Fantastic experience: Same.day appointment, bit of an emergency, first dentist visit in over 40 years, was I nervous, terrified, scared witless, YES but I was put at ease straight away, firstly by the reception staff.then by the dentist herself, absolutely great, cannot thank them all enough

Fantastic experience: Lovely surgery. I had a broke a tooth Sunday before Christmas and they were able to give me a temp filling before Christmas. Always polite and friendly

Positive experience: I have been with the practice for more than 15 years. Many different dentists have been and gone, but Fatima is absolutely amazing. She is professional, attentive, caring and will give honest and constructive advice/opinions. She has made time to see me and my children when I have been very late due to living an hour away. She is a rare gem with a kind and caring soul. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the receptionists, who are some of the worst I have ever experienced. They are inconsiderate, unprofessional with a discourteous manner. Fatima deserves maximum stars, but receptionists get below 0.

Fantastic experience: Always such a good service at this dental practice. The lovely Fatima is simply wonderful. First time taking my daughter (9 months) and the care and advice was great. Lovely to be encouraged to bring her from so early on so going to the dentist isn’t seen as anything to be afraid of. The dental nurses and receptionists are always helpful too. So happy to go here and recommend to others.

Fantastic experience: I would like to say a big thank you to Sadia javed and Her Indian assistant at Bedford Dental Practice, especially when they hold my crying baby for a while during procedure . I was in so much pain over the weeks due to a cavity in my tooth , and they managed to fit me in today morning,they fixed my other tooth aswell and did cleaning of my lower front teeth. From the moment I arrived, everyone made me feel comfortable and well looked after. The procedure was quick and painless ,they numbed me up and did the filling of the affected tooth, and I’ve had no pain since. I’m truly grateful for the wonderful care I received. Thank you to such an amazing and caring team especially “Sadia Javed”. They have co-operated with my baby .its really appreciated to keep patience with my daughter.Thanks again.

Negative experience: Always running late and never informed before hand of the delayed schedule. Had to wait over 20 minutes for the last appointment

Positive experience: I was with BDP for years. The last three appointments (every 6 months) I had to wait extra 30-40 minutes. It seems to me that this is normal practice for them. They used to be good before, now it is ridiculous. I also have other stuff to do instead of sitting and waiting- what is the point of booking an appointment for a specific time? Today I had to wait an extra 45 minutes

Negative experience: My son had an appt today which was at 3:30pm he wasn’t seen until just gone 4pm! Why is there such a long waiting time? Yet we get constant reminders not to be late for the appt but then wait for half an hour! When my son was waiting to be seen by the receptionist, as he approached her there was no smile, no “ sorry to keep you waiting” no “ how are you” nothing! Just “ what’s your name”. As front line staff they should have good customer service skills when they are approached by patients. When I have come to the practice I have also been approached in the same manner! It feels like they just don’t want to be there! Maybe this should be taken into consideration, as it’s a total put off when approaching them.

Fantastic experience: Always polite, friendly and professional. This week the poor reception is was on her own and it was constantly incredibly busy with the phone ringing in the background. She stayed calm and courteous and got everything done in good time! Hats off to her. Must have been a bit frustrating for people phoning in but when I've emailed or left a phone message, they've always got back quickly.

Negative experience: Cancelled my appointment without notice as 1 of their had left them (not supprised) then cancelled me of their list, bad attitude n very unprofessional would not recommend

Negative experience: I have found it difficult to speak to anyone on the phone. I always have to wait for beyond my appointment time. Last time my deposit that l always pay for a hygienist was questioned and l had a significant amount of water was running down my neck! But trying to find another dentist is like gold dust!

Negative experience: Beware of any deposits you are asked to pay for your bookings at this practice. I had a credit of £20 that was never acknowledged when I came for my appointment several weeks later. Make sure you only pay once you have received the treatment in question.

Fantastic experience: I have had a fear of dentists after a horrific experience about 12 years ago where I was left with nueralgia over my whole head, jaw and neck for 3 months, and I felt suicidal until I went for acupuncture and it went away instantly, and have never been able to find a dentist since that I feel comfortable with since. From the very 1st appointment I had with Hamza, I can not tell you how at ease I felt. I have to have 3 teeth out and was absoloutly terrified beyond belief until I had my appointment with him. I have never found such a compassionate, gentle and kind dentist like Hamza. He explained everything so clearly to me, and completley put my mind at rest, I am still scared about having my 3 teeth out in a couple of weeks, but I know I will be in excellent hands. Thank you Hamza, I appreciate your kindness and compassion more than you will EVER know.

Fantastic experience: I've never been particularly moved to write a review for a Dental Practice but I have been with them for some years now and have had nothing but good experiences. I come regularly for hygiene & dental checkups. Since the time I have started using them they have made some pretty significant changes to the services they offer, but they are all very positive and have impressed me. They have offered private appointments for the same cost as the NHS Bands, allowed online booking for appointments, extended the times they are open and started doing appointments on Saturday. As difficult as dental services are on the NHS, Bedford Dental Practice definitely is doing their bit to make a difference in the right way. The receptionists are always very friendly and the dental/hygienist professionals are as well.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend. So friendly. Rang up for an emergency appointment and was seen within half an hour. Dentist was kind and talked me through everything which helped with my anxiety. Could not fault this place.

Positive experience: Staff are all nice. Dentist was nice but my recent review was extremely brief & information & actions to follow was delivered with a cold attitude until they said goodbye. My previous visit l left in tears as the dentist failed to understand the distress l was in. Empathy was not shown / no follow up - no concern. Possibly why this visit was met with a cold reception. I was not asked he I’m doing now with my pain. Denise clearly didn’t want to ask though notes must have been made! However, the practice over the years has been great with their services.

Fantastic experience: The staff here have always offered my brother and I an exceptional service. Fatima our dentist and Ramandeep our hygienist are very kind and caring. They always go that extra mile with my brother Andrew who has learning difficulties and always explain to me what they have done and what further action is required for Andrew as he cannot reliably take a message. They allow me to sit in the room with him during his treatment to put him more at ease. They have built up a rappor with Andrew that makes him feel more settled.

Negative experience: My son had a routine check up appointment with Fatima. Fatima was so rude, she spoke over me whilst I was talking to her to which I had to ask her to listen to me. Fatima’s manner is very condescending and did not listen to what we were saying or the advice we had already been given. Safe to say we will not be seeing her again for any check ups going forward.

Negative experience: I have waited a few weeks to write this review, so as not to appear like an angry ex-patient. The service I received from BDP was appalling in the last few weeks of my treatments there. I don't think any of this has come from a bad place, but I do think they have too many patients and not enough time. I essentially had a hygienist appointment that knocked some of my filling out of a wisdom tooth. I tried several times to rebook a date for it to be fixed, my tooth was becoming infected, so I pressed upon them the need to see me sooner. Every appointment offered was weeks later, when I did get one, in truth, I turned up on the wrong day (which I later apologized for) only then to be offered an appointment 2 weeks later. I was seen for a pointless emergency appointment as Kunal was away (usual Dentist and very good) the receptionists do not help the situation with poor customer handling and always seeming a bit off, the appointment cost me £50 upwards, and I was only told to 'keep filling the tooth with the temporary filling you bought from a pharmacy'. I was then told to come back but I couldn't get an appointment with my regular dentist for weeks. I also sent an email of complaint that has had no response, from anyone. I assume they probably need to trim their customers. I am now at a new dentist and the service there has been far, far, better.

Fantastic experience: Oh my goodness. The care my daughter received today was second to none! She needed a last minute tooth extraction and our dentist was so kind and walked her through every step, pausing to answer her questions and checking in with her every few moments. Thank you Kunal!

Fantastic experience: Both my husband and I have been using the Bedford Dental Practice for around 10 years, during which time we have found them to be a very professional and helpful practice. During this time we have had various dentists but since Fatima Rugla has been there we have received treatment from her. She is always the same very pleasant and polite and we have every confidence in her treatment and advice.

Fantastic experience: After a long absence due to lockdowns and being cautious around Covid I had an appointment with Kunil Shar. I have to say he was very polite, well mannered and extremely attentive when checking over the condition of my teeth and gums and his professionalism and advice was really reassuring.

Fantastic experience: The best dentist I've ever used. Dr Kunal Shah is superb, and I look forward to seeing him for my treatment. All the dentistry he has performed on me has been excellent, he is very careful and thoughtful when carrying out his work, and any possible discomfort is kept to an absolute minimum. I've never had any pain during or after any work has been done, even after a tooth extraction! My teeth are in the best shape they've ever been, thanks to Dr Shah. The reception staff are also very friendly and efficient, and a pleasure to deal with. The only downside is due to being so busy, a wait for a normal appointment is quite long, but I don't personally find that an issue.

Negative experience: My dentist, Kunal Shah is great, no problem there. But last December I had to reschedule an appointment over the phone and last month the practice had to reschedule an appointment over the phone. On both occasions when I arrived at the practice for the rebooked appointment, they had deleted it from their system with no explanation. I know the mistake wasn't mine as I had SMS reminders. A total of 1h30, wasted. 40 miles driving, wasted. Do I have to worry that every time I go to the dentist my appointment won't exist? Because for two of the last three visits, that has been the case.

Fantastic experience: Seen by Kunal. As always, his treatment was first class and actually makes going to the dentist enjoyable and something to look forward to. The support team are all incredibly helpful and give the practise a very professional atmosphere. They are so good that I managed to convince a dental phobic friend to sign up and she has been equally impressed.

Fantastic experience: While my initial appointment had to be move back a couple of day I found the staff very helpful and friendly. I was made to feel comfortable throughout the surgery and I can't fault the service provided. Would definitely recommend. A+

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I have been with the surgery for years but I am forever having my appointments cancelled via text with no alternative dates provided. On calling them they can only book in for next January 2023 if you do not want to take your children out of school. They do not have Saturday appointments and whilst staff are polite they really need to look at how they structure their surgery.

Fantastic experience: Such amazing friendly service. I had a very bad tooth that caused my face to swell. I called and emailed at least 4 dentist and this was the only one that got back to me. Elaine was very helpful and although they couldn't help me at first due to no availability they had a cancellation and Elaine called me to let me know a space was available and i was seen within 20min of her call. Will 100% use these as my local dentist from now. Thank you again.

Negative experience: Well it would seem this Dentist practice is quick to take money for treatment they cannot provide, yet very very slow to issue a refund when required, waited 4 months now and still no joy! UPDATE: received a refund at last but not the full amount originally paid, they have now struck me off their patient list so seeking a new NHS Dentist

Positive experience: Treatment is fine. My main criticism is that I receive at least two reminders before my appointment ( I understand that people forget) but when I arrive 5 minutes early, I still end up waiting at least 15 minutes after my appointment time before I am summoned. I also understand that you’re busy but a simple acknowledgment or apology for the wait would go a long way but no, it is ignored. Real example: 9.15am appointment, not seen until after 9.30. No apology, just two reminders to tell ME not to be late…Why is there already a knock on delay at 9.15am?

Fantastic experience: Kunal has been my dentist for a number of years now and is the nicest and friendliest dentist you could wish for. His work is second to none and will always take the time to find out what works best for you and deliver a great service. Can’t recommend him enough.

Positive experience: I have been coming here for years, I like it, and the parking is convenient, however I called to book a regular check up today and the soonest they could see me was July 2022! What is happening?!

Negative experience: Terrible. Went in on an emergency appointment because a filling had come out. Still took over a month to get this appointment. Then when I got there after a 50 minute wait. Dentist told me my filling had come out. I said yes I know that’s why I have come. But after having a look and making it worse. Dentist said he couldn’t fix it today. As they had not booked me in for a long enough appointment. Started telling me it was all to do with COVID why he couldn’t do it as it takes longer now as he has to wear special clothes to use a drill. So when I went back out to see the receptionist. They couldn’t see me for another 6 weeks. So as he had made it worse. I then had to go to another dentist and pay privately . I’m still not convinced he would of even done anything the next time I went back. As he didn’t even do an X-ray to see what he needed to do. That is the first thing the other dentist did. And I had to pay them £25 for doing nothing.

Negative experience: Very hard to get through to reception when calling. Dentists are fine but extremely difficult to book an appointment or speak to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Had my first appointment here yesterday. Signing up was so easy, the receptionist who helped me (Chloe) responded really quickly and was so helpful. Once my appointment arrived, I was seen quickly and Dr Shah and his dental assistant, were really friendly and put my mind at ease. A great experience overall.

Fantastic experience: My Dentist at the Surgery , Fatima Ruqia , is really one of the best dentists I have ever encountered, really explains the process and takes into account my phobias, she’s a real asset to that practice , I thoroughly recommend her to anyone who has issues

Fantastic experience: I was very pleased with the care taken by the dentist over my recent dental inspection. In spite of having seen an accident on the motorway on the way to work, and being shocked and upset by being late, he showed the usual high level of care and concern over the condition of my teeth as well as my general level of health. If going to the dentist can ever be a pleasant experience. then this was one!

Fantastic experience: Having had reason to visit both for some dental surgery and a trip to the hygienist, I am very pleased. I have been a patient here for a number of years and more recently have noticed how clean, well organised and caring it is as a practice (from my personal experience). Kunal (Dentist) and Zoe (Hygienist) backed up by a cracking group of dental nurses and reception team, have been brilliant. Thank you to them. I appreciate everyone is different but my experience, having read some earlier reviews, has only been positive throughout. Well done to all involved in running a great dental practice.

Negative experience: If I could give no stars I would.....Absolutely disgusting attempting to extort money from people during a pandemic.I rang to make an appointment as I have a broken tooth and despite being registered as an NHS patient with them was informed they could only see me as a Private patient. Receptionist was rude and lied about notifying me that I had been advised I would no longer be considered as a NHS patient as I hadn’t attended lately .....considering dentists were closed for a long time of course I hadn’t attended ......complaint lodged with The NHS ....avoid at all costs.

Fantastic experience: Have been with this practice for nearly 25 years. Under new management nowadays, but still providing excellent service. Unfortunately I needed to have a tooth extracted last week and Harry did a really good job- very reassuring and I hardly felt a thing. The admin here is always good- patients receive email and text reminders or a phone call if the appointment needs to be changed. Receptionists are polite and friendly. I'm happy to recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: I've had some lengthy wait times which can be very frustrating when during work hours or with a child but as far as the dental work goes I am very satisfied. The staff are friendly, caring and supportive and I feel much more at ease about visiting a dentist since I started with this practise. A vast improvement on my last surgery and I am very pleased to be a patient here

Positive experience: Been with this practice for years and can’t fault my dentist Kunal Shar, the receptionist on the other hand are awful. They are rude, unapproachable and certainly not a good first point of contact. When I visited the other day, not one of them smiled or greeted me in any way, and One of the girls was eating her lunch in full view of the patients.
