Negative experience: Had a very unpleasant experience followed by a simple phone call to register my kids as an nhs new patients, both being under 18. We recently relocated from London and I am looking to register myself plus my kids and the receptionist was not helpful in any way. He said he doesn’t take new patients, he doesn’t know when registrations are opened and offered to give me an email address to try some other time. His tone was rude, not professional in any manner. I would not even want to be treated in a place like that where you cannot feel welcomed the minute you enter in. Please look more into hiring front of house to represent the clinic. Doctors can be top but if the first person you interact with behave a this way is a loss.

Negative experience: If you're looking for a welcoming, organised, and professional dental experience—this is definitely not the place. This is the worst dentistry practice in Liverpool. Despite booking well in advance and arriving early, I was left sitting in the waiting room while others were seen ahead of me. Only after I inquired was I casually informed that I "wasn't marked as present" and would need to rebook because my appointment time had been 30 minutes earlier (yes, I know I waited 30 minutes ), ridiculous right ? Not a single apology was offered—not even a vague attempt at acknowledging their error. The indifference from staff was almost impressive in its consistency. Rude and unapologetic, as a healthcare professional myself this is the lowest standard of care possible This isn’t an isolated issue either. Chelwood Dental (their other location) is, unsurprisingly, run with the same level of carelessness. I even paid in advance for a treatment I never received and was told it would be credited to my next appointment. Spoiler: it wasn’t. That money has simply disappeared into the void. I’ll be proceeding with a formal complaint to NHS England, not that I expect much to change. But perhaps it’s time someone held them accountable. Avoid if you value your time, your money, or even just the bare minimum of respect. Can I just say that the reply from management below is not acurate and very unprofessional I attended to the appointment on time and you made me wait for 30 minutes. Do not lie. This has been passed to CQC

Fantastic experience: I've had to attend the practice for what I thought would've been a long, arduous and painful experience as the work that was needed required more than a couple of visits. My dentist's professionalism. Care and understanding made this experience the very opposite of what I first anticipated. Negative experience: I didn't have to deal with such ugly behavior like what I have today in Smithdown branch, specially from receptionist Lorraine , she should not be a receptionist , loud voice, none sense speech, try to show dominance with no idea what is going up , I asked to see the manager but he or she is busy all the day in back to back surgery as they said, as if he is in field hospital dealing with war injuries. I got their reply down, I believe I dealt with respect and you have your cameras, but it is the same excuse that you are always right I'm a doctor in NHS and know how to deal with such things, and I will do

Negative experience: Been with this dentist for over 30 years. A few weeks ago I tried ringing with no answer and emailing with no answer so unfortunately missed my appointment. When I finally got in touch to arrange a new appointment, they replied saying my registration had been terminated due to the missed appointment and said that I had rearranged my previous appointment but it was them who rearranged due to a dentist leaving the practise. I emailed back explaining the situation but was ignored again. For the past few years this dentist has been extremely unprofessional. The receptionist was once on the phone to her mum for about 30 minutes to her mum talking about what she wanted for dinner and the dental nurse walks around moaning about how she wants to go home.

Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend this dentist. I recieved a reminder of my appointment date and time. At my appointment the receptionist/admin was friendly. The waiting area was very clean. The dentist explained everything about my treatment and after care.

Fantastic experience: Had to return for treatment and i was very pleased with the outcome. All the staff could not be more helpful even under the difficulties they are working under. Patients having to stand in the street while waiting for appointments is totally ridiculous yet out of the staffs hands, some idiot jobsworth in the health department, ludicrous when 20yards away we can sit in a public house without restrictions. Obviously this review was from a while ago I have since been back a few times including today 20th March 2025 for a tooth extraction and everything and everyone where very professional. I have never had a bad experience at this dentist. Having an extraction is always a worry but this was a very good experience Thanks to all involved.

Fantastic experience: As a first visit at this NHS dental practice I was pleasantly surprised how friendly everyone was, from the terrific receptionist to the dentist and supporting staff. My concerns were listened to and I was put at ease. The premises may need a bit of loving attention but everything flowed smoothly from registration, being called in via a screen display, being seen and follow-up arrangements made. Very happy with this practice for my first visit. Update January 2025: Just had my second review and again a fantastic caring service. A big thank you to all the staff.

Fantastic experience: Yesterday, I had an appointment for the removal of a molar tooth. I was really scared about the procedure. In the two days leading up to the appointment, just thinking about the tooth extraction made my heart rate jump from 78 bpm to 124 bpm. I was incredibly nervous and stressed about the procedure. The reason for my fear was a terrible experience I had six years ago at another clinic. During that extraction, the dentist struggled to remove my tooth with forceps. It felt as though she was pulling on my entire jaw. The amount of pressure I felt on my jaw was unbearable, and when she failed to extract the tooth, she damaged my gum to remove it. That traumatic extraction left me in pain for four months because my gum didn’t heal properly. With that memory in mind, I was extremely anxious about yesterday’s extraction. However, I am beyond impressed with the team at Lovesmile Smithdown. I didn’t even realize when they removed my tooth! I was sitting in the chair, waiting for the extraction to begin, and when I glanced at the tray, the tooth was already out. Everyone told me that extractions are not painful and that I might feel a pressure. I was terrified of that pressure, but to my surprise, I didn’t feel any discomfort or pressure at all during the procedure. Thank you, Lovesmile Smithdown team, for such a great and painless treatment!

We had an appointment today 12:00pm. 18.11.2024,for my wife and arrived before 10 munits then still waiting 12:50pm after all that waiting I asked the reception wasn't car about long times with my son 8 months was Tired and crying then that person work in reception said don't wait long and before more one month my wife got that an appointment and not Dr and reception attention about my wife condition. ●More than this, they are indifferent and uncaring towards patients, delaying them and making them wait more than an hour, while we have an 8-month-old child with us and my wife has a toothache. I have never seen anything like this in my life.

Negative experience: Absolutely disgusting behavior from the receptionist. I have a diagnosed disability which greatly impacts cognitive abilities, making simple things difficult, and life generally hard. I see information incorrectly frequently. It really sucks. I had recently registered with these folks and no, this is not a fake review- I wish it was. Unfortunately, I had entered the wrong appointment time in my calendar while I waited months for the appointment, without knowing it- so I arrived near the end of it, when I thought I was early. I apologized to the receptionist, a young woman with a long braid, and I tried to explain my condition to her. I wanted her to know the reason for my mistake, because I felt bad. I wasn’t asking for any special treatment. She stared at her computer and kept interrupting me over and over each time I spoke, in a deadpan voice completely devoid of empathy, that I would need to remember. When I asked for a reminder call the day before a potential new appointment, she wouldn’t arrange it. Then I literally asked for her to simply listen to me as a human being, and she began using my own phrasing of words to patronize me in front of a clinic of other patients. I didn’t yell, or call anyone names. I told her I wasn’t returning. As I was headed for the door, she called after me: “That’s fine. Good bye.” No joke, this actually happened. Right now, this business might unknowingly be representing themselves in their community with a person who mocks, interrupts, and insults people with disabilities. This was my first interaction through the door. In case of a defensive response here, no, nothing justifies this. Even outside this situation, what kind of sick individual does this? She should be fired. I just couldn’t believe it- there were good reviews, that’s why I went. I’m not losing sleep over it, but I can’t forget it.

Negative experience: A rubbish dental clinic. I made several appointments. When I arrived, I was told that I had not made an appointment. They said that there was no record. They were perfunctory. They did not give me a checkup or filling. They had to make another appointment and wait four to five months before checking me again. After the checkup, It took more than half a year before I could have my teeth filled again. My teeth were also rotten. Do I still have to go to this rubbish clinic? It’s infuriating.

Negative experience: Would love to be able to give minus stars for this dentist My partner turned up today for her 4.30 appointment and was told I she had missed it as it was a 9.30 evan thought it said 4.30 on my appointment card which the receptionist agreed and now they’ve said ive been struck off for missing my appointment, rang yesterday to confirm my appointment and was told 4.30 . Told 8 weeks ago that I would need a teeth clean before dentist would even see me at a cost £70 then was told I needed a filling which I should of been getting today Will be taking this issue further , speak to you all soon

Fantastic experience: Bright, airy waiting area, polite but professional staff. Receptionists are friendly and helpful and the Dental staff are professional but not stand offish. The whole atmosphere is about making people feel welcome and at ease whilst promoting dental hygiene and treatment. Negative experience: Dental team are so good and lovely but the young girls on reception are rude, ignorant and abrupt. They need to learn customer services only 3 times I have been to this dentist and every phone call with these girls is disgusting.

Negative experience: Go somewhere else! Extortionate prices! Cheaper treatment elsewhere! Don't be ripped off by this dentist. I've just had a tooth removed because I was told root canal treatment there would cost me £1895.00! Found out after I had my tooth extracted that other dental practices charge from £400 to £700. I'm now in agony too as the dentist has left the root in because he couldn't get it out and has referred me to a specialist which will probably cost a fortune! AVOID This place!

Negative experience: Last time I was there there was a flood that came down from the ceiling and had to be moved to another room. Recently tried to book an appointment and was told i had been taken off books as I missed an appointment I knew nothing about. I will be glad to join a new dentist to be honest. Do not recommend.

Positive experience: It's a good surgery overall but I took my little girl for a routine check up and the Indian receptionist was asking me what kind of benefit my daughter was claiming is she on universal credit or something to put on exemption form she asked me twice and I had to explain to her in detail that she's a child and children in this country receive free dental treatment. And then the other girl on reception who was on the phone told her that she is just a child and children are exempt, please educate the staff properly before they start working for your surgery.
