Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend Kirkgate enough. I’ve been a general patient since 2022 and started orthodontic treatment summer 2023. Claire was such a pleasure I loved going to my appointments which is pretty unorthodox for visits to the dentist haha. She was so welcoming and always so friendly and she always made sure I was comfortable. She always double checked I was happy with how my treatment was going and if I ever had any issues, she was never hesitant or offended to change something if needed or I was unhappy with anything. I had minor surgery to uncover an impacted canine and because I was an older braces patient (21), I had the surgery in house and was quite unsure of how to maintain it as it was starting to heal over so I emailed the practice. Claire called me personally on one of her days off to address my concerns and to provide comfort and advice on how to take care of my ‘wound’. I had serious crowding, an impacted canine where the baby tooth was still intact and a deep bite which have all been corrected within the time frame I was given. I got my braces off March 2025 and I couldn’t be more happy with them if I tried I’m over the moon. They look like they belong on an advert even my sister was impressed with how perfect they are and she’s a dentist herself. There isn’t a single complaint I have over the 2 and a bit years of having them I loved every second of my treatment. I’m going to miss seeing Claire every two months :)

Negative experience: Not very happy that I turned up today for an appointment and was told that the dentist I usually see does not work on Thursdays! I was given this appointment on 6 January 2025 by whoever the receptionist was that day. Didn't even get an apology from reception staff. They just looked liked they couldn't care less. This is not very good because I have a phobia of the dentist and had got all psyched up to be seen today.

Fantastic experience: So lucky to hit on this practice… moved to york and struggled to find an NHS dentist… went on their wait list and are now with the practice. Broke a tooth and was able to get in fairly quickly … range of options presented and discussed, went with a filling in short term. In and out in 20 mins.

Fantastic experience: Mrs. Sturmey is an excellent dentist who listens, gives good advice and explains all of the options. I went for a filling for a cracked molar and Mrs. Sturmey did a very thorough job. The tooth feels much better now.

Fantastic experience: I arrived early, was greeted by very pleasant friendly staff, and was seated in the light and airy waiting room, whilst the dentist was ready to see me. The patient who went in to see the dentist before me was in there slightly longer than anticipated so my appointment was about 5 minutes late. I've absolutely no problems with that. Going into the examination room I received a very warm welcome from the dental surgeon Mr Lane who took the time to ask how I was. The examination of my teeth and gums was thorough and pain free. My teeth were cleaned and x-rayed with a minimum of fuss. Mr Lane and the rest of the staff were all very calm and helpful. Ideal if your a person who has some fear of dental treatment. I cannot recommend this surgery high enough... I'm extremely pleased to be on their books. Long may it continue.
