Fantastic experience: We were lucky enough after covid to find this dental practice , after years of being with our original practise across the road who could not help unless we went private , my husband had to have his teeth checked regularly because of his heart ! I rang Hucknall Smile Centre, I explained our situation and within 10 minutes she offered to book us in when the appointment were available in 2 weeks . Since then we have been going regular every 6 weeks . I We are extremely happy with the practise the dentist very thorough, the staff we have seen are really nice and the surgery is immaculate. So please we found them!

Fantastic experience: I am a new patient at this dentist, went for my initial check up this week. I was very impressed with the care and service received from Dr Adeeba Shiekh., She was very professional, warm and welcoming. I believe they are taking on new patients and would highly recommend.

Negative experience: My friend comes here and all they have done is messed him about and discriminated him, because his dentist adeeba has been unperfessional, done a really bad job . For simply asking for a different dentist they have stopped his treatment , staff have been told not to talk to him, ignoring his emails, and when phoning them they hang up the phone. He is being treated differently because he asked for a different dentist with good reason and within his rights to do so. This was over a month ago and still waiting for a appointment, he was in the middle of treatment. It's all on hold , and left him in pain. There are bad dentists here and good ones. You can only hope you get a good one. The level of discrimination I'm witnessing here is disturbing.

Fantastic experience: Dr Annette is one of the most kindest dentists I’ve ever come across. Made me feel at ease, chatted generally as well and made me feel so comfortable during both times I had to see her. Amazing dentist!

Negative experience: I was so happy to have found a dentist taking on NHS patients and got an appointment straight away. On arrival I was told my appointment was being cancelled as the dentist had called in sick but she could try and squeeze me in for another dentist as it was only a first check up. The dentist was friendly and booked me in for a filling and a clean. I have been trying to get through on the phone for 3 days now as I need to cancel the appointment due to work commitments and each time I'm on hold for between 10 and 20 minutes with it telling me that my call is first in the line and then I get cut off. On reading the reviews it seems this is the main issue and it's not really acceptable. While I was waiting for another dentist to see me I noted 3 ladies sat behind the desk for the time I was there so more than enough staff to answer calls. Safe to say I don't think I'll be going back and I can't let them know as they won't answer the phone.

Fantastic experience: Excellent, needed an emergency appointment for my daughter. Scheduled the same day, issue noted within the first 5 minutes and resolved very quickly. Dr was amazing, she explained everything and kept my daughter informed and relaxed the whole time

Fantastic experience: Our first visit at this dental practice to see Adeeba Shiekh and this lady was absolutely fabulous. My daughter is a young teen and suffers with anxiety and struggles with seeing the dentist. Not anymore, Adeeba made her feel at ease within seconds. Now she is looking forward to her next appt. Adeeba is extremely confident and professional with excellent people skills making you feel safe and comfortable. The receptionist was very helpful and friendly as was the dental assistant. Fantastic experience: After having a serious fear of the dentist’s and not visiting one since 2016 I went to the smile centre. I was lucky enough to get DR Hemaii Chhaya and her wonderful nurse Eugenia both were beyond words. So kind, lovely, helpful and fully understood my fear, they didn’t belittle me or make me feel silly as some would. I had a check up and the DR fully explained everything to me and I revisited a week later for treatment and again my experience was amazing. I am booked next week and have no fear or worry about going anymore. I absolutely cannot thank them enough, they come highly recommended, thank you.

Fantastic experience: Samia and her assistant were incredible today. I had to have a filling done, and because of previous experience with other dentists, fillings in particular terrify me. Whenever I felt discomfort or fear, Samia was understanding and calming, and helped me get through the procedure calmly and quickly. She's super professional and a kind person, and I recommend her 100%! Did the job well and communicated with me throughout. Her assistant was also fantastic and made the process smooth and as comfortable as a dentist visit can reasonably be lol.

Fantastic experience: I've had an amazing experience with Mr. Manu, he is the best dental therapist. Extremely patient and very well versed. My 5 years old daughter had few appointments with him and she feels great as Mr. Manu treats her gently and explained me each and every step of the treatment.

Negative experience: Always telephoning to change appointment and never had so many appointments cancelled. Dreadful place to go.

Fantastic experience: Adeeba is an amazing dentist. I used to have such a fear of dentists that I didn’t go for years. 6 months ago I plucked up the courage to book an appointment due to jaw pain and was seen by Adeeba and the whole experience changed my state of mind around visiting the dentist. My return check up appointment today, whilst some apprehension was present, as soon as I realised it was Adeeba again, my fears disappeared. She provides amazing care and a calming experience. My jaw issue from 6 months ago has gone, all just after a conversation about my sleeping habits. Advice is always given about toothpastes to try for varying issues and positivity about the upkeep of my teeth and to keep doing what I am doing. I couldn’t recommend her more for her friendly demeanour and her professionalism. Thank you for helping me, I really appreciate it.

Fantastic experience: First experience of being at this dentist and I must say it is far better than my previous practice in Heanor. I received a txt reminder and a phone call reminder of my appointment and even had a call to move my appointment forward. Once inside it was very clean and spacious and we very greeted by the receptionist. Our Appointment was at 4.30 and we more or less went straight in. The Dentist was lovely and we had no issues other than the xray machine didn't want to work .

Negative experience: i just got shouted at ? asked me for date of birth and then ended the call without even letting me answer. Raised her voice so loud i felt scared. 2 months waited for appointment and last minute the dentist calls in sick and now need to wait another 2 months. 16:20 pm 3rd April Thursday. Now the receptionist is purposely not picking up my calls. When she did she just hanged up straight away. LISA - Please avoid speaking to Lisa i can’t wait to come to the practice she’s very rude shouts at you always speak to Miss Sharmin she is the only helpful staff Asked for practice manager email they gave me head office email ? lol It’s always these low life receptions that cause people problems

Negative experience: They just don't answer the phone, even when they've asked you to call back and you are number one in the queue. Having spent 45 minutes failing to get them to answer I gave up and registered elsewhere. I had a lovely dentist but have sufferred sensitivty ever since I had a filling replaced and the dentist doesn't seem to know why.

Fantastic experience: I had an accident and knocked my front tooth out, Megan made me feel so at ease and cared for when I was having a panic attack and crying infront of the dentist. She sat me down and calmly explained I would need a denture and it’s not that frightening and I wouldn’t feel a thing. It really calmed me down and made the experience more pleasant.

Fantastic experience: Was seen a few days ago by Dr Marie and Ella, very highly professional and the cleanliness of the surgery was up to a high standard. I was made to feel very comfortable and I no longer have dental anxiety.

Positive experience: First time visiting the practice. Practice is clean, good imaging on walls that's educational like sugar content in chocolate etc. Waiting areas clean with comfy chairs. Dental clinics well equipped. Saw jawaad who was very nice. Talked me through any concerns before starting. Very kind to his dental assistant. Kept me involved in care talking through xrays etc. Appointment was on time. Based on this alone I would have given 4 stars There were however some areas that could do with improving. The reception team (I'm sure this isn't all of them) really do let thr side down. Not welcoming at all. As I was leaving i explained it was my first time coming, the receptionist said '6 months and then the price of my appointment' when I then pulled out an exemption form she looked rather annoyed and asked why I hadn't told the dentist about it. Now as far as I'm aware the dentist doesn't need to know about that which led me to believe that their recommendation for further appointments may be different with those people exempt and those not. While this may not be true, the way the receptionist behaved implied this which isn't good either! While I'd like to think this was a one off, most of my family attend the dentist and have all had poor experiences with the reception team; not ringing back when they've said they will, not answering phones, cancelling appointments but not rearranging them during the call so you have to ring back another day and generally being quite abrupt and rude. Car parking also very limited but don't think there is much they can do about it.

Fantastic experience: Really good dentist. My dentist always explains what he's doing thoroughly and why, and gives good advice on caring for my teeth. Very friendly dental receptionists. Very pleased I'm with them.

Fantastic experience: Had 2days appointment with Dr adeeba waited just 2 days. She is kind friendly and put me at ease straight away. She is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and had time 4 me. I am 77 and finally need dentures. She discussed all options and she left the choice to me and didn't push me away from NHS into private as you might expect. She really did care 4 me as a person and not just another patient. I look forward to getting it all done. We'll done.

Fantastic experience: First time at smile dental care hucknall, nice reception and friendly. I arrived a bit early, but was soon seen very quickly. Dr Adeeba was friendly and had time for me, no rushing around to get you out and just tuck her time.

Negative experience: Worst behaviour of doctors / staff. Non cooperative staff. No one bothering to attend telephone at the Center and misbehaving with patients. Center can cancel your appointment a couple of hours before appointment if Doctor is not feeling well. Can’t doctor can accommodate a patient if he is late to appointment with a couple of minutes late due to traffic. Worst Center don’t book yourself at this Center.

Fantastic experience: I always had a wonderful experience with the Hucknall Smile Centre (Portland Road Family Dental Centre) over the past 6 years. The entire team is always friendly and professional, making me feel completely at ease during my visit. I've always been able to get through on the phone and never had a problem booking appointments. Lisa on the reception is amazing and makes you feel comfortable. My dentist, Dr Hallen, is an excellent dentist and explains everything clearly, which I really appreciate. They are also fantastic with kids, creating a comfortable and positive environment. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for an exceptional dentist.

Fantastic experience: I attended this clinic in an emergency a week before Christmas as I was experiencing extreme pain, I managed to get an appointment with Dr Adeeba Firdose Shiekh the same day to which I couldn’t of been more grateful. She gave me the antibiotics to help dissolve the infection and then carried out the treatment on Christmas Eve. This then made it possible for me to enjoy my Christmas with my family, which meant so much to me. I suffer with extreme anxiety to the point where I tremble and struggle to breathe. However, she was very friendly and understanding while being extremely attentive to my needs and worked alongside me with my medical conditions. It is truly great to come across a dentist who genuinely cares for their patients, while being so good at their job. She was really delicate, but precise which helped me to feel calm throughout the procedure. I cant thank this dentist enough for getting me out of the severe pain and for helping me when I really needed it. Amazing service.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, it seems unless you speak to two particular receptionists and/or see one of three particular dentists and their dental nurses, or you are a private patient, your experience is negative. Initially I saw a wonderful dentist who went on maternity leave then I saw her husband equally wonderful, who also left the practice. It was all downhill from there. I saw a very rude dentist that I asked not to ever see again. Then was moved to another who was pleasant but didn't communicate or explain things and when I asked questions, seemed to be offended. The wait for appointments was 3 or more months which is not great when you're in pain. My daughter who should be entitled to free NHS care had to be seen as a private patient. Considering she was only 2 years old no attempt was made to relax her and it lasted all of 3 minutes. Another issue is when you call the practice and are left on hold for 12 minutes and then cut off. This has happened repeatedly. I decided to leave and join another practice a bit further away who have been amazing! I got my daughters teeth checked again and it was done thoroughly while making her feel at ease. My treatments have all been completed within 8 weeks.

Negative experience: Dentists are great when you get to see them, but actually getting through to the practice on the phone to book appointments is almost impossible. Long time on hold waiting, then get cut off when you get to the front of the queue. Awful.

Negative experience: Just been one thing after another! 1- they cancelled my appointment without telling me. 2- booked me in with a private dentist without telling me. 3- In absolute agony with a tooth and was unable to help me ( i rang every day for a week), which ended up with an abscess. Ended up at emergency dentist costing £495! 4- Went in today with a sore tooth which used to have a crown on due to being broken from root canal. Few week ago they left it and wasn't bothered about it. Now today she said it has become infected. The tooth had broken below the gum line and was brittle (due to root canal). She should of referred me to a specialist, but instead she tried to remove it which ended up with her shattering the tooth and pushing it further into my gum! Was sent home with a prescription and a referral that could take 2 weeks!! Even though I am numb I am in absolute agony! If she knew if was going to be difficult, she should not of attempted to remove it and just referred me! I am in more pain leaving than what I was before I entered the building. Now she has pushed it further, my gum will need cutting open to remove the tooth being in this much pain, I am now willing to wait 2 weeks. Thank you for leaving me in more pain and stress after leaving your practice!

Negative experience: When I’ve actually been fortunate to have an appointment the dentists have been very nice but unfortunately my experience is constant cancellations of appointments and long waits for another appointment!

Fantastic experience: Just visited Portland road family dentist for a clean and a couple of fillings and had the most courteous and professional experience from Anjana Madhu would thoroughly recommend this dentist.

Fantastic experience: Sometimes difficult to get an appointment, however same everywhere nowadays. There is a new dentist joined named Manu Rajendran and he was the most thorough and polite dentist I’ve seen in years. Cleaned my teeth, x rayed and gave me a temporary filling in one appointment and arranged a filling for me in 5 days time. He was brilliant and really put time and effort into my dental care. I’d recommend trying to get an appointment with him if you are a bit uncomfortable with dental treatment like me! Thank you.

Fantastic experience: My little boy had a baby tooth extraction today with Manu, the dental therapist. I was absolutely blown away by him. He is such a kind and wam man who did absolutely everything he could to put my little boy at ease. He was so patient with him when he was in pain and soothed him through the whole procedure. He communicated with me so well about all of the things he needed to do during the procedure and also put my mind at ease. He gave my little boy a smiley face badge at the end to cheer him up, which was such a lovely touch. Honestly, I can't speak highly enough of Manu, he was the nicest and kindest dentist my son has ever seen. He is a credit to his profession and it's abundantly clear that he is following his calling in life. I can't thank you enough Manu, you are amazing.

Fantastic experience: Samia and Tia were amazing in helping my daughter Florence with her fear of the dentist. I was blown away by how they managed to keep her calm and still, not just for one, but four fillings! Thank you so much for the excellent service and for helping her overcome her dental anxiety.

Fantastic experience: Very friendly and informative for treatment of myself and my children. All dentists i’ve seen here have been all consistently good. This includes recent emergency care for a tooth abcess, where they resolved the issue much better than the emergency dentist I saw.

Fantastic experience: I was seen today by Dentist Manu & Dental nurse Aisha, both were attentive & lovely. I have very bad anxiety & my teeth aren’t in the best shape due to depression yet they did everything possible to put me at ease & fix my problems with lots of reassurance. Nothing was too much for them even when I panicked to stop things & they did an amazing job. Will be coming back to this dental surgery & to be seen by them both at request. Negative experience: Bad customer service. I was offended on multiple occasions when they slightly cussed out my teeth when they thought i wasn't looking. I applied for braces and they said to me ‘we can tell you need them’. I am absolutely appalled.

Fantastic experience: I went to the dentist last Friday after cancelling twice due to work commitments. I find the staff very friendly especially Lisa the receptionist who is so helpful and friendly and always smiling. Also a mention to Marie Hallam the dentist she is so professional in her work and makes me feel relaxed once I'm in the chair as I get so worked up when I go and get my teeth checked. Fantastic experience: My husband saw marie on wed 19th june with an abcess. Back a week later for an extraction. Excellent treatment from marie & ella. We also found the receptionists very helpful.

Fantastic experience: Great service today from Dr Anette, Nurse Jatinder and Lisa the receptionist. Dr Anette is reassuring, calming and great, especially with her knowing i get anxious about dental work and visits. It also helps that you always get a warm and friendly welcome, you aren't left waiting or hanging around and are dealt with in a friendly and professional manner. Great service all round. Keep up the good work, must be challenging at times with being the only dental practice in Hucknall.

Fantastic experience: Dr Jawwad is a very friendly and efficient surgeon. After being without a dentist for 3 years I was quite anxious but after an extraction and fillings I would recommend my dentist and the surgery to anyone. Very caring and professional, respectful and relaxing. Also informs you what work is to be done and why it is required. Excellent surgeon.

Fantastic experience: After coming here for many years I really feel very looked after and I couldn't speak more highly of Marie my dentist, Ella the nurse and Lisa and all the reception staff. They always try and get me in ASAP. Highly recommend portland Road family dentist. P.s I need a loyalty card after all my treatments.
