Fantastic experience: I’ve always had a dread of going to the dentist. Consequently my teeth were in a bit of a state. I reluctantly went to City Bridge and right from the start the experience was really good. Shelly, one of the really friendly receptionists, took time to assure me that the dentist was really gentle. Mark, the dentist who treated me was great he was patient, and took the time to explain everything he was going to do. I would have no hesitation to recommend this dental surgery to any body,even those like myself who are a bit wary. My teeth look and feel great now

This meant that my bite was not affected and there was no knock- on effect to adjacent teeth thus avoiding any problematic pain in my mouth etc.

Fantastic experience: After the implants over a period of nearly two years arrangements were made to see a hygienist at City Bridge. The hygiene session went well and for the first time in my life I was given good detailed instructions as to how to really keep teeth and gums clean. I am impressed not only by the thoroughness of the cleaning session, but also the detailed instructions. A follow up session is booked for three months time. Overall the standard of care is very high - everything I have come to expect from City Bridge.

Fantastic experience: Similar to many others I had a very good experience here. I needed an implant and crown. Nick Ross was excellent throughout. It was expensive, about 25% more than other private implant options in Winchester, but was recommended by a number of friends and I'm glad I chose to go with Nick. He is great at putting you at ease even through the unpleasant pulling of the old tooth, and it was easy to relax and trust he was doing good work. The treatment plan went as expected and the end result is excellent, the new crown looks very natural and compared to another older crown next to it, from another dentist, it looks like an original tooth. I had no problems during the treatment, and getting appointments quickly was easy, they were able to start the process two weeks after I decided to go for it. I went for two years 0% finance offered by the clinic, which was arranged easily and smoothly. Expensive but worth it, in my opinion. I only saw Nick Ross, and can't comment on any of the other dentists working there. December 24.

While treatment is expensive, you only have one set of teeth from early in your life and they're worth protecting. Fantastic experience: Warned that a 2.5 hour appointment was necessary for a crown on a large dodgy molar I put it off for almost a year. And now I feel a fool as the process was completely pain free and the time just whizzed by. Nick and his nurse were marvellous and the technology making the crown was both amazing and fascinating to see. Out to play bridge in the evening my partner expected me to cancel or at least feel discomfort but not a bit of it - not even a paracetamol suggested nor needed. What an amazing service. Positive experience: I am very nervous of the dentist and Mark always makes me feel comfortable and talks me through the whole procedure, so I know what is going to happen. Mark, at City Bridge Dental Clinic, is incredibly attentive, thorough and I have now had four crowns with him. Obviously, you get what you pay for and each crown is expensive (which is why I have knocked off one star and given 4 not 5 out of 5! If I could give a mark out if ten, it would be 9!) but they fit like a glove and you are paying for the technological advancement in dentistry and their expertise. I would recommend City Bridge to friends.

Very friendly staff, from my first interaction with reception, throughout my first consultation with my practitioner, and through all further appointments for implant treatment. Nothing was too much trouble for the team. I was kept fully informed and included throughout all treatment options and decisions, and it was obvious to me that it was important to Nick, my practitioner and all nurses, that they achieved the best possible outcome for me. I felt I was listened too, especially as the treatment was at the front of my mouth. I’m thrilled with the final result, which looks completely natural and better than I was expecting.

The surroundings are excellent, and a good multi story carpark very close in Chesil street. Negative experience: Nice clean surgery, BUT I booked for an emergency and he wouldn't do a molar repair. So, I had to go home and repair my own back tooth myself! I spent hours trying to cover all the sensitive dentine up at the back of my mouth and do it really properly so that it doesnt hurt.Very hard to do that was What is it with dentists? They drag you away from your major issue and start talking about all your other teeth and how they have to be dealt with as if that is going to help ! Blah charged me emergency fees for doing nothing!!!!

Fantastic experience: Receptionists, dentist (Nick Ross), atmosphere, all superb. I contacted this clinic based on a recommendation from a trusted neighbour. This, after having had an awful experience with another local clinic. If you are someone who does not have the pearly whites of celebrities but are more like me: someone who has had dental trouble from childhood, go to this clinic. They are friendly, they are discreet and they are, most importantly, professional. Nick Ross immediately put me at ease. He has an exceptional chair-side manner, explains things carefully and sorts things out efficiently. My first appointment was an emergency one and I was so grateful for the welcome I received. It’s a private practice but it’s worth every penny. You really do get what you pay for. I’m now a fully signed up patient and it’s a relief to have found an excellent dentist.

Fantastic experience: Have only been for my new patient check in but was greeted by friendly reception staff. Dentist / dental nurse took time to talk to me about what I was looking for and dentist was V gentle friendly and gave good advice and options. Particularly liked watching the fish in the screen above the chair. Although I'm not looking forward to my treatments particularly it seems that everyone will do all they can to make everything as easy and comfortable as possible.

Fantastic experience: High quality dentist. Parking in Chesil multistorey. (Town hall and cathedral nearby for your driver if you get a lift!). All staff friendly. Surgery is a converted building so mobility access is not so good. It is private so be ready! From experience of other private dentists prices are slightly higher but obviously dependent on location costs, types of treatment. I am going again.

Fantastic experience: This practice is a bit pricey, but if making you feel special is a thing for a visit to the dentist, these people definitely have it off to a tee. You receive top notch care. The staff are all absolutely lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. They communicate well by email and text reminders. Parking isn’t as much of a faff as I thought it might be given they don’t have private parking. The Chesil Rd car park is a two minute walk away and you can pay on the app while you wait for your appointment (not that they keep you waiting for long). I have seen Mark the dentist who did a couple of delicate fillings - one on a receding gum that I didn’t know was even possible. My previous dentist hadn’t offered it. Having it done has helped me greatly. Mark was kind and listened to my personal concerns. Initially I was looking for a holistic dentist but they know their stuff here and I was comfortable about expressing my specific needs and questioning what they use, etc. They gave me the time and seemed to understand where I was coming from. I have also seen Sarah the hygienist who is absolutely super. She cleaned my ultra sensitive teeth without any pain using some high tech air system. I was amazed. Seeing the hygienist hasn’t previously been a very pleasant experience but this time was quite different. Sarah is a lovely lady, very professional and extremely knowledgeable. She explained some things to me about how the bacteria in our mouths work that I hadn’t heard before but am glad I know now. I am new to the practice but each of my visits has been stress free and really quite comfortable. I can definitely recommend.

Negative experience: You would expect the most expensive private dentist in Winchester to offer excellent patient service. Think again. I have had 7-8 appointments and have never been seen earlier than 10 minutes late, usually 15-25 minutes. Last week I was telephoned by the practice asking me to reschedule my 10am appointment to 11.15am. It wasn't entirely convenient, but I agreed as a favour to the practitioner, whom I like. I arrived at 11.23am, having had some difficulty obtaining a parking ticket. I wasn't called, and so settled in for the usual wait . A few minutes later a receptionist said they would not honour the appointment, because it would make the next patient late. This despite the fact that the practitioner was not available when I arrived. They could 'fit me in' that afternoon. I refused this generous offer, having pm work commitments, and annoyed by its staggering hypocrisy. The patient waiting next to me commented they had done the same thing to her. There was no willingness to modify this stance, and no willingness on my part to stand this stunningly disrespectful behaviour, so we had arrived at a classic impasse. I left, and will find services elsewhere, where having my teeth cleaned will probably cost less than £150. On cost, I will just mention that on my first visit the managing partner estimated the cost of 'sorting out' my dental work at £17,000, though he did pop downstairs as I was leaving to tell me the good news that it was only £12,000.... I had the two crowns and two fillings I needed done elsewhere, to a very good standard, for less than £1300.

Fantastic experience: Since I moved away from Winchester, I haven't attended City Bridge Dental but after reading these (admittedly old) reviews I thought it was worth adding my own experience of the practice. Yes, it is expensive and it may be tempting to question the fees. However, there is also the question of quality of work. I first went to the practice in 1998 after problems with another (cheaper) dentist's attempts to fix one of my crowns. Nick Ross was happy to sort things out for me and the crown he gave me is still in situ. A similar thing happened years later when I needed a crown after a section of tooth broke off a week before I was due to go holiday. My then dentist told me it couldn't be arranged in time and as my problem was not an 'emergency' there was nothing she could do. To me, it was an emergency and in a panic, I again contacted City Bridge Dental. As soon as I heard the receptionist's calm response, I knew everything was going to be OK. And it was. There were no problems, no insistence that I register first, no having to wait. Nick Ross was busy but Mark Aston expedited a new crown that fitted perfectly - and again is still in situ. Which brings me to the crux - nothing City Bridge has done for me has ever failed and that includes fillings as well as crowns. I live in Gloucestershire now and am happy with my present dentist but if I needed any major work done I might still return to the City Bridge practice. Expensive? Yes, but can one put a price on peace of mind?
