Fantastic experience: Ben Wood is the best dentist I’ve ever had. Professional, kind, considerate always goes the extra mile to explain the best treatment plan for my needs.

Negative experience: I had an appointment today 18/07 with the hygienist and they demanded payment before I attended. I missed the appointment as I overslept but called the same today to see if they could fit me in. The practice manager said they could but I would have to pay again! This is not the way to treat loyal long standing customers and management need to realise sometimes they have to give a bit to keep customer loyalty. In reply to Molly the Practice Manager, the only time I "failed to attend" was two years ago which was a genuine mistake and I did not have to pay for a second appointment. Your concern about your self employed hygienist is strange as he had a vacant slot the same day and would not have been out of pocket had I seen him that day. This is all about you holding my money and thinking you could charge again, had I not paid upfront I am certain there would not have been an additional charge for a second visit. This is extremely unprofessional behaviour and I would expect at the very least Heathcote House would refund my payment of £74. I am hoping my next Google review about Molly the Practice Manager will be positive confirmation she had the decency to credit my account. payment

Fantastic experience: I set Mr Hamilton the task of ensuring I had a good smile for my wedding within a rather short timeframe. I needed a replacement crown and my teeth were in need of whitening. Mr Hamilton & the lovely dental nurse that works alongside him indeed delivered and I am incredibly grateful to them for giving me the confidence to smile without feeling self conscious on my wedding day.

Positive experience: I recently had a very good and sympathetic clean here very happy with the hygienist. I had a check up with the dentist, I was kept waiting for half an hour but this was managed well by the team. As a new prospective client I didnt feel the dentist treated his delay with enough concern. hardly got up off his chair, was a poor communicator and hardly looked at me at all when he was addressing me. Not impressed with him and wouldnt see him again.

Negative experience: I enjoyed years of professional service from Brett Welby, but sadly standards are in decline. There are two main issues: 1. Operational inefficiency due to poor communication between the receptionists and the dentist / dental assistant. 2.A blame culture in which people avoid taking responsibility. This inevitably means that 'sorry' is very much the hardest word. I hope the manager arranges a group meeting so that these issues can be discussed fully and a sense of teamwork / staff pride restored.

Negative experience: I have never had such a painful Hygienist experience in my life, as I generally keep my teeth and gums in a good condition. First the Hygienist Katrina was first 5 mins late, but still spent 10 mins doing a questionnaire (which I had already done online) and telling me how to clean my teeth. I then had to hold my own sucker and she proceeded to frantically use the ultra sonic scaler and painfully nicked every single gum until they bled. I asked if I could rinse but she said, "no I'm almost finished", and proceeded to use the hook tooth scraper, tugging like she was in a hurry to go somewhere. I asked to rinse again and she said no and handed me the mirror, to my horror my mouth was full of blood and she then went on to physically demonstrate how to floss my teeth on 2 different teeth which was very painful. She then used the electric polisher and toothpaste, but this was only done on the front teeth not the molars, it took about a minute. She finally let me rinse. I asked her if she was also going to do the molars and she replied that she already did (not true). The appointment was done in 30 mins, meaning that less than 15mins was spent on cleaning my teeth - for £74 I was not expecting an express service. In most clinics they spend at least 25-30mins cleaning and 5 mins talking, taking their time and stopping to ask how I am - definitely not left bleeding from every gum. I did call the practice to speak to the Owner but the receptionist said she was busy and advised that I send an email. Molly responded to me 11 days later with a lot of excuses, not even addressing how rough the Hygienist had been, advising, "The time spent removing calculus or 'tartar' will also depend on how much build up each individual patient may have, therefore 15 minutes is likely to have been sufficient to remove this." In conclusion, this is what this practice finds acceptable, so join at your own risk.

Fantastic experience: Have been a patient now for many years and have always found all the staff to be very helpful and friendly. The clinic is extremely clean and a pleasure to visit. They send a email prior to an appointment as a reminder which is very helpful. The whole experience from arrival, paying the bill, booking the next appointment to leaving is a very easy process. My dentist and hygienist are a delight to visit and are always able to give advice and help regarding my dental health.

Recently I attended my first hygienist appointment with Katrina. It was a very positive experience and I left with lovely clean teeth and lots of new information to help me look after my ageing teeth!

Fantastic experience: As always a friendly welcome from the lovely receptionists. Our Dentist was thorough, informative and examined my neck / glands and checked my skin and ears for any unusual potential cancerous growths, this was really impressive. He explained what potential problems I might have with my teeth going forward eg existing fillings that require some work and he would xray my mouth on the next visit. I will be seeing Becky in a couple of months.

I really needed help quickly and Ben Woods was fantastic. He helped me and I felt so relived. I was soon on my way home. I followed Ben Woods to Heathcote and eventual two years ago. He is reliable, he is fantastic dentist.

Positive experience: It wasn’t the best of appointments as I arrived for my hygienist appointment prior to my check up to find that she had left the practice. I hadn’t been notified so had to wait for half a hour before the dentist was free. The receptionist told me they’d rung and left a message with my husband. He has no recollection of this (I believe him) and in any event, they should have spoken to me personally to ensure I was aware. Lots of apologies but not the best service. My check up on the other hand was good as always.
