Positive experience: I never normally say anything but good about the practice but this time I'm bound to say I was disappointed with my treatment. I was having a cap on a badly broken single tooth but the result left the tooth brown and not covered by a white cap which I had expected. Presumably, the tooth was too far gone to be fully capped but I don't know.

Fantastic experience: I visited Ruabon Road Dental Practice on Tuesday 1st July 2025. I was treated by my Dentist Dr Ann Marie Hodgson. I thought I might need a filling in one of my upper back teeth. However Dr Hodgson examined me and discovered a piece of enamel had come away on the tooth in question. The issue was treated after Dr Hodgson gave me a full explanation of what she was going to do, building my trust and confidence in her. I am delighted with the result and once again Dr Hodgson has “come up trumps” for me. A wonderful dentist and a lovely, very caring person!! Dr Hodgson’s Dental Nurse was also professional, courteous and obviously happy in her job. I must also say the staff working on the Reception Desk were very courteous and professional. The computer system was causing them a number of headaches but their smiles remained in place. Well done!!

Positive experience: I arrived at 08:15 for a 08:30 appointment and informed the reception (2 ladies) of my attendance. They forgot to enter my details. The hygienist had to come looking for me.

Fantastic experience: I went to have a tooth removed. My dentist Anwen is amazing at injections, which are always the worry for me! I hardly felt anything. The tooth, which had been bothering me so long, was out in seconds! My whole appointment from sitting in the chair, to leaving was literally ten minutes! Today, just 24 hours later, I’m pain free. I would recommend this dentist to anyone! Many thanks to them.

A member of staff witnessed my struggles to get to my first floor surgery and suggested an appointment could be arranged on the ground floor if more appropriate for my circumstances, still with my usual dentist, which was much appreciated.

Fantastic experience: I was referred to Ruabon Road Dental Practice for a surgical tooth extraction. Mr Hodgson done the procedure and was very professional and informative about what he was going to do. The work was carried out without any issues and the treatment I recieved was very good. All the staff were very helpful and friendly.

Negative experience: After having a tooth extraction in Feb they had broken off part of it but said no problem it's fine and won't cause any trouble. Within days I was getting a sensation that it wasn't right but was assured that it was good. Now jump to April and my face was swollen at the site of broken tooth. I got an appointment and had x-ray that showed it was the cause. A course of antibiotics and told it needed to be extracted, of which I was told £280 to £310 even though I'm an NHS patient who is disabled otherwise it's 2 years wait. Hence to say my face is still swollen and I would rather do the extraction myself. Not a happy chap when they where the ones who left the tooth in saying it was fine .

Fantastic experience: This week I had a 6-month check-up with my dentists, Wil Hodgson and his assistant and then with the hygienist, Julie Hughes. I felt safe in the hands of professionals and happy with my mouth health. They are excellent and provide guidance for self-mouth care during appointments. I strongly recommend them.

Fantastic experience: After not visiting a hygienist for a long time, (just having check ups and treatment) My first visit around 3 months ago, where I had scale & polish etc, but was given a lot of advice on keeping my teeth in better condition . 3 months later after following the treatment and advice I went back for my next appointment to be told my gums and teeth were in much better condition and now only need a 6 month visit not 3 They feel better, look better and I'm so pleased after the advice given to me by my hygienist, even she was pleased with me ! Fantastic experience: I had Bethan for a hygiene appointment and I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. She was so knowledgeable and gave me some really good tips and advice and was so kind and lovely through the whole appointment❤️

Positive experience: Overall experience was decent, however the hygienist did not quite target fully removing calculus off my back teeth and molars, it was mostly my front teeth which she focused on so I feel as though I did not quite get my money’s worth. Experience still positive, but perhaps need another appointment to remove the remaining plaque off my molars.

As an extremely nervous patient, Dr Naylor couldn’t have been nicer. He explains things as he’s doing them which really puts you at ease and is very professional but still friendly! Fantastic experience: Easy to find with extremely helpful and professional staff. I have searched for an NHS dentist for some time without success so had to resort to private treatment. It is expensive but I certainly got value for money. Most importantly they made me feel at ease and kept my wellbeing in mind. My only bugbear was parking but considering where the surgery is located I don't think it detracts from the excellent service I received.

Fantastic experience: The atmosphere at RRDP is always calm and relaxing. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and the equipment used seems to be state of the art. The staff are wonderful and I always feel that Mr Naylor and Julie the hygienist are genuinely concerned about me and my dental and overall health.

Fantastic experience: Boy, where do I start with this review. I was so scared of even the thought of sitting in a dentist chair never mind getting actual dental work done for over 10 years as I had a traumatic experience when I was younger. I came to the practise nervous but within minutes of sitting down with Samuel Johnson, all of my nerves left my body. Sam is my dentist and every time I see him, he does an absolutely outstanding job and leaves me happy and informed of what went on and what the plan is going forwards every time. I then also met Will just a few days ago and Will is tremendously helpful and knowledgable like Sam too. Will was walking me through the whole process when it comes to dental implants and my confidence has risen ten fold. When I get work done with Will, I know I’m in good hands. All off the hygienists, office staff, everyone are just A players that you can’t find anywhere else. I can’t wait for my next visit! If you’re on the fence about seeing a dentist, look no further than these guys. They are the BEST!

Fantastic experience: Would like to say a big thank you to Anwen yesterday who did two filings for me. I was in and out the chair in no time and I have had no pain at all since. Best experience I have had in the dentist, by far! She is such a lovely lady and puts you at ease as soon as you walk in the room!

Fantastic experience: From the moment you walk in to reception adequate measures are taken to keep everyone safe, from sanitisation points to making sure patients are aware that covid restrictions are in place, with such things as seat planning and asking people to only turn up for their appointment a few minutes prior to the allotted start time, as well as the pre-appointment online questionnaires. Once inside, the receptionists are welcoming and helpful before you take a seat. When called into the dental room you're welcomed by the dentist and their assistant. They listen to any issues and concerns you may have and recommend what the plan of action will be for today's visit, step by step. The only niggle I have, personally, being a private patient, is that deposits can be a bit on the expensive side, which are pre-payable before any treatment has taken place, I would be more comfortable if I am given a breakdown of costs for the treatment I have just received and pay for just that. Overall, this is an excellent practice, but a bit of forward planning regarding treatment and costs could do with looking into, so that patients know exactly what they should expect and cause them less stress before, during and after each visit.

Fantastic experience: Staff is very friendly and helpful. My dentist explains every step of the way which makes it very comfortable. I changed from the dentist I was because at least around here I have parking space, manage to put my child as a NHS patient and they do a complete checkup with x-ray included. Also the treatment is very complete (including hygiene, fillings and extractions) and they only do what is really necessary. Definitely recommended!

Positive experience: I have been registered at this Practice for the last 40 years and obviously have been very satisfied. Recently however it has a newly refurbished waiting area which is smart, and change of Professionals and some Reception Staff. Having had my previous Dentist for all that time and who has now retired, I expected to feel a little nervous with my new one, but in no time I felt comfortable with Debbie who put me at my ease. The Reception Staff are also very nice and professional. I would recommend this Practice to anyone looking for a new Dental Practice. My 4 stars are purely because of the parking or lack of it. The Practice itself definitely 5 stars.

Fantastic experience: Went yesterday for a philing and some other things, both young lady’s were most helpful and professional. Made the experience comfortable and painless .

Negative experience: Having previously been an NHS patient for a number of years at the practice, now that I've had to go private, I was disappointed tbh. I have a cavity that needs filling. I was told by the receptionist that I'd need an assessment but 30 mins would be enough to also have a temp filling. My appt was at 2.30 but was not seen til gone 2.40 but had an apology. I had my assessment and was told there was no time to fill the cavity. I was escorted to the payment terminal by the Dentist, who took payment and made another appt (15 mins) for a temp filling. I was in my car at 2.55. So basically I was with the Dentist for less than 15 mins.....I paid £60 for a 30 min slot and cant understand why the temp filing could not be done in one go. I now have paid an additional £60 for a second appt. I had no real issue with NHS service, maybe acceptance that scheduling was not the best, however returning as a private patient I was expecting a more professional service.

Fantastic experience: Had a filling replaced on Friday. Not a problem!!! Not a fan of needles, but needn't have worried. No pain, or discomfort at all. Dentist so pleasant and put my nerves to rest from the start. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Following my first visit to this Practice, I would not hesitate to recommend. Everything about the Practice is quality. Their use of technology is excellent, its clear and it works. The initial consultation was refreshing, a genuine discussion of what can be done, ought to be considered and needs to be done, and why. My views were solicited and discussed. The team I dealt with were both professional and friendly… and all this on a Saturday afternoon!

Negative experience: Think twice before getting a dental crown from them, because you might end up like me with a tooth stub instead of a tooth. You will only get a one-year warranty. After that time, if the crown falls out and you're left with a tooth stub, you'll have to pay for everything as if you were starting treatment for a new tooth, including the initial consultation. This means you'll need to pay £60 just for them to tell you what went wrong and why the crown fell out after a year. A one-year warranty on a crown is unacceptable.

Fantastic experience: I was in awful pain and they got me in pretty quickly to see sam. I needed a tooth out and within 10 minutes my tooth was out and pain was gone. Sam was brilliant and talked me through the process and made me feel like I was in safe hands.

Fantastic experience: When you have toothache this is the best place on earth but seriously. I've been with them for years and their service couldn't be better. They went through modernisation about 4yrs ago and I felt the focus on "additionals" picked up a notch in line with similar patterns in the sector. I've stayed NHS and have no problem at all apart from being handed over to a new dentist because my old one has moved to the dark side of private practice.
