Smiles by Gurms

Negative experience: Firstly I’d like to make it clear, I did not receive any, what appears to be fantastic treatment from Smiles by Gurms, they are award winning fo a reason. HOWEVER, I had an initial free consultation with a fantastic practitioner, for teeth alignment with Invisalign and potential tooth build up from grinding. I was quoted £5000, when I had been quoted from another practice the same treatment for £3500. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and booked in for £80 to see Dr Gurms. When I arrived, I was given what appeared to be a health questionnaire, but also contained questions regarding my place of work, job description, family circumstance etc. I then had the consultation with Dr Gurms, he followed up with probing about my circumstances. The quote went from £5000, to £10000 for the same treatment… I questioned the price, he tried to sell me a story of working with me and the level of his treatment… I have since these appointments had the same treatment from another practice for £3500. As I said originally, Smiles by Gurms didn’t provide any award winning treatment to me, but they do price you up, distastefully.

Fantastic experience: The appointment with Holly for Oral hygiene was helpful. She provided great guidance and tips on how to ensure that I am using the right products to keep my teeth in the best condition possible. I would recommend this service to everyone!

Fantastic experience: I recently had the LumiEyes treatment at Smiles by Gurms and I couldn't be happier with the experience, all thanks to the incredible Bayleigh! From the moment I walked in, Bayleigh made me feel completely at ease with her warm and professional demeanor. She thoroughly explained every step of the treatment, answering all my questions with patience and expertise. Her skill and precision were evident, I felt completely confident in her hands. The results of the treatment are absolutely fantastic – my under-eye area looks so much brighter and more rejuvenated, and I've received so many compliments! This a 5-star experience.

Fantastic experience: I went to Smiles by Gurms after struggling to find a dentist who could help with my narrow teeth and achieve a more symmetrical look. I had consultations with four different dentists, including one who was supposedly the best in Birmingham, but they all said my case was out of their scope. I had almost lost hope…until I found Smiles by Gurms. My treatment included Invisalign, metal braces, a dental implant, and finally, cosmetic bonding. Throughout the process, I asked for a natural look (and made it clear I didn’t want to look like a donkey!), and that’s exactly what I got. I’ve been coming here for a couple of years and have had unfailingly excellent experiences with the hygienist team, with the lovely people on reception, and with the dentists. I had to have a wisdom tooth out this week and Dr Gurms did such an amazing job that it was literally painless, both during the procedure and in the aftermath. I feel blessed to have access to this wonderful team and recommend them enthusiastically!

Negative experience: This place was good when he was working solo… travelled to go see him… now I am with another dentist at this practice and they are rubbish and incompetent…. Have been waiting months for a email back re a paid for re consultation. Everything was addressed for quick Money making but not the original reason why I went in. Not worth the travel time or the headache caused by the receptionist. When people franchise this is what happens. Will be looking for someone competent locally.

Fantastic experience: Lovely experience at Smiles by Gurms with Dr Devan Pankhania. I'm not confident showing my smile but Dr Devan was very kind, welcoming and knowledgeable. He is honest with the results he can provide. Looking forward to starting my journey with Invisalign.

Negative experience: I had treatment with Gurms for invisalign. I had a complex case where i suffer tmj, misaligned teeth and a deep bite. I have been informed Gurms sold me the i7 package which is a package to treat minor issues only so this was the wrong package for my needs. Then due to covid there were further delays which meant i kept weekly aligners on for several weeks. I had a total of 21 aligners over a 52 week period. Gurms did not deliever the outcome i expected and then refused to extend the treatment plan even though he said he would prior to taking all my money. When i told him i was not happy with the outcome he advised me to spend 1k on cosmetic bonding to fix the misaligned teeth which I refused. I paid £2.700 for my treatment excluding consultation. For a whole year he kept inviting me in to talk about the issues so i went back n forth wasting time at his practice trying to get further tretment. After a whole year he offered me full refund and when i accepted but he then retracted this offer and went down to 1k. Eventually I took the matter to court but Gurms was not honest or factual with his defence statement and instead became personal. When i questioned him about this he told me its because he is dissapointed in me as he had treated me like family. He blamed invisalign for refusing to reopen my plan and I regretably accepted an offer for less than half of what i had spent on my treatment plan. Since the court case concluded I have been advised by several dentists and contacted invisalign directly who told me my treatment plan could only have been reopened by Gurms. I have been advised by a professional who worked with Gurms previously that this is not the first time he sold the wrong package so they are not surprised by my story. This person encouraged me to report Gurms to the GDC which i have done and the case is currently under investigation. I will update with outcome. I would not recommend Gurms to anyone, he is not a man of his word. He is not honest about costs and treatment outcomes. He is, in my opinion, greedy and lacks expertise in orthodontics and should stick to creating fake teeth. I am shocked but not so shocked anymore to read the other reviews which are so similar to my own story. I wish i had known this before as i would never had gone to such a dishonest individual. Gurms is a insta hype and i have faith with maharajs kirpa that due to how he has behaved, that hype will soon end. I still have TMJ, misaligned teeth and I have been quoted 4k by several dentists to fix the issues i have been left with.i am now taking the matter back to court esp after reading the reviews below

Negative experience: I had travelled from London, assuming that the treatment provided would be honest, but I was completely wrong. My initial issue was that I had gaps between my teeth from gum disease, and my teeth had moved as I had stopped wearing my retainers. I was told that I could have gum grafting, but beforehand, it would be good to align my teeth. I was given the cost, and I agreed to that. I was told that it will take few months and then once my teeth is sorted,then the other dentist can perform the gum graft procedure and I will also be given few pairs (3) of retainers to wear. I had made good few trips and upon my last daily retainer,I was asked if I wanted my teeth whitening and to be honest I was not aware until I had to make payment what that entailed as I thought it was just a quick thing that dentist did. In that appointment I did ask about gum grafting and I was told that Dr Gurms will be meeting the other dentist and will get back to me on that in few days and that never happened, I was just left in limbo with no permanent retainer. I had messaged a few weeks after and asked what was happening, and weeks later, I chased again, and I was booked a telephone appointment with Dr Gurms. On the day I moved my work meeting to later and Dr. Gurms had called later than appointment time ( understandable as appointments do overrun). I had no follow-up call or anything until weeks later I asked via WhatsApp message like before and I heard nothing and few weeks later I chased again and was given a excuse that my messages were missed. I am not sure how anyone can do this,i.e., leave patients' treatment half-way and just lie through and through. Please don't deceive people and give incorrect information, and if you are charging patients a few thousand pounds for treatment, complete theory treatment. I had taken time off work each time I travelled from London, for which I don't get paid as I thought I could trust service here, but I was proved wrong. I would have been better off having this done in London, and it would have been much cheaper. I would not recommend anyone this place and definitely regret going here. Once they have your cash,they don't bother. I didn't mind paying, and I had expected nothing outside of what was discussed. You don't start a treatment and leave it halfway. I am not sure how a dentist thinks it's OK to align teeth n not provide permanent aligners.

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to Smiles by Gurms for a few months now and the service, friendliness and professionalism is always spot on. They always go out of their way to make sure you are reassured and happy and you never feel rushed.

Negative experience: Cost ended up being a lot more then initially quoted. Never explain anything. I now have a piece of metal hanging out my mouth. On the last day I was given some retainers and I was told I never need to go to the dentist again!!!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing service! I have a fear of dentists but all of the staff here made my experience feel so comfortable! I chipped my teeth a few years ago but Tarnjeet was able to strip out the old bonding and rebond the teeth giving them a natural look. In addition, I had to reschedule my appointment several times since I was travelling from London but the team was very flexible in doing this. Overall very happy with the service and I will continue to use Tarnjeet for any future cosmetic work!

Fantastic experience: Five stars isn’t enough. Dr Gurms has a team of dentists but I only worked with him directly and I must say… he’s changed my smile and my self confidence in a multitude of ways. He’s honest, fair, kind and a real genius. He didn’t just give me the smile I wanted, he treated me like family, and even took care of a tooth that had nothing to do with Invisalign as a normal patient that could have resulted VERY differently elsewhere. His entire team are all educated and qualified so it doesn’t matter who you get on the phone - they know how to help. I can’t recommend him enough. Fantastic experience: I wish I found Dr Gurms Raja sooner. I had been disliking my teeth since forever, crooked, wonky, mishaped, aligned. I came across Dr Gurms Raja on instagram was was instantly blown away with the before & afters and seeing some cases worse or similar to mine with flawless results. I knew I finally had to get myself booked in and get a professional opinion on my teeth. Without the cost of vaneers as then I would not have been able to afford those, and did not want to go abroad for Turkey Teeth. The start of my treatment I felt comfortable, at ease, we spoke about the options and how well each would work for me or if they wouldn’t work for me. After what felt like an age due to covid, and three lots of 12 aligners, we finally had the alignment in place and ready for whitening and bonding, the whitening, for me is the worst experience but that’s purely down to the formula which is not in Dr Raja’s realm, but we worked with a way that could gently whiten my teeth over a safe amount of time. Next was the bonding and I can not explain how excited I have been for that moment, the first time I saw my new teeth I could not have been happier. They were natural looking, bright, even, symmetrical and suited my mouth shape perfectly. I am so glad I invested in my teeth with Smiles by Gurms. I genuinely cannot recommend him enough and it’s been over a year since my smile has transformed. I’m not from Leicester so the trips were well worth it. It pays to find the right person and it pays off to pay more then get the cheapest job possible. You are really looked after, I’m not an influencer or a social media person, I’m just a regular person who received a great service.

Negative experience: Spent £6k on a smile makeover... I wish I did my research and had consultations with other local dentists before opting to embark on my invisalign, whitening and composite journey with this clinic. I wasn't going to write this review, but as I received a message from a text recently asking me to, I was irritated into doing so. Having seen this practice on Instagram, I thought wow and decided to book me and my husband in for a consult. The consult for invisalign went fine, although what I really wanted was fixed braces for convenience, but it was a firm no. My invisalign journey went OK- though on my last set of trays, they had freyed and had cracked and I'd raised concerns about how aligned my teeth were. I was due to have my bonding on the day I was being assessed. And instead of, let's fix the alignment issue, it was well I can add more bonding to the side to make it look like the teeth have been brought out more. I felt pushed into having the bonding and so it went ahead. There was no consultation about the style / look I wanted. Initially, I was blown away. Pearly whites and fuller looking teeth and it was a shock. I stupidly sent them a little gift, which I regret. My front tooth chipped and instead of restoring it back to its length, he made it the same length as thr 2nd tooth next to it at the side! I was told that repairs normally cost £70, but on this occasion it is free. I am now left with my 2 front teeth different lengths and chips on other teeth. My permanent aligners took 4 weeks to come in the post and I wasn't even given a fixed retainer (but my husband was) The retainers were that painful to put on, because I hadn't had anything on my teeth for 4 weeks and the teeth had moved. I wish I had done my homework, as another clinic in Leicester, scans your teeth for a consult and creates a mock up and also gives free chip repairs for a year! Apparently the more thorough and correct way of bonding is to numb the teeth, push the gums back and then bond. But this wasn't the case here and at £350 a tooth, you'd think the more thorough way would be done. I am now left out of pocket and hate smiling with my teeth on show. I cannot afford to realign my teeth because I had to wait 4 weeks for my retainers! One side looks considerably shorter than the other. On top of this, I was filmed and did agree for the reaction to be put on Instagram stories, knowing it would expire. I did not expect to be plastered permanently on the instagram grid without prior consent. I'd even signed the forms to say no social media! But felt under pressure. The clinic removed it. I am now going to have to save up to realign and start from scratch with composite bonding elsewhere. It seems to me that this practice is a cam belt and they only give influencers the full treatment.

Fantastic experience: I first met Gurms in the summer of 2022. I have been wanting my teeth sorting for a few years now and after reading Smiles by Gurms reviews and friends who had also visited I thought I would book a consultation. I have NEVER walked into a dentist, sat in the chair and been able to relax. DR Gurms has superpowers and he is an absolute perfectionist. If you want to take yourself on a truly remarkable ‘tooth’ journey then this practice is the place for you. Negative experience: Don't do invisalign here. The result is not good and the price is high. Once they get your money, they don't care about you any more.

Fantastic experience: I had the Guided Biofilm Therapy with Dental Therapist Kiran. My teeth looked amazing afterwards, a lot brighter. Since I have been seeing Kiran my oral health has improved. She is very knowledgeable and has helped me understand how best to care for my teeth.

Fantastic experience: I visited Smiles by Gurms to have a consultation about my teeth and what could be done to improve their appearance as they've always made me self conscious. From the moment I walked in I was wowed, this place is just stunning. Dr Gurms was knowledgeable and made me feel so at ease, we talked through my options and what would suit my wants best. I have now completed my smile journey which included whitening and composite bonding and am left with the most incredible teeth I could have ever wished for with absolutely no damage to my natural teeth. All the team here are so kind and friendly, from the girls on reception to the lovely Holly who I had an education appointment with - she taught me so much about oral hygiene she was amazing. And of course Dr Gurms himself who is just a wizard in his work. THANK YOU Smiles by Gurms for giving my confidence in my appearance and going above and beyond for your patients.

Negative experience: Cancelled initial appointment (although this was done within less than the required notice period) I had re-arranged for another date and was told I would receive a confirmation text message but I did not receive anything. I received a call to tell me that I missed my appointment and that they had phoned me a few days beforehand and left a voicemail. I explained I didn’t get a call and neither was I left with an voicemail, the advisor was adamant that this was the case. Had they checked their telephone records, it would have been evident no phone call was made to myself, additionally had they checked the system they use to send confirmation text messages of appointments … they would have found no text message was sent!! Therefore due to their lack of responsibility and management, my deposit (£100) has been lost for ‘no show’. Had the advisor checked their call history and made sure the message was delivered or even double checked to make sure it was sent to the correct number, I wouldn’t need to leave this negative review. Definitely will not be using their services if this is how poorly I was treated as a new client! Deepa

Fantastic experience: Previously, I had the worst dental experiences. I always been so unhappy with the work which has been done on my teeth by previous dentists. However, Dr Gurms and his team are amazing! Their welcoming, services and results been much more than I expected. Fantastic experience: I’ve been following Dr.Gurms on Instagram for over a year before I finally decided to book an appointment. I am a very anxious person when it comes to dentists as I had bad experiences in the past, but Dr.Gurms was able to change that (and I would never have said this was possible). Absolutely professional team, always kind and helpful. I had 6 months braces and whitening done and can’t recommend the practice enough. Fantastic experience: I had cosmetic bonding by Gurms on 4 of my teeth and it was the best decision I have made. Gurms was thorough with his consultation and honest. I had initially asked if I needed the top 6 teeth doing but he assured me I only needed 4 as they were the ones you could see when I smiled.
