Hopkins & Poyner Dental Practice

Negative experience: Very disappointed with the reception at this practice. I tried to book an emergency appointment recently, and spent nearly an hour trying to get through on the phone, even though the answer machine was saying I was number one in the queue. Eventually I got cut off completely. Why can’t they answer the phones ? I also left an email to which no one replied. No apology or anything ! The customer service has gone right down hill since Mr Hopkins left, and is now even worse with the departure of Victoria Poyner. I would advise anyone registering with this dentist to think twice.

Negative experience: I am sure the place is great but unfortunately for me I had a bad experience, probably just a coincidence. I called in to book an appointment and the receptionist told me that she needs to speak to the practice manager to book me for an appointment and she will call me later, 6 hours later I receive a call from them with the phone ringing for a second or less then they hang up. So I phoned them back and I find it weird that the receptionst picks up straight with "Hi Sami". I phone the next day with a query about the appointment and I have been kept first in the queue for the 20minutes until the call automatically shuts off. I am sure if I had met the team they would have appeared to be a lot nicer, but I chose to cancel and booked with a different practice.

Positive experience: Welcoming atmosphere from Abdullah and present(?) Good explanation given re treatment.

Positive experience: Treatment and staff fine, but very difficult to contact be phone so not sympathetic to those not 'computer savvy'

Fantastic experience: My husband and I have been patients at the surgery for over 20 years. We have found both receptionists to be extremely helpful and friendly both in person at reception and also on the telephone.

Fantastic experience: Just received excellent care again today by Dr Anitha and Nurse Ashika.I was a little apprehensive when our legendary dentist retired just a year ago. Mark was fantastic and very kind to our family for over 25 years. I didn’t think he could ever be replaced, however my wife and I are very impressed and grateful with Anitha’s professionalism and support clarifying each stage of our treatment. Today I also thanked Nurse Ashika as she is an important member of the team.Ashika was professional and gentle providing comfortable support during my treatment.Well done!

Fantastic experience: Hygienist appointment with Abdul & Jess. I received the new airflow treatment, it is pain-free & my teeth felt lovely. Thank you to Abdul for his explanation with the new treatment & advice with hygiene. I hope to buy a water flossing device. Abdul & Jess are both professional, patient & friendly. I would definitely recommend.

Fantastic experience: Had a tooth () completely rebuilt by Abdullah today ably assisted by Madhu. Both worked well together to reassure me and to ensure that the whole experience over 50 minutes, was pain and stress free. Excellent service with a high quality finished result. Thank You

Negative experience: I have now registered with a new local dental practice simply because of the indifferent and unfriendly service from one particular receptionist at Hopkins and Poyner. She really is not an asset to their company.

Positive experience: Professional, caring and friendly service from Dr Anithra and Jess for my crown fitting, I felt in safe hands, which was very reassuring after the departure of Mark. Just 4 stars as trying to contact the practice by phone is now so difficult, having to resort to email.

Fantastic experience: Booked recently for a hygienist appointment, they got a quick turn around and reception were friendly. I was booked in with Emmanuel and he did an excellent job. I didn’t need to wait and walked straight in and I was 15 minutes early to my appointment. It was pain free and Emmanuel was attentive to any issues I might have had.

Fantastic experience: The staff at this practice are lovely and I’ve found that they always try their best to accommodate your needs. They’ve managed to always get me seen quickly outside of the 6 month appointments and are especially good with children. Elizabeth & Claire were amazing with my daughter when I needed to have a hygienist appointment, I was booked in at short notice due to a cancellation and had no childcare, Claire came in and occupied my little girl by watching her favourite film so I could have my appointment. I haven’t found this kind of care anywhere else and highly recommend this practice.

Positive experience: Ongoing concerns with receptionists but high praise for lovely thoughtful and caring dentist Dr Anitha who has such a gentle approach and touch. A joy to witness the most respectful rapport between dentist and her trainee dental nurse Jess who most sensibly checked and double checked in with Dr Anitha. I felt in supremely safe and capable hands.

Positive experience: Dr Anitha and Nurse Jess provided a great service - this was my first major dental appointment since the amazing and much loved Mark Hopkins retired so I was apprehensive, especially as the work needed on my wisdom tooth was not particularly simple. But I was reassured by the calm and friendly manners adopted by the dental team and feel like I’m in safe hands for the future. Only reason for the 4* review is that the reception / waiting area is really looking rather run down and a bit dirty, and it’s literally impossible to get hold of the surgery via phone, frequently kept on hold for 20 minutes with a rolling recorded sales message repeating itself every 30seconds or so, to then be cut off. Especially frustrating when you work standard UK business hours yourself so are limited to when you can call - plus the reception team are ALL unavailable between 1pm and 2pm as they take lunch so maybe time to modernise the service and stagger lunch times so reception is covered at all times.

Fantastic experience: I visited this afternoon just for a routine check up. I met Anitha and Jess they were lovely they made me feel welcome and comfortable as it was a bit of a transition for me as I used to have mark who’s been my dentist since I was a child but I can’t complain they both were very approachable and nice.
