Widdrington Surgery
NPC Felton and Widdrington is a Northumbria Primary Care practice. We offer GP services to patients in Felton, Widdrington, and the surrounding areas. A number of healthcare professionals can see patients. This includes practice nurses, physiotherapists, and paramedics.
There is good disabled access to our ground-floor consulting rooms. Our toilet is currently not accessible, but this will be addressed in our upcoming refurbishment.
NPC is a research-active primary care organisation. We may contact you about research projects. If you do not wish to take part in research or be contacted about these opportunities, please let us know. We will note that you do not want to be contacted.
The average pay for GPs working at NPC Felton and Widdrington in the last financial year was £58,285.58. This number is before tax and national insurance.
It’s important that we know if you are a carer. If we know that you’re a carer, we will know about your busy life, which can affect your health. We can also try and be flexible with appointments etc as we will know about your commitments.
We are a Veteran Friendly practice. This means that we have a dedicated clinician with specialist knowledge of military-related health conditions and veteran-specific health services. This is as part of the health commitments of the Armed Forces Covenant.
This is a valuable process for the development of future generations of doctors. They are directly supervised by a senior/lead GP with every patient contact. From time to time, it may be necessary for several clinicians, including medical students, to be part of the team that delivers your care.
You will be asked for consent before each interaction. If you do not feel comfortable with the presence of medical students, you can request that they not be a part of your consultation.
This partnership between GP surgeries and their patients is crucial for ensuring high-quality medical care and promoting overall health and well-being.

Widdrington Surgery: Reviews
Reviews are the opinions of their authors. We do not verify that the author was a customer.
Fantastic experience: Pleasant and competent staff, all ready to help.
Fantastic experience: I'd highly recommend. Special 'thank you' to Dr Zufishan M., Clare R., and Natalie A. for looking after me with great care and understanding. You ladies are worth your weight in pure gold.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service as always
Fantastic experience: New to the surgery. Been easy to access appointments, reception have been lovely and helpful, and the online appointment request has been fine too. No complaints at all, I've had a very efficient experience.
Negative experience: Haven't been able to see a doctor in the nearly two years we have been registered here. The 8:00 am phone queue is ridiculous. Support staff and practice nurses are doing their best but practice management is woeful.
Negative experience: Been in the village for two years and I have to say that the surgery is a waste of time and space. Never mind grown up appointments, but kids have no chance of getting better,no chance of getting seen and examined!!
Fantastic experience: All staff have been so kind, informed and helpful this week when things must be difficult after the holidays and with the strike. Thank you for being there!
Negative experience: The place is absolutely useless
Negative experience: Waiting for over 25 mins for answer And in rehab from stroke incredibly frustrating... Appalling service
Fantastic experience: Attended Widdrington surgery today for my cervical screening and would like to say a big thank you to Yvonne for putting me at ease and making me feel comfortable throughout the appointment. Great experience when I rang to book my appointment and I was offered a good choice of days and times ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Negative experience: The doctors here are so rude. Their attitude is absolutely disgusting and I'm sick of them messing up my referrals, meds, plans ...etc. I just wish the doctors could be helpful and polite and well mannered instead of telling me there's an issue then not doing anything to help. If I could give this place zero stars I would . The wellway surgery is WAY better.
Negative experience: My mother who is 83 years old burst her leg open and it all went poisonous so she phoned and asked for an appointment with the doctor and was told no appointments were available , she asked if she could see a nurse and they said no , they never even asked what the problem was , all they said was go to walk in centre , she doesn’t drive she had no way of getting there , what has the world come to , I went up to the doctors walked in and there was not one person in the waiting room , absolute disgrace
Fantastic experience: Fantastic surgery. Every interaction with the doctors has been supportive and caring. Nurses lovely and reception very warm and helpful. Thank you.
Negative experience: Official complaint being filed due to the negligence of the doctors at this surgery very good chance a good friend of mine is now looking at surgery due to their incompetence
Negative experience: This is an update to my previous review which I made over 2 years ago. I then had a positive experience. In the past I have always been able to see the Doctor Ive seen since he took over the practice years ago. Sadly, no more of that to be had. You receive a phone call from who ever they say and only at a time when they say so! I complained about the service today and received a phone call from the practice manger. In the most condescending manner she basically inferred that my complaint was nothing more than my fault for not knowing what I would like to see happen going forward to make things all better. If I couldn't say what I wanted from them to improve their service then how very dare I complain - I'm sure there is logic in there somewhere but from a patients point of view I just wanted to be treat as an individual and given the correct medical advice at the time of my faceless phone call with a Doctor who didn't know anything about me - and didn't really care either.. I'm not going to spend any more time over this, Ive left this review which is personal to me about my experience and how let down I feel from a surgery where Ive been a patient longer than most of the admin staff and doctors in it. Ive now completed a form to join Lynemouth surgery where the majority of my friends and family are registered. This in itself should tell me that I'm doing the right thing.
Fantastic experience: Very good support to patients
Negative experience: Absolute waste of time. Had me waiting outside in the freezing cold for 50 mins and still no one came to get me for my appointment!
Fantastic experience: This is a very clean and tidy surgery they have very friendly staff who are willing to help. Even during this Covid-19 pandemic they are doing a huge amount of work to keep everyone safe whilst effective. There is a pharmacy here which is perfect for collecting prescriptions with friendly and helpful staff. There is also an opticians here but I believe they work independently from the surgery. There are wide doors for wheelchairs and electronic door openings to access this building with no steps making it suitable for wheelchair access. At this surgery there is adequate parking with Disabled bays at the front of the building. Would recommend this surgery. Currently they have a system for the Covid-19 with a 1 person in the pharmacy at the time. Appointments are handled in a different way now to with going into the back of the surgery once you have notified them.of you're arrival.
Negative experience: Just visited the surgery for booked Nurses appointment and couldn't see any instructions at all about where to go or what to do other than for Pharmacy and prescriptions. Very confusing, a few signs or clear instructions would help.
Fantastic experience: Addressed all my issues. Properly trust thieir confidentiality.
Fantastic experience: I have been a patient at this Surgery for 18 years and on the very few occasions I have attended the Practise, I have always received first class treatment from the GP's and all of the Staff. Like everything else in life, they suffer the odd hiccup, nothing Major. None of us is perfect.
Negative experience: If I could leave 0 stars I would. Nearly impossible to see the doctor, when you do get to see them they do nothing to help. Pharmacy closed from 12.30-1.30 everyday. Would not recommend for anyone to go here.
Fantastic experience: Excellent service. All staff members from GP to admin staff and pharmacy staff very pleasant and very helpful. Thank you
Fantastic experience: Over the years the doctors, nurses and other staff of Widdrington Surgery have looked after my family with care and understanding. Reception staff are polite and helpful. Our children who are now grown up and living out of the area cannot understand why their new services are poor in comparison.
Negative experience: Absolutely no chance of getting an appointment while you're ill, by the time you get an appointment you have probably been well and ill again several times !
