Welcome to mydentist Chichester Road, Copnor. We are a 5-surgery practice with 5 clinicians on hand to provide a variety of NHS, private and myoptions treatment plans including facial aesthetics, take home teeth whitening and orthodontic solutions such as clearcorrect, Invisalign Go, Six Month Smiles and Quick Straight Teeth. Within our team we have Mr Yathesa Sreecumaar who has a particular interest in orthodontics as well as being brand ambassador for denture excellence focusing on high quality private dentures. We also have a Hygienist on hand to provide a variety of hygiene appointments. Our practice is a 5 minute walk from Copnor Road bus stop and a 25 minute walk from Hilsea train station, public parking is limited.

Negative experience: I was with this dentist as an NHS patient for over 17 years as a regular user. Then during Covid they cancelled my check up appointment and despite phoning for several years after they said they were not taking check ups. Surely, there is an obligation on the dentist to make a re-appointment when they cancel. Through no fault of my own and poor communications from the dentist I now find out I am no longer registered. I received no notification to say they had started taking appointments again yet they've now struck me off as an NHS patient. There again, I think that is probably what they wanted.
Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to mydentist and from reception staff to the dentist Mr Rohith Prabhakar the experience was very positive and friendly.

Negative experience: I leave work earlier (my shift ends at 12:00), take a taxi to pick up my daughter from home, and head to the dentist on time. My daughter's appointment is at 12:00. We wait and wait. 34 minutes. The front desk should have scheduled an appointment for 12:30. Everything would have been fine. Easy and don't rush. Please, respect other people's time and money.

Although we work hard to keep appointments to time, regrettably there can be emergency cases, or unexpected events in treatments, that may cause appointments to overrun. Where this occurs, we would expect that patients are kept fully informed and offered the option to re-arrange. If on this occasion the reception team failed to do so, please accept our sincere apologies. Please be assured I will discuss your review with the Practice Manager and if training gaps are identified, we will ensure that further training is put into place with our staff.

Negative experience: Children's appointments were cancelled by text the week before, but their dentist left the practice 5 months ago. Why not tell people you don't have a replacement dentist in advance to warn people. Terrible customer service.

Fantastic experience: Great practice. The receptionist are polite and friendly, and happy to answer any questions. The nurses collect you from the waiting room and put me at ease. My dentist is amazing explains everything clearly and how and why procedures need to be done. He gives you time to relax take a break if needed and makes sure you aren’t feeling any pain.

Negative experience: Disaster, they moved my away from NHS into the private account without my permision, I hope I do not have to explain the implications...
Thank you for your feedback. Your previous treating dentist has taken the decision to move away from offering NHS dental services. Due to this they are no longer able to offer NHS appointments and are offering dentistry on a private only basis. This change has reduced NHS capacity at your practice. Until NHS capacity can be expanded, the practice does offer alternative private options. These are provided outside of their NHS commitments. We hope that these alternatives will help some patients to access dental care at this time. Please contact the practice should you require more information; they will be happy to discuss with you your needs.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to this dentist and my first impressions were very good. On entering the building and walking to reception I noted how clean and nicely presented it was. I was greeted straight away by one of the receptionists who took my details. I didn't have to wait long and was taken in to meet my dentist Andreia Dumitrescu who was very friendly and welcoming. She went through my health questionnaire, was thorough in her examination and took a couple of x rays. All was good so no visit for another year. All in all a very pleasant experience!

Fantastic experience: Visited Mydentist today for a filling. I'm not a fan of needles and as the treatment required anesthetic, I was over thinking it. Dr Shlomo Hayut & nurse Ela did a great job of relaxing me and ensured I was happy to proceed. The entire procedure took 1 hour and they checked on my welfare regularly throughout. I was shown a picture of my damaged tooth before, during & after treatment and the final result is fantastic. A white filling was used and it looks like a normal tooth. I'm extremely happy with the service I received today and Mydentist is extremely lucky to have such a professional team working for them. Highly recommend this dentist.

Negative experience: Came in for a filling end of December was told it will be covered for a year due to it being a front tooth, costing nearly £300 called them now 3 times first call being in February and each time tried telling me I need to pay another check up fee for the filling being chipped that I was covered for, told them I am not paying a check up fee and each time told they will speak to the dentist who done it and get back to me and still 3 calls later different months no one has contacted me back! Absolute joke of a dentist The actual dentist man was brilliant I couldn’t fault him

My anxiety was taken seriously and the dentist Andreia and her assistant were both caring and respectful. I was talked through everything that happened with no rushing. Fantastic experience: Have had to make a few appointments for a root canal and treatment, all the staff are very friendly and make you feel at ease. Debbie is a fantastic reception manager and always willing to help with appointments. My Dentist Rob Pravhakar makes you feel comfortable and explains all the options that are available to you and really wants to help with the best outcome for treatment, along with his dental nurse Gracie who does a great job at assisting and has a caring and calm attitude, they are both a huge asset to the practice.

Negative experience: Dentist Andrea is lovely but the practise itself is terrible. I have been told to call four separate times to rebook and each time been told another date to call back. The receptionist clearly had no idea what was going on and her only answer was call back in 6 months. After almost 2 years of trying to get an appointment it’s left me no other option but to look elsewhere. I understand Portsmouth has a shortage of dentists but after being told directly from the dentist herself there is availability and to call back and again being pushed aside is ridiculous. Don’t tell people a date if you can’t stick to it and then encourage people to make regular appointments. It doesn’t work

I am sorry to hear that you have experienced problems accessing NHS dental care at your practice It may help to explain that if a patient does not attend the practice for a 2-year period they can be removed from the practice list. If we do not hear from a patient in this time, we must assume they are being seen elsewhere for their oral hygiene check-ups. At your last check-up, the dentist will have advised when you should next attend, this is usually either 6 or 12 months, it is then the responsibility of the patient to make sure they book this next check-up at the given time. Failure to do so, will result in removal from the practice books, in order to create space for the growing waiting list of patients trying to access NHS dentistry.
It may be helpful to use our website or the NHS website to locate a practice within your area that may have the capacity to take on new patients.

Negative experience: Been an NHS patient here for over 10 years, a working mum of a toddler (so cannot travel far everyday to go here there and everywhere as do not drive) and been in agony with a filling needing to be repaired. Only told to call back every morning as I do dead on 8:30 and never an NHS appointment available. Only told to call 111, which only provide temporary care and have been told that ny dental clinic has a duty of care to deal with a permentant solution and need to source me an appointment within the next 24hrs. The practise states theres nothing they can do. Here I am 2 weeks later still unable to get an appointment and it really feels they do not care for their patients. This has been one horrendous month for us and hit us hard financially in different ways, so I do not have the money to go private for this treatment and as an NHS patient I should not have to. I should not have to choose between having a painfull filling sorted or putting food on the table. I understand times are hard and have changed, however there must be a solution.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service and care. As I am Profoundly Deaf, the Dentist wrote EVERYTHING down ; so I would understand. The receptionists and dental nurses are always very friendly. . Negative experience: Kicked off their books, its not my fault they kept cancelling appointments (also good at this pre covid). Not seen a dentist since 2019. Told ring 111, joke. Negative experience: Have been a patient at this practice for well over ten years attending regular 6 monthly check ups and required work. Then for some reason not explained to me or even informed of when attending a appointment with Andrea was told I had been transferred to another dentist at the practice, which I was not too happy about as I am so anxious at appointments but once I get to know the dentist after a few visits I’m fine. Then in 2022 when I hadn’t received a text for my 6 monthly check I phoned the practice to be informed my dentist had left, and was now without a dentist! (If I hadn’t phoned would they ever have told me.) Was informed to phone back in three months as they were looking for a replacement, which I did, no replacement found phoned again twice at three monthly intervals still no replacement found. On Friday my crown fitted by them fell out thought foolishly under the circumstances they would see me as a emergency couldn’t have been more wrong they were not in the least interested and was informed to ring 111. Am left feeling extremely worried and anxious thinking about getting this sorted, not to forget the pain I’m in. I suffered a mini stroke a few years ago and the worry of this is something I can really do without.

Negative experience: I've been registered here for 3 years but have not been able to get a check up appointment for nearly 18 months. I've just been told to call 111 to get a filling replaced because their one NHS dentist will only see their specific patients. Avoid
As you may be aware, we do have several dentist vacancies at your practice and are actively trying to recruit. Unfortunately, recruitment of dentist’s post pandemic is proving extremely difficult. There is a shortage of dentists in the UK which is making attracting dentists to certain areas of the country more difficult and we are experiencing challenges in recruiting to the area. However, we are looking at all options to attract and re-locate dentists to your practice. Please be assured that the vacancies are not through any lack of trying or apathy on our part, purely that recruiting dentists, is proving difficult.
However, whilst we are recruiting, if you experience a dental emergency, e.g. pain, swelling or bleeding then you can still contact the practice and they will triage your symptoms and advise you how obtain emergency assistance until the practice is fully staffed.

Negative experience: The model of my dentist seems to be to get NHS patients to spend as much money as possible on private care. This is not good for the patient. If I could find another NHS dentist I would move. If you do get to see a dentist they are ok. In response to the reply: I think you have missed my point. I needed a wisdom tooth out after repeated infections, I was pressured to pay for private care with mydentist rather than wait for an NHS appointment. I was told I could be waiting years. I chose to wait for an NHS appointment but was seen in weeks. Another time I paid for a private scale and polish. I was told that I NEEDED to come back because I was at risk of gum disease. If I NEED an appointment then I should be able to get it on the NHS and not have to pay mydentist’s exorbitant fees, and the reason things had gotten so bad is because I was reluctant to pay mydentist’s fees and had not been offered an NHS appointment, despite being a patient at the dentist for a number of years. At my previous dentist if I needed a scale and polish I was offered one on the NHS without any issue.

Where NHS appointments are not available we do have alternative private options which are outside of the practices NHS obligations which in some cases will result in an appointment being completed sooner. We will always offer patients this option as an alternative, so our patients can make an informed choice on their dental care. Negative experience: My husband was sent an NHS Penalty Charge Notice as an emergency visit was logged as him in receipt of Jobseekers allowance, which he is not. Spoke to the surgery, paid in full. Was assured all sorted. Now being chased by NHS for £123.80. Tried getting hold of the manager. Losing the will to live as the Manager must be as real as a unicorn.

Despite our best efforts at continuous care for our patients, sometimes it is not always possible for a patient to see the same dentist. As we have a duty of care to all our patients, appointments are made so that patients can receive the planned treatment rather than postponing it as this could have a detrimental effect on a patient's oral health. We do always try to put a patient with the same dentist where possible but if an appointment is for an assessment or emergency appointment as opposed to actual treatment, the appointment will be made with the first available dentist.

Fantastic experience: Very strict rules in place at the moment re COVID, but it made for a very efficient appointment. The staff were very welcoming and clear when I arrived. I lost a filling over Christmas, but was able to get an appointment a week after calling (I wasn't in pain so didn't ask for an urgent one) and they fixed it on the day. The cost was cheaper than I expected too. All in all a very positive experience, I'd definitely recommend this practice.

Fantastic experience: Prompt and caring service, developed a raging toothache and rang My dentist, was answered with only a queue of one, spoke to triage and then a dentist less than an hour later. Was even able to pick up a prescription from the chemist less than 3 hours after my initial call. Just waiting for a call for the actual face to face appointment, but I'm now out of pain and looking forward to treatment.
