Fantastic experience: Outstanding. Dr James Critchley and his team ( including receptionist) are really customer focused. I’m not a great lover of dentist but just had treatment and I am overwhelmed by how I never even felt all the required local injections ( that’s a first and I’m 72 years old), the treatment plan was well set out in advance, fully explained with a ongoing conversation of each part of my treatment. The ongoing support and customer service is above and beyond. Look forward to such a calm atmosphere on my future treatments. Further treatment on my 4 crowns, even after only 30 days approx 1 broke but the communication with Pitville from my cruiser was brilliant and a booking to repair was confirmed from the Mediterranean for appointment upon my return. Since then better anchorage for the broken crown has had to be completed. This is now in progress with the outstanding team ( receptionist, dental nurse/assistant, to the dentist explaining the unfortunate break and on going replacement. Great dental surgery- recommended

Fantastic experience: Unrivalled quality of care and professionalism. This is a practice at the very top of the dentistry profession. Having had some poor dentistry experiences when young, I have a level of anxiety which perhaps belies my age and manner. I find the team at Pitville Lawn exemplary in both the way they greet and manage appointments but crucially also in the way diagnosis and treatment is executed. The level of attention to explaining what is being done at each step of the treatment and the genuine care and consideration is so reassuring. Positive experience: Very well handled with Covid safe guards in place. Only waited about 6minutes for appointment and no waiting time between hygienist and dentist. Both appointments handled very professionally. Sadly I couldn’t see my usual dentist.

Fantastic experience: Daria is an excellent dentist who always puts me at ease, somehow seems to remember important stuff about my family and takes particular care with pain relief, especially on root canal stuff! I’ve had quite a bit of treatment in the last year and she’s given me first-class dental treatment! I’ve not been the easiest patient over the years but if you’re looking for a dentist who really cares I’d recommend Daria wholeheartedly!

Fantastic experience: Had a wisdom tooth removed and Daria (apologies if wrong spelling) was excellent. The anaesthetic jabs were very gentle and the tooth was out before I knew it - highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: As a life long phobic of anything dentist or teeth related, I was forced to address my fears and go due to excruciating pain! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by lovely, friendly faces who calmed me down and reassured me. The dentist, Tom, was so understanding and gentle, constantly checking I was ok and telling me to say at any point I wanted to stop. He talked me through everything and gave me options, then reassured me yet again that it would all be done under my terms etc. I'm actually looking forward to going back!!! Fantastic experience: I normally hate getting fillings, both the experience and the time it takes everything to settle down. But in this case, I didn't even feel the needle go in for the anesthetic, and certainly nothing during the procedure. Then afterwards no soreness where the needle went it, and no pain from the filled tooth, and I could bite on it almost immediate. As close as you can get to a pleasant filling!

Fantastic experience: Pittville lawn staff, especially Dr James Critchley exceeded my expectations. For something that is to many a nerve wracking experience, I was made to feel relaxed, reassured, informed and cared for.

Negative experience: My Daughter, who is terrified of needles and blood, had an appointment to have a baby tooth removed. I went into the surgery a day before the extraction to ask that the dentist be reminded of this and for her not to go into details when performing the extraction and to be aware of my daughters concerns. The nurse I spoke to and the receptionist were very reassuring and helpful. On arrival for the appointment the receptionist described the procedure as ‘a big’ appointment. When we saw the dentist she said I have been asked not tell you the details which immediately worries my daughter rather than just explaining minimally what she was doing. After numbing the area the dentist just got a huge needle and tried to inject it. My daughter became very upset and started crying. Neither the dentist or the nurse seemed to know how to respond. The dentist put the needle down but did not cover it and neither she nor the nurse knew what to do next. I eventually calmed my daughter and she agreed to have more numbing gel and try that way. The gel began to run onto her tongue which she found very uncomfortable. The dentist then did act quickly and decisively and pulled the tooth out. However, she then asked my daughter if she would like to see it/ keep it. The whole experience was very traumatic.

Fantastic experience: Just outstanding dentistry from James. No wonder he mentors other dentists. It’s not just his skill as a dentist - it’s his calm, friendly manner and precise communication through every step of the process which makes you feel completely at ease. You have to bear in mind, I have had experiences in my childhood akin to Dustin Hoffmann’s being terrorised by Sir Lawrence Olivier in Marathon Man, so it’s a big deal for me to find someone at the very top of the dentistry profession who provides a pain free service!

Negative experience: Mr Critchley is a fine dentist but you rarely get to see him. Check ups are carried out by a lady called Una a nice enough lady but has the habit of cancelling your appointments at short notice ( 3 times) my last appointment was preceded by a request for up front payment incase I was a no show. Honestly I should be asking them for a deposit to honour their side. Annoyed so left the money grabbing practice

Negative experience: Definitely not impressed with the service received at this clinic. The dental exam seemed rushed, they missed several issues, and it took them over a month to put together a treatment plan, which they only provided after several enquiries from my side. They mentioned the reason for the delay was that treatment plans are complex and include a lot information, but once I received it and to my disappointment, it was clear it included only the same basic information that was discussed during the consultation, it was generic and barely tailored to my case, almost like a copy paste from the website price list, and the information it included was not fully accurate. By then, fortunately, I had already found another clinic.

Fantastic experience: Malcolm and the team were great. Nerves put at ease with informative but light/funny chat throughout. Very glad I've now switched from the NHS to private.

Negative experience: Your endodontist did not idenitfy a vertical crack in my tooth whoch was clearly visib;le to the naked eye, instead I was charged for x-rays & scans & was told that my fragile tooth was ok for a root filling.I told him on both visits that I had a foul taste in my mouth, had bad breath & was in pain. I had to visit my practice dentist on emeregency last week. He saw the vertical crack & the tooth hasd to be extracted on an emergency appointment.

With extensive covid-19 protocols in place, I felt safe and secure, and while the treatment took slightly longer, the outcome was still of the highest standard.
