Fantastic experience: This is the dental practice I have used for nearly thirty years. A very friendly and welcoming team across the board from reception staff to dentists. Totally competent and always there for you in an emergency

Fantastic experience: No-one 'likes' the dentist right ? Well actually do like mine . Always the most patient, kind and understanding, I have always had the best treatment from this practice. In my view going above and beyond what we tend to expect these days. I broke a tooth on my first day on holiday, emailed the surgery for advice, got an extremely prompt and helpful reply and had an appointment waiting for me on my return. Can't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic experience: From walking through the door and the friendly professional greeting to walking out I am unable to fault my experience. This was my first visit and an emergency appointment as I was suffering from toothache. The dentist was very approachable did the tests and x-rays and gave me my options. I opted for removal. Never had one before, was quite anxious but the nurse put my mind at rest, 5 min later I was walking out, I honestly felt nothing. Highly recommended (dentist was, I believe called Greg)

Fantastic experience: Following on from two previous visits up to 12 months ago to repair successfully a broken tooth each time, this was just a check up - to be on the safe side. Very competent, friendly and highly recommended dentists. Update after recent visit in July 2023: still as good as they were. Incidentally (no pun intended) I was advised against having unnecessary treatment for a small loss of enamel which felt like the Grand Canyon to my tongue. Commendable restraint by the dentist I thought. Recommended. Update after check up in August 2024: Still recommended.Update after October treatment: unbelievably prompt treatment for a broken tooth and filling. I only called in to make an appointment but I was treated almost immediately. Highly recommended (again).

Managed my ‘dental patient nerves’ with sensitivity, and put me at my ease. Would definitely recommend. Edit: Follow up appointment now completed. Restoration of two front teeth via composite bonding. Excellent quality, indistinguishable from my natural teeth (including colour matching). Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Derwent street dental practice. Mr reed is absolutely brilliant. Whenever I’ve been in pain he makes every effort to see you as soon as possible normally on the same day. I broke a tooth and he actually managed to repair it! He’s so lovely makes you feel really at ease when you have to have any work done. I recently had a visit to Greg as Mr reed was on holiday, for an urgent appointment. He was also brilliant. Very thorough, did an x ray to be sure there was no infection. And gave advice on what to take for pain, what to use to help with soreness and pain on the gum. Absolutely brilliant dental practice

Fantastic experience: I attended the dental practice at my appointment time of 18.15, which was good for me as I could attend after I finished work. I was seen on time, Mr O’Brien was professional and and had a friendly manner. He did my exam, listened to what I had to tell him, he explained everything to me and made sure I understood. Fantastic experience: I was registered at another dentist, but felt very much worried and upset after every treatment, I found Derwent Street recommended on a forum and sent an email to explain I have become anxious about my teeth and in pain. I was booked in for a new check up within a fortnight. Before I was able to go to that appointment I started again with teeth pain. I was seen that day, from the receptionist Ellie and the dentist Richard and dental nurse I was instantly made to feel at ease. Richard took time to explain and give me the information I needed to make decisions. Night grinding looks like a reasons to why, this was never even looked at by my previous dentist (very much fix and go type solutions). Imprint taken for a night guard, antibiotics and feel way more happy and confident about my dental care moving forward. 100 % happy with this surgery and so glad I made the switch!

Fantastic experience: Just after lockdown last year I developed a abscess in one of my back teeth, Denplan couldn’t really give a damn as they never answered the phone, only a recorded message so come in Derwent Street Dental Practice, I spoke with the wonderful Becky and she arranged via Mr O’Brien a 7 day course of antibiotics, however these didn’t alleviate the problem. I was then referred, by my dentist, to an NHS dentist in Chesterfield who very kindly removed the infected tooth and the abscess. If it wasn’t for DSDP I would have had more than 16 days of dental pain. I would like to thank Mr O’Brien and Receptionist Becky for their prompt work in sorting out a difficult situation which none of us had experienced before, Thank you to you both

All the staff are always very helpful and polite, and my personal dentist John O’Brien, who knows I am terrified of dentist visits, is always very empathetic and reassuring. I always took my children there and they are now in their 50’s and still go there. I would have no hesitation whatever in giving this practice my full recommendation.

Fantastic experience: This is a very friendly practice and one which keeps its staff. I have been coming here now for many years so I know this and the staff have bothered to get to know me. They are always kind and smiley, ready to be helpful and do what's right and is suitable for the patient. They care about gum health and monitor this carefully, advising on each visit. If something needs doing, they always do their best to fit it in even when unexpected. Although private sector, I've never felt their aim was to make money out of me, but rather to do their best for my dental care and keep me doing the best I can myself.

My Dentist John O’Brien is very reassuring and gentle, always explaining each step. Whenever I have had a problem with my teeth I have usually been able to get an appointment the same day and never kept waiting once arrived. The care is even more appreciated recently with needing ongoing treatment, especially grateful to John and Jemma.

Fantastic experience: On Saturday a filling crumbled away unexpectedly leaving jagged edges that my tongue kept hitting. It was a relief on Monday to phone and find the practice could get me in at 4.30pm for a temporary repair. In fact, the dentist went ahead and did a permanent repair job. It was a pleasant experience overall. Also, I’m pleased to see the practice slowly emerging from some of the Govt’s heavy-handed covid-19 restrictions!

Fantastic experience: Good, but I wish they would spend more time on trying to remove tartar build up before passing you over to the hygienist who will happily charge you more. The above was correct two visits ago, on my last visit I was very pleased to have received a more thorough examination and tartar removal, no hygienist required. Star rating improved!
