I could tell it wasn’t an easy process and it was quite traumatic for me as I sensed how difficult it was, but as usual you succeeded kindly and gently. My teeth are a challenge. Fingers crossed my new crown lasts a few years.

Fantastic experience: I need a lot of dental work, including a bone graft and implants. I am a nervous patient, and was scared of what all this would all entail, but Mr Andrew Barber and his team have been brilliant. He talked me through all the stages of the work, explained the timeline, and showed me x-rays and images of what needed to be done and when. I have just completed the first part of the procedure, and it was a lot easier than I feared, which has given me much more confidence to face the future procedures. I had the procedure under IV Conscious Sedation, something I had never done before in my dental treatment and I am very grateful to him and his team, Pam and Kim on the day. Lovat house is a very professional and friendly team that I would recommend to anybody.

I had my teeth cleaned yesterday. Historically visiting the dental hygienist has left me on edge of anxiety for the remainder of the day. However, at lovat house dental there's nothing about the appointment that leaves me anxious or nervous. Lovat Dental Specialists are brilliant.

Fantastic experience: I am very happy with the service provided by Lovat House. I have always been very nervous of the dentist, so much so I put off going for over 15 years! But Manaf, Jane, and the rest of the staff have been very calm, patient and kind to me - and they’ve really looked after my teeth! Update: I returned again this morning for a wisdom tooth extraction, something that I have been petrified of having done for some time, but the team at Lovat put me at ease, keeping me chatting and letting me know what to expect throughout the process. I highly recommend Lovat House Dental.

Fantastic experience: Customary good treatment. Unfortunately I missed my appointment with the hygienist but the receptionists were very understanding and rescheduled it for me. I was thankful for this. My checkup, following the missed hygienist appointment, was very good. The checkup revealed that part of a filling relatively recently fitted had broken off but it was arranged for the filling to be replaced without charge. I am grateful for this.

Negative experience: My wife and I have recently moved to Cheltenham, as Lovat House is a five minute walk we opted to sign up with them. The staff were pleasant and explained everything we needed to know. Our new patient consultation confirmed their equipment was up to spec and that we had made the right choice (as we chose based on distant rather than dental competence). Their charges are a bit more expensive than our last dentist, which was in rural Moreton but that maybe the "Cheltenham large conurbation effect". We signed up for Denplan which spreads the cost and wasn't a lot more than we paid at our previous dentist for the same number of visits. A bonus for me were the original floor tiles and the magnificent fireplace in the reception and the "gentle" email reminders of our appointments". Steve and Pam Mathers

Positive experience: No complaints with the standard of dental care here, which is excellent as it always has been. (I have been a patient with Lovat House practice for well over 50 years). All the staff are very friendly and helpful. However, after the practice was taken over a few years ago the prices went up considerably, but I suppose this is the way of the world, and perhaps I have been spoilt. On the downside, I do find they are very pushy with making hygienist appointments. As an old-timer I remember when hygienists only existed in America and I don't feel the health of our teeth suffered from the lack of them here. A very occasional visit may be worthwhile, and this should be enough.There is a distinct feeling that this is largely a way to squeeze more money out of patients.

Fantastic experience: Just been to see Mr Andrew Barber for treatment of gum disease around an implant that was installed over 15 years ago. The service was superb, the problem was identified and clearly explained and a treatment plan agreed to keep the implant going for five or so years. I was expecting to go to London to find such highly specialised treatment apparently called Access Peridontal Surgery. Mr Barber was cheerful, knowledgeable and positive - and he is just down the road!!!

Fantastic experience: I became a patient of Lovat House a few years ago, principally because I had previously been treated by, and had a great deal of confidence in, one of the dentists there, whom I knew from another practice. That dentist has since retired, but I have been more than content with the service I have had subsequently from the practice as a whole. The staff are attentive, pleasant and professional and I have experienced a definite improvement in my overall dental health as a result of the treatment and advice I receive from them.

Fantastic experience: My Barber suggested that I should see my GP regarding the acid erosion I had been experiencing for many years. As a result of this, and the investigations that followed, I was diagnosed with a Haitus Hernia. It is clear that this had been causing acid erosion and I am now on appropriate medication to reduce acid reflux. I am very grateful to Mr Barber for identifying that there was a medical problem underlying my tooth erosion issues.

Fantastic experience: I recently had a crown fitted and wasn't looking forward to it, but my dentist - Malaf and his dental nurse were very professional, friendly and kept me informed of the procedure the whole time. There was no pain and they have the ability to make the crown on site which meant it was fitted in the same appointment. My new crown feels as if it's always been there! Really good work and the whole team at Lovat House Dental are very approachable and thoughtful. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: I have greatly appreciated receiving treatment at Lovat House Dental in Cheltenham. Not only do they offer a wide range of up-to-date services - I would cite restorative dentistry in particular - but they do so to the highest professional standard. For me this involves un-rushed interviews and examinations that cover every aspect of a patient's needs and expectations; then the capacity to carry them out at that level. I have marvelled at these skills because of the occasional requirement to go beyond the scope of a regular dentist, however the cost is borne (although standard-priced dentistry is also offered). Backed up by an extremely friendly, relaxed and efficient reception team, this is an impressive and most effective practice.

Fantastic experience: Staff are always very friendly and helpful, especially as I have mobility problems. Saw Rebecca, who is always a joy. Quite expensive for 15 minutes, I thought.

Negative experience: Pros: The dentists are knowledgable. James has been very good with both general dental work and aesthetic treatments. He has always taken time to discuss different options with me and answer any questions I might have. The team are all superficially very friendly and polite. Cons: Expensive. During Covid there was a mandatory surcharge added of about £5 for each visit to cover cost of PPE which appeared to be excessive. The practice has lost the warmth it had when Mr Stanley and Mary were there. It is very evident that this place is run as a profit making business now.

Positive experience: Very expensive. I didn’t feel like I got much for my money. I saw Andrew Barber for teeth clenching and grinding. He’s obviously very knowledgeable and qualified but I was asked the same question about 3 times and I got tired of saying the same thing. I didn’t understand why he asked me certain questions, it just felt invasive. I felt like the ‘bedside manner’ of the dentist was shocking! He didn’t listen to me at all and I could hardly speak because he didn’t stop and listen. I didn’t get a report at the end of my review, which is the least I would have expected. The examination was very thorough but I don’t feel like I’ve been helped much, or that they found my problem. It was reassuring to know I didn’t do too much visible damage to my teeth with my clenching but I’m still in pain. It happens when I drink hot drinks and I feel like they should have been able to help me resolve this. I was desperate to see a dentist quickly, and this clinic had more availability than my usual one, but I wouldn’t return.

Fantastic experience: I have visited Lovat House as a child and have recently returned after a few years absence from dental care. The booking process is most efficient, the receptionist’s are welcoming and the dentist was professional and reassuring, as was the dental hygienist. Collectively they have regained my trust. I am looking forward to continuing my dental care here once again on a more regular basis.

Negative experience: Two stars for the clinic staff, they were always lovely/knowledgeable. -3 stars for the front desk staff, we felt they were not understanding and most of the time had a rude attitude make us not feel welcomed. Being the front/face of the business when dealing with customers means that the first impression is what counts for many, and for us unfortunately it did not work out and we will take our business elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: Absolutely delighted with Andrew Barber’s work to implant an upper molar tooth replacing a tooth which had fractured at the root. Excellent treatment throughout the process which included a sinus lift and a graft on the gum in addition to the implant and crown. Andrew and the rest of the team were all very kind and considerate throughout the process and I am very pleased with the result.
