely and very professional . If i had any concerns with my braces they would quickly fix any issue i had and answer any question i thrown at them ! I would absolutely recommend you to go to Total Orthodontists if you ever get the chance to :D

Negative experience: I went there to get a new retainer and ended up with enamel damage on 6 teeth, one of them filed down and reduced in size. I’d had braces elsewhere which left my bite uncomfortable so I went to this practice for advice and to get a new retainer. The discomfort was caused by a canine which is lower than my other teeth. The doctor examined my teeth and said that the problem would be resolved by removing “minimal” amounts of enamel. I declined. He kept repeating that this was a very safe and common procedure which he’d performed 1000s times and that the enamel of these teeth was 1mm thick. I asked about moving the tooth to a comfortable position, he said that this was “too much work” and that enamel removal was the solution. I said no several times but agreed to get a new retainer to see if this would help. When I went to have the impressions taken he said that he first needed to clean glue from the backs of my front teeth. I used to have a wire glued there which he knew about. The glue had been cleaned and I could not feel any left, my teeth were smooth and naturally shaped. I reminded him that I don’t want any enamel to be removed and he said, "No enamel will be removed, I will use a tool that is too weak to cut through enamel". I’d previously had glue removed from my teeth and it never caused any damage so I trusted him and let him do the procedure. Halfway through I realised that he was making vertical strokes up and down my teeth, top to bottom. Since the wire had been right next to my gums it didn’t feel right that he was going to the very bottom of my teeth. Plus, it didn’t feel like he was cleaning anything, he was just making vertical strokes up and down. It was happening too fast for me to do anything. When he got to the tooth that causes discomfort he pressed harder, made vertical cuts top to bottom, then 2 horizontal slashes at the tip of my tooth. When I felt the backs of my teeth there were dents and sharp edges on my canine, which was now thinner and smaller, and scratches on all my other front teeth. I confronted him about removing my enamel and he kept repeating, “No enamel has been removed. There was a lot of glue there”. The next day I saw a dentist who confirmed that my enamel is roughened on all 6 upper front teeth and that there is enamel reduction of my canine. I complained to the practice and the doctor apologised saying that the procedure would not normally damage the enamel but in rare cases might cause minor scratches. He claimed that he “took the utmost care” not to damage my enamel and didn’t notice any damage. He said that I should have my teeth polished and covered with glue and they’ll be like new again. So after convincing me that “glue” which I could never feel had to be cleaned for “hygienic purposes” he was now saying that I should cover the cuts he left on my teeth with glue? His reply also included a 1-page essay about how common and harmless enamel reduction is and how he’s performed it 1000s times. After I questioned some inconsistencies in his reply he changed his mind. Without examining me he suddenly became certain that he hadn’t damaged my enamel at all, but since he was so careful he must have not removed all the glue which is why my teeth feel rough. He claimed that he can “prove beyond doubt” that my enamel is not damaged by removing the rest of the glue using the safe drill (he is now back to claiming that the drill is completely safe and cannot possibly cause any damage), exposing my unharmed enamel. This was 2.5 years ago and the damaged areas still hurt all the time. Enamel doesn’t regenerate so they’re not likely to stop hurting. The reduction he “accidentally” performed did not resolve the discomfort as he claimed. What he did was incredibly violating and I’ve been suffering from a bad traumatic response. I reported the doctor to the regulators but they told me that he didn’t have to warn me about the risk of enamel damage?! He still works there so please be careful.

Fantastic experience: My daughter has just finished her treatment under the care of Amreen Ahmad. Her teeth, which were gappy and had an overbite, are now absolutely gorgeous! Any problems with bits of the brace breaking etc. Were always seen to and it was always care with a smile. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Mike from total orthodontics called me the first thing on Monday morning, explained the technical problem of the phone on Friday, and helped me to book an urgent appointment. Great customer service, hence changing the review to 5 star. ------------------------------------------------------------ I called in a Friday afternoon (around 4) and held the phone for around 40 mins - no one picked it up! This is the third time i called on the same day, and I couldn't get through to them in any occasions. Don't waste you time on this rubbish orthodontist!

Fantastic experience: I had some major orthodontics at the ripe old age of 47 instead of replacing old crowns and am delighted with the result. The treatment was considerate of the fact that I have a high profile job and was self conscious of having braces, and Richard was able to ensure that whilst in treatment I had no visible gaps.
