Bhandal Dental Practice (Blackheath Surgery)

Negative experience: I am writing to raise a serious complaint regarding the treatment my elderly mother received from Mr. Bandal, the owner of Bandals Dental Practice. The level of care provided during her tooth extraction was extremely concerning and, in our experience, completely unacceptable. During the procedure, Mr. Bandal acted with what appeared to be significant recklessness. He pushed, pulled, and applied force so aggressively that my mother’s entire face was moving from side to side. This caused her great distress and raised clear concerns about the safety and professionalism of the treatment. He administered multiple injections of anaesthesia (approximately 4–5), but began attempting to extract the tooth before the anaesthetic had taken full effect. At no point did he pause to check whether she was in pain, comfortable, or coping with the procedure. His lack of communication, care, and empathy—particularly toward an elderly patient—was extremely alarming. Given the seriousness of these issues, we have reported the incident to the General Dental Council (GDC) for further investigation. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend Bandals Dental Practice. The standard of care we witnessed was wholly inadequate, and I urge others to exercise caution.

Negative experience: I’m not happy at all, my partner has booked an urgent appointment here and on the day with an hours notice they just said, “Sorry! We’ve had to cancel” and that she should call to rearrange but upon multiple times of calling there’s no answer?! However if this was a patient cancelling on a dentist, they get denied services. Fix up

Negative experience: Did not like this place did visit a few years back but forgot to leave the review came inside all they did was laugh at my teeth and said "it's your own fault" didn't say nothing but never agin coming back and no this is not my real name.

Fantastic experience: I joined Bhandal dental practice after not being able to find a dentist to do a procedure due to health problems I was seen by Dr Sukhmani who done it safely and without any issues. Dr Sukhmani researched and got a second opinion to help me, when a lot of others had refused due to risks without even trying. She was very patient, explained all what she was doing and kept a very nervous me calm. its been just over a week since my treatment and it was instantly resolved. I have requested for Dr Sukhmani to be my dentist going forward. I must also say a great dentist isn't complete without a fantastic dental nurse. Liz was brilliant, polite and knew what was required from her. A fantastic duo!

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Dr. Paven and her team enough for my Invisalign treatment. From my very first consultation, she was incredibly understanding of my concerns and took the time to walk me through every step of the process. I was so impressed with how accommodating the clinic was; they always managed to fit me in for appointments, which I truly appreciated. The results are better than I could have imagined and have given me so much confidence. I can't stop smiling! Thank you!

Negative experience: Absolute joke! The way they have treated my 77 year old nan, threw her moulds away when she requested them for another dentist as she had been messed about by these. Needed an urgent appointment and was told it would be 2 weeks! She had an abcess!

Negative experience: Trying to call the dentist when it clearly open but noone is answering the phone been trying for 2 days what are they doing as there is alot of staff so fustrated

Fantastic experience: I had some fillings done today and Dr. Pushpam made the entire process completely stress-free. I genuinely appreciate her gentle approach and clear communication throughout as I was nervous about the procedure, I've had fillings done before, and this was by far the most comfortable and positive experience. Fantastic experience: I am a nervous patient and hadn't been to a dentist for 8 years I went with a toothache and needed an extraction Dr Pavan was very good and put me at ease and when the day came to have the tooth out I felt no pain and it was over in minutes the dental nurse was lovely as well. I will not be so nervous the next time all in all a brilliant experience and I would definitely recommend this dentist

Negative experience: They banned me as a patient for missing 3 appointments, even though one was from 2022 and I tried to cancel the others multiple times — they just never answer the phone! Instead of taking responsibility for their useless phone lines, they blamed me and kicked me out. Rude, unfair, and completely unprofessional. If your busy and can no longer make an appointment, just know: you won’t be able to cancel unless you sit there ringing endlessly, and your lucky if you get through. And if you can’t, then YOU are the problem. Not them

Fantastic experience: I visited Dips and Sandy to have have my gap closed on my two front teeth, I was there less than 40 minutes and they gave me a brand new smile, I'm absolutely over the moon. They are both amazing and reassured me throughout.... so happy

Fantastic experience: I've been coming here for nearly 30 tears and it ended up that my husband & two children came here too, sometimes all four of us together! We had Lucky as our fanily dentist for about 20 years, and very lucky we were. He is gentle, kind & very skilled. A reshuffle meant I got a new dentist called Dorsa. I was very nervous but she kindly reassured me & she has now been looking after my teeth since Covid. Today, she did two deep fillings, a chip repair & scale and polish. I didn't feel a thing. She let me have plenty of breaks & explained everything very patiently. She gives great prevention advice & really listened ro my concerns, helping me to get everything sorted before I move away this summer. Dorsa is great, as is the dental nurse who works with her. Thanks both!

Negative experience: Paid for a consultation for invisaline, The dentist was late, she was stood at reception having a laugh and joke with reception team. She was 15 mins late for my appointment, when I addressed how late she was and how I had actually paid for consultation, she decided she didn't want to see me ans banned me from the surgery just because I have told her I wasn't happy with the waiting time considering I was a paying customer! She was rude, very unprofessional aswell, I think her father is a dentist there she went running to daddy complaining! Terrible place, aviod. Smile surgery on high St in Blackheath is way better

Fantastic experience: Dr Dorsa is amazing! I have been seeing her for years and she has done a root canal for me years ago and fixed a front tooth today that was broken nearly in half. She matched the colour and the shape on both occasions so well that I can't even tell I've had any work done on my teeth! Great practice and they are really great with kids as well!

Fantastic experience: This is the first dentist I been too in a few years. I saw Dr Pavan and Kerenca, both lovely and saw how stressed and anxious I was about being there. I explained what was wrong and they dealt with my situation there and then which was amazing. They kept me calm throughout the whole appointment. They was amazing!!!

Fantastic experience: I am a very nervous patient and my previous Dentist left the surgery, so was very anxious about who would take over my care. DR PAVAN and LIV, the nurse, were great from first meeting. They LISTENED to my concerns and gave me advice about my care, without making me feel like I had no control. When I get extremely stressed and anxious, I can come across as angry and shouty but they understood it was my condition and they spoke to me like a human being, while reassuring me about my care-plan. I have had very negative and horrible experiences with other dentists, since I was a young child, so I really hate going. I am extremely grateful for their care and understanding and whole heartedly recommend them for anyone with any issues visiting a dentist! Bhandal surgery, Blackheath, has been so helpful and understanding.

Negative experience: Paying for braces, yet so many appointments have been cancelled. I asked to see someone else and was told there’s a three-week wait. Why am I even paying for this? Save your money and go elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Visited this practice on 22.05.25. The staff are very helpful and the two dentists I saw very friendly and professional. They are accepting new NHS patients so would recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I have recently been under the care of Dr Dorsa at the Blackheath branch of Bhandal Dental Practice. She found a problem during my routine checkup but has made sure the problem has been treated and followed up. She was very efficient and thorough, explained everything and was very kind. I am very happy with the service, as has always been the case at this practice.

Negative experience: I’ve been trying to contact this dentist since yesterday 8 missed calls they now have off me , the receptionists need firing there so rude they don’t help at all with anything and I was only supposed to have braces for about 2 years ended nearly having them for 3 there still on now and are broken!!!! 1 extra year due to all the breakages , don’t come here!!

Fantastic experience: Demi and Simran are a high credit for the work that they do at Blackheath Bhandals dental practice. I had a massive phobia for the dentist 2 years ago and was worried about making such a large life commitment having Invisalign done, but Simran and Demi helped me over come my phobia with such patience and kindness and professionalism. My journey with them both has been one that I will pass onto others as I feel they deserve a lot more recognition for the work they do! Negative experience: My filling has fallen out that this dentist had put in so i rang for an appointment and had to wait a week and a half with my nerve exposed and simple activities causing me pain such as eating, drinking and even talking which i stated. i was never booked in for a following check up once they had put the filling in which is typically supposed to happen a few months later to check on the filling and ensure it's properly set and functioning well. So nobody has looked over it since it went in. My appointment was booked at 9am and due to school morning traffic i arrived for 9:05 and was told the dentist had refused to see me i will no longer be able to continue appointments with the blackheath branch neither any others. I’m shocked that I’ve been refused treatment or even a quick check up when my pain is serious and my nerve is exposed causing more chance for infection?

Fantastic experience: I just want to thank Dr Simran and dental nurse Demi. After looking at a few different options I had a consultation for crowns/veneers and decided to go ahead and I am so glad I did! Dr Simran and Demi have literally given me back my my smile and confidence, No more covering my mouth when I laugh. They were both very informative and although I was very nervous through the procedures I had no need to be they are both so lovely and put me at ease every step of the way ( I actually looked forward to appointments I had with them) If I was to have any dental cosmetic work again in the future I will definitely be coming back here I wouldnt even consider anywhere else. I had over crowded discoloured front teeth and now I have a straight white smile from having 2 crowns and 2 vaneers and it all started with a consultation. I honestly can't praise them both enough from customer service to the work they do and the results they achieve 5 stars all round. Thankyou!!

Fantastic experience: Great experience! Dr. Pavan Bhandal and her nurse were amazing. I had a filling and a cleaning with Dr. Bhandal, and she explained everything to me thoroughly. She also gave me great advice on preventing gum disease. I didn’t even feel the needle when she numbed my mouth, she was very gentle. The filling is flawless and I can’t even feel the difference. Fantastic experience: Dr Dorsa and her nurse Kerenza were amazing, although I was very nervous to have an injection, dr Dorsa managed to inject me so gently that I didn’t even feel it. The whole procedure was pain free and actually a nice experience. Kerenza was a great nurse, she was on point with everything and delicate with her suctioning, best dentist and nurse you will come across.

Fantastic experience: Dr Pavan was amazing and Liv. I’m really nervous when it comes to going to the dentist, as I have had previous bad experiences. For the first time I felt calm. Dr Pavan spoke to me all the way through teassuring me and making sure i was ok, also breathing with me and i felt totally relaxed. I’ve never felt like this when going to the dentist. Fantastic experience: Had to have root canal treatment recently and saw Dr Dorsa. I was s little nervous having not had this treatment before, Dr Dorsa was extremely reassuring and explained everything thoroughly and clearly. She regularly checked that I was ok throughout the treatment and offered regular breaks to make the treatment easier for me. The dental nurse assisting was extremely efficient and very friendly when she greeted me. I would definitely recommend, thank you

Fantastic experience: As I am a very nervous patient from bad experience at a different dental practice. Bhandals in Blackheath are by far the best dental. They are very understanding if you are nervous or have had previous bad experience here at Blackheath Bhandal they put you at ease and make you very comfortable and put the control in your hands and at your own pace and they have a very high duty of care to there patients. They helped and put me at ease and made me feel comfortable and relaxed. 10/10 best dental practice. Amazing staff I will happily return back to Bhandal Blackheath.

Negative experience: The dentist herself has always been a pleasure to deal with. Unfortunately, today I have dealt with the rudest receptionist ever. I was a few minutes late to my appointment due to a road closure and temporary traffic lights and was told the dentist couldn't see me now (was annoyed but fair enough, can't hold other patients up) when trying to book another appointment the receptionist was very unhelpful, not really forthcoming with suggestions and needed prompting. I enquired about booking for January and was told I couldn't because it was too far in advance. Anyway decided to leave it for now as wasn't really getting anywhere. But the final straw was when I asked when my children were due and she literally huffed, rolled her eyes at me and shouted "name". It was very embarrassing and very rude, so I called her out on her behaviour in the waiting room as by this point I had lost my patience and saw red, this receptionist couldnt have given a damn to be honest. If any managers see this review, I am more than willing to speak to you about this to resolve the situation, I also know you probably don't care as you have too many patients to handle already but this lack of customer service could end up costing you clients. I am appalled at the way I was treated today by your receptionist, I also feel I can stand up for myself so would hate for her to speak to someone who is vulnerable because she clearly doesn't have any empathy. And before you reply saying I did this and that to make this post not seem as bad. Here's what I did wrong : I was late by 3/4 minutes, was annoyed I'd missed my appointment, lost my temper when receptionist rolled her eyes and called her out on it. I did not swear, threaten violence or anything else, I walked out.

Fantastic experience: Dr Simran Bhandal and her dental nurse Demi have spent the last year or so transforming my smile using the Invisalign treatment plan. I have received the best care and treatment and now I have the most amazing smile. The detailed care and attention I have received has been professional and attentive, I have felt at ease and confident throughout knowing the results would be as desired. High standards deserve high praise. So a big thank you to Simran, Demi and the lovely reception staff at the Bhandal practice in Blackheath.

Negative experience: Mistold about my appointment, struggling to eat, told I would get it sorted, I come in, get mislead on what was booked and what can be done, now ive paid band 1 and will have to pay band 2 again on my second visit because they dont have the time to fix my original issue. What a scam. Tried to log a complaint first reception, older lady was helpful, explained I need to contact the practice manager, I called again as I had taken the email wrong and second lady, basically gave me the brush off, send I need to send a letter instead. Easier to complain to NHS tbh

Fantastic experience: I am so pleased I came across this dentist on the nhs find a dentist app to be honest what drew me to this practice was the parking situation but that has become insignificant with the treatment I have received from this practice, from my initial consultation to the two treatments I needed I have experienced fabulous treatment. The staff are friendly, the 3 dentists I saw explained everything that was needed and didn’t make me feel pressured into making a decision. I am not sure how they do it they are so efficient that I haven’t had to wait more than a minute or so past my appointment time to be seen my tooth extraction was booked for 8am and I was walking out of the surgery with 1 less tooth at 8.10am but didn’t feel rushed at all. I will highly recommend this dentist surgery to people I know or who need an nhs one.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely terrified of dentists, 18 years since my last appointment Had a very difficult tooth extraction, and was very anxious.. Dr bhandal, was very gentle, with initial numbing injections. And absolutely fabulous with the extraction.. It was tough going, but felt absolutely no pain whatsoever.. All staff were very friendly. Really felt at ease.. Definitely would recommend to my friends and family.. And feel my fear of dentists has been significantly reduced.. Keep up the good work....

Negative experience: I visited the other day, after my dentist had previously left. And was told I obviously had a new one, which is completely fine. Until she was the rudest person I've ever met...for someone like myself who is nervous of dentist I'm not going to lie she did not put me at ease at all, my mum was rudley spoken to aswell on our visit. I work in customer service myself and this was definitely not great customer service. Place has gone downhill. But the lady who cleaned my teeth after was absolutely lovely and the girl who was also in the room I had no faults with. But I will be changing who I'm with at this practice.

Fantastic experience: 5***** stars for Dr Dorsa. She is genuinely the best dentist I have had, encouraged me to stop smoking in a very positive manner, always greeted with a smile, gentle when examining and treating and absolutely amazing at her job I can not fault her. She always gives amazing advice as well, I travel from Handsworth just for her because I don’t want to change dentists, that says it all!

Fantastic experience: Saw Dr Dorsa yesterday, front tooth was loose and giving me pain, i was very nervous, she checked me over and I asked her to just pull it out, she gave me all the different options and was so calming, kind, gentle and reassuring, 7 needles later, the tooth was out, going back in 2 weeks for false tooth, thank you Dr Dorsa and assistant xxx

Fantastic experience: I recently had my first appointment with the dental therapist at the clinic, and I am thoroughly impressed with the experience. Lesley, the dental therapist who treated me, was exceptionally professional and friendly. She made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. Davina, the dental nurse, was equally professional and courteous, contributing to a positive and reassuring atmosphere. The level of care and professionalism displayed by both Lesley and Davina was outstanding, and I am very satisfied with the treatment I received.

Negative experience: My sister had a filling this morning and it has already fallen out not once but twice. She’s had to pay for the replacement as well. It’s clear that she needs a crown or a root canal but they keep shoving temporary fillings in her face.

Fantastic experience: Bhandal dental surgery in Blackheath Birmingham are the best Dentists I have ever been to. All the staff are nice and polite and Dr Pavan and her assistant Liv are absolutely fantastic and I do not use those words lightly. Incidentally this is the first review I have ever left for a Dentist. A great thank you to this Dentist practice who go above and beyond to provide exceptional service and this applies to NHS patients.

Fantastic experience: I was so nervous to have something done to my teeth for the first time, my anxiety was through the roof. But the 2 ladys that did my treatment today were BRILLIANT they calmed me down. Kept making sure i was okay and explained everything thoroughly and made sure i understood what was happening 10/10 would reccomend

Negative experience: I wouldn’t even give this dentist 1 star. I had an awful experience with this dentist. Every time I went for an appointment, it never lasted more than 10 minutes. The visits felt super rushed, clearly because I was an NHS patient. It's evident they prioritize speed over proper care. I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking quality dental care. I had a dreadful experience with this dentist during COVID. They wouldn't let my mum come inside with me to the appointment, and forced me to take my braces off because I apparently wasn’t complying with their rules. As a 16 year old at the time with anxiety they he was very rude and told me if he didn’t take of my braces no one would. the metal strip came out multiple times and was causing me pain all day and at night. Cutting the sides of my gum. My braces were applied incorrectly by one of there dentist, who cut me on my chin with her tool and failed to glue them on properly—five of them came off within the first week! To top it off, the dentist was half an hour late to the appointment and left before we did, clearly in a rush. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. It was evident that they were only interested in quick and easy jobs, likely because I was an NHS patient. If I had paid more money privately, I'm convinced they would have taken more time and care with my treatment. I would not recommend this dentist to anyone seeking thorough and professional dental care. Avoid at all costs!

Fantastic experience: I recently visited Dr. Dorsa for a dental procedure, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Dr. Dorsa is not only incredibly professional but also exceptionally patient and kind. She has a unique way of making you feel calm and comfortable throughout the entire treatment process. What I appreciated most was her willingness to describe each step of the procedure, which really helped alleviate any anxiety I had. Fantastic experience: I recently underwent Invisalign and whitening with Dr Simran and Demi, and couldn’t be more satisfied with the results! From the initial consultation to final adjustments, their level of care and attention to detail was truly outstanding. Dr Simran’s expertise and professionalism were evident from the get go. She took time to thoroughly explain the treatment process and answered all my questions with patience and clarity. Fantastic experience: My third visit to Dr Dorsa today. I have advanced gum disease & needed deep cleaning sessions to minimise effects of this. My individual treatment plan clearly explained including how to improve dental hygiene at home. Dr Dorsa delivered treatment in a sensitive caring manner & today’s results show a marked improvement to my gum health. Very happy with service provided & can recommend.

Negative experience: The receptionist really disappoint this dental practice. They have no sense and poor attitudes. You can’t bypass them to make an appointment so it’s an unavoidable factor when encountering this place. I really feel receptionist should have some basic education so they can problem solve and not be the actual problem and have some customer service training so they have phone manners and a good standard of customer facing skills. You can tell they hate their job and they take it out on the customers or the only way they can enjoy their job and being there includes being rude and stuck up. Looking at the responses this dentist gives to their patients reviews you can tell they disregard feedback and become very defensive. Very argumentative and the issues will not be resolved if they keep arguing with patients instead of addressing the issues. Clearly taking constructive feedback isn’t their strong point. No one is going to go out of their way to make a bad review when they have had a good experience where is the incentive for that?! This place clearly has no intentions on improving. Very disappointing

Negative experience: What's happened today is joke with practice, we were 8 minutes late because of traffic and got refused to be seen. The staff are rude and tell lies . Don't go there and don't believe them

Negative experience: Had a 1st appointment in May last year as a private patient, was left waiting 40 minutes, they'd forgotten about me. Was advised to have 3 hygiene treatments totalling 480 pounds after the 2nd treatment I asked if I could postpone because I couldn't afford the remainder 300pounds, they totally disregarded my financial situation and said no I needed to be seen to on that day or within the next 2 weeks, I explained I couldn't afford it. No help of spreading the cost or anything else. It was a matter of if u can't afford it tough!!!!!! Fast forward to today to see if I could reconnect, because i could now afford the treatment.!!!!! I went in receptionist told me I'd have to pay 45 pounds up front just to make an appointment!!! Wow very bad service, its just all about the money. They've lost a patient from today!!!!!! And my money

Negative experience: When a company has as little attention or for its customers as this Dentists has, it’s usually systemic. From the Managment - down. To be clear, I’ve only had to go here a handful of times, but each times we’ve been met with staff that don’t care. Will be taking my kids off the list here too and looking for somewhere else.

Negative experience: I have had my children's appointments cancelled 3 times now on 3 different occasions. Children's have braces and have not been seen since October 2023 due to staff leaving finally got an appointmentfor February 2024, 5 months of no check ups which I have found concerning. Trying to get an urgent appointments due to brace wire breaking for my son is like getting blood from a stone. I have got told to call back, one receptionist will say call in the morning to see if the orthodontist can squeeze you in and when you call back in the morning it's no nothing is available then you call back later in the day and get an appointment which is a week away and its right in the middle of the day not really suitable for working parents or children in school. My children have only had there braces in for 11 months and it was great service at first apart from the appointments being cancelled but now I feel like there is no care towards my children in regards to there brace journey.

Fantastic experience: My dentist retired, and his replacement has taken over some of his patients. He's a lovely young man called Suki and has made me comfortable and relaxed . I had a tooth break, and he has made an emergency repair. Need to go back in the new year for a replacement filling

Fantastic experience: I went to Dr Simran for teeth whitening in the lead up to my wedding and I was SO pleased with my results. From the outset, Simran and the team were very thorough, took the time to explain everything to me in detail and kept in regular contact with me during my treatment. I was so so pleased with my results! I felt so much more confident with my smile and I’m so grateful for Dr Simran’s work. My teeth are still looking super white months later. I’d definitely recommend!

Negative experience: I’ve spent a lot of money on this treatment and am disgusted and disappointed with the treatment I received from my dentist! I got the Invisalign treatment from Simran. At the initial stage it was good, they made me feel welcomed and acknowledged and understood my concerns. However towards the end of my treatment, I felt as though my concerns were not taken seriously. When I raised an issue or wasn't happy with something such as a fault with my aligners, Simran would behave unprofessional and defensive. She came across rude and a disrespectful demeanour. This was also the case when making my last payment; I found I had additional charges to pay that i was unaware of and they failed to let me know in advance or at the time of charge and this came as a shock. I had no problem in paying, however, it would have been a courtesy to let me know what I'm paying for during my treatment. When my retainers were issued and ready to collect, there was no communication with myself, I wasn't even called in for the fitting, and they expected me to return without trying them on. When I asked the nurse if I can be seen by her, I was met with disdain in her room. Simran refused to greet me, refused to examine the fitting, became defensive and told me I was being rude because I had issues with the fit. Despite being mistreated, I thanked them and made my way out only to hear her muttering obscenities about me. The service was disappointing, considering for how much money you’re spending for the treatment and service.. you rather place your trust in to someone and pay for a service where you’re treated with respect and kindness. I’d advise any customer considering this place, to steer clear!!

Negative experience: mid way through my treatment lucky thought it was professional to scream at his colleagues in front me. The way he spoke down to the poor women was absolutely disgusting. After he left she explained that’s just how he is. Shocking!! Would not he returning.

Negative experience: I visited this practice around 6 months ago for a check up and was told by Lucky that I needed a root canal and that this procedure was not available on the NHS (despite being listed in band 2 of NHS treatment printed and displayed on the surgery wall). Before paying the extortionate amount they quoted, for me to go private at another Bhandal practice (convenient), I sought a second opinion and low and behold I am now in the process of having a crown fitted following a successful root canal on the NHS at a non-Bhandal practice! I'd steer clear where you can, I've had many family members with similar experiences some of whom would now rather pay private than step foot in a bhandal practice again

Negative experience: Please think twice before going to this place, { had a broken back tooth needed to come out the sister dentist said i should go to blackheath surgery as they had no appointments. They took me upstairs the nurse was so rude she showed me my xray. as i stood to look she told me not to stand by her . the dentist if you can call them that gave me injections i could still feel it i was sobbing in pain. they have left me traumatised my mouth is a mess im now going to a private dentist and im on antibiotics and they have still left a bit of tooth in they charged me over 70 pound that was also for a scale and polish which i never had i just wanted to get out the place. NO STAR BUT IT WONT LET ME POST IF I DONT PUT A STAR
