Fantastic experience: I've been a patient here since I moved to Harpenden 6 years ago and think it is an absolutely fantastic dental practice. The reception team are lovely, empathetic and will always bend over backwards to accommodate you in an emergency. The Hygienists have always been exemplary and a pleasure to go see. Of course most importantly, the team of expert dentists are second to none and they have the full range of specialists as part of the wider team to ensure they can cater to any dental issues you might have. I'll make a shout out to Sachin who is my main dentist and absolute pro. He's got the right balance of being extremely good at what he does while also being very friendly and making you feel remarkably relaxed no matter the situation. I recently had an issue with a painful wisdom tooth and having phoned at 8:20am they were able to fit me in at 8:45am on the same day and had the issue sorted by 9:30am. I couldn't have asked for more in an emergency. A top team and a great practice.

Welcoming reception and support team. It may sound strange to say this about visiting my dentist but it is always a pleasure.

Fantastic experience: I continue to be a very loyal customer of Smiles. Sachin (dentist) and Katie (hygienist) and their whole team have provided great treatments, support and advice on how best to look after and hold onto my own teeth. Wish I’d known this when I was younger! At my most recent check up, I had a pre session with Iram to talk all things dental care and hygiene, including having photos taken to keep a log on their system of any changes to my teeth or gums at future visits. It was really useful and I learnt some new tips. Never too old for a school day . I highly recommend this team for all your dental needs.

Fantastic experience: I had my first experience of Smiles of Harpenden earlier this week after 30 plus years at my previous dental surgery. I arrived at Smiles feeling extremely apprehensive as I was to have a tooth extracted, a filling and a session with the Hygienist (which I was dreading). Sachin was very kind and made me feel welcome and reassured. He carried out the treatment very gently and quickly but at no time did I ever feel rushed. I left his clinic room feeling very pleased and relieved and would like to thank him and his assistant very much for their care. I then moved on to Katie the hygienist who was so empathetic and kind and also very gentle and did a great job of cleaning my teeth. I would like to thank her and her assistant for making my visit much more enjoyable than I thought possible. A couple of days before all this treatment I had a session with Iram who, again, was very welcoming, kind and very thorough. Everyone I came into contact with at Smiles, starting with the lady on reception, was friendly and warm and I would definitely recommend this dental practice.

Fantastic experience: I booked in with Saachin to have root canal treatment and get my tooth ready for a crown, everyone from beginning to end were highly professional, caring and respectable. Unfortunately, my treatment didnt go as planned as we encountered a problem, but nevertheless, Saachin was cery honest and upfront with me. Positive experience: Recently I had an amazing digital technology procedure* to help improve how I clean my teeth. How I wish I had known this 50+ years ago. It might have prevented root canal treatment. I strongly recommend it, particularly to the young. Iram and Sachin were very caring. *The procedure was an examination carried out by Sachin and Iram which included a digital intraoral scan, plaque assessment and oral health education to provide prevention advice and to review brushing routine.

Fantastic experience: Was referred to Harpenden dental smiles and their sibling clinic via my local dentist for a root canal, since I’ve gone back to them from time to time when I can and they’ve been nothing but good to me. So I’m very grateful.

Positive experience: Had a tooth extracted this morning by Michael. Very swift and painless experience. I came in apprehensive and panicking about the effects of the anaesthetic but Michael and the lovely nurse (Kayla I think her name was) got straight down to business and it was over in no time. Very grateful.

Fantastic experience: I have had a mark on my front tooth since it came out of the gum and although it never really bothered me, I always saw it in photos. So I decided to see what could be done. Iram was extremely helpful and friendly and gave me options of what I could do about the marks on my front tooth. She was not in the slightest bit pushy with treatments or services I did not need or want. We decided on Composites for my front two teeth. There was a slot available and 2 days later I have new shiny teeth! The process takes around 30/40 minutes for 2 teeth, it’s a little uncomfortable as you need to keep your mouth open and it tastes a bit weird as the process is being done. But the dentist Sachin was lovely, professional and put me at ease and it was a smooth process. I am very pleased with the result and would recommend!

Fantastic experience: We were new to the area, in 2022, when one of my kids complained of tooth pain so after calling a few places and been told it will take weeks for someone to see us.. we ended up being seen in the same week at the Harpenden Smiles Dental Studio! Yesterday my three children had their annual check up and to see the confidence and excitement that they went in the building!! Was just amazing! It gives the kids such a boost to be treated so well! Fantastic experience: After a childhood accident requiring a lot of dentistry at a young age I developed a phobia of the dentist. After years of pain in adulthood I built up the courage to see a dentist again. A root canal I had 20 years ago had given in and Michael completed a re root canal. Although he made me feel comfortable in his care I opted for sedation which took any remaining anxieties away. The treatment was successful and my confidence has been restored. I will always opt to see Michael in the future and I will be keeping up with my regular check ups thanks to Michaels kind and reassuring nature. From start to finish Michael was open and honest about what the procedure would entail, costs and what to expect following the re root canal. Harpenden Smiles had been a breath of fresh air. Thank you for firstly, fixing my teeth, but also fixing my confidence and fear of the dentist.

Dammy Awe was brilliant with my 16 year son who has always been very fearful of the dentist after some traumatic experiences as a young boy. He treated my son with respect, kindness and empathy. I used to be incredibly anxious about going to the dentist after years of poor dental treatment and would often suffer with panic attacks. I was recommended to see Dr Dammy Awe who curated an amazing plan for me and my teeth moving forward. The plan was incredibly thought out and suited what I needed. Whilst I needed a lot of work, Dammy made sure I was always comfortable and explained every step thoroughly. The excellent service was made better by my dental nurse Tarryn Muller who not only made sure I had appointments that suited my schedule but went out of her way to speak to me after every treatment and check how I am. I know now that I can just message Tarryn and explain any issues I might be having and she will sort these out for me as quickly as possible. I have never been so confident in my dental health. I would highly recommend Harpenden Smiles if you are looking for a new or a change in dentist.

Negative experience: I wasn't very satisfied with the general approach at Harpenden Smiles and opted to get treatment elsewhere. PROS The initial consultation felt quite professional and was followed by a treatment plan outlining in detail the findings, the proposed procedures, and their estimated cost. X-rays taken during initial consultation were shared with me by email upon request. CONS Outside the building there was a plaque asking clients to wait patiently outside (e.g. in rain) if receptionist doesn't open the door promptly. I was given paperwork to sign, some of which was an agreement to have photos of my face and teeth taken and used for commercial purposes without compensation. I did not have to sign it to get treatment, but it's easy to imagine how I might have signed it without reading due to the anxiety many people feel before a visit to the dentist. The treatment plan mentioned the need to treat decay "extending below the gum line", proposed composite restoration to treat it, and advised that composite restoration cannot be used for cavities that extend below the gum line. I felt that was nonsensical and asked for clarification. I never received such clarification, instead I only got an amended treatment plan several days later.
