Fantastic experience: I have been a patient with Horfield Dental Care for over 25 years. Throughout this time I have always found the quality of service to be excellent. After 40+ years of living with a very crooked smile, I took the plunge this year to get something done about it. I spoke to my Dentist, Mr Phillip Chan, expecting to be told it would be a major job, require surgery and cost thousands. To my surprise (and relief) it was a much simpler process than I had imagined and cost a fraction of what I'd expected. I'm not exaggerating when I say that the result has been life changing. It has improved my confidence no end and I no longer hide away when people are taking photos. I can't thank Phil and his team enough for the years of incredible service I have received and, most recently, my brand new smile.

Fantastic experience: I have received a number of treatments from Phil over the years, including Invisalign and Enlighten, and I am delighted with the results. My son has also been visiting Phil since he was just a year old, and he has always looked forward to his dental appointments. Phil and his team are outstanding, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. We are truly fortunate to have such an excellent dentist here in North Bristol.

Fantastic experience: I visited Horfield Dental Care today for an amalgam filling on one of my molars and I cannot fault the experience from start to finish one bit! The woman I dealt with at reception called Bridie was very friendly and gave me a warm welcome to the practice which would settle anyone’s nerves about coming to the dentist! Hannah and Chloe are extremely professional at their jobs and make you feel at ease from the minute you walk in the room. Hannah is very precise and delicate with the way she works, I barely felt a thing when she injected my gums with the anaesthetic needle when usually you would feel quite a sharp scratch/pain! Her and Chloe both work well together and maintain a professional attitude at all times which gives you confidence that you’re in the right place for the work you need doing. Overall, I’m very impressed with the whole experience and the practice are lucky to have such brilliant employees working for them!

Negative experience: Booked a regular hygiene appointment and they did half of the job! They did the scaling on half of my mouth and no polishing at all. They told me it will need 3 sessions to clean it all.. I have seen many dentists in my life and I've never had anyone telling me that I need 3 sessions for scaling and polishing! The way I see it, they advertise hygiene at £60, which is slightly cheaper than other dentists in the area, but then they ask you to pay 3 times that amount! Also the hygienist initially told me that it's normal to have deposits as they are in places I cannot reach by myself and it had nothing to do with what I do at home.. then, 2 minutes later, when I wasn't happy with the fact that I didn't get any polishing she said that it was my fault for not having a proper hygiene at home! Very disappointing!

Fantastic experience: Going to a dentist appointment feels like a facial massage at times with Dr Chan. Relaxing music, warm welcome, aromatherapy. All is here for reassurance. Highly recommended, obviously.

Fantastic experience: I recently was tested for a dead tooth, and was advised my bottom front tooth had died despite no cavity or decay. As it was my front tooth and I'm young, I was referred to Francesca Norton, who is about to finish her education in endodontics, for a root canal. The consultation was extremely informative, she was incredibly professional and put me at ease. I was VERY nervous for the procedure, never even had a filling! But she was extremely calm, talked me through the whole thing, explained everything she was doing, took her time. She put me at ease but also gave me all the information I needed and answered all the questions I had. The root canal was almost completely painless and comfortable. It has so far been successful, she has done a fantastic job of saving my front tooth which had died due to trauma. I would highly recommend her, she was brilliant. Fantastic experience: Wow. This may seem over the top, but trust me this is so honest. I’m almost 40 years old and have always hated going to the dentist. Not just because of the potential pain and discomfort etc. I’ve always really struggled talking to dentists, they are often so straight and boring, they actually make me feel awkward! Time is seems so precious, and everything is always so rushed. I reached out to Phil, and asked about my options of having nicer, larger and straighter teeth. Not once did I feel like I was being sold too! When I’ve approached other dentists (several) it’s always been complicated and expensive solutions, like Invisalign or veneers etc, when I express my lack of interest towards them, the dentists switch off and loose interest and shut the conversation down! Phil suggested composite veneers, something I had asked about previously with other dentists, and been shot down as they said it couldn’t be done. Phil actually sat with me and talked openly and honestly about what I wanted, and what he could achieve, and I’ve left there today with a real spring in my step, and I can’t stop checking my smile. This has completely changed my view of dentists! This is actually the first review I’ve ever written on google, but felt I had to share it.

Fantastic experience: I have recently had treatment with Francesca Norton for a re-root treatment and despite feeling very anxious I can honestly say the experience was made much easier by the kind and patient approach that Fran provided and her persistent diligent work has hopefully resulted in saving my front tooth! I would highly recommend for anyone needing similar treatment.

Fantastic experience: Without doubt the best dentist I have ever had. I was never a good patient (very nervous and would even avoid going). All the staff were extremely friendly, kind and professional throughout. I now go regularly and can honestly say I look forward to going if it means I get a nice polish! All the staff, from the receptionists to the hygenists to the dentists are just amazing! Negative experience: First of all I have paid £ 180 pound deposited which surgery denied that I have paid, on another occasion same situation when I am being ask to pay for a deposit I have already paid, which lady on reception eventually say sorry and admitted that I was right. Called twice for emergency treatment which I was told to wait 2 weeks. On a visit when I was addressing problem I've been rushed and told the doctor doesn't have time to look at it beside I was waiting for appointment. Besides being registered as a NHS patient they made me pay full prices for a treatment. Left nearly 3 of my wages in this surgery being NHS patient. So be aware and take proof of all payment u make.

Negative experience: Cancelled my appointment without telling me. I booked the appointment online and received three texts and three emails confirming my appointment, my dentist, as well as a reminder. I booked a day off work, and it was only when I turned up on the day, I was told the appointment had been cancelled. Apparently they had left me a voicemail. Maybe they did, but I have no record of it, and even so, how can you think it is appropriate to send all these messages by text and email confirming my appointment, but not one to tell me its been cancelled? The reason my appointment was cancelled was because I haven't been in a while so apparently I have to reregister as a patient. Fine, but then why was I allowed to make the appointment in the first place? I did it all through their online system, surely that would know if I am a patient or not! Ruth on reception, who I spoke to today and who allegedly left me the voicemail, was curt and unhelpful and, without a whiff of an apology, immediately started telling me the fee for reregistering. If this is the policy of the practice, I think they need to urgently update their process, otherwise, they may need to rethink their reception staff. Which is a shame, because when I used to regularly, the dentists themselves were always very good.

Fantastic experience: I am really happy with my new filling that Andrew did. I was quite anxious about getting it done but Andrew and his team member were great. Very considerate and wonderful manner. Really impressed with the quality of work they performed also.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Horfield Dental Care and particularly Hannah enough. I suffered from a traumatic dental experience from a previous dentist which left me with a severe phobia of going to the dentist. The friendly receptionists and Hannah are slowly helping me overcome my phobia and have been nothing but kind and patient with me. The rooms are bright and clean and I've had a few treatments so far which haven't been painful. I'm so grateful.

Fantastic experience: I've always had a bit of a phobia of dental treatment, but this dental practice is hands down the best I have ever been to. I've been to see Phil on numerous occasions, and have had various procedures (including root canal therapy after an emergency appointment for an absolutely agonising abscess). The treatment is second to none, value for money and delivered in a friendly reassuring way. The hygienist is just as good.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this practice since I was a little girl so over 25 years ago and have been seeing Phil who is the Principal Dentist for over 10 years. He is such a great dentist who always makes me feel at ease and comfortable. I am having an issue with one of my front teeth from an accident when I was little and he has recommended a teeth whitening process where we highlight the tooth which is an issue and get that to match the rest of my teeth and then whitening them all together at the same time as the tooth with the issue has become discoloured which has knocked my confidence. This is working really well and would definitely recommend Phil and his dental practice to all new customers. All the staff are lovely :) ⭐️

Negative experience: After some issues with fillings - one side ached (which can be normal after a deep filling) and the other side left a new gap between the bottom teeth. I rang as I wanted this checked. I was told I would be charged for a new appointment. I was disappointed with this service, especially as I wanted to look at problems caused after an already expensive appointment

Fantastic experience: My local dentist is called Louise Long. She is an excellent dentist and I am pleased with how reassuring and attentive she is while I am in her care. She offers very good advice and provides me with all the necessary information that I need regarding my dental hygiene. Thanks Louise! :)

Fantastic experience: I dont regularly do reviews but I felt I needed to. Due to the pandemic I was struck off my other dental practice. I was extremely lucky to get in to Horfield Dental Care, and am now actually pleased I was struck off my last practice. I am an extremely nervous dentist patient and Jo, my dentist, was absolutely amazing...patient, careful, made sure I wasn't in any pain and gave me as much time as I needed when having treatment! Also, have to say how great the reception staff, very cheerful and professional, again,polar opposits to my last dental practice.

Negative experience: Just had a hygiene appointment no problems at all, when paying I was advised I would have to pay a £20 deposit to be able to book an appointment 6 months in advanced, I declined to book the appointment with such terms, why should I be penalised when I attend all appointments on time, or have the courtesy to reschedule with plenty of notice. So you've now lost me booking a 6month follow up appointment, and when I got home and mentioned to my wife, she told me she had the exact same happened on her last visit for hygienist, and also didn't book a 6 month follow up appointment for the same reason of being asked and declining to pay a £20 deposit, all due because others miss or don't reschedule appointments. So you've lost 2 appointments, and unless the policy changes, we will not be booking appointments, shame as we've no reason other than this to start looking for another dentist. Does not seem to be a great time in a cost of living crisis to change policy as this increase the bill by approx 50% even if deposit.

Fantastic experience: Had my teeth checked and cleaned by hygenist Lisa from Wales. She was wonderful, pleasant and had a light hand which meant hardly any pain when cleaning drill tool used. Her assitant was just as helpful. Very happy with Dental clinic. The previous hygenist I had was horrible and rude. Was glad with change asked for. Had another hygenist visit today (9/12/22). Alla did the cleaning process. Wonderful work. Careful and good work done.

Fantastic experience: I've been finding it incredibly difficult to find the 'right' dentist to get my teeth sorted at the best quality possible. I will be honest and say that i have neglected by oral care over the years and had a fear of the dentist since a child. Now, that I'm much older, I am grateful to have found this dental centre. The receptionist and staff are lovely at the branch, it was quick and efficient to sign up as a private patient and get a booking in place. Especially with the difficulty it is now to sign up as a patient many places. It is very fairly priced as well. Simon Cottell was my chosen dentist at the branch after reading through the our team section. I was highly impressed with the gentleness, professionalism and the clarity he goes through when talking about my dental plan. Very patient and made me feel very at ease when visiting. The knowledge and high quality workmanship is fantastic. As long as he's a dentist, I will forever be his patient! A real credit to the branch!
