Fantastic experience: Dr Okan is a dentist who I would readily recommend to anyone needing dental treatment but who is apprehensive. He was professional and confident but made sure that I understood the procedure and regularly ensured that I was not in pain. My initial treatment was having a filling. I didn't realise he had given me an injection until my mouth started to numb- I didnt feel it!

Negative experience: I didn’t have a very good experience. The longest half hour of my life repairing a broken tooth with filing. Dentist seemed to be unable to numb all of the area. Very painful experience. I think the worst part of it was there was no apology no compassion didn’t even ask if I was okay and the assistant said nothing. Customer care was zero!! I had to ask why it wasn’t fully numb and the dentist said the fibres were so sensitive. I got a second opinion from another dental practice and they said she didn’t numb up the right nerve. They also said the corporate practices don’t have the best dentists. I paid £331.00 for a procedure that should have been painless. Never will I go back to this practice

Fantastic experience: My son saw Woan (Rose) Rou Lee today for his annual dental check up. He’s 5yrs old and although he doesn’t mind the dentist he was still a bit anxious. Woan immediately put him at ease, playing jokes (magic dental chair and light) which my son giggled away too. She was very gentle and kind. She gave a sticker after which my son was super impressed with. It’s dentists like Woan that make children's appts so much easier and also worth while when having to travel from Cheltenham. Negative experience: This is one of the only NHS dentists in Gloucester. They have told me they have "no more capacity" to take on NHS patients, but they apparently DO have capacity to take private patients... at twice the price. Naked profiteering at our expense. Absolutely disgusting to see our services in this state.
Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused. Unfortunately, as this practice is currently at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are unable to offer you an NHS place. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options. These options are offered outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. Where alternative options are available, we will always offer these as an alternative. This allows patients to make an informed choice on their dental care.

Fantastic experience: I recently joined this dentist. I’m a really nervous patient due to past treatment disasters. Lavinia was lovely, calm & puts you at ease. Today I went back for a hygienist appointment with Sarah & wow my teeth were the cleanest they have looked in years despite having them cleaned at previous dentist. She numbed the areas which were sensitive which made the treatment so much better for me, I felt relaxed. Sarah was also very nice & made you feel confident in her hands. I would definitely recommend this practice especially if you are like me a dental phobic.

Negative experience: Poor customer service from the reception staff they clearly not wanting customers on NHS at all just waiting to police there rules on you as it makes them feel good when you slip up and miss a appointment so they can kick you off that list so you can go private with them so they can make more money off you when they sense it. I work with children i found my self in a situation as its live not planned where i had to return my student to there domain as he/she couldn't be left at the location as they are vulnerable etc in doing so i couldn't make my appointment called left message on day that i couldn't make. So was less than 24hourse notice. The appointment missed prior to that where i was 5mins late due to parking machine not working so had to waste time dealing with that but on arrival reception girl had a face on from the moment i arrived an most other times i found they all have. So they wouldn't see me on that day so thats down as a missed appointment thats two missed an I'm off there list now. They said we have previously advised you if you failed to attend or provide 24 hour notice we cant offer you NHS treatment but they 100% haven't advised me in any way previously. So reflecting on this experience so far may be i will stay away from this horrible greedy bunch and go somewhere else and might even be happy to pay as a private patient where customer service experience will be miles better then this place. They are only interested in taking your money. So don't bother asking me to contact your manager to discuss the issue as i’m not wanting to come back as a patient either way.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the overall customer service you have received from our Gloucester dental practice. I apologise for any inconvenience this situation may have caused you. NHS dentistry contracts changed in England in 2006, any patient ‘registration’ to a specific dental practice was removed. Dentistry now works differently to General Practice, where patients are registered to a specific GP surgery, in dentistry patients are free to move between dental practices to obtain treatment, so long as the practice they wish to attend has NHS capacity. As a dental practice our NHS contractual obligation is only therefore to a patient during an open course of treatment. When a patient has treatment such as Crowns, Bridges and dentures, the treatment is covered under guarantee for a period of 1 year. Outside of these a dental practice does not have any obligation to continue to offer NHS care to a person. Our practices do ask for twenty four hours notice to amend/cancel appointments. We are aware that circumstances can occur that can effect scheduled appointments, for this reason we do allow two occasions for patients to miss/ late cancel, after these occasions the practice can remove the patient from the active NHS patient list. I am sorry to hear that this situation has lead to you choosing to find an alternative practice for your future oral health care. Please accept my best wishes for your future dental care. Fantastic experience: Dr Okan is a magician with the tools. Tooth was infected. Packed medicine into the tooth to prevent the pain for an upcoming holiday and then completed 3 root canal treatments when i was back. All sessions were pain free and explained everything clearly. MyDentist is class, easy to get an appointment and staff are friendly. Glad to have Dr Okan as my dentist now!

Negative experience: 1 star only because you have to provide a star to leave a review. Terrible experience. They take significant deposits, provide no flexibility or helpfulness with customer assistance. The staff are rude and unprofessional, not to mention deceitful. They lied about informing me of a 7 minute cut off point on appointments, and lied about the dentist needing to go on lunch despite the notion that practice was closing at 1pm. Incredibly dehumanising experience, with receptionists simply repeating phrases like a robot rather than trying to help reach a resolution. It's a money making factory and not a healthy practice or service. Most places don't take deposits that cover the entire cost of the appointment, and they certainly do their best to facilitate their customers when honest mistakes are made.

Negative experience: My experience hasn't been.greatest this last year,i am autistic,have some dental.issues where.as previous nhs dentist was great no messing just fix problems, currently i have waited 2 weeks to he looked at for part filling that fell out previous work,then to be told wait 4 weeks to be seen.again with hole still in tooth,had extraction opposite side part route still in so not fully healed,i am awaiting a referral 5 months and counting that i had to ask details of as received no paperwork, when dental work actually done i dont have issues its weeks of waiting then kinder kicked into long grass,before seen.chat,then seen and hopefully sorted, i prefer problem get it fixed asap move on,,lack of nhs dentists doesnt help situation as minimum wage worker,, i could list alot more but last 2 years have been less then ideal to say the least I was told to chase up the referral myself no contact details to do this,to get piece of root extracted since april that i been managing waiting,to no avail,when googling the location i was told is unavailable number no email, so currently contacting 111 to find any details to chase up this referral, to sort my root still in my gum, i dont believe things should be this drawn out or complicated, Today turned up for appointment that was changed and no one told me in any way shape or form,,had i known would be on bus to my rescue volunteer job etc which meant i was 50 minutes late in my day because of communication failure,receptionist was polite but confused too, 5.9.24

Fantastic experience: My experience has been great. I'm an NHS patient who registered in March 2024 and today (April 12th) had treatment. The treatment took place a few days after my initial checkup and the staff were great; friendly reception staff and a dentist who listened to me and involved me in all the decisions made about treatment. While some private treatments were offered to me, it was clearly to inform me of my options so that I could make an informed decision about my treatment. I did not feel forced to have private treatment that I would not have been able to afford. Just thought I'd leave a review as an NHS patient, as I had read some negative reviews from other NHS patients which did not reflect the experience I had. Thank you very much for restoring my smile and making it comfortable to eat again!

Negative experience: I’ve had a denture done by this practice that has broke at least a dozen (12) times. Still has not been fixed properly and when I questioned the Manager about it she became especially rude, obnoxious, arrogant, ignorant & insolent. (I was discharged from the practice for highlighting the problems I’ve had with their service.) So I don’t recommend going here, unless you want to be fobbed off with sub-par treatment and inexcusable excuses. The Manageress has a terrible attitude and customer priority. So obviously another money grabber, profiting off peoples health / dental problems. Absolutely shocking treatment by a so called “Profesional”. If possible I’d give -5 stars on the review, as I still have not had adequate treatment done / completed.

Negative experience: Not taking on NHS patients, I feel like it’s very misleading on their website to have all of the NHS advertisements, links to the NHS band pay and a banner advising they’re accepting new patients but do not disclose that those new patients need to be private online. It felt like I was mislead into calling them to be upsold their private rates, if I have to go to a private dentist I’d rather know upfront than be upsold it. I even advised the receptionist I couldn’t afford it and that’s why I was looking for an NHS dentist to be advised of their payment plans. It felt very greedy. Edited after seeing the practice comments. I’m not sure what the website says now but at the time the banner only read “accepting new patients” and nothing to advise that they were only accepting private patients. This banner was visible when looking at NHS banding. It felt very misleading and as I said at the time, felt like a marketing tactic to get you to call to be upsold their private rates.
We are very sorry to hear of your 1-star review. Our website unfortunately cannot differentiate from NHS and Private patients and as the practice states they are taking on new private patients. Therefore, the indicator is providing patients with the correct information.
The only time it will display ‘Not accepting’ is when the books are closed for both NHS and Private. Apologies for any inconvenience.

Negative experience: Defo not NHS - the old trick of getting you in to the Private Scheme as do most - website needs updating to inform people that they are not registering NHS patients !!

Unfortunately, as this practice is already at maximum capacity for NHS patients, they are currently unable to offer an NHS appointment. In some practices where we have no NHS appointment capacity, we do have alternative private options for patients to access dentistry, outside of the practices NHS contractual obligations. We will always offer patients this option as an alternative, so our patients can make an informed choice on their dental care.

Negative experience: The cost of a filling for a private patient is £160. I paid £60 deposit up front and on arrival for treatment was asked to pay the outstanding £100 before I had even been seen. When asking why this was i was told " you might walk out without paying ". I really didnt expect to be treated like a potential criminal amd so will be taking my money elsewhere in the future.

Negative experience: Have not used this practise since 2017 and so was told i had been deregistered...but they never told me this! Left two phone messages but never got back to me....so the moral of the story is do not look after your teeth, eat lots of sweets, have a good working relationship with your tooth fairy and you will remain a patient!
“I’m sorry you are unhappy that we can no longer offer you NHS services at the practice. The NHS state on their website that a dentist will usually recall a patient for their next check-up between three months and two years of their most recent one. The onus is on the patient to book regular check-ups and maintain their oral health.
You last attended a check-up in 2017, and therefore, we must assume that you have gone elsewhere for your dental check-ups. Our practice is a busy NHS practice and we need to make space available for patients who are awaiting NHS treatment. If you need urgent dental care or to locate another practice that is accepting new patients, please contact 111.”

Allowed me to book appointments, they cancelled on the day and then when tried to rebook I was told I shouldn’t have been able to book the appt in the first place and that it has to be paid for. Negative experience: Must have their hours wrong, been calling all morning. To get the same message that the practice is closed! Also when you do get appointments, no offer of referral to nhs specialist just to see their private specialist at a hefty price even though I am an nhs patient of theirs and currently have a maternity exemption card.
We are sorry to receive your review. In relation to the phone lines it could be that there was an issue on our lines that has since been resolved. With reference to your referral to a specialist you will need to speak with the clinician to establish the reasons for this. In some cases treatment may be complex and therefore would require specialist treatment and cannot be undertaken by a general clinician. As you have since attended the practice on a number of occasions I would hope that this has now been explained to you and a resolution has been reached.
