Negative experience: I recently moved to this area and signed myself and my partner up with this dental practice. The reception staff who is also the dental nurse is very nice. However, I feel the dentist isn't so great, which has been confirmed with the many negative reviews which have been left here. I had a temporary filling put in, it fell out a week later. I called today to try and book back in to have a replacement as I am experience sensitivity. I was told the dentist is on leave for the next 8 days and there is no other dentist registered at this practice so there is nothing they can do. My partner also had a negative experience during her assessment. She has had horrible with her wisdom tooth for some time now. It makes it hard to eat, it is painful and it is causing sensitivity in the nearby tooth. The dentist said she will not remove the wisdom tooth, that it doesn't meet the guidelines for removal - despite the pain my partner is in. She also stated that she would like us both to see a hygienist and tried to pressure us into booking in with the hygeinst there and then. The price was nearly £100 each for a hygeinst appointment which is the highest price I have ever been given. I have looked around and found many other dentist offering hygeinst appointments at £65, which is much more affordable. I have now decided to sign us both up to a new dentist - I'm sure we will have a more positive experience elsewhere.

We are pleased to hear that you found our reception team welcoming and supportive. However, we are sorry to learn that you were disappointed with other aspects of your visit.
Regarding the temporary filling, by their nature temporary restorations are not intended to be long-term solutions and can occasionally dislodge. This can depend on the size and position of the cavity as well as normal chewing forces. Patients are advised of this at the time of placement.
When you contacted us, you were informed that the treating dentist was on annual leave. You were offered an appointment within a couple of days, or alternatively advised to contact NHS 111 should you require more urgent assistance. Patients experiencing discomfort are always provided with interim advice and, where appropriate, directed to NHS 111 for urgent care support.
Our reception team made several attempts to contact you and offered multiple appointments to complete your treatment; however, these were declined. We remain happy to arrange a review appointment should you wish to proceed.
With respect to the wisdom tooth, NHS guidelines clearly state that extractions can only be carried out when specific clinical criteria are met, such as active infection, non-restorable decay, or repeated episodes of acute pericoronitis. At the time of your appointment, you advised that your symptoms had subsided. It was therefore agreed to continue monitoring the tooth and to review the need for referral should the clinical condition change. At that stage, the criteria for referral were not met.
In relation to hygiene appointments, these are entirely optional. Recommendations are made based on clinical findings to support long-term gum health, and there is no obligation to proceed. Our hygiene appointments include full Supra- and Subgingival cleaning, periodontal debridement where required, and comprehensive stain removal. Fees reflect the scope of treatment provided, the time allocated, and the clinician’s expertise. While some practices may advertise lower fees per visit, multiple appointments are often required to achieve the same level of treatment, particularly in cases involving significant staining, such as tobacco staining.
We would also like to clarify that both you and your partner were accommodated promptly with NHS registration and next-day appointments, despite not having attended a dentist for several years. We always strive to provide timely access to care within the limitations of NHS capacity.

Negative experience: Really wouldn’t recommend this dentist. I moved to the area, needed a checkup. They told me i needed a filling and I was doing a poor job of maintaining my teeth. They pressured me into booking in for a filling then and there. After researching the dentist further, I cancelled my appointment and visited my old dentist when I visited my parents home. They confirmed my teeth were in completely fine condition and I didn’t need any fillings at that time. Really concerning behaviour…

During your visit, your X-rays revealed areas of caries, and based on these findings, a filling and appropriate treatment were offered to protect your oral health.
We respect every patient’s decision regarding their care, and it is always your choice to seek a second opinion. Different dentists may have different assessments, but our recommendations were made based on the findings from your X-rays and the purpose of your visit: to examine your teeth, carry out investigations, and provide a full report on your dental and gum health. Once patients are fully informed, it is ultimately their choice whether to proceed with treatment.

You were examined, X-rayed and fully assessed during your visit. Based on your symptoms and clinical findings at the time, **root canal treatment was strongly recommended** as the appropriate option. You **chose to proceed with a filling instead**, despite being advised that it might not resolve the underlying issue. This was clearly explained before any treatment was carried out.
When you returned for your complimentary review appointment a month later, you reported ongoing pain, and **root canal treatment was again advised**. No additional charges were made for this review.

Negative experience: One star is too generous, I was ripped off by Dr Zahraa - overpaid for a filling I didn’t even receive. I should have realised when I didn’t receive a treatment plan. I have since been for a second opinion and now require treatment to rectify the dental work I had done at Smile, and to have the filling I did not receive but paid for. They have ignored my attempts to call and email the practice to discuss this. Avoid at all costs!

Negative experience: I would echo the statements made by DomD. I have been a customer of Smile for over a decade but when Zahra took over the experience took a turn for the worse - I feel totally scammed by a dentist with the wrong priorities. My first check up with her, she told me that I needed 8 fillings, I should have got a second opinion but thought ok maybe she has high standards. I paid 1,400 pounds for the fillings, which were done in one go. The fillings were done in a slapdash way so I can no longer floss between the teeth, but most importantly, she introduced chronic pain and sensitivity where there was none before. I went back to her twice to have her check, thinking this can't be right. She told me it was normal, but weeks later I was still in pain and she just put some temporary putty on it to stop the sensitivity for a while. I was unable to chew on one side of my mouth, and was extremely sensitive to hot and cold. 18 months on, I still have to chew on the other side of my mouth, still can't floss properly, and still have sensitivity. I gave up going back to her for a resolution. Despite complaining to them, I still receive calls from their receptionist to which I respond ARE YOU KIDDING ME, I HAVE TOLD YOU REPEATEDLY THAT I HAVE LEFT YOU. She gives the dental experience a bad name. I imagine that any good reviews Smile has predate her arrival.

Negative experience: Avoid at all costs, my elderly dad attended this dental practice he wanted an appointment for implants instead he was given a check up which he should have been entitled to NHS checkup but was conned in to paying 65.00 there was no treatment plan or anything he had know idea what he had to go back for. Terrible service and way to treat vulnerable patients.
We have carefully reviewed your comments regarding your father’s care at our practice. We must clarify that you are not a registered patient, you have not attended any appointments with your father, and we have no evidence linking you to any patient record at our practice. Consequently, your claims regarding his treatment are entirely unfounded.
If your father is registered as a private patient, all charges would have been explained to him prior to his appointment. All discussions regarding treatment options were carried out with his informed consent. so any suggestion that he was entitled to an NHS check-up or that he was “conned” is both incorrect and misleading.
Our practice takes the care of all patients seriously and operates with full transparency regarding fees, appointments, and treatment plans. We always explain the charges before booking any appointment, and your father should confirm this. We strongly encourage that any concerns about patient care be raised directly by the registered patient to ensure accuracy and appropriate handling.
Negative experience: Please avoid this dentist at all costs. I don’t usually write reviews, but I feel obligated to share my experience so no one else has to go through what I did. In November 2024, I needed a new dentist in London and booked an appointment at Smile Clinic. I expected some dental work would be needed, as I hadn’t had a full check-up in a while due to travelling. At the first appointment, Dr. Zahraa told me I needed multiple fillings and recommended doing 4 back teeth in one sitting. I was hesitant, as I have a weak jaw and struggle to keep my mouth open for long periods. She reassured me, saying she’d start with 2 teeth and check in to see if I could manage the rest. But she never checked with me during the procedure. She just rushed through all 4 teeth aggressively. During the procedure, she drilled into the corner of my mouth, causing a painful injury and leaving a hole. She never acknowledged it or apologized. I was in shock from the pain and only realized the extent of the damage when I got home in the mirror. Throughout the procedure, she was in a hurry completely misjudged the time needed for the treatment…tossing tools onto my chest and transferring all her stress onto me. The dental nurse, was also tired and stopped properly holding the suction tube, letting it dig painfully into the soft tissue under my tongue. I was left with painful wounds that lasted for days. I left the clinic in disbelief.. processing what had just happened?! That night and the next day I was on painkillers, my mouth was extremely sore, especially where the anaesthetic had been injected. My gums were red and swollen, and I developed white patches under my tongue and inside my cheeks. It felt like I had been beaten up. I’ve never had such a traumatic experience with a dentist in my life. In January 2025 - just two months later - one of the teeth treated by Dr. Zahraa required an emergency root canal. I don’t blame her for that specifically, as the tooth was already weak. But the endodontist at EndoCare Harley Street (whom I highly recommend!) discovered that the filling Dr. Zahraa did was leaking and had to be redone before placing a crown. That filling was done at Smile Clinic in November 2024 - and I had paid a significant amount for it. I had initially chosen Smile Clinic under the NHS to save money, but I quickly learned that paying a little more for private care elsewhere means being treated like a human being - not a number on a conveyor belt. I wanted to put this horrible experience behind me. But then today, in July 2025, I received a call from Smile Clinic receptionist saying that I have an appointment tomorrow at 10am and that if I don’t show up, I’d be removed from the NHS database. I completely lost it! The audacity. I never made or agreed to that appointment, and after what I went through, I would never return. This felt like a pressure tactic - contacting NHS patients and threatening removal from the database to force attendance, just to bill for unprofessional and unethical treatment that caused me more harm than good! So before any claims are made suggesting that I was never a patient or that there’s some kind of misunderstanding, I’m including dated photos including one from today’s call with the receptionist, which was the final straw.

Negative experience: Dr Zahrau is the most manipulative and money hungry dentist I have ever met in my life. It is my second time I have seen her. On my first visit few years back she told me that a filling in my no.2 tooth will cost me over £ 280.0, when I was claiming Universal Credit. It should be free. But she insisted I have to pay if I want to have white filling. I refused to pay. This was obviously her lie because she is money orientated dentist. Today after few years when I am back in her surgery and when I am claiming pension credit I am asking her if she can do white filling in my no.1 toot. She said it is not possible, only a crown . I did not accepted her solution. Instead she talked me into having a mouth guard. I said that I have already one. But she told me you need a new one - I thought she meant another one for upper jaw. But the imprint she did was for lower jaw. I left the surgery in turmoil no filling for me but instead she took the imprint for another mouth guard for me. 2 hours later at home, looked at my old mouth guard. Nothing wrong with it. Immediately I send an email to this surgery - I asked to cancel my mouth guard. Received no reply to that. I called this surgery. The receptionist said the order was already collected and the surgery already paid for that not possible to cancel. That I should not worry about the costs as this will be paid by my NHS . My reply was that this cost ~ £500 is unnecessary. As I still have my old mouth guard in perfect shape. I asked to give me tel no to laboratory so I can cancel it myself. The receptionis with the consultation of the dentist refused. So I cancel my next appointment to collect this mouth guard . This is all a con an excuse that they cannot cancel it. As this surgery is after big NHS money, ~£ 500 for a new mouth guard . This dental surgery is a trap - avoid this place for any price. Negative experience: This is a terrible dentist! I had composite bonding on my two front teeth which had to be re done at Smile Kensington 3 x due to various issues. Now a year later, I have a permanent mark on my tooth and have been to two dentists since then and they have been shocked and appalled at the quality. I am having to pay nearly £500 to have this redone properly. My new dentist told me that the process would take one hour and the dentist at smile kensington took 10-15 minutes to do it, no wonder It's a terrible job. Please avoid at all costs!

Fantastic experience: As it has been patient over few years that I have attended the dentist, I registered with Smile Kensington and I have been met with a great experience each time, down to the reception team and the dental professionals. I have to say since the new management took-over two years ago, the practice looks more clean, tidy and smell fresh. the surgery looks very hygienic and they always bring the instrument that they examine my teeth with from sealed bags and they open the seal in front of me. The receptionist and nurses are very friendly and very professional. Dentists are very good at making me feel at ease and talking me through each action they were taking when carrying out the treatment. I felt so at ease and relaxed that I almost fell asleep mid treatment lol - but honestly Dr.Zahraa and her nurse are great, very professional and give great advice regarding looking after my teeth and I would hope that I encounter these professional treatment every time I visit the practice :)

Positive experience: Dr Zara was very clear, knowledgeable, well spoken, and polite. Checkup was performed without issue. All questions were answered in detail and with patience. Only issue - late to be seen by 20 mins.
Negative experience: I feel hesitant about giving Smile Kensington a 1-star review as I was with them for eight years and have now gone fully private, but I feel the need to warn people against this money trap. It may be part NHS, but you could be paying more, perhaps substantially more than a full private dentist in the long run, with a far worse experience. The Smile Kensington dentist is under a lot of time pressure; they get you in quickly and do a below-average job while not being cheap. My private dentist is more expensive, but not by much. It’s close, and their work should last a lot longer. My new dentist picked up a lot of problems with Smile’s work. Plus, Smile is always late. 15 minutes, 30, 45. I think at times they've been up to an hour late but that's rare. The new dentist takes photos and X-rays of the inside of your mouth, then sits down and discusses each treatment's pros, cons, and priorities. Smile, take X-rays, and then briefly discuss which is the priority. Again, time pressures. With injections, the new dentist mildly numbs your mouth before injecting you, whereas Smile injects you quickly and with little consideration. They take time when drilling to ensure you aren’t in pain, but for Smile, it’s somewhat of a mild annoyance if you’re in pain, as that adds time for another injection, plus time for it to take effect. When building up the filling, I could sense the new dentist's care and dedication. With Smile, by this time of the appointment, I’d say seven times out of ten, the appointment is beginning to overrun, so the whole job is now being rushed. Smile’s dentist left gaps between my teeth which caused food to get trapped between them, increasing the chance of decay. It wasn’t until I met the new dentist that I learnt this is shoddy dentistry and not a given. Sometimes, when I complained, they would ‘fix’ the problem by putting in a small amount of filling between the teeth so food wouldn’t get trapped. It also means you can’t clean properly between the teeth. Another thing the new dentist said was a big no-no. The new dentist ensures the tooth is a great fit when filing it down. Whereas Smile, get it to a point where it's reasonably okay, and say your mouth should adjust. You can keep asking to get it filed more, but remember time pressures; if they must continue, it would now be a super rushed job. There’s no polishing with Smile. I didn’t know polishing was a thing until I got it done. The new dentist's office felt welcoming and friendly, whereas, at Smile, I often felt there were issues between the staff and could pick up potential grievances. Over the eight years, I lost count of how many different support staff I saw, so I would guess a high turnover of staff. However, perhaps the biggest problem with Smile is the lack of advice for long-term dental care, despite my paying them up to £5k a year. They are, after all, making money the more you visit. A lot of my dental knowledge comes from Google, and now I have quickly picked up a bunch more with my short time at my new dentist, who freely offers a lot of advice and seems more knowledgeable. I will never know how much money I have overspent over eight years with below-average dentistry at Smile Kensington, as I don’t know what my dental health would be otherwise. But I feel Smile is a company squeezed hard for profits at the top. I don’t necessarily hold it against the dentists; it’s more the people up top that you’ll never see.

Negative experience: I am disappointed to report that my experience at this clinic did not meet my expectations. After receiving treatment for a tooth, I've continued to experience severe pain over the past three months. Unfortunately, this leads me to question the effectiveness of the care provided. Due to these ongoing issues, I find myself compelled to seek emergency treatment at another clinic to resolve the complications. I believe the service could significantly benefit from improvements in both the quality of care and the expertise offered. Consequently, I cannot recommend this clinic based on my personal experience.

ZARA, MARINA AND THE REST OF HER TEAM HAS DON ME PROUD IN MY APPEARANCE, I HAVE LUNG CANCER SO ZARA HAD TO REMOVE 3 OF MY FRONT TEETH WHEREAS A COUPLE OF highly skilled Japanese Surgeon's had to go down MY throat to find the CANCER as every Scan I had, like PET SCAN, CAT SCAN CT SCAN COULDN'T FIND IT WHEREAS THE Japanese Surgeon's found it, ZARA and her team have given me Love and confidence and care, another Dentist might not have bothered because of my LUNG cancer, I'm so proud of them for the care that they have given me. They have given me my quality of life back and l Love them for it, THANK YOU SO MUCH FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART. Negative experience: My lovely dentist, Nellia (who I had been going to for years) and Petra, her nurse, just disappeared from the practice. Add to that, the place changed it's name from Perfect Smile to Smile Kensington. When I tried to find out what happened to them, I was quickly shut down. This dentist is not fit to shine Nellia's shoes by the way. I had the same experience as a previous reviewer, a filling with no anaesthetic offered. A side of one tooth that had a lovely smooth surface, now has a rough, jagged edge and pain in that tooth that I never had before. No explanation was offered as to why I needed a filling in the first place. I am a nervous patient and no effort was made to establish if I was or wasn't. If I needed time, for her (the owner/dentist) to stop during treatments and raise my hand etc, none of that was gone through with me. I wasn't seen as a person, a patient, just a mouth that generates £. NB, In reply they say they are happy to hear concerns about treatment, but that hasn't been my experience. I asked why I had to fill in the NHS registration forms again, when I had already filled in the same forms prior, at the last six month check. I couldn't get a straight answer. Also asked why I had to have another X ray, when I had one at the last check up, six months ago. Again, no straight answer, just waffle. Maybe my teeth shifted in the 6 months.... :-)

Negative experience: Receptionist had an attitude from the start of the call claiming all sorts of bizarre made up rules about NHS treatment. When the receptionist found out the patient was elderly suddenly "No NHS treatment" and it must be private. Ageist, and frankly likely racist too.

Negative experience: Absolute disgrace the behaviour of staff and to even get information. Refuse to give accurate information and re register patients as NHS, however the manager is very happy to see you as a private patient. I think same rule should apply, not to mention as member of a professional body she has no patients, no professionalism and gets very aggressive and rude with customers when questioned. Very very unprofessional and I have been advise to ovoid this place before sue to the same reason lack of professionalism.

Negative experience: I had two treatments with Dr Zara about 6 months ago and felt the need to come here and leave a review which shows how poor treatment can leave an impression. 1. No anaesthetic offered and started drilling into my tooth - very aggressive drilling, puts a lot of force on the tooth which has left the nerve agitated even now. 2. for the price you pay with private there is no difference in customer service, might as well gone with the NHS - didn't ask how I was during the treatment, lack of customer service. 3. I have never seen a dentist try and cram in as much as they can into 1 hour of treatment to make sure you don't have to come back and use more time, even if she knows her stuff, there is a serious lack of care on the overall experience and quality of the job. Its a shame because Nelia and Petra were amazing. Looking for a new practice now.

Negative experience: I'm outraged at the Service received today. My wife went for a general Clean and the Manager who works as a dentist herself hurt my gum and did a filling without Anesthesia and she is in total pain that has gone down her throat. She must have caught an infection for sure! Terrible service and treatment! We will definitly not return again and I don't suggest it at all. It was done very unproffessionally and they are just after the money and rush things!

Fantastic experience: Just came home from the dentist and I am so pleased. Had to get fitted for a top denture and due to lockdown obviously I had to wait. This dentist is top class, I had it done over 3 appointments and only a week in between each one. I never had to wait I was always seen at my appointment time. The receptionist was friendly and helpful. The dentist's assistant was kind and made me feel at ease. All in all its the best experience I have had at a dentist and my son is also a patient at this surgery. I was so excited with my new teeth when I left the surgery and I didn't get the chance to express my sincere thanks to the dentist. I really appreciate the sample gift you gave me with denture brush and fixodent plus. PS I can't stop smiling and won't be wearing a mask to hide behind any more.

Negative experience: Awful when it comes to dentures. GO ELSEWHERE. They’re very unprofessional and rude. They seem very prejudice against NHS patients and patients who are not from their part of the world.

Negative experience: I normally never write reviews however I feel compelled to leave a review after the appalling customer service I received today. I booked into this dentist for a clean and polish followed by a dentist check up. The clean was a really poor service, I was soaked with water and my teeth were not cleaned, it was unprofessional and really poorly executed. I had to walk out of the room as the receptionist came in and started to talking to the hygienist as I stood up from the chair. The whole service was 10 mins. I did not want to go to the dentist following this experience. I was told it would be 85 pounds for the clean and the receptionist could not provide me with a pricelist as she said they were being updated. There was another customer in the receptionist during this time was also very frustrated with his service. The receptionist said I would have to wait for the dentist as there was nothing she could do, I had to wait 20 mins for the dentist to meet me and hear my issue. I then got called by the dental nurse to my second appointment and I had to tell her that I was not going in , the dental nurse, the dentist and receptionist all went into the room and I could hear them giving out. A few minutes later the dentist came out, there was no apology and she only said that she could finish the job which i felt was not acceptable as a service. I had already made my mind up that I would not use this dentist moving forward. I wanted to leave and I didn't think it was justified to have to pay 85 pounds. The dentist was rude and unapologetic , this conversation happened in the reception and they didn't care who overheard. The dentist said 'give her a 50% reduction' and then walked off. The clean and polish was of a very poor standard however I am appalled by the customer service in this dental practice
Negative experience: The reception are is small, Smelly and dirty. Not covid safe and nobody wore masks. The dentist didn’t want to see me because I was 5mins late. Service is unprofessional and I DO NOT recommend this to anyone.
