Fantastic experience: I have been going to Dental beauty islington for over thirty years ( previously Pickerings dental surgery) I was worried when a larger company took over that it may loose that personal touch with people that knew me and my two sons . However , they have continued to offer that personal touch with the lovely receptionists and incredible dentists particularly Ole . All this , i think comes from the incredible surgery manager , Stephanie Penny , who has tirelessly worked to keep both the efficiency and the human side of the surgery very much alive . Positive experience: Nice dentist and facility. Main complaint was the wait. I arrived to my appointment 15 mins early to ensure I was on time. When I arrived there was no one waiting and dentist wasn’t seeing anyone. 5 mins prior to my appointment someone else turns up (clearly late) and goes straight in and proceeds to have a 40 minute consultation. When I finally see my dentist it was a 10 minute in and out job. Something to consider!

Negative experience: Avoid. There’s a really bad dentist called Mathias Wohlberg who didn’t refer me to a specialist clinic for patients with extra pain/anxiety, he expressed that he didn’t think I needed it and complete apathy and hostility towards my condition. I later got confirmation from the specialist that he’d worded the referral so bad it was as though he didn’t want me to get accepted. They also removed me from the patients list for being 20 minutes late despite calling them to tell them and they still told me to come in. There’s a Spanish sounding girl who answers the phone sometimes and is really unhelpful.Overall you will not feel seen or helped here, especially if you have complexities with pain. Really a vile and immoral place with a bunch of false 5 star reviews. I’ve warned you

Fantastic experience: Had my first hygiene session in a while with Yasmin. She was lovely and calmed my nerves, and also provided lots of advice to help prevent any buildup in the future. She cleaned my teeth really well and definitely is amazing at her job!

Negative experience: The reception staff, Matilda, was most helpful. The dentist wasn’t as much. She was patronising and condescending, with a bit of a smirk and curtness that was offensive. The next days follow up was traumatising and required 5 calls to speak reach the right person for follow up.
Fantastic experience: Feel really at ease here as I was a nervous patient but now I've overcome that fear as dentist puts you at ease and explains everything I wouldn't go anywhere else

Fantastic experience: Yasmin was my hygienist today and she was incredible! She was so caring and put me at ease (I get nervous during teeth treatments). She even had on the notes that I was nervous so made me feel comfortable the second I walked in. Fantastic experience: I love this dental surgery so much that, following move to suburbia several years ago, I keep coming back, in spite of the travel time (over an hour). It’s worth it to see the people who know my teeth well. Over time, I’ve had a few fillings. The options have always been made clear, with advice about the various prices and different treatments. The dentist I see (I think it is Dr Ole A Kvalsnes) for standard work is highly skilled & knowledgable, and always makes me laugh! The implant service here is perfect. Dr Phil Sterrett gave very clear, honest & helpful advice, back in 2011, about the central front inscisor that I damaged in childhood. He shared the task of replacing the tooth with another specialist to whom he referred me, to ensure the best possible results at a price I could manage. If my implant crown needs checking, re-gluing or replacing, he’s always the one I see. The dental hygienist is utterly brilliant: unfortunately, I don’t know her name, but she is gentle and offers outstanding advice on how to keep a healthy mouth, which, if followed by the patient, results in a pain-free cleaning experience. The reception staff are always helpful & professional. I cannot recommend this surgery highly enough.

Negative experience: Didn’t clean properly. She was 10 mins late for the appointment. She wanted me to do one hour but I didn’t have time and she did about 10 mins clean and said it’s done. I’m out at 9:50 one of my worst experiences for so far

Negative experience: I left feeling disappointed and unheard. I didn’t get the chance to speak with a dentist about my concerns—only the hygienist, who isn’t qualified in the same way. She advised rinsing with mouthwash straight after brushing (which goes against widely accepted dental guidance), then told me to switch to an SLS-free toothpaste. I already use one, but she insisted my brand contains SLS—she was wrong. Overall, the experience felt rushed, misinformed, and dismissive. Unfortunately, this is what dental care in London can look like—paying a small fortune for a service that lacks both clarity and value.

Negative experience: "Isn’t it funny how, when you have a toothache so bad you’re ready to pull it out yourself and your on NHS they tell you the next available appointment is in three weeks—because they're fully booked? But if you want a hygiene appointment and you're paying, suddenly there's one available tomorrow. Amazing how pain doesn't move the calendar, but money does!"

Fantastic experience: Zoriana has been my dentist for over 10 years. She's very different from other dentists I've been with. She's always friendly, caring, and puts you at ease - as does the dental nurse, Iryna. Even after all these years, Zoriana and Iryna seem to get better with every visit! I've recommended Zoriana and Iryna to my friends. They are especially good with nervous patients. The dental practice has many dentists. So when you book, be sure to book an appointment with them! The dental practice used to have drop-in treatments with the dentists on duty. That was unusual but very useful for emergencies. That seems to have stopped. It would be great if they resumed that service.

Fantastic experience: Had a hygienist appt and I was soo nervous thinking god knows what the hygienist is going to think after seeing my teeth. When my name got called I was greeted by a sweet girl called Yasmin. From the moment I sat on the chair till I left Yasmin was very friendly and welcoming. She explained the whole cleaning process and made sure I was involved in my treatment. Not at one point did she make me uncomfortable, it was as if I knew her from somewhere before. Negative experience: I would not recommend this dental practice, I contacted today with a broken tooth, which I actually broke on Monday and have been firming the pain since. This morning I spoke with an unprofessional disgustingly behaved staff member called KATY/KATIE which I would like the phone call reviews; the second I said I would like NHS and not PRIVATE appointment I wasn’t treated like a priority. I suffer with stress related epilepsy and I am bipolar and suffer bipolar disorder a form of mental health. To be treated like dirt by your colleague and claimed that my tone of voice or how I’m speaking she doesn’t like. Again I have a broken tooth I’m struggling to speak she spoke over me , she belittled me and also hanged up the phone when I’ve requested to speak to a manager. NHS - National health service whom are struggling to give a standard level of customer care, where is the duty of care? There isn’t one

Negative experience: The first dentist I had a consultation with suggested that I need fillings in places that I was unaware of, and for part of my broken tooth to be left alone! This did not leave me with much confidence, and I requested a new dentist, and she suggested something completely different, but more believable. The second dentist and her assistant was super sweet and gentle, and I felt in safe hands, even as a nervous patient. I paid for my pre agreed treatment, and a week after that, I got a call saying that they charged me incorrectly and I have an outstanding balance. As you are aware, dental treatments are super expensive as they are, and requesting money additionally, a week after my treatment?! After the phone call with the reception ( not very friendly) and an email with the manager, they admitted that the receptionist made an error, but I still need to pay for it. Surely, if an error is made by an incompetent person, I should not be the one who's paying for that. Additionally, my Invisalign consultation was an absolute joke, and I almost threw up when the lady who did the scanning, dropped the device in my throat. Needless to say, I am not moving forward with any of the additional treatments, or with my Invisalign journey.

Negative experience: I have the feeling that this dentist is diverting nhs patients to private. He advised me to get implants privately and told me that I should have to pay almost £300 to get dentures because NHS don't do molds. Well, I just came back from another dentist who took the molds for dentures on the nhs. He's also very patronising, telling me that he was only repeating himself because my primary language's not English. Bye bye Dental Beauty

To clarify, NHS dentures—including impressions/moulds—are indeed available and typically fall under Band 3 treatment, which is currently £326.80. If a patient has missing teeth, we always aim to offer all clinically appropriate options, both NHS and private, and leave the choice entirely up to the patient.

Fantastic experience: Lovely super hygienic, very organized, friendly staff and most painless dentist I ever had. I am an NHS patient. My dentist (can't give name because wants to stay anonymous and would be inundated so I would never get appointment) should give lessons to dentists' conferences in his slow needle method that avoids nearly all pain in most parts of the mouth. By taking a few minutes to inject, he makes sure that the gum ahead of the needle gets squirted with the numbing solution and has a few seconds to numb a little before the needle hits it. I asked another dentist that I had to see for more surgical dental work on a very deep difficult tooth to do this and he wasn't happy because it takes time but he did it, so perhaps you can try asking your dentist. Of course some parts of the mouth are more difficult but still should help a little.

Positive experience: Update: I had an issue with this practice that has now been resolved. I am most grateful for their attentiveness to fix the issue. I got a full refund for an error that I have been assured has now been fixed regarding emails for private service users being sent to NHS customers. Lost a star because I have noticed that every time I come to this dental practice, I am always told I need something that other dentists I have been to have not also recommended. There seems to be a potential conflict with it being a private practice getting a NHS appointment. I feel like I am getting upsold when I attend. Dentists are very kind and quick service. When they do checks I feel like they are doing a good job.

Negative experience: February 2025 i went to the clinic on upper st for consultation.we made agreement on treatment plan so They Adviced me to do 2 times Hygene appointment before invisalign treatment. I did 2 appointments and paid 140£. After hygene appointments , they emailed me and saying " we cant help you but we advice you to go to battersea X cpinic" Seems to me Scamming people.i wasted my 3 months.

Fantastic experience: Popped on here to commend Irina on her warm and highly professional manner. I always visit the clinic with my daughter and she immediately makes us feel at ease. I feel very lucky to have found amazing clinicians at Dental beauty Islington, wouldn’t go anywhere else now!

Negative experience: There is nothing worse than being spoken to by an unhelpful and unpleasant receptionist who is chewing gum/sweet whilst dealing with your appointment. Very disrespectful! People like this give the place a bad reputation.

Positive experience: Dr Wahlberg was friendly & open. He said I didn't need a cleaning as whatever I was doing was working. I'm using Okinawa Coral Calcium & Pitch Black from Noble Naturals

Positive experience: The dentist I met was great - made me feel comfortable and was patient with my toddler - however the dentistry itself has a cattle market feel to it. Lacks continuity and feels abit too buisnessy but I suppose that’s just the way things are nowadays you no longer have the ‘family dentist that knows you or you know them’ so maybe it’s not a floor but a general change it society or maybe I’m getting too deep. I just felt that staff at the desk were kind but cold.

Fantastic experience: I really liked how now you can enter your own details directly throught the practise online portal. This is a lot better than filling the form or spelling out names to the receptionist. I really liked this improvement in the process. Also the reception was very welcoming. The dentist did a fantastic job at explaining issues and possible effects and solutions.
