Fantastic experience: I have been coming to the Darrell House Practice for more than 20 years (since the days of Pieter La Roux) and I've seen it evolve, as dentistry itself has, over time. Earlier this year I needed to have a crown fitted. Right at the back. My dentist, Denise, explained that it would be a tricky one to replace as there was not much tooth left, and she reccommended that I should see a colleague who specialises in such things - a bit like having a GP referring one to a hospital specialist, I suppose. Long story short, it went like a dream. Today I went for my routine 6-monthly visit. I saw Lauren first (a hygienist) who was very thorough. She pointed out that I had a small blood blister, and if it didn't improve within 3-4 weeks, then I should come back for a check-up. Next I met Carissa. She went through the usual reminders about what to routinely look out in case of problems, how to clean one's teeth, etc. Historically this would have been done by the dentist, but Carissa had time to go Into this more thoroughly. She even pointed out something that I'd not thought of before! Thanks Carissa. She then took a 3D scan of my teeth. She explained that by doing this on most visits, the dentist can monitor more easily how the teeth are changing (and the rate of change) over time. Personally, I see this as a good proactive step forward and, as it's included in the standard price, it's definitely adding value. Finally the check-up with Denise. Having had a session with Carissa, Denise had more time to go through the check-up process itself (including looking at the blood blister, and reviewing the scan). Still not a fan of going to the dentist (bad childhood experiences 60+ years ago), but I do appreciate the friendliness and thoroughness of these three practitionsers . Thank you.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Zara Shah saw my 10-year-old son recently, and I was truly impressed by the entire experience. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist was welcoming and friendly, which immediately set a positive tone. Dr. Zara was absolutely amazing with my son. She was so friendly, patient, and professional throughout the entire visit. She took the time to ask him questions and made sure he felt comfortable. My son was a bit nervous, especially during the X-ray, but Dr. Zara handled it with incredible patience. She had to try three times because he was struggling, but she never gave up or made him feel uncomfortable. Her calm and kind approach made all the difference. It’s clear that Dr. Zara genuinely cares about her young patients, and I would highly recommend her to any parent looking for a skilled and compassionate dentist. We’re very grateful to have found her!

Fantastic experience: I had to visit the dental clinic recently for an emergency appointment as one of my fillings had come out. Although my regular dentist was away, the dentist Dr Denise Ngsiad saw me did an absolutely amazing job. She was incredibly patient, took her time to explain everything clearly, and made me feel at ease throughout the whole process. I really appreciated the care and professionalism she showed. Thank you for looking after me so well – I left feeling reassured and well-informed about my dental health!

Fantastic experience: Went to Darrell House today for an appointment (pre tooth extraction). I arrived feeling very anxious, uneasy and nervous. I was seen by Lewis who did an xray on my mouth and advised me what I needed to have done. I then spoke to Lucy about my treatment and cost etc and filled in some paperwork ahead of when I have my teeth taken out etc. Lucy and Lewis couldn't do enough for me and are a credit to Darrell House Dental Practice ( wish I could give them more stars)

Fantastic experience: We had the chance to meet Zara Shah who is an amazing dentist. She explained everything about the dental procedure to my daughters (8 and 7 years old). They are afraid of dentist appointments but after Miss Zara talked to them they felt relieved . Now they are more confident with dental appointments. I am grateful for that!

Fantastic experience: I've been with Darrell house/ Carpenters arms all my life now (22) and they have never once failed me. Staff are friendly and calming. The dentist's are professional and understanding. Couldn't recommend a better place than here! I’ve already written a review before so I’m gonna write another one at the ripe age of 27 I’ve recently changed to Zara and Uzma. I’ve been awfully anxious about the dentist for a while and the calm energy they bring and the encouragement Zara gives me during any work being done is so effective. Had my first set of fillings in a while now today and I came out of the dentist happy! I can’t thank them enough! Smooth, quick, efficient work with a wonderful smile. Thanks again ladies! Fantastic experience: I phoned the practice yesterday with suspected tooth fracture and pain. The very friendly efficient Receptionist offered me an appointment that afternoon. I was seen for assessment and treatment plan, and today I went back to have my tooth extracted. Swarupini is just lovely, professional and reassuring. Amazing service as always from Darrell House Dental Practice.

Fantastic experience: Very professional service. My dentist is very friendly and puts me at ease especially since I had a previous bad experience many years ago and have a bad reaction to treatment, which my dentist is aware of. Reception is also very friendly, they send me a text to remind me of appointments which I find very useful. They are also aware I need a ground floor room and they make sure I see the same dentist in the ground floor room, since I have problems climbing stairs. There is a wheelchair slope which I use to get to the entrance, there are also steps if you are more able bodied.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed. After coming to this place for many years I’ve had to leave. This practice has a ridiculous loss of communication and lack of knowledge in dentists. First of all every 6 months of turning up to the dentist she kept telling me I had a new hole, bit difficult to believe they were happening that quickly, went to a new dentist as I found it suspicious and found out that I do have some weakening in my teeth, been prescribed a strong toothpaste which has helped, this also leads me onto the point that I have complained to this dentist that my fillings that she had done are really sensitive even after ages it had been done, which she just told me it’ll go away.. the toothpaste that the new dentist (not at this practice) prescribed me had solved the issue. Seems like this place is just looking for money and not actually helping patients. Second of all I had to come in many times to complain about my wisdom tooth that is growing completely on its side and this women told me it’s all okay.. when u can see with ur naked eye that it’s even pushing out my tooth in front as it’s growing underneath it. After a while of complaining I had finally been referred to a sedation clinic back in maybe April 2024, maybe earlier… I’ve had no contact this whole time so Jan 2025 I had called the sedation clinic and they told me they had no referral… I called the dentist which only then I had been told that it was refused… why? Due to the dentist not sending the correct X-ray photos to the triage team. Now my question is how long ago was this refused? Have I been sitting almost a year with no contact from my dentist to tell me it had been refused?? I had now gone and sorted a referral elsewhere. What a waste of time.

Negative experience: Absolutely aweful, I cancelled my appointment with notice and I'm still waiting for my refund for 3 weeks. Lots of excuses made, unhelpful reception, not willing to give out a managers number to help me

Positive experience: Nice dental practice, clean and friendly staff. However I paid for a private emergency appointment due to pain and I felt I had an infection in my tooth. I was assessed briefly and was told I was just run down causing inflammation. I asked for pain relief as was told to just use over the counter ibuprofen. I was in so much pain I had to pay for a second emergency appointment elsewhere where it was confirmed that I had an infection and needed antibiotics. Pain improved over the next 48 hours once on antibiotics.

My dentist Pavit Sehmi made me very at ease, she was very kind and thoughtful and gave me very helpful and answered my concerns I had. I left there with a happy smile.( I use to be terrified from a young age) and now go with ease. Her Dental assistant is also lovely too. Also the girl’s at the receptionist desk were also vey kind and welcoming. In all I would have no doubt in recommending Darrell House a excellent dentist.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the receptionists, who made me feel right at home. The entire staff is exceptionally friendly and professional. The dental hygienist Ganesh who treated me was the gentlest and most considerate I’ve ever encountered. They took the time to ensure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure, making what is usually a stressful experience incredibly pleasant. I also go there for routine appointments with my dentist Swarupini and she is amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Negative experience: Check-up prices have increased by over 50% to £85 and they also insist on full payment when booking, even for appointments 6 months in advance. Price gouging shouldn't be encouraged so I now use a different dentist.

Fantastic experience: I don’t live in the UK but was visiting family when an old implant became loose. I made an emergency appointment with Denise, having been recommended by a friend to your surgery. From my initial phone call to the receptionist to Denise, the dental nurse and then to the other receptionist I was blown away by the care, warmth, dedication and efforts made to then find me an appointment with a specialist who will hopefully do the necessary work tomorrow. I can’t thank you all - or recommend your surgery enough, really.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Darrell House Dental Practise when I moved to Dunstable 41 years ago. Always been very happy with the service hear. Today I had work on on my tooth and was looked after well. Very friendly and talks to you. Keeping you calm like you would talk to a friend. Very happy with the service I had done.

Fantastic experience: Between the staff at Obex in Houghton Regis and staff in Dunstable, I felt very reassured that my dental complaint was going to be managed, effectively, and efficiently. I had an appointment booked in Houghton Regis for next week, but my complaint became more urgent. Upon contacting the practice, they immediately explained that whilst they had no appointments, Darrell House did. Staff attempted to contact them but were unsuccessful, informing me of all attempts along the way, eventually advising me to contact Darrell House. Upon doing so, I was greeted warmly by the reception staff who validated my complaint and handled transferring my payment. I was advised of what to expect when attending my appointment and that I would need to complete a medical questionnaire. Upon arriving at my appointment, I felt at ease and welcome from the reception staff to the dentist. The dentist immediately acknowledged my dental complaint and explained thoroughly my options, allowing me to make an informed choice about my dental care. The dentist offered additional lifestyle improvements, which were welcomed as they were offered to prevent further deterioration, long term of my teeth, there were no patronising comments. The dentist even offered to arrange further treatment going forward. I felt very at ease asking questions, and all my questions were answered in a way I could understand, making this not quite a pain-free visit to the dentist but painless!

Fantastic experience: Seen by the dentist mr Lewis ‘ not only did he extract a problem lose tooth at my emergency appointment ‘ he also highlighted a problem tooth that needed attention and done it at the same appointment’ saving me money and time . Fantastic experience: Had an appointment for an extraction on 14th March with Pavit. Very pleasant and professional treatment. Kept informed throughout the procedure and didn't feel a thing, actually I didn't even realise the tooth had been extracted. I can't recommend enough.

Negative experience: The worse practice ever. My crown fell out 2 times. And another time after 2 hours the result was a nightmare. I needed a x ray from them and after a lot of calls, and 2 weeks , even i went at the practice, completed the form and steel nothing. So, never here.

Fantastic experience: I have found the Dental practice very professional, friendly, and caring. I do get nervous , but feel very much at ease when under the care of the dentist. Only one downfall, not easy to get through on the phone. Highly recommend the practice.

Fantastic experience: A very professional and well run dental surgery. Appointment start time and duration kept pretty well. Denise is a very pleasant dentist and she is very thorough - has a comprehensive preamble to check on my dental habits and is extremely clear on good advice. The check-up was thorough and well explained. A small filling was recommended - an estimate provided and no pressure exerted to get the work done. Almost a pleasure to attend, until you remember it is a dentist!!!

Fantastic experience: I suspect our experience with a dentist is never pleasant! However, what I have found at Darrell House Dental Practice is that the dentists listen to you! Pavit is amazing and knows my teeth sensitivity and so when any dental work is required, there is a measure of care second to none!

Even making the simplest phone call is extremely difficult for me. However the lovely lady on reception was very kind, patient and understanding of my situation. Fantastic experience: Just got back from a visit after having a molar tooth extracted by Dr Lewis Hazelton. I have always been very nervous and worried about going to the dentist but not since I signed up with Darrell House. My usual dentist Denise puts you at ease the moment you walk in and this visit to see Lewis was no exception. He explained in detail what was going to happen at the start and throughout the process. I cannot recommend this practice highly enough for the professionalism and quality of service from all their staff.

Fantastic experience: After many years my composite bonding had finally given out on my two front teeth just before my wedding. Having not been to the dentist in some time I wasn't sure what to expect. All I can say is wow, all staff very friendly and easy to get booked in. Denise was an expert in her field passing on many tips for teeth care. She was so lovely, kept me informed and checked on me constantly throughout my treatment. A very good experience, would love to move my normal dentist to here.
