Negative experience: I was referred here by 111 due to an infected tooth that needed extracting—I was in severe pain and urgently needed treatment. After driving 17 miles, I was disappointed to be told exactly what I already knew. Rather than carrying out the extraction, the dentist simply prescribed antibiotics and advised me to see my regular dentist. In the end, I had to pay £350 for a private dentist to resolve the issue. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had with an NHS dental service. There was a clear lack of urgency and no sense of duty of care. Update I received a reply from the dental practice asking me to get in touch, so I emailed them straight away. However, I never received a response, so it seems nothing has changed.

Fantastic experience: Tom & Suzanne have been amazing in dealing with 4 teeth extractions for an 11 year old in readiness for braces. So calm and reassuring. Great dental care. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend this dentist , Dr. Hamid and the lovely nurse Carrie in particular who have finally made my mouth healthy again after years of horrendous teeth and pain. Numerous appointments later, I can now smile again with confidence. Nothing was to much for them and after having a phobia of dentists, I felt relieved to be in a dentists chair that really knows what he is doing and trusted him 100%. And l dont know how to express my thanks to Amanda and her lovely dental nurse for all the care , reassurance and kindness while ensuring l received the best replacement dentures, l was extremely nervous about the outcome , what would happen if l didnt like them , what happens if they didnt fit well . Amanda assured me she would do her very best to make sure they were perfect , and perfect they are , not only did l get beautiful dentures, but lve got my smile back and a new found confidence. Fantastic experience: I can always get through on the phone and the wait times are not unreasonable. Fairly priced and my dentist Thomas is great, talks you through what he is doing and does a good job, would recommend.

Fantastic experience: I was in horrendous pain and I was able to get an early appointment. The dentist was so kind and so patient with me. She explained everything to me So well and she was so gentle with me. She ended up doing an extraction which was very scary but she was so kind and made sure I was comfortable. I have had an extraction before and this and it was so much worse. I could not speak highly enough about this dentist and my experience there! 10/10

Negative experience: My partner went for a general check up (in email it specifies that a clean and xray is included). Arrives at the appointment and is charged £27 before going in. The dentist looks in his mouth and says "you'll probably need a root canal, come back next week for the xray and clean" and sends him on his way. So paid over £27 for someone to look in his mouth. Went the week later and they ran behind 20 minutes then paid another £27 for him to xray and confirm root canal, says to come back when it starts to hurt and only cleans his three bottom front teeth? £54 for someone to clean 3 teeth. Very disappointed. Both appointments were incredibly rushed.

Negative experience: Very disappointing. I was booked in here by NHS111 after my tooth snapped. I'm severely phobic of the dentist due to an extreme gag reflex caused by a traumatic experience at the dentist as a child involving having an impression taken. I was very upset and started crying, the dentist asked what I was so upset over and just said he wouldn't be doing any impression today, and the nurse didn't say one single word to me the entire appointment, just handed me a tissue. The dentist had zero bedside manners and was very dismissive. I started gipping before he'd even gone near my mouth and neither of them were reassuring or helped to calm me down. He looked at the tooth and said it needed to come out but that he couldn't do it due to my gagging and the fact I wouldn't be able to tolerate an x-ray. C onsidering most dentists have the contactless x-ray machines I found that odd. He said I need to find another dentist to refer me for NHS sedation but wouldn't do it himself. I admit I'm the one with the problem, and I'm not the easiest patient to deal with due to my issue but in the past other dentists where I used to live have been able to calm me down enough to have treatment, not make me worse. This was hands down the most unsympathetic dismissive dentist I've ever come across in my life. Apparently he's only there one day a week which is one day too many in my opinion. I really wish I'd been allocated one of the other dentists because they all sound lovely according to the reviews.

Negative experience: Came here on a 111 emergency appointment for infected gum around a partially erupted wisdom tooth, pain and facial swelling. 111 said the tooth would need cleaning out around the infection and that I should ask for a refferal for wisdom tooth extraction due to reoccurring periocoronitis - this is something ive had before and was treated exactly as 111 said in a previous appointment in york.instead at this appointment i was rushed through and after being seen for literally about 2 minutes, the dentist prescribed antibiotics and refused to clean the infected gum when I asked if we could. He talked to me abruptly, dismissively and patronisingly and said that there is no point cleaning the infection as it would only move stuff around. Pericoronitis is caused by food debris and bacteria being trapped under the gum flap but he acted like this was a stupid thing for me to say and said it hurts because it's swolen not because there is anything trapped. As recommended by 111 I asked about refferal for tooth extraction and he just abruptly said 'no there's no justification for that'. Really rude, really unpleasant and the whole experience gave the impression that they can't be bothered with nhs patients. Left in pain and in tears having travelled all the way from york on public transport and having to take a day off work. Wouldn't trust this dentist with my teeth and feel concerned about even taking the course of antibiotics as this dentist is so blatantly uncaring I don't feel I can trust any treatment offered. From this experience and other reviews I genuinely think this clinic should be under investigation.

Fantastic experience: Went today for deep cleaning am a very nervous patient has unfortunately school dentists where not the best years ago its hard to forget a bad experience Dr Hassnain was amazing with me put me at Ease straight away no pain was very caring took his time to be honest the best dental i have been to no hesitation about going back thank you !

Negative experience: Terrible experience. Phoned to book my two sons in for a check up and really disappointed in how I’ve been treated and spoken to. Been taken off their books - with no notice. Guessing as we’re nhs patients they’ve made space for private patients. Don’t expect a professional service from the admin side here! It is a shame as the dentist Dr Pearson was lovely to myself & two young sons.

Fantastic experience: I have been to this practice for a few years now and I was dreading coming today because the dentist that I usually had really hurt me when descaling my teeth. The you Asian dentist today (I can't remember her name) was really gentle and really nice to talk to. I will come next time and not dread it. The same goes for my husband

Fantastic experience: I really really struggle to visit the dentist, it’s been a fear for as long as I can remember so changing dentist is a huge event for me. I’ve joined HDC and had two appointments with Sanaa. Both times she has been very understanding with me, had put up with a large amount of questions and reassured me. I really love that she explained what I’d experience throughout the treatment and at the end she brought her chair around, sat and faced me and talked about what she had done and what each part meant. It seems like such a small thing but she showed real compassion and it’s helps more than she probably realised. The dental nurse working with her was very friendly, reassuring and complimented me when I walked into the room, again, tiny things but they go a long way to putting someone at ease. Positive experience: Could not fault the experience except asking my autistic daughter a question when I had written on the medical form not to. Also she doesn't have Easter holidays as she has given up school although you wouldn't have known that

Fantastic experience: Sanaa is a wonderful dentist. Highly professional and competent. She takes time to explain procedures and answers questions thoroughly. In addition, I have never been to a dental surgery where I find myself laughing so much with the fantastic team.

Fantastic experience: Had a great appointment with Sanaa Arif at Harrogate Dental Care. My son felt so comfortable and listened too at his appointment. He found her attitude to be alot better and kinder than our pervious dentist. Quick to be seen, polite and friendly.

Negative experience: My 75 year old dad went here as an NHS patient for his annual check up where he was referred to The Raglan Suite, a lovely expensive cosmetic dentist, where an appointment alone is £195.00! My parents are pensioners, they can't afford these prices. My dad isn't interested in the 'perfect smile' he just wants maintenance and an annual check up. When my mum questioned the referral with the dental nurse she was rude and dismissive. The NHS was set up to help people, not to become a pimping service for cosmetic dentistry. Needless to say my parents will NOT be returning to this practice. For all other NHS patients be on your guard!

Fantastic experience: I was referred to the practice through 111 and after not going to a dentist since I was a child I really can't express how fantastic my experience has been. The reception staff are attentive and quick to find the answers to any questions you may have. I had Dr Thomas doing the work I needed and he was just amazing, he was professional and his dental assistants were all amazing, they talked me through what was going to happen in the appointments aswell as going forward. He removed 3 teeth, did 5 fillings aswell as a cleaning over the course of 3 or 4 months. I asked about cosmetic dentistry to try and cover up the gaps that were left and he gave me a list of options quickly and made the whole process a breeze by booking the next appointments quickly, with flexible times and easy to organise around my work schedule. I feel like I'm ready to go into my adult life with a refresher of my dental health. I truly cannot thank all of the staff at HDC, especially Dr Thomas, enough for the newfound confidence I have and the relief they've brought me. I would recommend this practice to anyone who needs any sort of dental work doing.

I have gained confidence again in my smile and feel both my teeth and gums are much healthier……. With not a huge fan of visiting the dentist I can say that by far Senaa is one of the best I’ve had treatment from and her kindness and care from both her and her team is something I’m very grateful of having treatment with. Having recently switched from a dentist in Knaresborough, I can confidently say that choosing Harrogate Dental care was a decision I don't regret. His approach to dentistry is refreshingly patient-centered, taking the time to explain procedures and address any concerns.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr Sanaa today at Harrogate Dental Care for the second time. Sanaa has a fantastic communication style, putting patients at ease and explaining things in a way that was simple and clear without being patronising. Unlike many dentists I've seen recently she wasn't rushing through the appointment but took time to give eye contact and smile as she was explaining where we were at last time, what was going to happen today and what would happen next. She asked if I had any questions or concerns and responded to them. Overall, my impression was that Dr Sanaa is an excellent dentist and next time I will specifically request an appointment with her. Negative experience: Was referred here via 111 through emergency dentists. Extremely sore tooth and inflamed. To be patronised and to be told to 'use mouthwash' when I already use mouthwash alongside a good cleaning routine. He cleaned my tooth and sent me on my way and refused to remove my tooth even though he said it does need removing and should of been removed years ago. I didn't feel comfortable at all behind extremely nervous when it comes to appointments etc as I have severe anxiety and this particular dentist did not make me feel at ease with the sarcastic and patronising comments which were made. Only giving 2 stars as the receptionist was lovely.

Negative experience: Finally found an NHS dentist, my little girls got a sickness bug and I called to cancel and rearrange. To be told they need to go back on the NHS waiting list. This highlights to me they are not patient focused and only interested in the UDAs.

Fantastic experience: Noor is a wonderful dentist, I am normally quite anxious in the chair, but Noor has a very calming, reassuring nature and explains things clearly.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to the lovely receptionists who were accommodating and got my in quickly for a review! Super speedy to get through on the phone and I had NO wait time in the practice itself - my dentist and dental nurse were so kind, caring and lovely. Explained everything (and held my hand!). Within 20 minutes I was in, had my exam, an impromptu filling and back out. It was really kind of my dentist and nurse to do the filling on the same day to accommodate some changes in my living situation. Great attitude and great care thank you all xx

Fantastic experience: I had to have a root canal treatment and 2 extractions in the last year due to impacted wisdom teeth. From diagnosis to treatment the team at Harrogate Dental Practice were fantastic. The team who answer the phones and book appointments are always accommodating and extremely well mannered. The dentist and dental assistant were amazing: from their professionalism and clear communication, to checking I was OK as the treatment progressed. Now I’m back to just having check-ups, I have been impressed by the automated appointment booking service where it is easy to see what is available and book the best time for me around any work commitments. Fantastic experience: Always a positive experience with dentist Caroline. A friendly greeting and genuine smile puts you at ease from the get-go. Each stage of the procedure was fully explained and options offered with reassurance given when necessary. There was great teamwork with Joyce, her dental assistant, and all procedures were carried out efficiently without waiting. Caroline did not hesitate to offer advice regarding jaw issues (which I mentioned at the end of treatment) and had to hand a patient information leaflet which she gave to me with exercises to carry out. Very helpful. This practice has evolved and it is great to see the same dentist on each visit with whom you can build a rapport. Going to the dentist can be stressful for me but I can honestly say that Caroline certainly helps this to dissipate once in the chair. I can highly recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Very happy with my treatment, both dental and caring. I am very apprehensive of any dental treatment, but was treated with great respect, consideration and skill.

Fantastic experience: I had a troublesome and awkward broken tooth that needed removing. Matty and Noor were lovely and helped me to relax. The root was really difficult to get out so Noor had a good workout removing it. I was expecting a lot of pain after the anaesthetic wore off but I’ve had very little. Thank you Noor and Matty.

Fantastic experience: I really can't speak highly enough of my excellent experience in the hands of this Dental practice. After a period of being "out in the wilderness" following a house move, I obviously needed to catch up on 2 years of dental neglect and I was referred to Harrogate Dental Care who advised I needed several extractions. The first consultation was with a female dentist who was friendly and understanding but the first extraction was carried out by her male colleague and I was a little apprehensive. I needn't have worried because it was over in no time at all, and with virtually no pain, and the 2nd extraction was carried out with the same efficiency. The reception staff and the very pleasant Dental Assistant were just as good. Top marks from a very happy, and no longer apprehensive customer!

Fantastic experience: My experience at the dentist has been a night mare in the past I have a bit of a phobia of dentists but the reception crew at this dentist do a wonderful job calming me down and making the experience as pleasant as possible.

Professional, friendly and explains things thoroughly, also had a pain free local anaesthetic! Outstanding! His lovely nurse Suzanne is always a lot of fun! I cannot fault this great team.

Negative experience: I spent more time in the waiting room than with the actual dentist. The reception staff were polite, but the dentist was dismissive and seemed uninterested. I was there for only 5 minutes, and he claimed there was nothing wrong, but I'm still in pain and half of my mouth is swollen, I can't eat any food due to the pain. His assistant, on the other hand, was nice and polite. I'm choosing not to name names out of discretion. I was referred by 111, I visited today (1st of August 2024).

Fantastic experience: Within 36 hours of loosing a filling I had an appointment with Tom. Had to take my two young children with me. Tom and the dental nurse were so good with my children while also being so professional. Tom spoke me through everything. For someone who is very nervous about going to dentist especially when needing treatment that involves an injection he put me at ease. Thank you so much. Fantastic experience: Caroline and her nursing team were amazing today. I was a last minute appointment with having toothache and was told it wouldn't be my usual dentist as she was full. When I walked in and saw Caroline and her nurses I was relieved. Caroline is a wonderful dentist, professional and compassionate. Thank you for swapping things around today. Thank you ladies for always making both me and my children feel at ease. A Big thank you for entertaining my nervous waffling and tears today, and for taking my tooth out of course. You all do an amazing job. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I was sent here today by 111, I was so scared, I have severe anxiety, the reception were lovely and welcoming and the gentleman dentist I saw, wow, he was so caring and genuine of my anxiety. He went above and beyond to help me, thank you so much. I'd recommend this dentist practice just wish they were accepting new NHS patients so I could join x

Fantastic experience: My toddler came for her second dentist appointment. The Dentist and nurse made her so welcome and relaxed and of course the sticker at the end was the highlight of the day.
