Fantastic experience: Everything it says on the tin! Christina and Lilly and everyone I have met at Calm and Gentle have been kind and understanding. They have taken great care of me. I’ve always been terrified of dental work after difficult experiences in the past - and they taken me through every treatment with diligent care and gentle, calm explanations. Thank you to everyone at Calm and Gentle Dentists. Reception and treatment have always been excellent.

Fantastic experience: Today I saw Adil for a Check up. We had a chat about how things were going, & he was happier with me this Afternoon regarding cleaning my teeth properly. (Although I do need to get into the gums better). Plus we uodated my medical history, as it wasn't working when i tried to do it on my phone before i went to see the Dentist. (As it kept coming up with the portal terms & conditions). Adil was very calm & gentle & friendly with me, & he explained& & told me everything that he was going to do before doing anything. . Also the Receptionist was very friendly & helpful too as well after my Appointment in organising payment & booking in my next Appointments to see Pieter for my 6 Month check up for my Implant Tooth, & my 6 Month Appointment with Adil next year.

Positive experience: Initially I felt welcomed and at ease (I have a fear of dentists) the Dentist I saw was kind, explaining everything as he went. The dental nurse was very friendly and helpful. I do need rather a lot of work done. I didn’t particularly feel comfortable asking questions about this, however I did ask a few, but felt l was being a pest and taking up too much time. Therefore felt a little rushed. Knowing what treatment and products are available and what I’d be concerned about is hugely important, especially when you’re spending a lot of money. In the end, whilst at reception paying for my next treatment, the dental nurse walked past and was kind enough to put me at ease with one particular concern had. On the whole my Dentist who is yet to do any dentistry procedure with myself seems pleasant. But I did leave feeling a little anxious about it all.

Fariba was great, got everything done in one pain free appointment while I listened to an audio book. Would definitely recommend C&D.

Fantastic experience: Dentists do not generally rate very highly on favorite places to go. Since joining this practice I have revised my opinion. The name Calm and Gentle sums them up perfectly. The people here tell you what is happening in layman's terms and make sure that you, the patient, are comfortable. Everything appears to be run for your benefit and convenience. I have been to dentists in the UK, US, Australia and France in the past and this really is the best dentist I have ever been to.

Fantastic experience: This is a very vibrant and friendly dental practice. The building is warm and bright and the staff are so warm, welcoming and kind. I’m a nervous patient, but all nerves disappear as soon as I enter! There’s such a joyful atmosphere. Dentists and nurses are understanding, informative and supportive. Negative experience: Awful experience here pretty much butchered my poor teeth while performing fillings especially with Graham. I did complain and requested that a dentist who knows what they are doing checked the damage done. They merely refunded my costs while not caring at all for the damage they caused to my poor teeth. Please find another dentist!

Fantastic experience: I joined Calm and Gentle Dental at the start of the year. I have had a few issues with my previous dentist practice so I decided to join Calm and Gentle. All I can say is I wish I had sooner. They have been absolutely fantastic, so kind and understanding of patients that are nervous. Private dentistry is expensive, but when you get the care and dedication that they provide it’s money well spent. Today I had my first filling for a very long while and I was super nervous, I believe it the dentist was called Liam and unfortunately I didn’t get the assistants name. They were both so lovely, thank you so much for looking after me and calming my nerves. If anybody is thinking of joining, do it, this practice is fantastic.

Fantastic experience: I visited today for my first non-routine treatment at Calm and Gentle. This was a minor procedure on one of my wisdom teeth. Adel was very gentle and carried out the treatment carefully and painlessly. I'm never particularly keen to attend the dentist and Calm and Gentle always do their best to make it a comfortable experience.

Fantastic experience: If you are someone that suffers with severe anxiety when it comes to dentists i highly reccomend this clinic ! They were so patient and loving towards me and took it at my own pace ! I would 100% pay privately for this dentist as the kindness alone is worth the money !

Negative experience: EDIT....Well, I have been on a journey getting my smile beautiful for my upcoming wedding! I now have a smile I am no longer afraid to hide, which looks so natural no-one would guess it's the handiwork of a clearly experienced and conscientious dentist! Many thanks to Fariba, Lilli, Vanessa and the rest of the team. .... That WAS my review until I experienced permanent dental disfigurement at a subsequent appointment where she gave me a diastema with her tools. I wrote to ask for an appointment, apology and refund to have this fixed elsewhere and was told "my teeth moved due to gum disease". I was so shocked and traumatised and the GDC said I was too late to complain. I have since spent another 800 on repair. It is impossible for teeth to move in that way. Her huge over compensating letter explaining this "it wasn't me" diatribe quite frankly insulting and sadly I was not strong enough at the time to fight it. Do not let Fariba near your teeth. I am now going to fight this.

Fantastic experience: Went to see Liam today . Alot of work to do and he explained what really needed doing. He would not start or do anything until I was ready . At the end of the day he said it was my choice not his. He gave me a total price of work needed and it was still my choice. His nurse , Leanne I believe was her name was also VERY reassuring and comforting. I was there and although , as a nervous patient I wanted to walk out it was still my choice. They cracked on and still didn't start until I was ready. The first extraction was the worse as it was very awkward, I felt the pain and he stopped untill i was ready to continue. I must say Liam and Leanne are a credit to the dental profession and if anyone wants to find caring people, give them a call. The only thing I say is they ask for a deposit upfront , but this is probably because people in the past have made appointments and not turned up. Last thing , the ladies on reception are also very friendly and understanding of peoples nerves when they visit the dentist

Negative experience: Unfriendly receptionist - who hadn't sent the medical history form to me, but didn't seem to believe me when I said I hadn't received it. £84.50 for an appointment which felt very rushed. I had to choose between having a lost filling being investigated or a standard check up, I couldn't have both due to lack of time ( I was barely in there 15 minutes). The dentist came across as irritable (thinly disguised) and impatient. When I came to book the follow up appointment on my way out, the dentist hadn't emailed through the right information to reception which seemed to cause confusion. No apology from the receptionist who again, seemed put out. The only pleasant staff member seemed to be the dental nurse who was smiley and kind. Not what I expected. And very different to how I remembered this practice from a few years back.

Fantastic experience: I have a lot of anxiety and fear of dental treatment due to a dental testament way back when. Today yet again at Calm and Gentle they do what it says they’ll do. It was professional, kind and caring and gentle for an old filling to be removed and a new one put in place. I still felt my body tense and my heart rate rise and just imagined myself in a favourite beach. Highly recommend C&G. Quality treatment and care. No it’s not cheap. But I’m hoping in future proofing my dental health for my older age.

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased that Calm and Gentle lived up to expectations following a recommendation from our son who is also a client. We however live in France and my dentist retired and unable to find another dentist we decided to return to the UK to deal with a shattered tooth and some other problems. Of course this is not a straightforward task as it involved over 1000 km of travel, a boat crossing to Newhaven and 3 nights in a local Travelodge. Calm and Gentle provided excellent treatment and also managed to complete all the initial important dental work in the two days we were in the UK (thanks for finding the extra time on day 2). The dentist provided detailed explanations and communicated with me at all stages throughout the treatment. We will return late September to complete the planned treatment. Hopefully in the longer term we will find a new dentist here in France but Calm and Gentle certainly delivered on this occasion and I look forward to using them again when necessary in the future.

Positive experience: **Update*** Been through some changes. Worked hard to ensure quality maintained. However...subscription a bit hit and miss. Not every six months and hygienist no longer aligned to tag onto dentist appointment, itself over and done with in just 10 minutes. Previously kept waiting over 30 mins to see dentist It feels like previous high standards are starting to slip. Three years ago (moved on since): *** I cannot speak highly enough of Calm and Gentle Dental Care. I had been on borrowed time with a large back tooth and it was down to root canal or an extraction. After a truly terrible and exceptionally painful experience elsewhere attempting root canal surgery, my confidence was completely shattered. I took the plunge and booked myself in with Calm and Gentle opting for an extraction. From the outset Calm and Gentle could not have been more caring and professional. This was not an easy procedure and yet Dr. Bell (sic now retired and no longer working for Calm and Gentle) simply took it in his stride. When he said there may be a little pain, there was none. I asked when the extraction would be finished and he calmly stated that it was already done and was in the process of adding some extra stitches for good measure! Better still when the painkillers wore off all I experienced was a mild soreness and a few days later, my teeth now feel better than ever before! 100% score for professionalism, bedside manner and quality of service. I'll be back for regular dental maintenance for sure. Thank you.
