We are a 4 surgery practice located on The Crofts, Rotherham. We have 4 associate dentists, a hygiene therapist and a fully dedicated team of Practice Manager, Dental Nurses & Receptionists. We are not currently accepting NHS patients. We do offer a range of cosmetic dental treatments including Teeth Whitening and Invisalign.

Ivy Cottage Dental Care: Reviews
Positive experience: I received a call in November to cancel my upcoming routine appointment, this was rebooked for February 2026, a bit of a shock to have to wait that long but I accepted it. On the 4th December, at 16.07 I rang the practice to enquire about buying teeth whitening product and mentioned that I had chipped a tooth, the receptionist said there was a free appointment for today, well you can imagine I was surprised and pleased so I booked it. I arrived early today only to be told that I was not on their list, no apologies, I was offered an appointment with the hygienist though! But would have to reschedule for a dentist appointment as well ♀️ A sorry for the mix up would have been appreciated, rather than been made to feel like it was my mistake.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient in this practice for over 40 years, all my children have been patients. They are now grown with kids of their own and still attend. I've seen numerous changes over the years. It has now lost that homely feeling that was always present, however, the dentists are very good. Yesterday I had an emergency appointment, basically a gum infection. The dentist i saw, I'm sorry I didn't get her name, young Asian woman. I was in immense pain and we struggled to get me numb. She was amazing, she did everything to get me numb. I had numerous injections, we eventually got there. She was lovely; she explained everything to me. She is a credit to the company. I hope any future visits are with her. She definitely deserves recognition, well done to her , she couldn't have done anymore for me, thank you.

Fantastic experience: The Reception lady was really kind caring and lovely when I phoned up in pain. She explained his their service worked. When I attended the appointment all the staff (receptionist dentist and nurse) were lovely. The dentist was really kind (I’m sorry I didn’t get names). Fantastic experience: The dentist talked me through my whole treatment plan which consisted of 4 procedures including a root extraction. The assistant was very attentive & considerate to the discomfort I was experiencing. I was given plenty of time to compose myself after each procedure. Anaesthetic injections were administered in right places to minimise pain & discomfort. The dentist took care & time to ensure my bite was correct.

Fantastic experience: My dentist James is the best dentist I have ever had, honestly , I have suffered with my teeth from a young age, had a massive amount of procedures and some scary experiences. I fully trust Janes but his experience and knowledge is second to none, he knows his stuff and his patient manner and explanation is clear with the options available . Please stay on not move in as most dentist do these days. I have 100% happiness and confident after 60 years and believe I would be in a better place if James was there years ago. James is prides himself in his profession and he is the best dentist ever, if you saw my teeth you understand. Thank you and keep doing what you expertly do.

Negative experience: Feel like the new company that has taken over are just trying to get more money out of NHS patients. What would normally cost £27.40 turned out to be £75 this time. Dentist came up with potential future treatments that could end up costing more in the future when I’ve never had any problems before. All of a sudden I’ve got something genetic even though the dentist never asked me about family history. Same happened to my husband and we both feel like it’s all about getting more money out of patients. Not happy with the new service at all and made me very sceptical.
Hi Debra, thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your concerns. We were taken over 3 years ago and nothing has changed during this time except decoration and new signage, just to clarify NHS Dental charges are set nationally not by the practice. All treatment recommendations are based on clinical findings.

Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at Ivy Cottage Dental Care for 25 years. Today, I attended the dental practice and was told my appointment was actually the next day. The lady I spoke to asked me to wait while she asked Mr Ryder, the dentist, if he could see me there and then. Mr Ryder, a lovely young man, saw me when he had finished with his previous client. Fantastic experience: Polite receptionist on checking-in. Ushered by a dental nurse to the surgery in question a short while later. Had a yearly Check-up with James Casserly as I have had for a few years now. Ran smoothly with advice offered along the way. Pleased with the service and no further treatment required. Will return next year, hopefully, for more of the same.

Fantastic experience: I can only highly recommend Ivy Cottage. The staff is very polite and professional at all times. Very quick to react if you've got a problem! I had no problem in getting an appointment very quick when I had trouble with a tooth of mine. All steps and procedures were explained, which makes it easier if you are a bit nervous. Negative experience: Reception changed my appointment several times. My final text said they were full and could not treat me. Not happy
Hi Susan I am sorry to hear you are not happy with our service. If you would like to contact reception so we could look into this further for you as we do not send out texts advising we are full and cannot treat patients. We do sometimes for reasons out of our control have to cancel appointments but these are always re-booked as soon as possible. Our reception team will be happy to help you.

Fantastic experience: I have always hated the dentist but a bad experience as a child plus as an adult made me so scared of going.but after a really big problem with my teeth l went to ivy cottage and saw a male dentist called JC and he was brilliant made me at ease and nothing was to much trouble. Great welcome on arrival from the reception staff Super appointment with Maryam Khan and her assistant (who was gracious enough to offer me support walking to the room, thank you). Negative experience: Do not go to this dentist. Had a horrible experience and the dentists have no clue what they’re doing.
Lydia I am sorry to hear that you feel you had a horrible experience at Ivy Cottage. On looking into this further we have established that we do not have a patient at our practice with your details. We take comments very seriously and we will always try to resolve any issues which are brought to our attention to the satisfaction of the patient where possible. Fantastic experience: After ringing around 26 dentists in desperation for an emergency appointment, i rang Ivy Cottage and explained that after a recent surgery the anaesthetist had accidentally damaged my wisdom tooth and I was in agony. I was informed that they do an evening clinic on a Wednesday for pain and booked me in straight away. The receptionist said it was her first day today, she was absolutely lovely, informative and so kind! Had she not asked if I had a problem and could she help I think I’d still be seeking an appointment. I’ve not even attended yet and I’m already filled with confidence about this practice. Thank you so much for helping me and I look forward to seeing you this Wednesday.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been to many dentist and I can honestly say that I had the best dental experience of my life here. For months I was suffering with severe pain on my left side of my face due to a wisdom tooth needing to be taken out and x2 dentist could not take it out. However T & Laura really made me feel comfortable, explained the complications, did an x ray for me and took out the tooth within seconds! The pain went away instantly and I was able to live my life like normal again. Thank you so much T & Laura, you are both amazing you both reassured me when I was panicking and completed the job without any complications.

Fantastic experience: READ THIS REVIEW Been a patient with ivy cottage now for over 35 yrs never had any problems with any of the staff or their practices ! they are and always Have been polite caring easy to got on with even from the older days when mr & mrs gardener had the practice till now I cant praise them ENOUGH And the person i used to see was Rebecca Davidson who was a fantastic person who u could talk to her about absolutely anything she was & is a lovely person as are all the staff 150% out off 100% & ((( the 2 Receptionist are absolutely amazing funny just like a pair of onions they either make you laugh or make u cry with some of the jokes they come out with WOW WOW WOW is all i can say about them both ))) (in a good way they make u more than welcome if u was afraid of the Dentist before u go in you Definitely will be laughing when coming out unless you've had any extractions done !! )( But if it was just a check up then u will be laughing especially with Both the Receptionists with some of the funny jokes they come out with ide even pay to go watch them on the stage in london or Better than That ide book an appointment every week !! Would work out cheaper than London prices mind you they are worth every penny just like u dint see owt u never heard owt & u Definitely never say owt Bad about them they are FANTASTIC ( Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant )

Fantastic experience: First appointment in over a year and everything was organised and clear. Appointment went very well - phew! - and relieved I was able to see my normal dentist to discuss previous work and undergo a check up. Brilliant dentists and a welcoming atmosphere!
