Sync Dental Guildford

Positive experience: Unfortunately have had to edit my 5 star review. Katherine is a brilliant dentist, made me feel very comfortable and lovely to speak to. However, I emailed asking re NHS capacity for a particular treatment, the treatment coordinator responded twice ignoring my query and said that as a I am ‘ registered as a private patient’ I could not receive NHS treatment, this is a lie and extremely misleading. I had to push again to say that NHS guidance states having previous private treatment does not impact having NHS treatment. It was only then that I was told about the waiting list for NHS treatment. As a dental practice it is very worrying that I could be misled into spending more money as a private patient.

Positive experience: My appointment was for 12 noon - maybe the last one with Mr McLean (and booked six months ago) and yet someone without an appointment pushed in to make me half an hour late ? Not an emergency ! Receptionist was busy when I left so she didn't give me my next six months appt... perhaps that could be e mailed Mr McLean was as brilliant as ever and will be missed !

Fantastic experience: Yesterday I had a 75 minute appointment for crown preparation. Despite having been a patient of Ian Mclean since he started at the practice, I was particularly nervous. Ian talked me through what he was doing every step of the way, I did actually begin to relax, so thank you Ian, I really appreciate you. See you for part 2 in two weeks time.

Negative experience: It's always a pleasure to visit the dentist who has looked after my dental health for some 30 years. He is not only a highly skilled dentist but a really great character as well. Unfortunately the future does not look too good. Not only is my dentist considering retirement but the practice in general no longer seems to provide the level of continuity that could be relied on for so many years. The receptionist who was a familiar face is no longer there and the reception area and waiting rooms have been made to look more modern, probably to appeal to a younger clientele. The new chairs are so low I had trouble getting out of one. It all looks like change for the sake of change. I would rate my dentist as highly as possible but the practice has really lost that feeling of warmth, continuity and reliability.

Negative experience: Oh Sync Dental Guildford where do I start. I was not very happy on Tuesday morning this week when I travelled to Guildford for my 9am appointment only to get a text to say my appointment was cancelled. No excuse for this. On a previous occasion I turned up for an appointment at the surgery and was told by my dentist that my appointment was cancelled. How on earth does a dental practice not have the courtesy, intelligence and initiative to call you and inform you at least the day before, some staff training comes to mind. On another occasion I turned up for an appointment and had to wait 40 minutes to be seen. I wonder if I was a private patient if I would have been treated differently. I have decided to cancel all future treatments. I have lost all faith in this surgery.

Fantastic experience: Could never ask for a better Dentist. I hate dentists at the best but they are fantastic. Very compforting when I had pain, full and detailed explaination of options and outcomes and fully informed decision. The work was painless and even more important the pain was gone. First ever extraction at age 67 and would recommend them every time

Fantastic experience: I had my first NHS appointment this week. I am am anxious patient and saw Katherine, who was brilliant. Very calm and considerate. I managed much better than I thought I would, and I think a lot of that had to do with her demeanour. She explained everything with no judgement or patronising which has often been my experience in dental surgeries before. I am definitely still an anxious patient, but feeling much more settled about our treatment plan going forwards

Fantastic experience: When you go to the dentist, and it is not necessarily something which is enjoyed by everyone, you want to be treated with respect, put at ease, and in the hands of a competent practitioner. I have no hesitation in saying that my dentist embodies all that can be asked for; she is not only a very pleasant person but is also a very fine dentist.

My daughter who has coffin-Siris syndrome +autism, has been under Ian cares since she was a little girl, she's now 37 years old and she's always had such good care and understanding from Ian and his team. Let's hope not too much changes with this lovely friendly family orientated practice.

The only thing not giving it a five star are the setting in the waiting room as they are to LOW for anyone who is old and has a problem getting up and down .

Negative experience: Nobody advised us that this practice was being taken over by Sync Dental. I'm not blaming the practice staff, but the whole takeover process was flawed as many patients like us had been with the practice for over 40 years and were told nothing about the takeover.

The receptionist, Tris is always warm and welcoming However I don't like what has been done to the once warm and friendly building. It is now cold and clinical and made me feel quite uncomfortable. Simon was once again warm and friendly and put me at my ease. However the waiting room has changed out of all recognition. The feeling is sterile and cold and makes me think of changing my dentist.

Positive experience: We have been long time patients of Mr McClean who we rate very highly, and will be very sorry if he decides to retire, hopefully, Sync Dental can persuade him stay on a part time basis. While the renovation work is going on it’s not ideal for patients to have to sit in the reception area.
