Fantastic experience: this centre is truly excellent. Nigel Williams solves every dental problem with huge expertise. His nurse is also excellent and reception are always cheerful and helpful.

Fantastic experience: For someone, like me who has a phobia of dentists after years of tooth problems, the amazing staff and car care I received was outstanding. Special thank you to Dentist Rachel and dental nurse Rachel who went above and beyond to make the appointments ments a positive experience.

Fantastic experience: I'm a relatively new patient at Hay on Wye Dental Centre. My first appointment was due to an infection and subsequent extraction (I was unable to get an NHS appointment or receive NHS treatment.) I was in a lot of discomfort and was gatefully able to get an emergency appointment within a couple of hours with Hay on Wye. From the reception team to the dentists I've seen and their nurse, the service has been first class and caring. I was advised of any issues, treatment planned and the subsequent dental work to be undertaken and advised of fees. All with care, professionalism and when appropriate, good humour. It can be stressful having dental treatment, but at the dental centre, I have experienced very limited discomfort. Would certainly recommend Hay on Wye Dental Centre. Thanks to all the staff

Fantastic experience: I am really pleased with the dental appointments and the treatment I have received from Dr Rachel Hope. I appreciate her professional knowledge and also her very pleasant, friendly and caring manner. I feel lucky to have her as my dentist. I would also mention how friendly the dental nurses and receptionists are. They too are appreciated.

Negative experience: I broke a tooth at the end of November, and could not go to my dentist as they could not see me until after Christmas. So I decided to ring around and found that this dentist could take a look at my tooth. I was given X-rays, and then was told that my tooth had no decay and they could pair my tooth. I was given an appointment for the repair. I was telephoned the January morning of the repair and told that I was late for my appointment. I was surprised as I had a print out from them clearly stating the time of appointment and told them so. They insisted that I was not correct and that I had it wrong. I arrived at the appointment to be told that they had it wrong and that they had changed my appointment and had neither asked me or told me. Well unless they consult me on the matter, how was I to know about the change of time? Also how could they do that and expect that I would be able to make that time without asking me if I minded? When I finally was able to see the dentist I was told that the dentist could not repair my tooth that day but could only do a temporary repair as she did not have enough time. I suspect that was due to the change of time that they had arranged for me without my knowledge. So I had the temporary repair done hoping to protect my tooth until the repair. £75.00 for the temporary repair. An extra cost to me. They could not see me until March for the repair, I was told. I was not happy as the only reason I went to them in the first place was because I was led to believe they could sort my tooth quickly. Beginning of March arrives and I have the repair done over an hour in the chair and a lot of discomfort that i put up with bravely. i just wanted the tooth fixed. I step off the chair to be told immediately that the repair might not hold and if so I would need to have my tooth fixed again using the temporary repair material she had just removed from my tooth. Shocked I probed the matter and the dentist said there was a lot of decay. Decay, I exclaimed! “Yes decay”. “Why”, said I. The dentist shot to her desk and said, “shall we make you an appointment for next week and see if we need to make any adjustments to your filling”. As I left the Dental centre and entered my car a I spat out a small piece of tooth that removed itself from my new filling. Another, came off the next day whilst I flossed. Another three days later for no reason. So, would I go back there? Would I recommend them? What do you think? I am down £300.00 for my filling, £75.00 temporary repair and the cost of the X-ray. I shall go back to my own dentist to see what he thinks of the tooth and their repair. A miserable and expensive time I don’t wish to repeat.

Fantastic experience: We've been struggling to get NHS appointments for some years and I've been hesitant to use a private dentist. However, from the outset Hay Dental Centre were absolutely brilliant - easy to get hold of on the phone, helpful and, when we got there, made the whole experience very smooth. Our dentist, Rachel Hope, was fantastic, especially with two children who hadn't been to a dentist in some years but are both quite excited to go back again. We weren't upsold things we didn't need and the advice we received was comprehensive. I'm very pleased we've found this practice.

Fantastic experience: I recently had dental treatment with Dr Parisha Valjee, the first treatment I have had for many years. I found her to be extremely caring and professional and the treatment was totally pain free. She was assisted in surgery by Lead Nurse Sam who was also very caring and professional. I have no hesitation in recommending them.

Fantastic experience: Not very good at going to the dentist but Dr Rachel Hope is just wonderful and has time for you. Also the hygienists can be megga hard work but in Dr Aniz Bin is by far the most gentle of any I have ever met. You can have an appointment here and have assurance that you are in safe hands.

Fantastic experience: Have been coming to the practise for the past 7 years and cannot fault the service and the level of treatment. Appointments are very flexible and suit whatever times are best for you, the receptionists are pleasant and will work with you to ensure you understand the price and any follow up appointments. The dentists and assistants are caring, informative and friendly. I have never felt uneasy and each procedure was explained fully with excellent aftercare. Although now a private only practice, I believe the service you get is worth it.

Fantastic experience: Super friendly atmosphere as soon as you arrive to your appointments from reception to seeing the clinician in our case Dr Dirksen Van Schalkwyk. After nearly 3 years since seeing a dentist due to Covid my 2 little ones were put totally at ease with our fab new Dentist.

Fantastic experience: This was my first visit to Hay-on-Wye dental surgery.. and I must say I was put at ease by the receptionist and the dentist I saw (Dr Dirksen Van Schalkwyk) the dentist seems to know his stuff and explained everything including the x-ray. Here's to hoping for more of the same. From my personal experience I would recommend this dentist to anyone who like me have had a lot of bad experiences with other dentists. Please give them a ring and give them a go I erge you..! 5* up to date.. update (9.8.22).. still there and the experience is excellent.. still having excellent work carried out with JD.. still 5***** update 11.8.22, had my dentures fitted yesterday.. excellent job by JD.. very happy next up the hygienists.. ‍ ps JDs nurse is also excellent

Friendly and helpful receptionist sorted out appointments for my wife and myself with no problems and within a few weeks of us asking for an appointment. Very simple beooking in process, and our appointment times were spot on. Hygienist was brilliant, and whereas we have both had discomfort at other dental practices, we both came away very pleased with our experience. Would have no problem recommending this practice

Dr Badiani explained clearly what was about to happen and made me feel completely at ease with the painless procedure. He did such an amazing job with my bridgework and veneers, I am so happy with the results and haven’t stopped smiling since. Dr Badiani is King of the Dentists in my book and I shall be forever grateful to him.

Negative experience: We've been with this Practice for quite a few years and are quite sad to leave really because Nigel is a great Dentist and an all round nice guy. The Hygienists have always done an excellent job on both mine and my Husbands teeth. We were very patient during the initial pandemic lockdown and continued to pay £30 per month (for both of us) into the Practice Plan throughout. Our last routine appointments were in January but even so we continued to pay in to the plan throughout. I was heartened when they told me in July that the Hygienists were being brought back to work shortly but no appointments were forthcoming and I eventually contacted them in November to be told that there was only one appointment available which either myself or Husband could have. Other local Dentists were fully operational so we had no other choice but to go elsewhere as we both desperately needed our check ups and teeth cleaning after ten months. The Practice Plan builds up funds for your next visit from the time of the last visit so my Husband and I have paid in around £300 since January and received no routine treatments and are will not be permitted a refund. It has been pointed out in an email to me that my Husband has had two emergency appointments which is true. However one was before lockdown and the second involving an extraction was at the inflated cost of £200. I've had no visits since January so I'm £150 down and we've had to pay over £200 elsewhere to get the routine treatments that we should have had at this Practice from July onwards. I realise that a small portion of our monthly fees were for emergency treatment if needed but the majority of what we paid in from January -November was for routine check ups and Hygienist appointments which weren't forthcoming. I feel especially aggrieved now as I see the Practice advertising for new patients when only a few weeks ago they were only able to offer us two check up appointments, one Hygienist consultation and absolutely no refund. This was in November, several months after restrictions were eased and it was me who contacted them, not the other way round.
