Negative experience: Lovely staff. Crazy air freshener. I can’t trust a health establishment that pumps toxic VOCs into the air in a waiting room. I could taste it. Had to leave and get my new patient appointment fee refunded, which they did without issue.

Fantastic experience: Always a warm welcome at reception. Had some work done recently by Ruairi and his dental nurse. What a fantastic pair, so friendly and professional. I've been told for years there was nothing that could be done on my teeth to help the appearance, Ruairi fixed them better than I could have expected. It's brought so much confidence back to my smile and I can't thank you enough. Really professional in what he does and explains things really well. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Fantastic experience: Really clean & tidy premises, had to have a filling due to broken tooth, old practice had closed down but luckily contacted this dentist to find been transferred to here but wasn't informed by old practice. Can only say a big thank you as Carmen (my dentist from old practice is hear also) was excellent, kept informed of my options and knew what she had done previously, not cheap but sometimes you have to pay for what you get. Receptionist got me in for appointment really promptly (18/2/25) and only contacted 13/2/25 So really can't complain at all. Thank you all

My Dentist Mr Jim Hall gave me a perfectly fitting crown using the latest technology (image of all teeth generated) which was a perfect fit from the start - & he is now doing the same for another tooth. Fantastic experience: Really nice practice, very modern and all the staff are very professional. I had put off getting a new dentist for far too long. I need a considerable amount of work done. My dentist Ruairi is clearly a very skilled dentist and the work I have had done so far has been pain free. During treatments Ruairi and his Nurse are always checking in and explaining what is happening. They both offer just the right amount of comfort and encouragement when needed! I am looking forward to getting the rest of the work completed now I have a dentist I fully trust. I firmly believe you get what you pay for and it really is worth it. Fantastic experience: I am on holiday in Exeter. One of my dental fillings came out. Miraculously, I got an emergency appointment with Dr. Alice Havard within 90 minutes. I have been to various dentists in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Dr Alice Havard is undoubtedly the best dentist that I have visited.

Positive experience: Very thorough ... feeling comfortable is imperative when receiving treatment ... the practice have patient focus As a premium in the clinical setting where diagnosis of dental assessment is assessed ...

Fantastic experience: All Fantastic dentists, I have check ups, dental hygienist and composite bonding here and all fantastic so professional and obviously highly skilled but friendly and put you at ease. So worth the money going private with them.

Negative experience: I don't want to move practices because I love the dentists and have been registered there for years. But despite me complaining twice over the years, the waiting room air con is still pumped with an overwhelming toxic smelling perfume. It is unbelievably strong, I don't know how the receptionists can tolerate it. I mentioned it to my dentist and he agreed wholeheartedley. Who is doing this and why?? No other institution I know does this? I often have to sit outside on the door step to wait for my appointments.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this practice too highly. The kindness and understanding I received from Jim Hall was second to none. I have a dental phobia, and he is really helping me overcome this.

Negative experience: Refused to accept a referral, insisting I join as a new patient. This would be expensive and completely unnecessary. I'm a Bupa member, who is an existing patient at another practice, being referred for a root canal and they are trying to rip me off. SHAME.

Fantastic experience: Very pleasant staff, I just came back from my 2nd appointment and I can gladly say I am cured from my phobia of dentists ! I actually had a nice time there (which was unexpected !) and had a lovely chat with Dawn, my dentist, who also took plenty of time to answer all my questions and explain everything in details.

Fantastic experience: It was not my choice but I needed 5 dental implants. Ruairi Cunnane did an excellent job. I was very well informed and advised about the treatment, never pressured at all. From the beginning I always felt very assured with any treatment done and I am very pleased with the end result. With hindsight I definitely would have the treatment done by Ruairi again, as I felt it was all the time very professional, knowledgeable and caring. A big praise also for all the staff in the dental practice. I always enjoyed a very friendly approach from everyone.

Fantastic experience: Dr Dawn Lovell is very professional and tailors her kind approach to suit challenges I experience with Asperger's. Dr Dawn Lovell always explains things in advance and guides me through the process, they are aware of sensory challenges I experience and they are understanding, patient and careful with their movements and overall approach. Although I need a lot of dental work, Dr Dawn Lovell makes the process accessible and tolerable. If it weren't for her I would probably not even visit the dentist. I am very grateful for her great support and adjustments. Admin staff are really kind and accommodating as well, they are very friendly and welcoming. It is really difficult to attend this kind of appointments for me and I need a lot of dental work, but the people in the Exeter branch are understanding and wonderful. I really recommend Dr Lovell and the team if you need someone professional, knowledgeable, transparent, kind, delicate and who can tailor her approach to neurodivergent people.

Fantastic experience: After many months I have finally had my 2 new teeth fitted. My heartfelt thanks to Ruairi and his team for an excellent service. I had an existing medical condition that complicated the surgery but Ruairi was patient and professional in ensuring the procedure was progressing as planned, before proceeding to the next step. Fantastic experience: Had my first check up and treatment plan today. All the staff I met where very friendly, professional and relaxing. The service was very thorough and they took their time to explain what/how/why about certain problem teeth, it did not feel rushed at all. As someone with anxiety, it really helped how calm and understanding Jim and his team came across.

Fantastic experience: I couldn't be happier with my treatment from The Exeter Dental Centre. Dawn and her dental nurse did a remarkable job in restoring my cracked front teeth, Jan and her colleague gave me a sparkling deep clean. My smile is now unrecognisable, and I'm very grateful! Fantastic experience: Really excellent service. My son had two chips out of his front teeth and booked an emergency appointment on Christmas Eve. We were just visiting Exeter, but promptly got us in and fixed his teeth, now they're good as new. Really nice people too, would recommend!!

Fantastic experience: The customer service was excellent from when I walked in to when I left. I was seen to on time and made to feel very valued. The dentist I saw, Dawn Lovell was extremely professional and explained everything to me in detail and never made me feel rushed or just another appointment. I had xrays and photos of my teeth as well as a full examination and consultation for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: After waiting for 18 months to get an NHS dentist, I couldn't wait any longer. I was seen within 3 weeks of emailing them, and am now awaiting to finally have my wisdom teeth out after over a year of pain. They were very kind and I didn't feel at all awkward or worried. Fantastic experience: Very nice Dental centre. Very close to John Lewis car park and the bus station. The reception staff are very pleasant. As are the Dentist Ruairi and his assistant. The practice is very clean and modern. Ruairi was very thorough with his examination of my teeth and mouth. Every thing was explained very clearly. Fortunately my teeth required no other work besides a visit to the hygienist. Some cosmetic work was suggested. But no hard sell. The treatment and costs were explained clearly beforehand. Well impressed.

Positive experience: The level of dental care and the attitude of the medical staff are in my experience excellent. Currently, the Centre is let down by glitches in the admin. After an appointment was made for me to see a hygienist, the hygienist was changed without notice or consultation: I picked it up from a routine email appointment reminder. Subsequently, the time of the appointment was altered, again without notification or consultation, and I picked it up from perusing another routine email reminder. This is poor practice and poor customer relations, and it does a great disservice to the actual dental staff.

Fantastic experience: Excellent care. Plenty of time for appointment, no rush and keeping the patient happy and relaxed is a priority. Lost that terrible panicy feeling and now happy to go to dentist. Materials and equipment used are first class. Well worth it if you can afford it.

Fantastic experience: For many years I have been a very nervous dental patient who needed sedation before even the smallest treatment since I came to Exeter Dental Centre have had a treatment by Ruairi my confidence has grown and I trust him and now don't need sedation anymore. I would recommend anyone who is nervous to give Exeter Dental Centre a try.

Fantastic experience: I had been in pain with an ongoing molar issue and then a crown had come loose. My main dentist was 2 hours away and I had been looking for a local dentist to register with. The staff at Exeter Dental Centre were incredibly helpful and managed to get me an emergency appointment with Jim Hall. I now have a refitted crown, received treatment for the molar and for the first time in months I am pain free. A friendly, customer focused and professional practice. Fantastic experience: I would like to give my special thanks to Jan the hygenist. She has been amazing in rescuing my gums. When I first went to see her just under a year ago, I had problems with swelling and bleeding which have been resolved with her cleaning sessions and very helpful cleaning tips. For anyone who has problem with gum disease or gum issues, Jan will be able to help.

Fantastic experience: Mrs Lovell is the most thorough and caring dentist I have ever had examine my teeth and Hannah the dental nurse was so good at putting me at ease. Not my favourite place but so great to have a plan now to start to improve my teeth. I am not worrying about my next treatment at all since I have had steps to upgrade my teeth explained to me. Jan, the hygienist, provided the best clean for my teeth I have ever had. So good to feel I am in capable hands. Thank you all so much.

Fantastic experience: I've always been very nervous about going to the dentist and had put off going for way too long, but I was made to feel so welcome. The whole staff were very friendly and understanding of my nerves and chatted to me until I felt more at ease. I had a new patient consultation and was in and out in under half an hour, it was quick but thorough and I came out wondering why I'd put it off for so long!

Positive experience: The dentistry here is outstanding. However I recently had my teeth cleaned , and it was an experience that I don't wish to repeat. Either my assigned hygienist was having a really bad day or she is in the wrong profession. I am in my 70s , lived in a lot of different countries and had my teeth cleaned regularly, but never had an experience like this.

Everyone has been very friendly and professional in all aspects of the service my family has received. Our dentist provided a comprehensive treatment plan and each step has been clearly explained along the way, so I feel very informed and confident that the treatment is of very a high standard. I would highly recommend the Exeter Dental Centre to anyone looking to register themselves or their family to a new dentist.

Fantastic experience: Always had top service from everyone at the EDC. From the friendly dealings front of counter, to the dental assistants & dentists. Very clean, very professional & very friendly dealings. They appear to have the best of equipment & state of the art practices. Their advice is always discussed with great professionalism, with a very positive customer care attitude. Been there many years. A visit to the dentist can often be problematic for many people. The EDC try to make that as comfortable as possible. In these Covid times especially, that deserves a very favourable comment. Would happily recommend & hope for more of the same in future.

Fantastic experience: Autism-friendly dentist. From wonderful people in reception that tailore their communication, to amazing dentists. Dr Lovell is the best, very patient, explains things step by step and provides you with all the options so you make an informed decision. If you let them know your needs they would make reasonable adjustments for you. The waiting room is often tranquil but does have an intense smell, people seem to like it and find it calming though. They have assistants that are really helpful and supportive during the process in the appointment. They are gentle and provide information to prepare for each appointment. Always clean and COVID 19 guidelines well applied. Hygienist Lauren Scornia is excellent, the best visit to a hygienist I have ever had. She really listens to you and your needs, she is patient, tailors things for you, and lets you know what is happening and what needs to be done. She explains things clearly and gives you options. Hannah, who works with her is also excellent, providing support during the appointment and both very gentle whilst they work. This is an excellent place with a kind and polite team. The receptionists are polite and will check that you are well before and after your appointment. I was assigned to Dr Dawn Lovell a really professional, knowledgeable, kind and polite dentist. She has always been very understanding. She is aware of my case specifics and some of the challenges I face, she has demonstrated diligence and great knowledge not only regarding the dental part but in other health conditions. Dr Lovell has been clear, explicit, very detailed with every step and why she will do things. She provides options so I can make an informed decision. Most importantly, she has taken my case from the beginning and has listened to what I need and what I want. She has considered my perspectives and informed me of possible consequences and prognosis of each treatment. Dr Lovell is a very professional, compassionate and wise dentist. During my journey here I have also been assigned to Dr Ruairi Cunnane, who also has a kind and professional approach. Dr Cunnane is very knowledgeable too and skilled. I have recommended people to Dr Cunane as he is very professional and a super pro when talking about dental implants. The team of dental nurses have always been respectful, polite, kind and helpful. I was recommended this dental centre as it deals specifically with cases that are complex and require detail and care. The team is wonderful and all the staff have been very kind and understanding. They keep confidentiality and are a great team. If you let them know your needs, they will cater for them providing reasonable adjustments. Overall, I have seen a team with a knowledgeable, friendly, calm, and professional approach. They patiently explain every step and options. This is a great way to make informed decisions for treatments that are not imposed or have hidden costs. I recommend to ask all questions needed before making a decision and take your time analysing the options. So far, professionals have informed me with honesty about options and made recommendations, not impositions. They respect my decisions and are honest about prognosis. I certainly recommend The Exeter Dental Centre, think about the costs, but also about your health and tranquility. They provide you with options for treatment and this can help to plan things gradually regarding costs and stress whilst receiving lengthy treatments. The premises are always clean, tidy and with a tranquil atmosphere that helps you to be more prepared before the visit (COVID 19 adapted). Parking: Think about parking perhaps in the Guildhall shopping centre, parking is limited closer to the Dental Centre and it is well monitored by traffic officers. I definitely recommend the Exeter Dental Centre!!!

Fantastic experience: So far, an excellent consultation and check up. Dr Griffin was very thorough and honest about my treatment options, as unfortunately we could not go ahead with what I had hoped. But I feel very confident that whichever treatments I choose to go with will be done well and improve the appearance of my teeth. Hygienist next week, which I am anticipating will be a better clean and more pleasant session than my last NHS one.

Fantastic experience: My appointment was very well organised and safe. You wait outside until appointment time. On entering your temperature is taken and you use hand sanitiser. Everything is being done to make everywhere COVID secure and I felt completely safe.

Positive experience: The booking was easy enough to make. They weren't able to take my call but returned the call quickly enough. On the appointment date the wait time wasn't long at all. The staff were polite Covid considerate. No complaints. Maybe a text reminder a couple days before would have been useful.

Fantastic experience: I can't rate the friendliness and professionalism of this place too highly. It's not cheap, but I believe it's worth it.. A year or two ago I left to join an NHS practice for the simple reason it was a lot more affordable. The people there were doing their best, but it just wasn't for me.. perhaps I've been spoiled. The staff at Exeter Dental Centre really do take your comfort and peace of mind seriously, and they have the time to listen and explain. The dentists and nurses here have amazing skills and resources and I feel safe in their hands. Which is important as I'm a nervous patient! I can't afford to pay privately for everything, but the practice has its own plans and of course Denplan insurance, to help with costs. Had my first check up yesterday! And came away grateful to the dentist and her nurse for their care, thoroughness and good cheer.

Fantastic experience: The usual excellent quality of service was shown by the staff towards me when I had a later than usual six monthly check up with my dentist and Hygienist on 29th September which had been delayed owing to the Coronavirus problem. The premises were spotlessly clean and the staff welcoming and professional in their work. It is becoming a pleasure to have a visit to the dentist!

Fantastic experience: I called up 9am on 20/08/2020. With a bad cracked tooth/inflection, and in agony. Very friendly and polite receptionist got me an emergency appointment for 11:30am. I haven’t been to the dentist for years due to bad experiences. I saw a dentist called dawn. very professional and gentle and had to extract the tooth. Everything went to plan. You don’t feel a thing as in good hands. And an excellent dental nurse also assisting. It’s an 11/10 service at Exeter dental centre. Also with covid. Face mask, hand santitiser etc is provided. I will defiantly recommend this to family and friends or anyone in need on social media. and I want to sign up as a regular patient. I think they are reasonably priced for the service you receive. Fantastic experience: My partner had been trying for 3 weeks to get an NHS emergency appt for a broken tooth where he was in agony. No appointments due to the Covid-19 restrictions! I decided to go privately and the only dentist who were open and could help were the Exeter Dental Centre (part of BUPA). They were brilliant! Great customer service, seen same day and tooth extraction was pain-free! Even though it was private, it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be. Highly recommended. Thank you to all.

Fantastic experience: Yes it is a bit more expensive but I can tell you now they are worth every penny! Every staff member is professional and friendly. I am a nervous patient due to my aniexty and as soon as I told them this they recommended one of there dentist Jim who I now see everytime. He explains everything that is going on to me and why, answeri g any questions I have, because of him I am now not so scared of going for a check up. Same with the hygienists, also patience, happy and friendly. There reaction to covid as well is brilliant! They take your temperature, give you a mask and get you to use antibac before even stepping in the door, inside everything is controlled to prevent any unnecessary contact and protect the staff and patients. I will neber go to another dentist!

Fantastic experience: I admit I was worried about coming in yesterday, even following the preparation phone call before hand didn't exactly make me feel confident. I shouldn't have worried it was all so calm and seamless. It was lovely not to have the smelly candle! Though I missed the newspaper but it will come back. I rang a friend who also attends your practice and was worried about coming and hopefully have reassured her that all is fine.

Fantastic experience: The treatment began during lock down with an infection (diagnosed over the phone) successfully treated with antibiotics. At the first opportunity an appointment was made and the cause of the infection removed, essentially painlessly, rapidly and with no after effects. The adherence to guidelines on social distancing, covid-19 symptom checking etc was done carefully and efficiently. As pleasant an experience as a visit to a dentist can be.

Positive experience: The staff are very polite and professional. Be aware if you are taking a child that they never remember to offer a fluoride varnish and will only do it if it is very clearly asked for during the appointment.

Fantastic experience: To be honest, as a general rule, I'm really not a fan of dentists but the reception team at The Exeter Dental Centre were very relaxed which puts you at your ease from the start. I saw Hilary and the initial review was excellent, very thorough. I am confident that I am in good hands for the next visit.

Positive experience: Excellent dentist. However, reception did not offer drink as they used prior to BUPA ownership. Reception now looking a little tired. Chairs near wall table torn underneath, reception desk plinth pealing away. Come on BUPA!

Fantastic experience: Can barely afford private dentistry but as I could not get an NHS place I had no choice. I expected the experience to better than the NHS for the money and it certainly was. Thorough assessment of my mouth health and needs rather than a 5 minute check up and my dentist was very friendly and gentle.

Fantastic experience: Cannot fault this place! I suffered with a major phobia of the dentist and was considering sedation to have some work done. However the dentist's were really kind and assured I felt comfortable by putting music on and talking me through my treatment in a way I understood. After years of not smiling due to unhealthy teeth, I've now got braces and I'm so excited for my new smile! Thank you Exeter dental centre!

Fantastic experience: I can honestly say that I have nothing but praise for the staff and dentist that I see at the Exeter Dental Centre. I am treated with dignity, they are courteous and answer questions fully and check that I understand the answers. I really like my dentist there and know that everything he does is for my benefit. I have 100% confidence in him. I have had cause to complain to two previous dentists and didn’t even get a reply to either. I know that if I were to have a problem , it would be looked into and a reply would certainly follow. Fantastic experience: Started using The Exeter Dental Centre after a NHS job that was bodged a couple of times. They are brilliant. Faultless service. Rory is an excellent dentist and lovely chap. Only giving it 5 star because it's impossible to give higher.

Negative experience: I realise that dentistry is an uncertain business- is that discolouration decay or natural and should it be ignored or treated. I am also very motivated to keep my own teeth- there is no substitute no matter what implants salespeople say. However I am sitting here with toothache having been told by another dentist that I need root canal treatment after two crowns ( £1700) not two months ago. I went to EDC after I had taken out a recent filling by flossing my teeth, done by yet another dentist. The new EDC filling was good so I thought I would sort out my thirty year old crowns. To be fair the new crowns fit nicely but it looks like this was not the right solution and identifying the right solution is what I assumed professionals do. Would I go back and try to get them to sort it out- no. I'm not afraid of dentists but it's a question of trust. EDC have a nice reception and smiley receptionists but I'd swap all that for brute competence.

Fantastic experience: My appointment was on time and the dentist was friendly and reassuring. I was also impressed that I was able to get a hygienist appointment on the same day, despite not having prebooked one. No waiting around at all for either appointment! The staff were all friendly and cheerful which was lovely.

Fantastic experience: As a new patient, I received a very thorough examination of my teeth. I was shown the photographs and received a clear explanation of them and was advised of potential problems. The staff were friendly and efficient so, overall, a very good experience.

Positive experience: I made an appointment online but their computer system failed to book me in. I travelled from Plymouth only to find that I wasn't expected. My regular dentist, Joanna, knows the trouble I go to getting there, being severely disabled, she decided to stay on late and then saw me at the end of her day, which was very professional and kind of her.

Fantastic experience: Superb service from the moment you enter the door. Charming receptionists and extremely caring, professional dentists. Their service even extends to calling after a procedure to check that there is no pain or problem. Highly recommend this practice.

Negative experience: Called to book my husband and myself to see the hygienist. Aparantly Cannot be done due to "policy" that we must see a dentist first . They actually try to MAKE you see a dentist even without needing one . After proceeding to explain we DO NOT NEED a dentist appointment at this time , the lady on the phone said it is policy and I cannot book in our required appointment. We are PRIVATE patients and you do not tell your customers what they need!

Negative experience: So so so disappointed by the end result of my new crowns, I still am not confident to smile showing my teeth and feel like I have wasted a ton of money. I don't feel like I was listened to by the dentist at all through the process. Such a shame.

Fantastic experience: Attended yesterday for what I thought would be a torturous half hour with the dental hygienist - deep cleaning of “pockets” around front teeth. The experience was not what l had anticipated. The treatment provided by Lucy Roper was excellent. Not only did she take the time to explain what and how pockets are formed but the actual procedure was completely painless and the cleaning of the rest of the teeth was the most thorough I have had in the numerous hygienist appointments I have attended over the years. Looking forward to the review in 3 months!

Fantastic experience: An excellent dental service. So kind and helpful. The dentist explains everything and there is no pressure on you just options to consider. The hygienist is excellent, my teeth feel lovely after. I’ve had a lot of dental work in the past and they have really helped me deal with any issues that have come up from that. We have the monthly plan. Booking system is easy and they send reminders. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: So far I've only had a first appointment with Dawn but she was extremely professional and took the time to explain everything in as much detail as I wanted. I can't fault the service in any way so thorough recommended. I'm almost looking forward to going back and I never thought I'd say that about going to a dentist.

Fantastic experience: Even though I just had my first consultation with Ruairi, it's without doubt best clinic I have been to. From their time flexibility, friendliness, facilities and professionalism I have a full confidence in the treatment plan. I was missing teeth for a long time, so I will need a major reconstruction including a bone graft. Previous dentists put me off because of time schedule even before explaining me what steps need to be done. Yes they are a little bit more expensive but in my case comparing to no treatment and frustration. Extra touches like flowers, nice scent throughout, drinks on offer or being collected by your doctor from reception make you almost forget you are at dental centre:)

Fantastic experience: Fantastic place, lovely people. My new dentist, Dawn Lovell is the nicest lady I have ever met. Very reassuring and talks you through everything. My only negative would be the very strong fragrance in the reception area- very over powering.

Negative experience: This was my second hygienist appointment. Both times I’ve been rushed through and todays appointment was completed in a record breaking 20 minutes with the hygienist saying at the end.. I would need to rebook a second visit! Really! They could have completed the job with the 10 minutes still spare.. I was told exactly the same on my last visit as well.. SO it’s £120 for 2 visits at this place not £60 for the one visit and the job being completed properly. Having previously attended The Whyte House dental practice who have sadly left Exeter there is no comparison. £50 for a full whitening experience no clock watching and worth every penny.. fair to say I will not be back!
