Beckenham Dental Centre: Reviews
Fantastic experience: The reception greeting is excellent and their service is very friendly and efficient. I have always been happy with the dentists there and would well recommend this practice as I have done several times.
Hi Gil. Thank you for taking the time to leave this lovely feedback. Always means a lot to the team.
See you soon.

Fantastic experience: Fantasy service. Prompt diagnosis and treatment. Friendly professional staff. Thank you very much
Thank you George for this amazing feedback. The staff really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience: I went to Beckenham Dental Centre with an emergency and a bit stressed out if I will be able to have it fixed before my AL. Luckily the reception team was very accommodating and managed to find me a slot very promptly. Dr Swati was very kind, knowledge and professional and sorted my issue in no time. Highly recommended!
Dear KB
Thank you for taking the time to leave your review. Dr Swati and the reception team are so pleased they could help that day.
We look forward to seeing you again.
Best wishes

Negative experience: UPDATE: Following the practice’s response, I want to clarify that I have not left the practice, and that was never my intention. My review was written in good faith to reflect a genuine concern — namely, the lack of communication around the expiry of a treatment plan, which the practice has since confirmed. I’ve raised these concerns calmly and constructively in the hope of encouraging more thoughtful patient care. Original review below: I’ve been a patient at this practice for many years, but my recent experience left me deeply disappointed — both emotionally and financially. I was given a treatment plan for a tooth extraction and told the consultation fee would be deducted from the cost. Less than four months later, I returned for the procedure and was told the plan had “expired,” meaning I had to repay in full — losing around £27 through no fault of my own. To some, that might not seem like a large amount, but I shouldn’t have had to pay it at all if I’d simply been informed of the deadline. I had already expressed that I was an anxious patient, but the first thing the dentist said to me, on the day of the extraction, was about the unexpected cost. It immediately heightened my anxiety and made the whole appointment much harder to manage. When I raised this, the practice manager confirmed that reception had not communicated any time limit. Despite that, there was no attempt to resolve the issue — just a defensive response and the suggestion that I “go elsewhere” if I wasn’t happy, despite knowing how few NHS dental options there are. It wasn’t just poor communication — it was the complete lack of empathy and accountability that made this experience so upsetting. I hope future patients are treated with more care and respect.
Dear JH
We are saddened to read that you still are dissatisfied with the above.
We do our very best to enable all our patients to receive the treatment they need and we struggle to provide this care through the NHS.
However under the NHS system, the NHS will not honour a treatment claim submitted over 2 months after the last treatment date, and as we had already contacted you to book this to no avail, we had no option but to close the course of treatment.
Furthermore it is a duty for the dentist to make the patient aware of those charges.
Notwithstanding the above, we are sorry that you feel we were unable to meet your expectations. We are just not able to alter our NHS contract in order to resolve your issue.
We certainly didn’t want to lose you as a patient and did give you options to see your dentist or a different one when they became available. This certainly was not, as you mentioned a refusal and ‘to go elsewhere.’
We wish you the very best.
Kind regards

Fantastic experience: My front crown fell out ( rubbish teeth does this every 2 years) my Phenomenal dentist DW and his assistant plus amazing reception staff stayed late tonight (Friday) to fit this crown back. There are no words that can describe this level of service except beyond excellent. Thank you!
Thank you Janet for your wonderful feedback. We really appreciate you taking the time and so pleased you are happy with our service.
Fantastic experience: I phoned Beckenham dental centre on Sunday morning as I was in extreme pain from two teeth being extracted fom another dentist on the previous Wednesday. I was amazed I could be seen. The receptionist was very understanding, I had to wait a little but only about 15mins. I'm grateful I was seen at all. I think the dentist I saw was Dean, very pleasant and explained everything to me. He did an exam and took an xray of the extraction. He diagnosed dry sockets, washed them out and packed them, gave me the correct course of tablets. I'm an extremely nervous patient and loathe going to the Dentist, he completely put me at ease. I was even more flabbergasted at how reasonable the cost was, I was expecting to pay quite a lot and it was about a third of what I thought it would be. I would like to thank all the staff that dealt with me on Sunday 22nd June and would certainly recommend this Dental centre.
Dear Karon
Wonderful to hear your kind words and so pleased that we could get you out of pain.
Best wishes.

Fantastic experience: I was in a lot of pain with my wisdom tooth and honestly dreading the whole thing, but the team here made it such a smooth experience. The reception staff were lovely — really caring and quick to get me booked in, which I appreciated so much. Carl, the dentist, was absolutely brilliant. It was a tricky extraction, but he handled it with so much care and skill, and really put me at ease. Yuki, his nurse, was just as great — calm, professional, and really attentive the whole time. I felt really looked after from start to finish. Can’t thank them enough.
Hi Zoe.
The team are delighted to hear your feedback and so pleased you felt your treatment and care was so positive.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
Best wishes

Negative experience: not great for children! They only do children's appointments between 3 - 4pm on week days. I explained that my son doesn't finish school until 3.50 so there is no way we can get to the dentist in time - no exceptions made! What is the point of offering free check-ups for children if you force children to miss school to attend. Not suitable for children over 5 years of age!
Hi there.
We are extremely dedicated in continuing with our NHS contract, despite the current dental climate.
With the limited funding we are allocated-we prioritise children and emergencies, by offering a daily slot for both these categories in addition to other times throughout the day. This supports the majority of our patients.
Our receptionist did recommend an alternative appointment in the school holidays, where the practice makes extra allowances for children’s appointments, however you declined this offer.

Fantastic experience: My experience at beckenham dental practice today 6/4/2025 was exceptional.I cannot thank the staff enough.firstly Janice on the reception desk was friendly and very helpfull. My dentist Alex Sayer was extremely professional and explained everything she was doing to treat my problem and what my next steps were.fantastic dental practice.
Hi John. Thank you for your wonderful words. The team are thrilled to hear and glad we could help you on Sunday.
We look forward to seeing you soon.

Negative experience: If you value your teeth, do not book an appointment with a "dentist" here called Keong Cheuk Tang. I went in to have a crown fitted and he was unable to fit the crown after 4 visits, however more seriously each time he filed down my tooth to try to make the crown fit. I've been put in the situation now where that tooth has to be extracted and I also have to have an implant which will cost thousands. When I emailed the practice, he was deemed the most experienced in the area of crowns according to the receptionist which couldn't be further from the truth. Unfortunately I'm not going to risk another dentist in the practice as I value my teeth. If I could put less than 1 star I would. Hopefully this will help someone with their choices (and to go to another dental practice instead).
Dear Mr Ward
We are very sorry to hear this. Unfortunately, we can’t comment on what may have happened in the six years since your last visit or discuss the previous condition of your tooth at the time on a public forum.
We do wish you the very best.
The BDC Team
Fantastic experience: Needed an emergency appointment for an infected tooth. Spoke to Janice who advised that there were no appointments but would get a dentist to call me as soon as possible. To my surprise the dentist called in less than half an hour and prescribed medication and advice to deal with the issue. I was very impressed with the service received. Janice was very professional, courteous and empathic and went over and beyond what I was expecting as she was working on her own at the reception. I am very pleased with the service I received today especially considering the horror stories you read about people's experiences at their dental practice. If ever you are looking for a practice i highly recommend Beckenham Dental Practice. 5 star service every time.
Fantastic to hear such great feedback! So pleased we could help Karen and look forward to seeing you soon.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic and super helpful! I phoned on Saturday morning trying to get an emergency appointment for my chipped tooth and was immediately booked in. Thank you Janice and Katerina for being so lovely and looking after me. And Lena did a brilliant job on repairing my tooth ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Hi Eliza. Thank you for your kind comments. The team work very hard and always means a lot to hear the lovely feedback.
We hope to see you again!
Fantastic experience: A great practice. Like a spa when you walk in. Any nervousness quickly disappears. Receptionists are super friendly. Ann the Hygienist puts you at your ease.
Thank you Ria for your review. We’re so glad the team could put you at ease and make your visit pleasurable. We look forward to seeing you again.
Negative experience: Sadly my experience was disappointing. The hygienist was very rough and my gums were sore afterwards. (Can't remember the name of the person). The dentist, Hania Alhussami, was quite pleasant, but left me with a very rough filling too (not smoothly finished) which fell out around 6 months later. For this poor work I had to wait several months as I was a new patient. Obviously, I will not return.
Dear Jane.
We were very sorry to read this review.
We don’t have any record of you on our system, which is odd and makes it difficult to respond to. It’s surprising that you mentioned the wait to get an appointment was months, which certainly isn’t the case for any new private patient. We also have emergency slots daily for things such as lost fillings.
Yes, sometimes a clean can be a bit uncomfortable and sore afterwards, especially if there’s some inflammation in the gums or you haven’t been for a while. To carry out a thorough and effective clean, it can be the case, but necessary to achieve optimum oral health.
It is such a shame you did not address us directly, most of all to allow your dentist an opportunity to rectify any issues (which would have been free of charge, rather than paying again elsewhere) and give you some post operative advice after the hygienist visit if necessary.
We are only able to help if we know where things have gone wrong.
We wish you all the best and if you would like to discuss this further please email:

Fantastic experience: Janice and Supritha were brilliant at getting me seen quickly after an emergency dental situation. I rang on a Sunday morning and was seen within 2 hours. A very reasonable price for such short notice too. Thank you - it was a life saver and a really good job was done! I was so relieved!
Hi Amy. We’re so pleased we could get you out of trouble and appreciate your feedback. We hope to see you again soon. Best wishes The BDC Team.
Fantastic experience: Excellent practice. All amazing people from receptionists to dentists. Both Carl and Mr Tang have been incredible dentists and I am very grateful to them.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments- absolutely wonderful for the team to hear!
Negative experience: This Buckingham dentist very very bed service do never go this place. Take your money and make you to come every time .
Hi Erdal.
Your review is for the wrong dental practice.
Negative experience: Rude woman on reception eye rolled me when i was talking. Changed dental practice.
Hi there. We’re disappointed to receive this feedback.
I have to say it’s very much out of character for our reception team and we have little information to go on.
It is very important to us, that if things go wrong we have a chance to investigate and resolve the issue-this ultimately provides a beneficial outcome for all . If mistakes are made our end, then we get a chance to reflect and learn from them.
It would be helpful if you could contact the practice manager on 0208 650 1209 so we can understand fully what has happened and hopefully come to a more favourable solution.
Best wishes

Fantastic experience: Fantastic hygiene treatment with Maksuda and her colleague assisting too - it was the best hygienist I’ve ever had - I had an amazing clean which was very effective but also pain free. She was warm, friendly, considerate and respectful.
This is lovely feedback, Maksuda and her nurse were thrilled to hear!
Fantastic experience: Can’t speak highly enough of this dentist. I’ve been going since 2017 and they’ve always made sure my teeth are in great shape. Dentist Hania and her colleague were amazing with my two-year-old son when he had his check up. Highly recommend.
Hi Helen. This is so lovely to hear. Hania and the team really appreciate your kind words.
Fantastic experience: I just wanted to say a huge thank you to the dentist Nick Patsias. After not visiting a dentist in over 15 years due to extreme fear I developed an infected wisdom tooth, the pain was so bad I had no choice but to get it seen to. I contacted Beckenham dental who fitted me on a Sunday morning which was fantastic as it meant not taking time off work. My anxiety was through the roof but Mr Patsias was excellent, he has a great sense of humour, as was his assistant who held my hand throughout. The 2 small injections to numb the area I didn't even know had been done and the tooth was out within seconds. Mr Patsias explained the importance of looking after your teeth and I am pleased to say I have my next appointment booked in May. Whilst I will always be a nervous patient, Mr Patsias has certainly helped me overcome my fear and made me realise regular visits to the dentist is very important. Thank you
Hi Nicola. Nick Patsias and the team were so pleased to hear this and great that your visit with us was a step forward in overcoming your fears.
We look forward to seeing you again in May!

Negative experience: I’ve been reading through the comments with interest and I just thought I would add my own comment for the benefit of those considering to use this practice. I had an Emergency – agonising toothache. My regular dentist was not available last Saturday to see me so I booked an emergency appointment as a new patient at this practice and I was seen by Swati Gupta. What concerns me most of all now is that I have viewed the team on their very own official website –only to find that she isn’t even included – now just how concerning can that be?! I was told just to take painkillers and it should settle down. No “tapping tests” were carried out to see whether there was any pain on any of the teeth, despite my comments about raging toothache. However, days later it still hadn't settled down and I was still in agony. I was then able to see my own regular dentist at another practice and he found the problem in less than a minute. He said he could clearly see a crack and then it turned out to be infected. It was a major infection requiring root canal treatment. This was clearly extremely serious and required extensive work to fix the problem. My regular dentist happens to be one of the most professional and experienced in the country. I am very fortunate in that respect, and I can really appreciate it even more so now following such a disappointing experience at Beckenham Dental Centre. Need I say any more other than I wouldn’t recommend using them... ever… for anything. Unlike others, my fee was not waived, even though she claimed to have found "nothing wrong"...
Dear Mr Kay
We are sorry you do not feel well served by your emergency appointment.
Cracks are notoriously difficult to diagnose as I’m sure your own dentist will have told you, and can go from being ‘invisible’ to the eye to being clearly visible in a matter of hours.
As it would be a breach of your confidentiality to go into your clinical details on a public forum we have contacted you privately to share the findings of assessing your clinical records and speaking to the clinician.
Thankyou for drawing our attention to adding our dentist to the website, Swati has recently joined us and has swiftly developed a reputation for being a thorough and caring dentist. She is deeply saddened that she was unable to help you sufficiently and glad to hear that your own dentist was able to resolve your pain so quickly.
All the best

Fantastic experience: Dean is an amazing dentist. He's gentle and caring, and he's been taking care of my daughter and me for over 10 years. The dental nurse is always polite and pleasant, creating a lovely atmosphere.
Hi Silver.
Thank you for this purrfect review!!! Dean and the team always appreciate the feedback.
Fantastic experience: I had an emergency with a tongue injury, after being turned away from A & E walk in centre, Beckenham Dental Center were able to fit me in at 9am the following morning. Katerina was great to deal with and my mind was put at rest by the oral surgeon, they even waved the £50 fee as no action was required. Huge thanks for the entire team.
Positive experience: My dentist of choice is definitely Dr Khalid Ali and her dental assistant. I am typically a nervous patient however coming to Dr Ali over the years has allayed my fears! If you are nervous patient and in need of hand holding then Dr Ali is your go to. Would of given 5 stars but for the poor customer service from reception... they are really miserable and they are not having treatment!!!
Dear Ketura
We are so pleased Dr Ali and her nurse could ease your fears and put your mind at rest. It’s lovely to hear.
Sorry you found the receptionist ‘miserable’ -you must have caught them at a busy moment, as they would be disappointed to hear this.
Fantastic experience: Carl Oliveiras is a 5 star dentist. I attended as an emergency due to a molar splitting in half and being in pain. As always ...he took his time ...making sure I was tolerating the intervention and then topping up the lycacane accordingly. Hardly any pain post intervention and healing speedily. Cannot praise this dentist more. He is a ideal dentist for the dental phobic and the highly anxious patient.
Hi Carol. Thank you for your wonderful review. Dr Carl and the team are thrilled to hear such lovely feedback.
Fantastic experience: i recently visited the beckenham dental centre, only because i had no choice.i have had in the past several bad experiences . beckenham dental centre were reccomended. so i booked an emergency appointment. i cant speak highly enough the reception staff are very welcoming and calming and my dentist Mr Tang was absolutely brilliant. i am still a nervous patient but no where near as nervous now. i strongly recommend.
Hi Mark. So pleased we could calm your nerves and make the Dentist a less daunting experience for you.
The team are delighted to hear this!
We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Fantastic experience: I can't speak highly enough of Beckenham Dental Practice, both myself and my mum (who has recently turned 90) are patients here. The reception staff are always friendly and helpful and go above and beyond to help, especially when you suddenly find that you're in need of an emergency appointment. I want to say a big thank you to Janice in particular who even offered to see my mum across the road to catch her bus after her last visit, she felt really well looked after! Thank you so much for treating my mum with such kindness and care.
Hi Anne. Thank you for you lovely, kind words. It is always wonderful for the team to hear such positive feedback.
We look forward to seeing you and your mum again!

Fantastic experience: I have always been extremely anxious about visiting the dentist, but my Dentist kalida is always sensitive and considerate, I feel reassured and informed about every stage of the process, she explains what she's doing and takes things at my pace. I would recommend this surgery, and especially kalida to anyone who has anxiety about visiting the dentist.
Hi Jean. Khalida and the team are thrilled to hear such wonderful comments.

Fantastic experience: Today I had an appointment with the hygienist, Magda. She is an awesome hygienist! She did an excellent job and gave me some really good advice!
Thank you for your feedback Nigel- Magdalena and the team really appreciate you taking the time.
Fantastic experience: Amazing service from everyone at the practice- II had a dental emergency and they couldn’t have been kinder or more helpful and got me back on my feet and smiling. THANKYOU!! From the kind and concerned receptionist, Dr Ali and her wonderful dental nurse, I was treated to the very best care indeed. No wonder they are so busy!
So pleased we could help Kiaran- thank you for the wonderful feedback!

Fantastic experience: Saw Dr Khaleda Ali today and she was absolutely amazing. Great bedside manner (particularly since I am phobic of dentists), felt safe and confident in her care.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to this dental centre for several years and have nothing but praise for Dr Carl de Oliveira. He’s a wonderful excellent dentist. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much for this fantastic feedback. Always means a lot to the team.
Positive experience: Excellent care from hygienist and dentist as always. However, I was significantly overcharged in error (a payment to my account had not been credited) and one would like to think such things were double checked
Hi Simon. We have addressed you directly on the issue and again our apologies for system failure on this occasion.
Best wishes

Fantastic experience: Excellent experience with Khalida for a tooth extraction. Friendly receptionists too.
Thank you Alastair for the positive review, the team appreciates you taking the time.
Negative experience: I called 4 times today from 09.00 - 11.00 got a message saying the person you are calling cannot take your call as I was then on my way to work driving I couldn't request a call back as was unable to use my phone so I called once at work and left a message saying I had pain and been there many years ago and would like to book left my number as of 9pm tonight there is no response .I think this is appalling are they open or not apparently they are according to their message but clearly an in pain patient is of no interest to them. I am appalled and have gone elsewhere where I spoke to be a caring receptionist on the first call and will be seen tomorrow. Thanks for nothing Beckenham Dental surgery .
Dear Ms Fletcher, Whilst we feel very sorry that this has happened to you, we have checked and rechecked our answerphone messages but can find no message from you. However, having followed this up with the telephone system operator they did affirm that there was an issue with the answerphone not turning on when the lines were all busy. They have now rectified this and we thank you for bringing it to our attention. We are glad to hear that you have had your issue attended to. Best wishes, The BDC Team
Fantastic experience: Very happy with the service I received today with Hania the dentist and Hayley (I think that’s her name). I was really nervous and they helped to calm me which made things so much better. They were both really kind and professional, along with the receptionist. The filling looks great, can’t even notice it. Thank you. Lisa Good
Negative experience: I needed an emergency dentist and was glad I could be seen the same day, on a Sunday, and was given antibiotics. Unfortunately I did get worse… The affected side of my face swelled up and the pain was indescribable, but was told there was nothing they could do when I asked for further treatment or pain relief. I was visibly upset and expressed my concerns to the dentist there: I had only just started a new job and now had to take sick leave, and my baby was sick too and the pain prevented me from being present and attentive. In all, I think I could have been given more antibiotics or some form of pain relief. I was offered an appointment for an extraction two weeks later! What use is that? I will not be going back.
Dear Elizabeth, We fully sympathise with your situation and the discomfort you were experiencing. However, the team have done everything clinically and practically necessary to try and help. Our aims in a case such as yours are to ensure that you are not at risk from complications of any infection spreading, thus reducing the chance that you would become seriously ill, as well as to relieve acute pain. Even though you are not a patient of the practice, we managed to see and treat you on a Sunday, then again fitted you in as an emergency first thing the following day (free of charge). I can’t go into clinical detail, but can touch on the factors you have mentioned: The reasons why further treatment couldn’t be carried out until the antibiotics had a chance to work have been well documented and explained to you, ‘giving you more’ would have been superfluous and directly contrary to current antibiotic prescribing guidance in this country. Analgesics were recommended and clear instruction of what you needed to do and why were outlined. On review, we feel utmost care and attention was given and appropriate treatment was carried out- although we appreciate that sometimes it may not feel like that, when you are in pain. We do hope the situation is resolved and wish you the best. The Beckenham Dental Centre Team.
Fantastic experience: My dental implant is now complete and I’m absolutely thrilled with the result. Thank you Dr Ali and Shari for your expertise.
Thank you so much Judy for your positive feedback!
Best wishes

Fantastic experience: Hats off to Katarina for making it possible for me to see Dr.Witter as an emergency patient. Also, a big toothy grin to the dashing Dr himself for doing such a terrific job looking after my pearly whites. Thank you both for your kindness and concern. 11/10
The team are delighted to hear your lovely comments Annabelle- so pleased we could help you out!
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. A dentist of the highest quality. I will be back for sure next time I need treatment.
Thank you so much for your amazing feedback!
Negative experience: Booked the appointment for Friday 4pm. Got no confirmation email or sms. Arrived on Friday 4pm, was told the appointment was at 12 pm, & that I had missed it. When trying to rebook, receptionist tells me that I will need to repay the deposit as the original deposit will not be refunded. Still following up on getting it refunded. Looking at the reviews, was really looking forward to the dental services, but unfortunately the administration seems unprofessional & borderline unscrupulous. Update: Day 12 - Still following up on my deposit refund, & still haven't received any evidence of the alleged booking time that I missed, & no response.
Fantastic experience: I visited Beckenham Dental Centre for the first time in a few years today having been away for some time, and it was such a positive experience. I saw both the hygienist and the dentist and both were so friendly and really put me at ease, as well as giving me really helpful, and informative advice. I felt they both really took the time to explain things to me, and it didn't feel at all rushed - and the nurses were both really friendly and helpful as well. Really felt like everyone went above and beyond. Great experience and I will definitely be going back.
Great to have you back at BDC! Thank you for your positive feedback, always means a lot to the team.
Negative experience: Worst dentist I’ve ever been ,, very rude !! I’m a new private costumer and I went to check my tooth because of toothache . First I had to wait half an hour more without any explanation , when I got in ,the dentist had a look on my tooth which was infected and looked very bad so she started being rude and telling me off for not taking care my teeth and that I should be ashamed!! Don’t even bother going there , waste of money and time !
Dear Paola Myftarai
We are sorry to read your review.
Firstly, I have spoken to your dentist and nurse who have clarified the situation.
The patient before you was an aerosol generating procedure; which means during Covid, staff are unable to leave the room until the end of the treatment, hence why you were not told of the wait. The nurse did however apologise to you.
You are also a new patient with an emergency. We endeavour to have slots for such incidents each day, we appreciate that sometimes this can result in a slight wait due to unforeseen circumstances. However, ultimately our goal is that we see these patients that day to keep people out of hospitals.
There seems to be some miscommunication; the dentist/nurse have confirmed they did not use those words - but as professionals our job is to give honest facts and advice to benefit your oral health. Not always what the patient wants to hear, but absolutely necessary to help you understand your treatment and objectives moving forward.
I understand it was uncomfortable for you- but again sometimes that can be the case short term under these circumstances. However, our goal is always to help and relieve the situation for patients and long term prevent you from being in this situation again.
If you would like to discuss your clinical situation further, as we are unable to do so on this forum-please do contact us at:
[email protected]
We wish you all the very best.

Fantastic experience: My son is three and we had an emergency visit to Beckenham Dental Centre at the weekend to check on his front teeth after an injury to his mouth. They were so good with him, checking Winston and Reindeer's 'teeth' first to put him at ease. They took their time with him, letting him play in the chair and use the mirror on his soft toys.To my amazement, he complied with having his teeth and mouth checked by Anastasia and the dental nurses. They totally put him at ease and overcame his anxiety and joyously everyone left with a sticker. If you have children, Beckenham Dental Centre will take care to ensure positive early experiences of visiting the dentist. Highly recommended for families.
Dear Lisa
Thank you very much for your kind review. We are pleased we could turn a worrying experience for you all, into something positive. Hope he has recovered well.

Fantastic experience: I have been so impressed with the care from the dentists, dental nurses and hygienists at this practice - it is without a doubt the best dental care I have received to date. I feel the staff are knowledgeable but I think the thing that sets it apart in the dental world is that I have never felt that I’m being sold a product or a procedure which with the pressures in the dental world can be quite common in other practices. This means I feel I can fully trust the opinions of the professionals. I feel the dentists have taken time to explain things properly to me and answered my questions fully. A special shout out to Dr Khalida for her kindness and genuine nature and going out of her way. Dr Carl was also lovely. The hygienist was Nathalie.
Dear Aarthi
Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. The team were delighted to read such positive feedback.
We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Fantastic experience: Received fantastic dental treatment here and Khalida was very patient with me as I was very nervous about getting mouldings for my top set of teeth. My husband has also been treated here by Khalida and must say we are very impressed.
Fantastic experience: Have been going here for years. My children see Hania who is great. I saw Vicky the hygienist who is completely lovely and for the last couple of years have been working with Khalida and her team towards implants. She has made me feel so at ease and really helped my fear of the dentist. I had a sinus lift yesterday with minimal bruising and pain. Highly recommended!
Lovely comments- that have been passed onto the team and are very much appreciated.
Thank you!
Negative experience: Horrible dentist. Just doesnt Care and so rude its outrageous.
Dear AJ,
As partners of a really committed and conscientious team, we can’t fathom what has gone wrong here. As you have remained anonymous, it is impossible to investigate your comments.
We can’t stress enough to our patients, that if we do get things wrong or you are unhappy then please let us know. Negative experience: Terrible dentist that has no care for patients. I've been with this dentist for 3 years and I'm so glad i moved away and found a new dentist. Every time I went to them I'd feel like a child being told off because I needed a filling or tooth cleaning. I always had to pay for private dental and 2 of my fillings came out a few short months after they put them in. Furthermore you're always waiting as they are never on time. I had an inlay put in by them but after I repeatedly told them it felt loose and like it wasn't put in right as there were edges sticking out and I could feel it scratching my gum, I went to another dentist who took one look and immediately said it was loose and we have an appointment to change it ASAP. Let's hope that my tooth under the inlay is still okay otherwise it may be very bad and costly to fix just because of a terrible dentist. They also 'fixed' my husbands chipped front tooth - in reality they put in a filling so badly that he got an infection and has been in pain since. Hubby was actually too scared to go back! Avoid this dentist!!!
We are terribly sorry you have had this experience.
As you have remained anonymous we have no way of looking into this and cannot even guess as to what has gone wrong for you.
It is vitally important that treatments that do not go to plan are fully investigated both for future patient care and for our quality control purposes, so that we can make any necessary changes to procedures.
To this end could you please contact our practice manager by email at [email protected] or by telephone so that we may investigate this on your behalf.
Kind regards
Fantastic experience: Fantastic treatment, Khalida and her team were very patient with me and did a fantastic treatment, I highly recommend them! Thank you for your expertise and your kindness
Negative experience: Very disappointed as had good experiences with this dentist previously. Called up today to book an appointment and was told as I hadn't attended regularly enough withjn the last 2 years I was no longer allowed to be an NHS patient and would have to be private. In the same conversation was told they had backlog of patients they were prioritising. With everything covid in the oast year i hadn't had a check up. Seems very unfair to not make allowances for that in this current climate!! Stuck trying to find a surgery that is taking new patients now!
Dear Sophie,
I fully understand your frustration as we feel it too. At the BDC we have a small NHS contract which limits us to carry out a certain amount of treatment on the NHS. Due to the COVID situation there have been further constraints, under the instruction and guidance of NHS England, which all practices are facing. We have applied to the NHS Commissioners for extra funding, but it simply isn’t available. It is therefore a very careful balancing act of how we utilise the limited funding we have. Patients in need are therefore prioritised including; emergencies, the vulnerable and children. I agree this is a tough situation for all and we would hate to lose you as a patient. There is a NHS waiting list or preventative dental plans that the practice fully endorses as it ensures our patients are able to visit us regularly and there are no issues with appointments.
Do let us know if you would like to discuss any of the above further.
Best wishes, The BDC Team
Negative experience: Really dissapointing as I had called to say I was running late from work which is on the other side of London.I had paid for my parking and got in to the practice 12 mins late only to be told I had just missed the deadline to which I was not told in the initial call what amount of time was allowed. The receptionist seemed to almost take pleasure in informing me so.It was such a struggle to even get the time off work as we are all trying to keep our jobs in this current climate.Shameful really.I am certain they will charge me just the same which isnt really the main issue as it's when I can arrange that time off again .Surely there should be some moral obligation to inform your paying client when they courteously call you to inform you that they are late that you will cancel their appointment after x amount of minutes late.I could have stayed at work and gone some way to help securing my job.
Dear Kevin,
We appreciate your annoyance in this situation. However, it very much depends on the time allocated for your appointment. This particular session was with the hygienist who had a 20minute slot -so once more than half the appointment is lost, it is not feasible to carry out the service efficiently. On looking at our computer records you have arrived late on a couple of occasions and we have accommodated you as they were longer treatment times, therefore being more feasible and fair on the clinician to carry out work effectively and the patient to receive the required care. In regards to the receptionist taking ‘pleasure’ in telling you that you can’t be seen, I believe this has been mistaken for genuine friendliness. To answer your comments on being charged - we endeavour to not charge for wasted time, which is why we request 24 hours notice if needing to cancel an appointment. We appreciate it’s difficult to juggle busy schedules, which is why we try and accommodate our patients by being open seven days a week, so perhaps a weekend appointment would be more suitable when booking the hygienist.
Best wishes
The BDC Team
Negative experience: Everytime I have a dentist appointment always made to wait aleast 45 mins +!
Dear Wendy, We apologise that you feel you have been kept waiting for an excessive amount of time as 45 minutes would clearly be! As a practice we strive to stay on time and hate to run late. We request that people wait outside when they are physically able to, in order to protect other patients by reducing social and physical contact between people so as to minimise the risk of spread of infections. We also request that patients do not turn up early to their appointments for their own comfort and to minimise the chance of extra contacts. On checking our patient log system it appears that our records are inconsistent with us running 45 min late for your past appointments, indeed having recently arrived very early for your appointment you would have had to wait 23 minutes until your actual scheduled appointment time, in this cold weather and highly stressful times we can appreciate that that is unpleasant, and do apologise, but it is highly unlikely that we will be able to see you earlier than your booked time, although it appears that we have done so whenever possible in the past. Please feel free to contact us directly on [email protected] should you wish to investigate this further, we will be happy to assist as our system logs all arrival and departure times so that we know who is in the building at all times. Kind regards, Beckenham Dental Centre.
Negative experience: Terrible customer service, just hang the phone when I was trying to book an appointment. So rude!
Dear Andres. Unfortunately we had been experiencing difficulties with our telephone system. Our receptionists would not have simply hung up unless they could not hear you. We are now set up with a new system and would welcome you to rebook at your convenience.
Fantastic experience: My son recently went to the Beckenham Dental centre to have a chipped tooth fixed. All the staff we dealt with were really helpful and friendly. His tooth was pretty badly chipped and it was a front one too! Wow, what an amazing job they did fixing and matching the colour. You cannot tell the tooth was chipped. Would recommend them and will be going back.
Fantastic experience: I’ve been with this dental practice for almost 40 years! I’m now a wheelchair user, with MS. The team cannot do enough for me. I’ve always found the receptionists to be friendly and welcoming. My dentist Alex is brilliant and so is Abby my hygienist. If it wasn’t for them I would have dentures by now! I wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.
Negative experience: After browsing the other reviews here and taking a recommendation from a friend I decided to give this place a try. Big mistake, huge. Despite booking a checkup and cleaning in advance I was first made to stand outside in the street for almost half an hour past my 10:00am appointment without explanation. When I was finally called in, reminiscent to being summoned into the head teachers office, my eagerly awaited time with the dentist was short and far from sweet. For a first appointment he asked his questions, did a lacklustre exam and sent me packing, all within 20 minutes. He recommended a filling for gum recession, which I found more than strange but decided to just smile and nod given that he’s the one who should know. It was when I found myself back at reception being accused of ‘misunderstanding” or being entertained with a number of other nonsensical excuses for why I wasn’t going to get the cleaning I’d booked that I really started to lose the will to live. I’d paid a £50 deposit and the checkup was only £36, which I thought would have laid to rest any doubt regarding the idea I’d “got it wrong” but this fact seemed lost on the receptionist. I’m an Invisalign patient (at another clinic thankfully) and I’m supposed to have cleanings every 3 months, hence why it was such a let down to be messed around in this way. Regardless, the cleaning I’d booked was not going to happen and no tangible reason was given. However, deciding to cut my losses and just ask how much the proposed filling would cost before making a run for the nearest exit, I was once again further deflated by being told “I’m not the one to ask, I don’t know” by the receptionist. At this I decided enough was enough and it was clear this place was not for me, or anyone else with an ounce of expedition to get, at minimum, the services they book and pay for. So, as others have mentioned in their reviews, the reception staff are utterly inept. They are the face of the business and do nothing to encourage faith or patronage. I’ve had dental treatment overseas and at a number of places around London and can honestly say that this is the worst experience I’ve had, and this applies to the questionable work and advice from the dentist too. In summary, if you’re one of those who just wants to feel like you’re keeping your teeth healthy, going through the motions and wanting to hear that all is well from a lazy disorganised practice then this is just the place for you. Also, if you have a vast quantity of time on your hands and don’t mind having it wasted, then this might also be a place you’d enjoy. If, on the other hand, you actually care about your oral health and don’t want problem upon problem with the whole experience then definitely head to one of the better practices in the area.
Dear Craig,
Thank you for taking the time to raise these concerns and for speaking with our practice manageress earlier. We have taken your comments on board, and we are disappointed that your expectations have clearly not been met.
As you have mentioned the “gum filling” for recession, the dentist, in accordance with most dental professionals, believes that in cases with moderate tooth tissue loss, it is in your best interest to cover this with a shallow composite restoration to protect the exposed dentine from further tooth surface loss which can lead to sensitivity and even decay. The dentist stands by his diagnosis and recommendation and is happy for you to have an independent examination.
We apologise for the delay in waiting for your exam. We always try to stay on time but sometimes depending on the treatment/emergency slots we can over run. Waiting outside the practice is to protect staff and other patients by reducing social and other contact within a busy practice and following Public Health England’s recommendations.
Regulations for health care premises are understandably much stricter than for other places for public access.
Invisalign patients do not necessarily need 3 monthly cleans, this should be assessed individually.
There are new protocols regarding Covid-19. I believe a miscommunication has occurred with the booking in of your visit and for this we truly apologise.
We have drastically reduced maintenance ultrasonic aerosol producing cleanings as have the majority of the country. These stain-removing cleanings can only be done with ffp3 respirator masks, surgical gowns and to then leave the surgery for a 1 hour fallow time resulting in much lost time treating patients in need. Thus they need to be carefully planned and authorised by the prescriber beforehand. We apologise if you were led to believe that you would receive an aerosol-generating clean, all our staff are aware that we have been performing non-aerosol procedures where possible for the past 3 months.
In very challenging and frustrating times for both patients and clinicians, we are all trying our very best to provide an excellent service under new restrictive parameters - it seems you have been unlucky in this instance and we wish you the very best.
Fantastic experience: I visited this dentist for the first time today which went well the dentist was great and i would use them again. But the dentist association os not fully aware of cross contamination. Going in and out of the room using the same gloves door handle. I was in pain so i let it pass. If i do go they again i would have to pull her up abot it . The dentist was so good explain everything to he was very and did say something to. When she was picking somrthing up. Thanks a lot for your help you done a great job dentist!!!
Hi Pamela, Thank you very much for the positive feedback regarding your first visit with us.
Please be assured that the dentists and assistants change their gloves numerous times during each appointment. Pre covid we would not leave the surgery with PPE on, however, due to tightening of our cross infection procedures we now wear fresh gloves and masks outside to reduce contamination.
We look forward to welcoming you back soon. The BDC Team.
Negative experience: I went as a new private patient. My dentist visit was alright however the service from the reception is poor. I was told I would get the invoice emailed to me. This was not sent, I called and emailed 3 times without getting it. I walked into the practice to pick up my invoice which was printing in seconds for me.
Hi Elena. Reception looked into this and the email had been sent from our end, so apologies for system failure. Pleased we got there in the end.
Fantastic experience: Professional and friendly
Fantastic experience: Great experience with Dr Sharman. Very friendly guy, caring with patients and really knows his stuff. Have already recommended him to number of friends and family. All other staff also friendly - the receptionists are always friendly and helpful and try to accommodate your busy diary where they can.
Negative experience: So shocked, I called to register my children under the NHS and myself private and the receptionist a man called Vicky hung the phone up when I mentioned NHS. So I called back and another receptionist answered so I told her the other receptionist hung the phone up and she actually laughed! Again I mentioned my 2 children being under the NHS and she said no the waiting time is to long for them. Disgusting customer service!!
Firstly please accept our apologies for what, at first appearance, seems utterly shocking and disappointing to us. However thank you so much for bringing it to our attention.
I would like to clarify the situation, we have been having severe difficulties with our phone system, and the fact that Vicky sounded like a man before the phone cut out indicates yet another fault to be reported. The ladies on reception this week have affirmed this, and that Vicky was in fact answering your call but unable to hear a word you said.
I believe the second receptionist’s laughter was more due to her trying to lighten the atmosphere rather than genuine merriment at the inability of the NHS to grant more funding to support the need in this area for dental care. Sadly we are currently at capacity for NHS patients, unless further funding should become available, and whilst ideally we would want to grant access to all children, the NHS commissioners are very strict at enforcing contract limits. As such, although we might have been able to offer your children appointments, they would likely be some months ahead which is not necessarily in their best interest. The information that we would have liked to give you would have been to contact NHS111 to be directed to other local practices which may still have capacity.
Of course, nothing will change without more members of the public contacting their own MPs regarding the lack of funding for NHS Dentistry.
We will be taking this further with the telephone company and have arranged to meet with them, and will certainly be making them aware of your experience.
Once again, please accept our sincere apologies for this situation, it seems you have been unfortunate being on the receiving end of a technical problem, and a receptionist who was simply trying to lighten the atmosphere being misconstrued. However, we really are appreciative of the feedback regarding your experience and we are doing our utmost to rectify these problems, which we otherwise would not have been alerted to!
Should you have any further questions please contact us at [email protected]
Fantastic experience: I needed emergency cosmetic treatment. I was seen within 20 mins! The standard of service in this practice is outstanding. I highly recommend them.
Fantastic experience: Always an excellent standard of dentist and hygienist. The reception team are also extremely helpful especially when dealing with urgent appointments.
Positive experience: good
Fantastic experience: I find it an efficiently-run practice with a calm and pleasant waiting area (just right for nervous patients!) Very friendly service, and I always feel at ease with my dentist (Mrs Ghose).
Fantastic experience: Highly recommended. Very happy with treatment so far.
Fantastic experience: Very friendly helpful staff
Positive experience: Really kind friendly staff and super helpful dentists.
Fantastic experience: I always have a good experience at this dentist (as far as is possible at any dentist with my teeth!). The receptionists are friendly, helpful and efficient. Appointments run to time. I have always been a nervous patient, but have confidence coming here that I will be sympathetically treated. If I need work done, I am given clearly explained options. So I have no reluctance coming for check ups or treatment.
Fantastic experience: I registered with this practice when I moved to the area 4 years ago and have always found the staff friendly and helpful.
Fantastic experience: Seen on the day as an emergency and given first class treatment.
Fantastic experience: Caring and professional clinic. I am very pleased with the care I received.
Fantastic experience: Great practice. Friendly and efficient staff. Been with them for years and no plans to look elsewhere. Highly recommended.
Fantastic experience: I had my usual excellent and friendly treatment from hygienists Vicky and Abby and dentist Mr Patsias and would highly recommend the Beckenham Dental Centre. I have been a patient for 40 years.
Fantastic experience: We have been patients at this practice for many years, despite not living locally, and have always received very professional service. Unfortunately, our previous dentist, Trevor Rogers, retired not long ago but we are still very pleased with the service we have received since. In particular, we would like to mention Lena Ghosh who saw my husband recently at very short notice when part of his tooth and a filling came out. He was fitted in with an appointment the following day (a Saturday) and she treated him great professionalism. He felt no pain whatsoever throughout the procedure nor afterwards. Many thanks to all at the practice.
Fantastic experience: Sunny and the Beckenham Dental Centre have transformed my smile - I honestly don't know what I would have done without them! They are helpful, flexible, friendly and professional.
Fantastic experience: My daughter and I see Carl and Melissa, they are really friendly and professional. I thought about changing to a dentist nearer home but won’t because they’re so nice!
Fantastic experience: Very nice and helpful start with resonable costs for private treatment. emergency appts on a sunday to which has been very handy in the past.
Fantastic experience: Excellent atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door . The receptionists are warm and friendly and teeth are always maintained swiftly and professionally by both Dr Nick Patsias and Abby. I fully recommend this practice after the attention for the last 30 years
Fantastic experience: Dean is an excellent dentist, I'm very happy of the crown he installed about a year ago, he saved my tooth! He's also very honest and gives good advice.
Positive experience: So far so good, I changed my dentist to be more local to me and I am very pleased so far!
Fantastic experience: Dentists and hygenists very friendly and professional. The practice has been providing a great service to myself and my family for many years.
Fantastic experience: My experiences with Dean Witter have always been superb. He's efficient, friendly, and you feel reassured in his care. He's just fitted a crown for me and the experience was fine.
Positive experience: This dental session was with the hygenist and had been delayed as my normal hygenist was too busy. The 2 new hygenist I have visited do not have the experience or manner to make me feel totally comfortable so I want to visit the hygenist I have used for the last number of years.
Fantastic experience: Very professional and a pleasure to go there. Don't forget to floss.
Fantastic experience: I've been visiting the dentist and hygienist here for many years. Always very helpful and pleasant to deal with.
Negative experience: I was here to get help when i had so mush pain that i could not sleep for days. The dentist took the wrong tooth and i had to go in to a night open clinic later that night, where they fixed the problem. I had to pay for dentist treatment 2 times in one day, and i never received the photos from the first dentist. Altho i asked for them and he promised to send them to me on my email. I dont feel like he followed up on his word. Maybe because the photos showed that he made a mistake? Im still waiting for my photos 2 and a half month after. Wilde Flan
Dear Ms Flan, I am pleased you left a review as we were able to review your case; as this confused account of your treatment is of great concern and not compatible with our clinical notes. The practice has now contacted you directly to recommend that you discuss this with us, so we can clarify the actual treatment you had and any subsequent issues you had/still have. We are not able to divulge any personal clinical information on a forum such as this otherwise. I have discussed with the dentist your X-ray, which has been overseen and approved by a partner and subsequently sent to you. All the best, Beckenham Dental Centre Management Team
Positive experience: Always friendly staff. Dental treatment second to none
Fantastic experience: My experience at the dental practice has always been as expected from professional's from reception, nurses and dentist. That's why I have given them 5☆.
Fantastic experience: Excellent dentist- I was seen quickly and promptly and engaged in the treatment plan.
Fantastic experience: Fantastic practice, with welcoming staff. Am a slightly nervous patient when it comes to the dentist so it has been great to have been made to feel completely at ease on every visit. Would highly recommend.
Positive experience: I always find the ladies on reception friendly and helpful. On my visit this week I saw a new dentist (my previous dentist retired) and felt as if I was being rushed through. The whole visit took 15 mins with a general health check and quick clean and polish. I wasn’t impressed at all and after over 20 years with the practice and I am seriously thinking of looking for another dentist.
Fantastic experience: My family have been seen at this practice for many years. Very friendly and professional. We are all seen by Alex, and my son who suffers from anxiety has been very happy under her care.she Makes him feel comfortable and fully aware of aware of what's happening. Highly recommend to anyone seeking a dentist.-
Fantastic experience: I've attended The Beckenham Dental centre for years. The friendly team make the experience of going to the dentist an enjoyable one. Furthermore, my teeth are in good order! Highly recommend.
Fantastic experience: Great dental centre and 100% recommended. I have been followed by Dr. Sunny Sharman for the last 3 months and it has been a great experience overall, he will make you feeling at home and give you as much information as you need to decide what the best treatment is for you. I could not recommend Beckenham dental centre and Dr. Sunny enough
Fantastic experience: My partner and I are patients at Beckenham Dental Centre and have been for some years. Our dentist is Dean Witter and we also take advantage of the Hygenist service (Becky). At all times we have been treated in a friendly and professional manner and any out of course appointments have been arranged efficiently by the great team at Reception. We have no hesitation in recommending Beckenham Dental Centre to anyone in the area.
Fantastic experience: I've always had good experiences each time I go. They always are helpful and give great advice
Fantastic experience: Would highly recommend this practice. At my first visit Carl picked up that I needed a filing and that I needed to be referred so that tests could be done on white patches in my mouth.
